The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Anyway, I've been ill the last couple days. If I do get to go to school tomorrow, I will then have the oppurtunity to go to my last high school Halloween dance.
Next, I will be seeing a comedian in the grand capital of Wisconsin. That happens to be a few hours from my house, but now that I think about it, I may have time ealier that morning to get some posting done. It really all depends.
Mr. Stein seemed to be complimenting the young woman and Henrietta felt her face get a tad red as she smiled at her teacher. “Well, thank you. I did some researching and it helps that I’m German, so I kind of have some background in the language. My grandfather likes to use German sometimes.” She glanced at his face and tried to read what he was thinking. The brunette wasn’t sure if he would be upset that she found out about him, but of course if he didn’t want her to know, he wouldn’t have given her the opportunity. At the same time, maybe he was kind of hoping that her knowing something about him would make it so they could talk. She wasn’t really sure.
As a reward, her defense teacher told her something. He told her when he was born. At first she thought nothing of it, but then thought about the year more. She was born in 1993 and he didn’t look much older than her. The year 1993 and the year 1980 were 13 years apart. 13 years?! He only looked around 20, not 30. Her mouth dropped open at the realization. “You—you look so young. How can you be born in 1980!?” She blinked and tried sorting out how it could be possible. “Do you age slower or…?” She didn’t know how to finish that question. What other options could there be besides that? Her blue eyes looked at her teacher expectantly, waiting for an answer.
Twyla began to sob and Henrietta had felt it coming. There was just something that had told her that her friend needed this. She could tell there had been something wrong, but she had avoided saying it, even if Gawain and Henri were probably the two people that cared for her the most. The brunette’s right arm instinctively wrapped around the other woman and her left hand began to pet her brown hair. She made a hushing noise to help calm her. She did it with Murielle when she was upset.
After some time to think it over, Henrietta began to feel angry. She couldn’t believe Kurt had done that to her. After everything the two of them had been through, it seemed like a real crappy thing to do. Letting go of her friend, she stood up abruptly. Not yelling at Twyla, but out of frustration, the woman’s arms flew up above her head in exclamation as she began ranting. “The nerve of some men! I mean, really?! What an a$$hole!” She turned towards Gawain. “And if you go after him, I’m bringing Van’s hand gun and I will personally--“ The kids ran through the kitchen again and she instantly stopped and smiled at them as they passed by.
When they were gone, she began pacing and took a few deep breaths. She ran her hands through her hair and sat next to Twyla again. She kept her voice low and then glanced down at her hands that were now in her lap. “Why didn’t you tell me this, Twy? You know I would do anything for you and you didn’t waste your time. You’ve been growing and becoming a wonderful, smart, strong woman.” Her blue eyes met Twyla’s brown ones and she took her hands again. “He’s the one wasting his time on some bimbo. He will regret doing this to you when he realizes how great he had it with you. How wonderful and special you are. You’re still young. You’ll find someone and have beautiful babies with them.“
Twyla told the brunette that it wasn’t what it looked like, and Gawain agreed. She watched as the man pulled up a chair alongside her best friend and walked over to the empty chair on the other side. Quietly, she perched on the edge of the seat. He had already told her to explain what happened, so Henrietta didn’t add anything. All she did was grab Twyla’s hand in her own. She was good at comforting. The girl thought back to the first time Van had told her something serious. All she had done was take his hand. Sometimes, that’s all you can do for someone. Listen, and let them know that you’re there for them.
Elle giggled as she was dragged behind Lilly. It was as if nothing had ever happened between all of the children, because soon enough, all the kids were laughing and running around. Henrietta smiled as they darted through the kitchen. She thought it was cute how little kids never seemed to care about anything very long. Forgive and forget. The woman realized there was a lot to learn from children, just as there was a lot for them to learn from adults.
Gawain asked if he was in over his head and the woman laughed slightly. “Of course you are. They’re children and hard to tame. They’ll do what they want and throw tantrums if they don’t get something, but I also think children are one of the biggest blessings. It really helps you see things in different ways.” Her blue eyes stared straight ahead, a faint smile on her face. “Murielle has taught me lots of things and I’m sure Lilly and Connor have taught Emerald a lot of things. Just as Rupert has probably affected you and taught you valuable lessons. As they say, ‘out of the mouth of babes’.”
