The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

The older X-man fumbled for his X-communicator in his pocket so that he could use it's new function to open the gates without having to be in the security room. "Well, y'know I usually got this... I dunno... Kinda... Sixth sense sorta thing goin on... Um... Not like, the "I see dead people." thing, but... Well, I guess I feel things moving. I noticed that there's... Well, Like, a bubble around you. It's strange. So... You know it's like.. almost eerie... Like, a perfect circle. Hell, I know when you're in the next room causa it."
He paused for a second as they were about to walk out the front door. "That Ain't wierd is it? Is it the same for Sam? You talk to him about it at all? He's got that heat vision thing goin on."
Saphirus shrugged and continued walking. Their young associate was way ahead of them; he didn't seem to like being around Mama T's power very much. Saph could see the pros and cons, personally. For example, if he wanted right now, he could JOG to the gate.
Jog. No hobbling. That was pretty awesome. Then again, someone could punch him in the face with no fear of having the blow land harmlessly on his right side.
That was less awesome.
What was even less awesome than that? The sight of the woman at the front gate. Saph froze in mid step as she came close enough to recognise. "No way... I- I mean, Sorry, I'll get the door." He was clearly shaken, though he was quick to explain it away. "yeesh, it really is strange, getting used to not having my powers, you know? Well, I guess not, huh?"
He kept his eyes on Alli as she explained why she was here... She knew Cafas, and Megan? The world was too small. Act natural, Saph. You've never met this woman. That was the Judge.
"Lemme get that gate for ya. I'm sure we can find him. Hey, Kevin, I think the kids were gonna go hang out at the pool. We can help... Oh, I'm sorry, I didn't ask you your name. This is Gemma, and i'm Saphirus. Wierd name, I know. Long story! What brings you in looking for Cafas?" He stayed a comfortable distance away as he cued the gate to slide open.
"If you're a mutant, you'll notice your powers won't work when you get closer... Don't worry about it."

"Oh jesus, would you just shut up already?! I got half a mind to slap some sense into you, kid."
The little girl went limp, and he grumbled as he faltered a little, still hanging on. With one mighty heave he lifted her over his shoulder and continued toward the other edge of the roof.
"HELP! THIS MAN IS TRYING TO ABDUCT ME! SOMEONE CALL DATE LINE!"
He'd made it to the edge of the roof, and then, hearing that, he dropped her to the ground, and stared intensely into her eyes. "Is this some sort of game to you?! Do you have ANY idea what you've done? People are going to die because of you!"
Already the chaos was showing signs of intense scuffles and attacks. If one looked closely, the color red would definitely be present.
"I should have you put in jail... Tried as an adult. But you're just a stupid goddam kid! So I'm going to take you somewhere for mutants, like us, and you're going to tell me who gave you that weapon. Do you under stand? It's that, or PRISON." Not that they would be so different.
This @#%^ was unreal. Seriously. These things only happened in crappy late night cartoon shows and bad, bad movies.
She pulled two gun on him. two. Not one. TWO. Where does a child get two guns?! Hell, where does a child get a FREAKING GRENADE LAUNCHER?!
"Do ya feel lucky, punk?... Well, do ya?" He walked toward her, still rubbing his eyes with one hand and clenching the clone's ear with the other. "Not at all."
She then pulled the trigger, and he admitted he flinched a little as red sauce came flying at him... It all missed because you really can't hit a damn thing with two guns aimed sideways, but he decided not to comment on it. It was too stupid. Similarly stupid was her trying to fling herself from a building in order to escape onto the crowd.
At this height she had to understand that she might as well be jumping out onto concrete. Concrete that would die when she hit it, too. He snarled as he sprang forward, letting go of the clone in favor of grabbing the back of the girl's shirt as she started to fall.
With a harsh yank he pulled her back onto the roof. "That's it. You're coming with me. You need some sorta help, kid." He adjusted his grip to her arm, and then started dragging her toward the roof's exit. "Jesus, how do you even get close to this messed up? I was freaking HOMELESS and I wasn't this bad."
