The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

The city was starting to grow on Dante, a little. He hadn't been in New York long, but he at least had a job and a place to live. To make it better, he managed to find somewhere where he was allowed to have his dog, and he wasn't far from a park. It was looking to be a pretty nice setup.
He and Duke were currently in the park; with the large black bulldog-mix on a retractable dog on a leash. He'd toss a ball, then let Duke run after it, so he could play fetch but still be somewhat restrained. Duke, like Dante....didn't like a whole lot of people. But the apartment wasn't exactly big enough to throw a tennis ball now, was it?
But they weren't just there for fetch and giggles. Dante was waiting on someone whom he hadn't seen in years. The game was just to keep the two of them occupied while waiting for her. Dante, in a rare moment, was excited. Duke wasn't sure what was going on, but he sensed his human's excitement, and that made him a little more energetic in response.

He merely nodded, not going into details about his mutation. Only his siblings would get to know about that, and his mom, but he'd told her before he'd even moved out to New York. But as pretty and sweet as this girl was, she was still someone he didn't know. And as such, he didn't trust her. Sure, he had his motives, but sharing his deep dark secrets weren't on his to-do list. Probably never would be, if he had his way.
But then she shared part of her story too. That was fair. Nice, even. It was interesting, as far as stories went. Her cat randomly started talking? That had to be creepy. Scary, even. "Damn...I don't know what I'd think if animals just started talking or something like that. Sounds wild," he said softly.
Wait....he'd actually paid attention? Well, he was mildly interested. After all, he was only on this date because of his dog. Heh...Duke set him up. He just hoped his dog was better at picking dates than he usually was.
"Guess we will," he said with a wink as she unzipped her jacket, which...didn't improve his view at all. That really was a damn shame. Maybe they'd do something about that later. But then he thought about it; she struck him as a very sweet, good girl. Maybe too good. Great. Oh well, either way, no need in letting the night go to waste; he'd just have to make up for it somehow.
Then she was asking personal questions. "Well, I was never really in an environment where I had to breathe smoke. And I only started smoking like this after my power surfaced, before then it never really crossed my mind. When your powers revolve around breathing smoke, and you're never around smoke....well, you don't discover that **** for awhile," he said, shrugging again as he looked across the table at her.

He propped up against the outside of the building, puffing on his cigarette, and taking a few drags, inhaling the smoke as the smoke came out. He smiled when he saw Kitra approaching; that trench coat was unmistakable. Not to mention that red hair. He shook his head. "Nah, not even long enough to finish this," he said with a shrug, smirking ever so slightly.
"Oh, I can put away a few drinks," he said with a wink. "But that other stuff sounds fun too." With that, he stamped out his cigarette and flicked the remains in a nearby trash can. She was still a good bit taller than him, but not as much as she was when she had the boots on earlier. Meanwhile, he'd worn the exactly the same thing she'd seen him earlier.
"Ready?" he asked, offering his arm to lead her inside. She was his date for the evening, after all.

He nodded, biting his lip. "I guess I had it easy, there," he admitted, though not giving too much information away. Just enough so they'd be even. "I don't know when my mutation surfaced. But I only discovered it last year. So I'm still fairly new to the whole mutant thing, and I don't really take to the judgement well. Hell, if I hadn't have been trying to make money, I probably would have kicked that guy's ass." He would have, in fact it was very hard for him not to anyway, so much so that just thinking about that guy made the hair on the back of his neck bristle up.
He continued enjoying his....view, before he was caught off guard by the unexpected voice. Oh right. Waitress. They were there to eat. He looked over the menu a moment more, thinking. "I'm honestly thinking the butter chicken," he said with a shrug. "And water, I guess," he said, looking back at Zoe, making eye contact this time.

"Rivalry's. Got it. I understand losing track of time," he said into the phone as he rather briskly made his way home. More briskly than usual, actually. "I'll see you around eight, then," he said before hanging up, then walked into his apartment building and up the one flight of stairs to his apartment.
He still had boxes lying around, but he was just too lazy to unpack all at once. He just pulled things out of boxes as he needed them. Once inside, he went to the kitchen, filling Duke's bowls with food and water, petting him and playing with him a little before leashing him up and taking him for a walk. But this walk was different. He was....antsy? Dante was...actually looking forward to this. It wasn't like him to look forward to something, but he hadn't had a date since the divorce. Hell, he still wasn't sure he was ready, but a part of him knew he probably needed this. For better or worse.
Once the walk was done, he got Duke back to the apartment, then looked down at what he was wearing. Honestly, he figured it'd be okay. Besides, his good clothes were in a box, and therefore buried and wrinkled to high hell, and that surely wouldn't do. Besides, with Dante, what you saw was what you got. Then, he pulled out his phone, and looked up the address to the bar; good, it wasn't terribly far. He ran a brush through his hair, and just shaped up his little bit of facial hair a bit.
Then, the smoke manipulator left the apartment, and made his way down the street to meet his date, lighting up a cigarette as taking a few drags on it as he walked.

"Eh, I just didn't really care," he said frankly. And honestly, he still didn't, but he was rather enjoying the company. It wasn't bad at all, if he were being honest.
And then, she was smiling again, but more mischievously as she spoke. It was a different side than what he'd seen so far, and he had to admit, he liked it quite a bit. "Yeah, one can always hope it sucks," he said with a more mischievous grin.
Oh yeah, there was a menu, and he should probably be looking at it instead of at Zoe's...figure. Right. He looked over the menu, wondering what to get. Though part of him thought about getting something deliberately disgusting, he didn't. Instead, he looked for something that caught his eye. Hell, he was going to give this place a fair shot, after all. Then, if he didn't have a reason to come back, he'd take his chances.

