The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

"Offering to help you outta your pants?" She replied, letting it hang with a smile. "Lets see how the evening goes, I'm hopeful though~" She teased before taking another gulp of her drink. Why were there so many adorable people everywhere she went? April just couldn't help herself. Obviously she did occasionally run into a jerk or two, but getting to know people in bars was so much fun, as long as she kept pretty aware of her surroundings.
There was a very visible shake in her new pretty artist friend. Had what April had brought up shocked her? It sort of shocked April but- Wait. What?
She'd meant that literally??? "Wait wait, you too??" She leaned further forwards, flirting momentarily forgotten. "Wait are you missing time too?" She'd only worked out she was missing time through proxy to be fair. "Uhm. No. I did not. I uh-" She blinked. This was too weird.
"God, I was just sitting here thinking about how gorgeous you were, I wasn't expecting this when I sat down." She shook her head half in amusement. "I don't know what happened. Apparently I'm missing 8 years. And I'm younger?" She admitted, very very confused. Well it could be worse, there was a cute girl with her at least.

April slowly shifted on the spot, clinging to the area radiating heat while Erik went and made her a drink. She was very very down for a hot drink, but she was not going to shift from the heat until she had to, no sir. She leaned her head back and started to slowly feel more and more comfortable. There was this odd balance between wanting to go out and explore this brand new city she apparently lived in, and also trying not to totally freeze to death whenever she went out into the cold.
She glanced around as Erik came over with the drink, trying to take in the room and work out what it was for. It was pretty inconspicuous. A charity maybe? It definitely didn't strike her as a business. She gazed into his eyes and tilted her head slightly. He was showing a lot of concern towards her, which was a little odd. Something about the way he held himself and sized her up earlier struck her as odd. It wasn't the normal checking out her rear, it was more calculated. And familiar.
"Uhm, some bar around here. I walked into about 4 wrong bars before figuring out that I was totally lost." she admitted, taking a sip of her sweet drink. April was by no means a snob, hot drink was hot drink. And caffeine. Caffeine was good. "Oh, that makes sense! So, sorta like a mutant shelter?" She was now very interested, she'd never heard of anything like this but then again it made sense that it was here.
"You could say that..." How did you word this to a new person? "Er... I sorta woke up in an alley a few blocks over last week." She admitted.

It was almost like a switch had gone off in the other girl's head, she was just completely and totally absorbed into the drawing. April gazed back into her eyes when she did and found herself suddenly halted and curious, what was going on behind those eyes? She'd been all tense and stressed out one moment and then the next completely absorbed into what she was doing. It was different.
She grinned playfully. "Usually I'm the one getting into other people's pants honey." She teased with a bit of bluster. "Are you telling me it wasn't?" She teased further before abruptly stopping and gazing at the pink haired girl sitting infront of her. She was a mystery. She'd heard the line a million times to be sure, but the other girl seemed to give it a different meaning. And this wasn't just another petty amusement or attraction either. It was different.
April grinned somewhat dreamily. "Yeah there are~" She agreed happily. So many pretty people. And a surprising number of at least bi-sexual girls. Really it would be a wonderland if it wasn't for the terminator kill bots in the background.
April took another long pull of her drink and blinked a few times. She'd actually had a fetching blush on her cheeks for most of this conversation, the pink haired artist had really caught her off guard. "Maybe if you kiss another beautiful girl you'll end up somewhere more wonderful? Or at least a bedroom?" She winked.
Wait. Hold on. "Uhm. Hang on, did you- Wait." April blinked, gathering her thoughts into something cohesive. "I er. Well hun, I sort of woke up in an Alley with no memory of coming here the other day." She admitted.