"It's okay. Whatever your question is, ask away. It's okay to be curious. I promise. Believe me I have had the talk with plenty of mutants before."
He stared at her for a moment as she graciously met his bumbling curiosity.
"Oh. Oh thank god. You know, everyone always says you're really nice. Guess I shouldn't have been nervous, huh? Yeah... So... Well, I'm not even sure where to start asking! Oh, I know! Do y-"
"Hey hey! So there's this lady outside, her hair was all red and stuff, and I was talking to her about all of my friends and telling her cool things about them because I wanted her to know how great it was here because she seemed nice and I thought it might be cool if she could stay here or at least come inside and look around if she doesn't want to stay. I didn't ask her. Do you think she would like it here? Oh right, you haven't met her! She was looking for a friend and she said that my friends sounded interested, which is I was wondering if you thought she would like it here, which probably gives you a little more context because then it would make sense that she might like it here and can you open the gate please?"
Saph's mouth didn't close as he stared at Kevin. Gosh... It never stopped surprising him. He could talk forever. It didn't stop. It was like some sort of polite and distracted carpet bombing of words... And you couldn't really hate it, because he was a nice kid; he never got in trouble, and he even tended to have a calming effect one some of the more... outgoing and destructive students.
"Oh... uhm... Yeah, Kevin. We'll open the gate... Just don't talk to stangers, okay?"
"Kay thanks see you later bye, I'm gonna go and tell her the good news and maybe ask her if she wants to play kickball, I bet she likes kickball, most people like-"
Saph looked over as Kevin went on about kickball. "Hey, uh... I gotta get the gate, but if you don't mind coming along, we can chat... I mean, if it's not inconvenient for you. I- eh- I understand if you've got other stuff to do." He stood and headed toward the exit as he talked, knowing that most people didn't like to be kept waiting too long at the gate.
So... yeah... This was a happy gathering, wasn't it?
I mean, yeah, there were some issues. There was that whole EVERYONE HERE IS A F#%^ING RACIST thing, but what was a little racism among SERIOUSLY F#%@ THESE PEOPLE. Nope... don't react badly. They would be family soon. The kind you never visit, sure, but family. Keep it together. All he had to do was keep it together.
His hand wandered over to hers underneath the table. She'd never met any of these people either, right? This had to be hell for her. He looked over to her to try and give a comforting smile; it ended up being a mix between than and a grimace.
"I'm starting to think escaping would have been-"
"Now you see here you, she--ENOUGH!--ISN'T EVEN MY DAUGHTER!"
...
"..."
...
Shit
"What's that mean, mah?" The younger cousin spoke up, but was quickly shushed.
"It means we should go, honey."
"No... It doesn't mean that. You. You ruined this night by coming here. You ruined my marriage by being born. Y-you're a sin, and, and I WANT YOU OUT OF THIS H-CRACK"
Oh... Oh more shit. He'd just punched him. He'd just punched her dad! Wait, no, he didn't punch her dad. That made it a little better, right? OW OW OH GOD, OW, he'd punched him with his cast arm!
Most of the family just sat there, he was standing, his arm throbbed angrily as he looked about. "You people... You're the goddam monsters. You don't deserve to have this wonderful woman in your life. Andrea, let's go home. To the mansion. And... And you know what? Let's get married. Let's get married and start our own family. These people can rot for all I care."

I mean, right now, my power ain't workin, and, cause, like... Well, If ... No, no, that's not a good example... Like... What if... no... Uhm... Yeah. Can you turn it off, I guess?"
Smooth. Go talk to the adapted, Saph, it won't be awkward, Saph, No, not at aaaallll.
"So... I ain't good with words. You... Prolly noticed that, and I'm just sayin, with security bein my job an all. Like. What if someone attacked and... I ain't sayin you're dangerous or nuthin, don't get me wrong, I just... How are you doing?" How are you doing? Really? How are you doing. That's what he could manage.