"True..." he murmured, thinking as he sat back in the chair. Probably best to wait until after dinner before trying that little trick. Besides, if the food was good, then maybe he'd better not. After all, he'd like to be able to return to this place if he liked it.
"Well, attention's sort of easy to come by when you're the class clown," he said with a slight shrug. He never really was a 'model student' or anything of that nature. "Let's....see how the food is before I do anything that could get us thrown out," he whispered, winking just a little.
Part of him hoped the food sucked; that would make the date much more exciting, wouldn't it? Hopefully there'd be no cops of anything of that sort.
...She really was a smiley one, wasn't she? Not those half-smiles or smirks like he was known for either. This was either a really happy young lady or she was advertising for a great dentist.
"Well, that would be the point, honestly. I always wondered if my mutation counted as smoking in public. There was a grin that came with that. No teeth showing. Slightly mischievous. " Approval or not, everyone would find it entertaining. And here's why. No matter what the outcome, I'd be the subject of every phone and dinner conversation tomorrow. Maybe even catch some buzz around the office water fountains." That....would be interesting, wouldn't it?
She did the talking, and that was just fine. He walked with her deeper into the restaurant, and when their arms had to separate, he sat down across from her.
You know you've got some pent-up aggression; some anger to deal with that can only be solved by punching someone in the face. Or maybe you just want to fight for the sheer enjoyment of fighting. Well, I've got the perfect opponent for you!
Two, actually.
Blaine Sinclaire: 36, former MMA fighter who never made the big-time due to his mutation. Currently he's in a dark place, on the verge of a mental and emotional breakdown. Struggling with his inner ruthlessness, this would be a good chance to push two chars to their limits.
Dante Schuyler: 23, tattoo artist trying to etch a life in the big city. Sometimes plays guitar in the park for tips. He's small, but got a smoking-hot temper(see what I did there?) so this would be a good way to fight just for the sake of it.
If interested, contact me and we'll iron something out. If more than one person wants an opening, we can always degrade into a free-for-all!
If violence doesn't suit you...PM me anyway! I'm always up for a good thread.
Disclaimer: Neither of these guys would reasonably fight a woman or someone inder 18.

He noticed her looking at him, and though he really didn't understand why, he didn't say anything. Hell, they were her eyes, she could look where she pleased. Not like he wasn't stealing a peek at her when he had a chance. Though he wasn't good at showing it, he was in a pretty good mood, all things considered. He edged just a little bit closer. It was rather nice, the way she'd made contact, and though he wasn't sure what led him to ask her to do this, he wasn't complaining.
"Well, I don't mind heat," he said with a slight shrug. "Maybe I won't take a bite and blow a cloud of smoke for everyone to see afterwards," he teased dryly. That would be kind of amusing, after all. "I think this'll be just fine."

He jumped slightly as he felt her arm hook in his, but it made him smile. It was different, but not necessarily a bad thing; he'd just been sort of lacking in the physical contact department for awhile.
Lighten up? "I thought I was pretty light," he said with a slight shrug. "Just thinking. Never had it before, so I don't really know what to expect." He looked over at her; she did seem really sweet. Maybe there was more goodness in the world than he'd thought, or maybe not. Even still...he was enjoying her company.
It may have seemed weird of him to think this: but he'd just take Duke's word for it. They made it into the restaurant, and he looked around, having grown used to their arms being linked.

Some may call it easy going, some would call it aloof, but Dante just wasn't really bound by the same structure as other people. He wasn't one for rules, or the way things should be done. The only exception to this was when he was working, but that was another matter entirely, and even then more of the optional structure, he'd sort of done away with. As long as what needed to be done was done and everything was in order, then nothing else really mattered, did it? He didn't think so.
He looked to where Zoe was pointing. Indian. Sounded promising. He couldn't remember eating Indian food before, and the prospect of something new intrigued the young smoke-manipulator. He nodded after thinking for a moment. "That sounds as good a choice as any," he finally said, walking towards the restaurant, making sure she was still in tow. It was shaping up to be a rather interesting day. He just hoped there weren't anymore idiots like the one earlier to come along and muck it up.

Maybe he overshot the time, but that came with his profession; it was important to leave enough time to account for anything unforeseen. Honestly, Dante didn't know what this was; all he knew was that he was hanging out with a cute girl he met in the park. Besides, not even he could be isolated all the time, even if he did keep pretty well guarded. Maybe he couldn't keep his guard up forever, but he was damn sure going to try.
"We can try something different. Just sort of see where this takes us," he answered with a shrug. Sometimes it was nice to throw structure out of the window and just go where the breeze carried you. Really, that's what he was doing by not being holed up on the couch all night. He stuffed his hands stuffed in his jacket pockets as his eyes scanned the streets, looking at the different signs and buildings.

"I'd been interested in drawing as long as I remember. I'd have rather done that than sit in the more academic classes. Art, music and gym always appealed to me more," he said with a shrug.
He never once thought about his table being a crate. Honestly, he didn't care; if it worked, it worked. Besides, it wasn't like anyone was going to be judging his house or anything, right? Leading her to the door, he held it open for her, giving her a quick check-out before closing the door behind them and moving to walk beside her.
"Yeah, probably shouldn't take more than an hour or two, depending," he said with another shrug as they stepped out into the not-quite-cold, not-quite-Springy air. He'd still have to get used to this damned weather, that was for sure.
