The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

"I wash in pieces, yes," he replied with a shrug. He could wash his upper half without too much difficulty like he would have before his mutation surfaced, but the tail had to be done in sections. "Is not so bad now that I am used to it. I have become very flexible. Is really only a difficulty when shedding."
Being called a model wasn't something he heard very often, but he couldn't say he disagreed with the sentiment. "Is true, I have been very fortunate with my mutation. Not everyone is gaining such beauty when they change." He also didn't often hear that he was modest. Vanity was one of his bigger downfalls. "But you are very handsome too. I think you could also model if you try."
The West Coast certainly was an option. Living by the ocean sounded wonderful. All that salt air and sea water had to be good for his scales and as itchy as the sand might be he bet it would really help with any shedding. "California sounds like a nice place, but I am settled here. It would be a shame to move when I am starting to create friends and a home. Maybe another day."

"Ah, showers. This is something I miss," he said wistfully, once again silently cursing a world made too small for him. "Well, showering I can still do but not all at once. I have not yet found one that can hold all of me." A bath would be nice, too, but even the deeper tubs struggled to accommodate the entirety of his tail.
Aleksandr waited patiently once he realized that Derek was stopping to remove his shoes, continuing alongside the path only once the other young man had come around to his other side. "Dirty I think will still be good look for you," he said, appreciating the imagery that had been gifted to him.
Moving South had crossed his mind the the past, particularly during the times he was confined to his living space for fear of being stuck out in the cold. It was a nice idea in theory, but things like the prejudice Derek touched upon had soured the possibility. "I have had this thought, but New York seems to be mutant hot spot. Even with cold winters it is probably best place for me to be."

Having something sitting in her vision sounded like it would be very distracting, even if she could tune it out for the most part. Aleksandr wasn't so sure he could ignore something like that. The map did sound useful, though. The hunger bar, on the other hand, did not seem so pleasant. Having a constant reminder of how hungry she felt must have been very annoying. He certainly wouldn't want a visual to accompany his rumbling stomach.
"Is almost all muscle, yes," he answered, absentmindedly running a hand over his closest coil. "Is good for climbing and hunting, but not so good for small spaces. Many places are made for humans, so they do not always accommodate someone my size."
His tongue flickered out, unintentionally, as the question was posed. He didn't think he'd ever tried to explain it to someone before, nor had he ever really tried to understand it at length. It simply was. "Is more like taste. Like when you taste a thing that is very strong it also gets into your nose," he said, trying to put it into words they could both understand. "It was strange thing to have to learn, but I do not notice it so much anymore. Is just what is normal for me now."
"Being naked is very liberating," he agreed, also having long considered himself fortunate enough to win the X- Gene lottery in that respect. It wasn't quite on the same level as a human being naked, but it was enough to garner disapproval from some so it was close enough to count in his opinion.
"There is something that is very sensual about it," he continued, swerving from the path momentarily to avoid a particularly sharp looking rock jutting from the ground. "Is not good to spend so much time on concrete and under cloth. We are needing to feel the air and the grass on our skin. Is good for the soul to be in nature."
The next question about his blood had long since puzzled him as well. In all honesty he wasn't entirely sure if he'd fully transitioned from one blood type to another, but given his aversion to the cold he had just assumed that's what had happened. "I am thinking it is cold blood now," he answered, lightly draping an arm over Derek's shoulders. Body heat was always especially delicious, but not everyone would let him get close enough to leech any. "I do not like the cold. Everything slows down and is very miserable. This is why I leave Russia and come to New York. Your winters are not so long."

"You have Meese mother?" That was a... confusing statement. Meese were part of that odd branch of moose weren't they? Aleksandr thought he'd heard mention of them once or twice in the news, but he had hardly paid them any attention. They certainly hadn't been anything about some moose mothering a person, though. That was something he'd have remembered for sure.
"Free is good word for it." He watched, amused, ans Derek spun once they had reached the Park. The gates hadn't closed just yet, so they probably hadn't stayed out too far past midnight. Or else they were getting close to closing hours and had managed to get in before the gates were shut for the night. Not that it particularly mattered. Aleksandr could scale walls with the best of them and in spite of his size he could still blend fairly well once he was among the foliage. Something as simple as operating hours wasn't going to stop him from enjoying himself.
"I like being outside also," he continued, sliding off the path to move through the grass parallel to it. Spending so much time slithering across concrete made him appreciate the time when he could avoid it. It was rough on his scales and even though he lived for the heat, on a hot day the pavement could reach unbearably searing temperatures. "The fresh air is good to breathe and there is no cramping inside of walls. I like it better with the sun, but the stars are beautiful also."