Part of the problem was that he just didn't talk to the adapted known as Mama T much at all. Sure, they passed each other in the hallways, and it made him nearly fall on his face every time, but they'd never talked about her... Anti-mutation before. She probably got a lot of strange questions, and he felt like a dope awkwardly catching up to her while she was going for a walk.
Ever since that incident at the bar he had some questions. He was sure that guy was what Mama T was; She interacted with his sixth sense in the exact same way; He'd met someone else similar, though not as powerful in the past, and it worried him, to be honest. How many of them were there? Would she know?
She was worse off than he'd thought at first... They would be cutting it close. Blood dripped from the bottom of his mask as he leaned down to grab her arm, and found he barely hand the strength to move it... He was dizzy.
Well damn.
He very nearly fell right forward onto her, righting himself just before he pitched forward. No leaning... He would have to crouch... Lift with his legs... Yeah, that was how you were supposed to lift things anyway, right? He crouched, and fell right onto his ass, coughing up some more blood in the process. A hand reached out and grasped her arm, pulling it over his shoulder slowly as he righted himself to a crouching position once more.
"C'mon... Not lettin you get away this time... Never again."
If he even survived... The world felt a little more distant than normal. He felt something... Someone running. The woman in the storage room? What the hell? Why was she running?
Not far behind her, the reason why became clear. A man stumbled through the back room door, his jaw hanging uselessly, a loaded double barrel shotgun in his hands.
"THUCHEN THREAKS!" He aimed his gun at the fleeing girl, and pulled the trigger. The Judge was in the way before it happened; He refused to let his failing body prevent him from saving her. BLAM! Both barrels went off...
And then nothing happened. 18 inches from the Judge, a shower of pellets hung in the air, and then fell to the ground... The giant metal man rushed forward, grabbing the loose jawed man by the face, and slamming his head into the wall with enough force to flatten it. He then started punching what was left, letting adrenaline and rage fuel his actions for god knows how long... How many punches.
By the time he looked back, the girl, and Megan were both gone.
"Saph, no... Matt... I need to talk to him, let me explain."
Wait a second... Wait a goddamn second!
It... It all made sense, now.
He stood, frozen in place for a second as the man let Andrea go... She'd been holding him back, hadn't she? This scruffy looking man; somewhat similar to himself just a few years ago...
How could he be so blind?! Another man answers her phone? He finds them in a secluded area, with their arms wrapped about each other...
She was having an affair!
His fists clenched tightly, making the crowbar in his hand shake violently... And then...
And then.
Saphirus started bawling like a wee little schoolgirl. He fell to his knees and blubbered like a mess. "Y-Y-Y You're leeeaaaaveing m-m-mEEEEE Aren't yoouuuuu! Wh-wh- I CAN CHAAAAAANGE!"
The grown ass man in tights scuffled on his knees toward her, big crocodile tears leaping from his mask left and right.
"WHAAAIIII!!!?! DOES HE LOVE YOU AS MUCH AS I DO?!" He stood suddenly, pointing at Matt. "YOU! You... You... look familiar... Oh... Sh- Wait you're leaving me for him?!" The rose... The statue. Of course. This had been going on for a while, hadn't it? And he'd felt GUILTY for hurting this man... It was a drunken, desperate mistake, and he'd viewed it as his most terrible failure on his quest to be the best person possible.
If he'd known then what he knew now...
He started bawling again. "WHY HIIIIM?! THINGS WERE GOING SO Whuh-whuh-WELL! Don't You love me?!"

The Masochist was living up to his name. As he came into the Giant's range, the being noticed, and swung. He took a blow that could flip a car to the side, and stumbled off to the side. As the mutant stared for a moment, wondering why his target hadn't gone flying, Cafas was able to slip in and attack his knee.
He had to give it to his fellow X-man, he had balls. With no physical advantage he was brave enough to rush someone who could make him a smear on the road, and smart enough to target a weak spot. That was what it took to be one of the X-men, though. The Giant recovered from the knee shot just in time for Cafas to target another weak spot.