Henrietta turned back towards Twyla. “And when you have kids, I know you’ll be a great mom. You’ve always been more patient with children than me, and Elle just loves you. I’m not sure if that’s what’s upsetting you, or if something else has happened, but I want you to know we’re here for you and that you’re like a sister to me.” The woman squeezed Twyla’s hand slightly and gave her a small smile.
Henrietta didn’t have a chance to answer any of his questions. She stared up at the sky still, nothing in particular running through her mind. It felt like information was being leeched from her brain and she found herself starting to feel confused. It seemed as though she was missing something important. Wait, who exactly is ‘she’ anyway? She had a name, Henri knew that, but she didn’t know that her name was actually Henrietta May Braun. In fact, she didn’t remember much of anything about herself. She was surprisingly unalarmed.
After a few moments, the girl blinked and tilted her head so it was symmetrical with the ground. Her blue eyes scanned the area, trying to figure out where she was. Of course, it may be easier to figure out where she was, if she knew who she is. Hmm, I need clues. Instinctively, her line of sight went to her clothes. She looked like a ragdoll. Did she know a ragdoll? Was she really a ragdoll? For some reason, the name “Sally” popped out in her mind. Sally was a ragdoll, right? Therefore, she must be Sally. It was the only thing that really made sense. It seemed logical enough and after all, being able to call herself any type of name would be nice.
‘Sally’ turned and looked at the boy she was standing near. Her eyebrows furrowed together in concentration. Did she know him? Had she come here with him? Did he know who she was?! She felt herself get excited and stared at him, blinking every couple seconds, waiting for him to stop looking up. Wait, why was he looking up? She tilted her head back once again and then shrugged. The brunette didn’t see anything up there. Looking at all the other people, she realized they were all looking up to. “Humans are weird.” That seemed right, she was a ragdoll after all, how was she supposed to understand a bunch of humans?
Chris suddenly announced that he had to go to work. The girl frowned slightly when she heard this. “Oh, um, okay. I hope work goes good. Working hard or hardly working, right?” Henrietta mentally gave herself a face-palm. What was that about? It didn’t even have to do with the situation really. Wooow, you’re a doofus, Henri. She smiled with a blush beginning to creep onto her cheeks. “Uh, I apologize. That was really awkward. I guess I’m just a little out of it right now. There’s a lot of stuff going on and-“ She stopped herself.
When he asked if they could talk again sometime, the girl beamed. “Of course we can! I would like that a lot. I’m usually in my room or doing something,” she gestured at the Mansion, “or just around here in general.” The brunette waved at him quickly and looked much happier. “Have a good day at work!”
When Henrietta first saw Lenna, she also saw something come towards her face. The brunette instinctively put her hands up to catch whatever it was. Before the woman even began explaining what it was, Henri glanced down at it. It was pepper spray. Her blue eyes blinked a few times, a bit confused as to why she had it.
Her eyes went to Lenna when as she told the girl what she was holding, even though she had figured it out, and asked if she needed to explain its usage. When she mentioned the fact that Henri probably wouldn’t have needed help if she had something like that in the first place, she felt a blush creep onto her face. Her hand went to the back of her head and she scratched while giving her new teacher an embarrassed smile. .
“Uhh, no I think I understand the concept.” Henrietta turned the can around in her hands as she looked at it once again. She quickly gave her teacher a real smile and made eye contact. “Thank you, by the way. I’m sure it’ll come in handy sometime.” She kind of hoped she would never be in a situation where it would be ever again, but there was a good chance an opportunity to attack someone’s eyes with a stinging compound would arise sooner or later.
Henrietta was glad to act like nothing had happened between her and Locke. It had been a bad day for both of them the first time they met. Of course, her day hadn’t been too bad until he got grumpy, but that was fine. It had been hard for him to just show up in a new place and not knew where anything was. The brunette hadn’t held a grudge. She had never been very good at that and she always thought people deserved a second chance, even if whatever happened the first time was decently bad or awkward.