Oh. She was a recently manifested mutant? That made her tension and general aura of anxiety seem more understandable. April supposed that she could see a person freaking out being in the city and then having their world turned upside down. She changed the smile from the 'get into your pants' smile to the 'hey it's not so bad smile' in her opinion they had equal practice, one was for keeping people from going into shock while you pulled shrapnel out of them, one was for getting laid. She thought she was pretty good at both.
"I'm sorry, it can be rough. I nearly burned the house down when it happened to me." she admitted. Recalling her and Danny's practically joint manifestation. His power was so much more simple and easy to control than hers. Though, hers was much prettier. "Oh really? apparently I help people for a living." She blurted without really thinking. It was odd to think that she was an EMT now. Well, she was in the future? Ugh. Headache.
The fresh cold drink was placed in front of her, it was some kind of vibrant pink cocktail. April eyed the other girl as she spoke and took a long gulp. Kinda sorta girlfriend? That didn't sound super certain. April would happily take that. And if she decided she wasn't comfortable hanging and flirting with her, that was fine too. There were plenty of fish in this new, terrifying sea.
"Wonder how portland's changed." 8 years. Holy crap.
Ah, there was the blush. Ooooh she was a cutie. April smiled at the girl knowingly as she was studied. That kind of 'Oh I should check out the other person too' studying. So she was probably bi, or gay, judging by the conversation and her reaction to the compliment. And that suited April, just fine.
The grin turned into a cheeky smirk. "Can't say I've heard that one before. I've been around paint an' college students before." She grinned, letting that hang for a moment before letting up on the teasing a little. "'Course you can sweetie, especially when you're tossing around words like gorgeous." She replied with a quirked eyebrow.

April grinned at the girl, starting to feel more like herself she began taking an interest, she leaned forwards a little on the bar, glancing across as the napkin she was currently doodling on. It was definitely unique, April was becoming progressively more intrigued by the striking young woman. "You do this when you're stressed" She asked quirking an eyebrow. "My stress relief methods are generally a little different." She admitted shamelessly. Find a random stranger, get laid.
April nodded quickly, turning to engage the woman more directly. "Like how.. WHO thought they were a good idea??" This was something that had been driving her mad. "Are these things in other cities? I've never seen one! I think..." She muttered. They might both be in other cities, and she might have seen them before damned missing 8 years.
"It's not even just that the idea is evil either! They are so totally creepy! Have you seen them?" April gave off a visible shudder and put down a note on the counter. "Er. Could I get something cold now please?" The bartender shrugged, took the money and began fetching another drink, doing their best to otherwise just ignore Shelby and April ranting about murderbots.
"I don't think I've ever been to seattle." and she meant think, this was so confusing and awkward and arghhh.
"Your hair is beautiful, by the way." She complimented with a grin. Change subject. Murderbots creepy.

April took a big gulp of the hot drink. Honestly it might've been a little too sweet, even for her, but it was hot. And it was alcoholic. Which meant she would at least not be bothered by the cold quite so much. The blonde gave a very unlady like snort in response to the comment from the pink haired woman sitting next to her. "Yea huh, you're right about that one honey." She resumed cuddling the drink and trying to leech warmth through the mug to no real avail.
April leaned over a little to see what she was doing and immediately picked up on the talent. "Ooooh, that's lovely~" she chirped, taking another sip of her drink. It was nice to find people with artistic talent in unexpected places, April definitely had appreciation for beauty on many levels meaning that not only could she enjoy people and arts, arts enhanced the attractiveness of some people to her.
April shuddered softly. "I heard about those things the other day, but I didn't believe the dude that told me, what the hell are they doing around??" she was very much perturbed by these things, why did new york have killer robots hanging around period.
"As if this week wasn't weird enough already, ya got killer robots roaming around now!" She took another sip of her drink and drained it. Oooh. That was a nice feeling, warm in her stomach.