Ouch.
He would have winced for the man if he wasn't busy dropping his shield and crowbar, and holding out his right hand to make a platform for the giant's chin as he bent down in reflex reaction to the low blow.
AAAAAND now for the wind up! Saph spun about his fist dramatically, and clocked the behemoth with all of the amplified energy from the man's own attack. He went heels over head and landed on a crowd of surprised rioters.
"Heh... Nice shot; A little stereotypical to aim down under, though." He chuckled, but was cut short as the crowd responded to them being there... "Crap... Down the alley!" Saph pointed off to a nearby alleyway to hint that it was their best chance to escape the clusteryouknowwhat that was headed their way; If they got a bunch of mutants to chase them, the police line might see some rest as well. He speed hobbled as fast as his legs would carry him, gathering his shield and weapon as he did.
A glance back told him a crowd of mutants was on their tail.

"Who are you? What do you think you're doing?" They were talking... It was shocking how stupid they were... A man just burst into the room, made a mess of the nearest standing person, and the ring leader's best call was to request an introduction.
There would be no introductions.
It only took one glance to find out what had been happening in this room. With that one glance all reason was overshadowed by rage. Someone had needed him, and he hadn't been fast enough. These men-no, they were no longer men; they were parasites to be disposed of- They were going to die.
"Who cares who he is, he just killed Robert! Kill him!"
CRACK! The man was half way through his step forward to engage when the stock of a shotgun swung around and dislocated his jaw. He didn't need his powers to kill these petty f$^#s. A real man didn't need powers, or numbers, or a weak opponent. One of them was approaching from behind; How did he know this? They always did, that's why. He spun around and swung at leg level, hearing an agonized scream as he bent a leg in sideways with the brutish blow. A scream of unbridled rage forced the next one to approach to hesitate; This hesitation meant his death, as the butt of the rifle cracked straight down into his skull. He stood for a moment, not sure how dead he was until he fell.
One was in pain, he tried to stand, but was kicked over. The Judge stepped on his throat with a metal sole, and stood there as he stared intently at the one in charge.
Stephen wasn't stupid. He'd been securing a weapon; A .22 revolver hidden behind a box of sponges. It was a small weapon, but the man knew that enough bullets center mass stopped most people dead in their tracks.
"You're some kinda freak, I'll give you that, but it's over. You die, and I get my way. That's how this ends... F#%^in Mutt..." With that, he aimed and pulled the trigger over and over again.
By the time the six shots were spent, the Judge was still standing. The man under his foot was dead; his throat finally crushed enough not to do it's job. He walked forward slowly, his eyes locked onto the man. Stephen pulled the trigger again, taking a step back. All he got was a click. He pulled it again, his mouth hanging open in desperate shock. Mutant powers didn't work around him! They never did! Why wasn't this man dead?!
The Judge was close, now. Stephen had run out of room to step back. The Judge lurched forward, and shoved the shotgun barrel into the man's open mouth, knocking out some teeth in the process. He then pushed, and pushed, and pushed, until the man stopped struggling, and perhaps ten minutes afterward.
Slowly, the haze faded away. He stared at the dead man at the end of the shotgun barrel, supported only by his strength until the scene made sense. He let the gun go, and they both fell to the floor. A glance down to his chest told him he'd definitely been shot. A wheeze told him a lung was punctured. Surprisingly enough, he couldn't give a shit. He had two.
He turned slowly to see if the woman on the ground was still there, uttering in a gasping breath. "You're not okay... I'm sorry. I failed you."
He then turned, and stumbled toward the door. "I'm... Going to call an ambulance for you... Your friend..." He coughed, tasting copper. "She needs a healer... I'll be taking her..."

W... Was that... Method man?
She was shooting a grenade launcher into a crowd, and singing along to method man.
He pinched himself again.
Still awake.
She started dancing at him; yes, it is possible to dance AT someone. She was doing it right now; it was the dumbest thing he'd ever seen. Admittedly, he faltered. He would have laughed if this whole situation wasn't so goddam tragic.