Their first encounter hadn’t been enough to scare Henri Braun away and he obviously wanted to make the effort, since he came to her. She wouldn’t have ever recognized him with the mask on, so he could’ve snuck away no problem if he had felt like it. The brunette grinned as they discussed Saw. It was nice to have a common interest. It made conversations so much easier. “I really do like the characters in those movies. They’re very good at making you feel connected to them and like you know them. I like that in a movie, though when everyone is killed off, it’s a bit sad after you know them for around 2 hours.” She laughed at what she said and then at his costume last year, but not in a teasing way. “Very nice. I wasn’t anything last year, though if I had the option, I would’ve loved to be some sort of scary faerie thing. I’m not really into being overly cutesy for Halloween, considering its background and purpose nowadays.”
He asked how she was, but started moving. It felt like she was supposed to follow, so she did. The girl walked a few steps behind the boy through the crowd. He was heading toward a well. Henrietta smirked, wondering if he was thinking about the movie “The Ring”. “I’m glad you’ve been good. I’ve been okay myself. A few weird things happened here and there, but I’m fine no-“ Something happened. She wasn’t sure what, but something felt weird. Without realizing it, her head tilted backward to look at the sky.
Henri’s breath continued along with all her other bodily functions, but her mind was blank and she continued to look upwards, as if in a daze.
Henrietta rushed in, completely scared. She was afraid someone was seriously hurt, but all she saw was the two girls stuck under a clothes basket and a bookcase. Gawain made the boys release them and Elle ran over to her mom. Tears stained her cheeks and she let out a sob as she buried her face into her mother’s skirt. She went to say something, but all that came out was another sob. The woman made a hushing noise and then motioned for Lilly to come to her as she kneeled on the floor.
When the other girl was near, Henri wrapped an arm around each girl and made the hushing noise again. “I’m glad you girls are okay.” She pulled back and smiled at them. Elle wiped her eyes and hugged Lilly. “You were going to save me from that bookcase. Thank you! You’re the best friend ever!” Henrietta watched the two and thought of Emerald as they grinned at each other. Elle took her friend’s hand and then swung their arms back and forth.
Henri listened to Gawain tell the boys what they were to do. She stood up and glanced at the two young boys who had ended up trapping the girls somewhere. The woman approached them and gave them a quick smile. “I’m glad you’re all okay and everything doesn’t seem too banged up, including you. You guys just need to keep in mind the fact that they’re a bit different than you. Girls usually are.” The brunette winked at them before leaving them to clean up and watching the girls run off with happy smirks.
The brunette walked back into the other room to see Twyla looking a bit upset and Gawain asking if everything was all right. She was afraid she had walked in on a private conversation and quickly spun around to leave again, but she wasn’t sure where to go. “Uhh, I’m sorry. I can leave you guys alone if you want. I just don’t know where to go…” Henri trailed off, glancing around nervously.
Henrietta watched Chris for a moment. He seemed to be internally struggling with something. The brunette’s eyebrow rose slightly. She wondered what he was thinking about. Maybe it was about Van or maybe he was trying to decide if he agreed with Henri or not. She wasn’t trying to make him turn on Van or anything, but he seemed to be genuinely interested in what she was upset about, so she had told him.
After he was done doing whatever he had been doing, he made a joke back at Henrietta. She laughed again, but this time a little louder and harder. The brunette knew he had a hard time joking, so she was very glad he was coming up with them so fast. It appeared that he was becoming a little more comfortable with their talking, but she couldn’t be completely sure. At least he felt like he could joke with her. That was a good thing. It would be nice if they could hang out more.
“I definitely agree about the no actual fish thing. I don’t think there’s any real meat in any of their food.” She smiled and it made her blue eyes crinkle slightly. “They even claim to make some healthy food, but I’m not sure it’s true. Their salad might actually be deep-fried as far as we know. Though, I do love their french fries and chocolate shakes. Anything chocolate is cool with me.” Henrietta chuckled and shifted her weight from one leg to the other.
Henrietta had been a bit hungry, so she stopped by a restaurant she passed by while shopping. The brunette walked inside with a smile on her face and glanced around the place. It was cute and seemed very nice, but the woman at the counter stared at her for a moment before quickly glancing away. Henri blinked, confused by the woman, but then realized it must’ve looked weird since she still had a bit of a baby face and she was all alone...in New York. Embarrassed, her face turned red and she headed over to a table and sat down as she waited for someone to come take her order.