April was very pleased to see that there were a few people that were as appropriately dressed for the weather as she was. Well, people that might be as terribad at temperature regulation as she was at any rate, didn't matter. She didn't feel too out of place. She approached some of the sculptures and turned her head as she walked around them captivated by the way they sparkled like diamonds. Some small, mischievous part of her brain wondered what would happen if she lobbed a fireball into them...
April's eye caught a cute little redhead with a baby chatting with another woman, visibly blushing a little and then walking away with a stroller. Oh how she loved pale skin, it showed blushes on the cheeks so perfectly. Especially with girls.
As the woman drew a camera and started pacing around looking for good pictures April felt a little more immediate allure spread throughout her. It didn't look somebody contracted to be here, it looked like a gorgeous woman appreciating natural beauty, well maybe not natural but beauty none the less. She could respect that, she could even show some appreciation for that.
She remained where she stood, near one of the statues, just a little off to one side as she'd paced around it and smiled as the woman began taking shots, lost in her own little world. "Couldn't resist bringing out the camera, huh, gorgeous?" She called in a low drawl as the brunette neared her. Oh, she a pretty face, that was for sure.

Ooooh this was gonna be fun. April leaned into it whenever somebody checked her out. Almost universally speaking. "I'm sure it is sparky." she teased, enjoying the glow of the other girl as well as the warmth surrounding her. April really was a summer girl. She really ought to just win the lottery and spend the rest of her life sunbathing on beaches. That'd be the best outcome yup.
"Oooh. Mood rings are pretty." She burst into another chuckle. "Well, actually they're lame. But you're pretty hot so it made sense in my head." She admitted with a grin. "Oh stop~" She drawled with a impish grin plastered across her lips. This one was very cute. Had she been invited by somebody particular that she was neglecting for this cute rainbow mutant? Possibly, probably. Did she care? Hm. Nah.
She giggled at the explanation. "So you went from slightly gloomy to a stereotype?" She winked. "Not for nothin' though, it suits you. Makes you more alluring one could say~" She chirped. April was moving the whole time she was talking and was slowly getting the point where the jacket would become uncomfortable for her, she didn't peel it off just yet though.
Another bright grin coloured her lips, showing off some teeth through an excited smile she replied, getting a little closer so she could lower her voice. "Keep looking at me like that with those gorgeous eyes and you can get away with calling me pretty much anything you want."

April absolutely had not bothered to look for a sign on during her hurried descent down the staircase, she just wanted to get out of the cold. It was so lame, the last thing she remembered before the alley was being on a base and basking in the sunlight in her free time. Now she was having to walk around in 4 layers with thermals. She'd heard people she'd met already say she was doing overkill, but when they needed to replace as much body heat as her, then they could judge her.
"Wha-" she was not in the right place. April almost face planted onto the bar when it dawned on her that it was probably not hygienic, and she might have a challenging time de-sticking her face from it. She muttered to herself incoherently and resolved to sit here at least until she'd regained some warmth. "D-don't suppose you've got something hot behind there do ya?" She asked the bartender just after the pink haired girl next to her requested another. Was she 21? She wasn't actually sure, age was normally hard for her to judge even not considering her current confusing circumstances, but the stranger did look young.
The bartender brought her something that smelled sickly sweet, alcholic and was definitely steaming. She held it in both currently pale looking hands and practically snuggled it after paying. "Y-You're an angel." she stammered through not quite-chattering teeth. "This city huh? Impossible to find anything." She made small talk, trying to thaw.

Man, she was cute. April had met a lot of pretty girls... Well to be honest pretty much all of them had something attractive about them. Everyone had something worth dancing about. She grinned as the girl noticed her. April was a little taken aback when the colour changed. Had she done that on purpose? Her hair colour changed too. She wondered idly if the girl had been using the colours to find someone to chat up.
April sized the girl up, checking her out, she wasn't subtle about it. "Well that's good, nicknames are kinda ma' thing" she chirped, enjoying the pretty light show and the body heat surrounding her. Until she found someone to snuggle in a more intimate setting this was a good substitute to keep her warm.
"Ooooh. Skye is almost as pretty as your smile and hair. The lights are cool too, how's that work then, are you a walking rainbow?" She eyed the other girl a little hungrily "I love the colour clash between your bright hair and your punk clothes, it's so totally adorable." She lathered ontop, grinning at the other woman.
"Totally screams I'm a scene girl with attitude." She nodded to herself as she made the observation before letting out a hearty laugh, it was a very merry happy sound, she danced a little closer too. April was clad in dark skinny jeans and a sleeveless fiery orange top with a dark leather jacket gently draped on her shoulders.