"Kid, just put the gun down, were are your pa-" BOOMPH!
HOLYSH*TSHESHOTATEARGASGRENADEATHIM! By instinct he caught it, and hat to admit, it must have looked incredibly awesome. And then it started venting gas in his face.
"AAAGH! IT BUUUUURNS!" He tossed the grenade to the side as two more flew wide, and the last one arched over and into the crowd.
THIS WAS THE WORST DAY EVER! He stumbled about rubbing his eyes as the girl accidentally murdered one of her clones, and beat a hasty retreat.
"Get back here you freakin brat!" He tried to open his eyes, but made little progress as he stumbled after her, walking right past the clone with the knife, and grabbing it by the ear in order to tug it along in a painful manner. "I've had enough of this..."

He was bleeding; he ignored it. Red was a common color when it came to battle, and pain was only one detail among many. His fist ached as Cafas set up a beautiful opportunity, and he knocked it into space.
Where normally he would have celebrated such a perfect set up, he instead jumped into a hole two officers were meant to fill, and went on with his business. Another officer fell at his side, and he stood above the man legs on either side of him as one of the paramedics dragged him off, fending off three men while he was at it. A mutant police officer at the other end of the line breathed in deeply, and screeched into the crowd, causing several rioters to fall clutching their ears... Actions like this gave them a brief respite.
"Damnit, there's so many of them... Do we have reinforcements coming?" He listened to his radio, but couldn't make out anything said over the din of the crowd. The police around him fell back into formation, beating the few that breached the lines senseless, and then carting them off like some sort of sick conveyor belt.
Their respite was over. A line of mutants charged in, and one began breathing fire into the line. Saph held up his shield, but felt the intense heat as the flames tried to lick around it. Luckily, A well aimed rubber bullet racked the dragon man's head back, and he fell into the charging crowd, which acted like it never happened, slamming into the shield wall once more. The line facing the anti-mutants was having trouble, too, as incendiaries were strewn about. Feeling something zoom way over head, Saph's eyes lifted to the sky... Mutants were flying through the sky. A glanced downward revealed a very big mutant flinging mutants over the line... damnit, what would they think of next?!
"CAFAS! We gotta stop that!" The line would hold while they were gone, he was sure. With a great burst of collected energy from the crowd smashing into his shield, he opened up a hole, and held it open long enough for Cafas an himself to get through... From there, he hobbled forward as quick as he could, doing his best to beat down everything in his path to the behemoth.

"Tell who ever is shooting those grenades to shot right now!" He screamed over his radio.
Everything went bad from then on. The two crowds went at it, scooping the NYPD away like they were a door waiting to be opened. Saphirus knocked out three people in two seconds as they tried to get at an injured officer. They had to stop this; they had to make everyone calm down... That was getting really hard, though, as grenades kept plopping into the middle of the crowds. He followed one of the errant missile's path and saw their origin; A roof top? They didn't have any officers up there, did they? His eyes widened as a small figure appeared on the edge of the building.
...ohjesuschrist, REALLY?!
Was that a goddam 8 year old with a grenade launcher? Was he having a nightmare? That had to be it; he was asleep.
Pinch.
Nope, not asleep! Wait a second... That girl... She was familiar...
No... No F#%&in way! It was that crazy kid with the bow and arrow! Why the hell wasn't she in juvie by now or something? No, none of that mattered; what mattered was that this chaos wouldn't stop if she was allowed to continue, and they couldn't let this escalate... If it did, it could mean full scale rioting all over the city.
There was only one real option for getting to her fast; Saphirus vanished into the mutant side of the riot, still wearing his NYPD badge proudly. It wasn't long before he found what he was looking for; and exceptionally strong mutant to punch him.
The next thing anyone knew he was flying toward her building with a wild look on his face. He landed on the roof top not far from her location, and turned to her with a steely gaze. "You don't want to do this...Put it down."