As she sat alone, the girl twiddled her fingers underneath the table. She glanced and attempted to make eye contact with the woman at the counter. When she caught her eye, Henrietta smiled and she smiled back. She walked over to her table with a notepad in her hand. “Hi, I’m Marianne. I’ll be your waitress today. Can I take your order?” The teen set her purse on the table. “Hello Marianne. Hmm…can I have a Pepsi? Well, unless you don’t have it.” The waitress nodded. “We have Pepsi. Oh, do you need a menu?” Henri nodded back.
Marianne walked back holding a menu and a Pepsi after a few minutes of absence. The woman set both things on the table and then she gave Henri a forced smile. “I’ll be back in a minute or two.” The brunette nodded once more and then opened the menu after taking a drink of Pepsi. She smiled to herself when the sweet liquid hit her tongue. Her finger ran down the list of food until she noticed steak with mushrooms and onions. Her smile widened and she brought her gaze back up. When the waitress noticed this, she walked back over. After giving her order to the woman and she went back to the kitchen, the girl decided she had to go to the bathroom.
Henrietta swung open the bathroom door and walked in. The first thing she noticed was another girl standing at the sink. She was yelling at herself and seeming to be freaking out. The brunette stopped in her tracks and looked at her for a moment, before making her way towards one of the stalls.
Chris attempted a joke and she laughed. “Hey, that was pretty good. I figured you were kidding with me.” Henrietta wanted to tell him not to be so nervous around her, but that wouldn’t necessarily do anything. It just made her sound bossy and rude, so she kept quiet, though she really did wish he’d lighten up a little because he really was a nice guy. If he grinned, she was sure it would make it easier to smile back at him. After all, smiling makes other people smile back, at least she had found that to be true.
Henri ran her hands through her long, brown hair as she watched Chris’s reaction. She felt a bit bad for even mentioning it, because he might’ve liked Van and she could’ve affected that. The girl sighed and let her hands fall loosely to her sides. “I’m sorry. I shouldn’t have said anything about him. He was pretty cool for a while and I wish..” She felt a lump in her throat as if she was going to cry, so she cleared her throat. “I wish we could be friends or something, but he just seems nervous now.” She tucked a strand of hair behind her ear.
The fish-boy explained to Henrietta how they met and she smirked. “Yeah, I could see him doing that. We met when he ran up and stuck a camera in my face to take a picture. And for some reason, though that seemed a bit creeper-ish, we went to get coffee. He ended up slipping a picture we had taken together in my pocket with his number on it.” She crossed her arms in front of her. “We then later went on a date, well I thought it was a date, to a movie and then to McDonald’s afterwards. Things went downhill at McDonald’s.” The brunette laughed at things going downhill at McDonald’s. “I bet tons of stuff goes bad at McDonald’s, including some of their food.”
The brunette was no longer scared, just mad at her own fear. She wasn’t sure why she had felt so scared. They were just people dressed up in costumes, like she was, but she kept imagining that one of those disguised humans was actually one of those terrifying villains. She knew that it couldn’t be, but part of her stomach still flipped at the thought. Henri had watched enough horrors movies to practically be able to tell you what was going to happen next. Creepy music would come on and the girl would feel that excited feeling that something twisted was about to happen.
Her arms were crossed over her chest and she gazed out grumpily at the people walking by. She saw the boy in the scarecrow costume glance at her warily before running passed her. That made her smirk a little and she felt her spirits rise. Someone in a mask that looked like rotting flesh walked by and then jumped at the girl. This time, instead of being scared, she waved and said “boo”. The person tilted their head to the side in confusion and then shrugged before walking away. She tapped her foot lightly against the ground with a grin on her face. Henrietta hummed the song “Won’t Get Fooled Again” by The Who.
As she stood by herself, someone with a mask walked toward her, but began to pull it up as they did so. When the person reached her, she knew it was Locke. Henri had met him when he had first arrived in New York and he was sitting on a bench, alone. The girl remembered him as being grumpy and a bit rude. She had gotten annoyed with him, but felt bad and showed him to the Mansion. It was weird, but she had never run into him, though they had been living in the same house. She felt her eyes widen a bit with surprise when he got to her and complimented her one her costume. “Uh, thanks.”