One thing April had not done before was college parties. Which was sort of funny, she'd been drinking for a looooong time. Even longer given the whole unexpected youth thing, but she'd started her corpsman training pretty much straight out of school, so even though she really tended to give off a party girl vibe, she'd never actually been to that many parties. Well, not that she remembered at any rate.
She wasn't actually sure how she'd ended up at this one come to think of it. She'd messed around with so many people this last week or two, she couldn't remember which flirtation had led her to this spot but she was definitely enjoying it. It wasn't the 18 year olds everywhere kind, it seemed to mostly be second and third year college students so they were much closer to her apparent age, which meant they were a little more mature on the whole.
Not that she minded, pretty people were pretty people, but it did mean that she wasn't getting any odd looks. Just the fun kind of looks. Honestly April's personality also tended to drag people's eyes towards her in this sort of situation, she could hella dance, she was loud and ostentatious and she was both metaphorically and literally hot.
But there was somebody else here that was drawing a lot of attention. She'd caught April's eye the second she'd moved onto the 'dance floor'. It was hard not to notice her. She was maybe trying a little too hard with the punk image, but her fairly obvious mutation was drawing a lot of attention to herself. There was of course a small temptation to flicker a little and see how people reacted, but maybe she'd save that for later.
She made her way across and between people. Sometimes this sort of situation could get a little stuffy but somebody had opened a window so it was a little chilly for April while everyone else was probably comfortable. She danced her way across the floor towards the pretty lights, leeching body heat where she could by dancing close to somebody before she ended up in front of the multi-coloured wonder.
She gave the girl a smokey smile, which was helped by the fact that she was literally radiating more heat than most people in the room. "Well hi there sparky~"

So April hadn't taken long to get back on top of this flirting thing. She'd occasionally get reprimanded at the base for it but here there was nobody to stop her going crazy. She'd gotten this pretty cute guys number and was supposed to be meeting him at this bar. He'd only vaguely described the bar to her, and told her that he'd show her around after she got there and they'd had a few drinks. She doubted he'd be showing her much of the city, probably show her something though.
She wandered down into the bar out from the cold, absolutely shivering despite having 3 layers on and immediately scooted next to the radiator at the bottom of the stairs. It was pretty quiet, mostly wooden interior, she glanced around and after leaning against the radiator practically purring for a minute or two she made her way over to the bar, stripping down a couple of layers so she didn't look like an arctic adventurer.
As she reached the bar she noticed one other patron, a women was also coming to the bar. April glanced around and huffed, gently placing her folded clothes onto one of the bar stools. Was he running late? If she got stood up she'd be super annoyed! She eyed the other woman curiously before ordering a drink.
"Uhm. 'Scuse me hun" She called the bartender. "What's the name of this fine establishment of yours?"

April had been pointed to the building and on arriving and asking around she'd been told that somebody would come and give her a hand in am in. She wasn't waiting all the long remotely speaking but she leaned against the edge of a sofa in the entrance outside of the direct blast of frigged air coming from outside and began rubbing her hands together gently. She was of course properly dressed for the weather.
The problem was that there were only so many layers you could put on, even when they were thermally laced. Freaking arctic weather.
She smiled widely when a man clearly moving with purpose came into the lobby and started moving towards her. She glanced him up and down as he approached her. There was something familiar about the way he walked and held himself... He was in a ready stance, that was it. His face was friendly enough but there was this tension in his limbs that she was very familiar with.
And hotdamn he was fit. And not in just the April wanting to get to know him without clothes on kind of way (Well, that too), it was his muscles. He was clearly somebody that kept in shape, and his stance betrayed something... Military in training. She was definitely very curious and interested in him.
She probably would have spent much more time checking him out if he hadn't thrown her by greeting her and offering her nector. "Uhm, that'd be a hell yea!" She exclaimed. "Oh! Hi, names' April, I'm sorta kinda lost~" She blinked and then glanced around again. "What is a sanctuary?"