She glanced at his mask and then smirked. “Let me guess, Saw was your inspiration, right? Those are pretty good movies, twisted, but that’s what makes horror movies awesome.” Henrietta uncrossed her arms and placed one hand on her hip, but not in an intimidating way. It was more to relax than anything. “It’s good to see you, Locke. How have you been? Good, I hope.” A smile spread across her freckled face and it made her blue eyes wrinkle slightly. “You must be a big fan of horror as well. That’s cool. I love creepy, weird stuff. I’m pretty big into horror stories too.” The girl gathered her hair in her hands and put it over her shoulder.
Henrietta walked through the crowds, nervously glancing at the people dressed up as horror movie characters. She wore a costume of the ragdoll, Sally, from the Nightmare Before Christmas. Her face was painted to make it look like it was stitched together and a line extended from either side of her mouth to make her mouth look larger, and less human. Her brown hair was straightened and looked even longer than usual. It swished from side to side as she walked in her black, slightly high-heeled shoes. Stopping next to a food stand, the girl spun in a small circle, trying to see if she could recognize anyone she knew.
Usually, Henrietta May Braun was a big fan of horror. She read many scary books and loved horror movies, especially the type with weird monsters or creepy ghosts. But tonight, it seemed, all of the horrible sights surrounding her just made her want to go back home. She took a deep breath and walked over to a bench where it appeared a scarecrow was sitting. Carefully, the girl perched beside it and watched masses of people pass by. She admired all the different costumes and ideas people had come up with. It seemed that Halloween was great at bringing the creative, fun side out of people. A giggle escaped from her when she spotted a grown man dressed as Barney.
As she continued her stay on the bench, she felt like she was being watched. She slowly turned and glanced at the scarecrow, now wondering if it was a costume. After looking for a few moments, Henri rolled her eyes and began watching people again. She propped her arms on her knees and then rested her head on her hands. Something shifted next to her again. When she turned to look at the scarecrow again, it was right in her face and let out a shrill laugh. Henrietta let out a small scream and jumped off the bench.
The scarecrow’s hands reached for its head, and then took off the pumpkin that had been its skull. A young teenage boy laughed hysterically as he looked at the shocked expression on the brunette’s face. Henri gulped, still nervous, but then picked up a stuffed animal that someone had left on the ground near the bench and threw it at him. It wouldn’t hurt him of course, but it did make the girl feel much better. Turning away from him so quick that her hair almost whipped him in his face, she walked off with her head held high and a lump in her throat.
Chris seemed happy about the mansion. It seemed like a genuine happiness, which made her smile spread even further. She was glad to hear that he felt safe. Henri knew that was important to the boy. She couldn’t imagine him staying anywhere long if he felt threatened or insecure. The girl couldn’t see anyone willingly staying somewhere that made them nervous, but people did. Though, Chris was the type that would just take off running.
Henrietta was thrilled to see that Chris was interested in meeting her other friends. “That’s great! I’m sure they’ll like you, though a few of them may come on a little strong.” She pictured Mirror’s bluntness and peppiness. It made her smirk slightly. “They’re all really cool and have awesome powers.” She made a pouty face. “Everyone’s powers seem more interesting than moving hair.” The brunette laughed and winked to let him know she was kind of kidding, even though she really did envy other mutants powers.
The girl grinned. “I’ll have to set up a time for you to meet them. I don’t know where they all are right now, but I can tell you a little about them. Twyla’s my best friend and she blends in to her surrounds, but has quite a few limitations. Mirror changes genders every day and is either Gawain or Maya, depending on the day of course. They can also travel through mirrors, hence the codename.” She paused when she remembered something that might be good to know. “Twyla and Mirror are going out. My friend Emerald controls water and can turn into a wolf. It’s pretty much amazing.” Another pause. This time she was thinking about Van. “And Van is…was…I don’t know, but he can stretch. You probably noticed. We went on a kind of date and he told me that he does that with all types of girls. I threw fries at him and ran home.” She didn’t mention all the crying she had done.