April was still kind of doing the roundup of places she apparently liked that Danny had given her. April was glad that her older-self had bought much more thermal laced clothing because it made walking around New York site seeing in the middle of winter a lot less painful than it otherwise would have been. But she still couldn't get away with wearing the sorts of clothes she normally would, and that bothered her.
Okay, so the blue jacket and scarf and beanie were sort of stylish but she couldn't show off any skin! Well, unless she wanted to actually literally die of frostbite she couldn't.
The current stop on the site seeing tour was a little corner of central park her brother had informed her she'd been to a lot. She hadn't been sure why until she got there and realised a lot of pretty people liked the spot, it seemed like she probably hung out here to pick people up, or just let them know that they were gorgeous and went well with the scenery.
Most of the city had a dusting of frost today, but there hadn't been any actual snow around her all day which was a good thing. April hated the snow, it was pretty and all but she hated being out in it. Photographs were fine, and watching it outside from the comfort of a fire and a preferably an also warm body were also fine. But liquid ice? Nah, no thank you.
She was lost in thought and maybe checking a passerby or two out as subtly as she could before she came across something most unusual. With a little gasp she blinked and leaned forwards. It was snowing, but only in this little localised area, almost like a little clearing of snow. And in the centre were these glittering ice sculptures of different people and animals, they truly looked like the work of a master.
She had no idea how there could be so many, and in such a good condition before she chided herself. It was probably the work of a mutant, that'd explain the little ring of snow. She fished through her bag and muttered "Should've brought a camera April." and eventually settled on a pretty low fidelity snapshot or 10 with her phone. This was less about actual photography and more about having something to show Danny to prove she wasn't making it up.

So Portland was big. But New York was like. Super mega big. When April had woken up practically in an alley a few days ago she had freaked out pretty hard. Normally she was a pretty level headed pers- Okay no, so she wasn't level headed. She was hot headed, but she wasn't a little girl she was a full grown woman and she didn't panic dammit. She had been near live explosives and ammunition and could literally handle the heat.
She was absolutely confused that day, and then she'd looked down and seen clothes she didn't own, set fire to a pile of garbage and pulled out a phone she didn't own and found a number labelled with her brother's name, gave him a call and then entered some crazy sci-fi level madness that she was in no way ready for.
She was still shaking her head over the whole thing. She wouldn't have believed him except... Well, he was older than her now. And there were clocks, and the internet and she had discharge papers...
She actually had gotten a little teary and had a breakdown when she heard about it. The base had been such a big part of her life up until the other day. Or it hadn't? Apparently she'd been out of the navy for a few years, and had been working as an EMT in the city here. She had SO many pretty people's contact details in her phone and some pictures...
She'd made Danny promise not to tell her parents, yet at least. She needed to get a handle on this. On her life, on this city. She'd spoken to somebody that he'd said was one of her colleagues and might be able to tell her more about her life for the last 8 years. She'd agreed to meet them at a bar she'd obviously never heard of.
Danny had told her she'd always said she'd never go to the place, but not why. She wasn't sure, but she thought she was in more or less the right area? She wandered around aimlessly until she bumped into somebody that was very clearly another mutant. "'Scuse me hun, I'm kind of lost, can you help a gal out?" She asked the scaled person. They responded in a feminine voice, which clarified something to her that was not obvious by their appearance.
"Er...Sanctuary might be able to help, building over there." The mutant said with a gesture.
She thanked them and gave them a few bills, they looked semi-homeless at the very least and stepped over to a building with very little current activity. It was getting dark now, she had a couple of hours left before she met this person and she'd wanted to make sure she had plenty of time to find it. Danny was right, she should've used google maps more.