Derek seemed to be getting increasingly hungry as the conversation progressed and flirted with the line of what was inappropriate. Or what was the word that was being used now? Thirsty? Judging by how fast he sucked down most of the remainder of his coffee, thirsty seemed like a fitting term. Not that Aleksandr could blame him. The snake was a magnificent specimen after all.
"Yes, there are many thing about me that are pleasing." Some more so than others, particularly the portion saved for specific encounters. Aesthetically he was always pleasing. Sometimes he envied others for being able to see all of him without having to rely on a mirrored surface. Truly they were fortunate.
The snake man just barely saved his cup from tipping over as Derek leapt to his feet and upset the table in the process. He had to clench his teeth to keep from laughing at the young man once it was apparent that he hadn't hurt himself. He downed the remainder f his coffee to help stifle the laughter threatening to escape him.
"Unless you are wanting to go somewhere else?" he prompted, tossing his now empty cup into the bin by the exit on his way out. He held the door for the other young man once he'd slipped the entirety of his tail out onto the sidewalk. Derek seemed to be approaching some kind of breaking point. Aleksandr wasn't sure how much more the young man could handle before having to call it a night.

Aleksandr nodded along as the young woman did her best to explain what her mutation was. He didn't play video games all that often, but he could remember the common details like the health bar that she had mentioned. It was certainly one of the more passive mutations that he'd run into, but it was still very interesting all the same.
"That is one I have not heard of before," he commented, having noted somewhere along the way that certain more wide spread mutations seemed to have a common theme among them. He had run into a decent amount of elemental influencers and a wide variety of physical mutations, but he couldn't say that he'd discovered a video game mutant yet. "It is on all the time? Is it not hard to see with so many things to look at?"
She wanted to know more about him, too. That was perfectly fine. Aleksandr rarely ever passed up an opportunity to talk about himself or to show off. "I do most things that regular snakes do, but with arms,"he started, "Slither, climb surfaces, smell with tongue, and feel vibration. The tail is good for constricting sometimes and I have venom in the cheeks and teeth."

Aleksandr chuckled at the impromptu miming, retrieving his nearly finished drink and sipping with a shrug. "What kind of handful depends on situation," he replied, a grin playing across his face again. It was so easy to fluster the kid, and so much fun because of it. The expression alone were worth it.
"Hands on is best way of learning, is true." And often the most fun. Being as large and unusual as he was it wasn't uncommon for others to touch and well as look, which he didn't mind as long as they weren't smudging or pulling on his scales. Even just moving about in the world often led to him brushing into others due to his size. More intimate touching was less common, but savored that much more because of it.
Watching Derek struggle to see over the table was amusing, though he did worry a bit over the table's ability to hold its balance under the shifting weight. Having furniture dropped on his tail wasn't an attractive thought. Uncoiling enough to rise to his standing height allowed his upper body to sit higher than the table and allowed him to remove the bulk of his tail from the potential strike zone. "Study will be easier outside of the shop. You are ready to visit the Park now?"

"Technically yes. But is fun to pretend sometimes." His serpentine body afforded him some modesty in certain respects so clothing was no longer a necessity, which as far as he was concerned was just another perk to his mutaton. But even so some people were still a bit scandalized by his lack of dress, though they were often few and far between. He sometimes like to amuse himself by thinking about how they might react to a naked serpent lounging out in the open for anyone to see.
He had to laugh at the accidental slip and quick apology of Derek's. If only the young man knew some of the things running through Aleksandr's head at any given moment he might not be so quick to be embarrassed by what he said. "Oh yes. I hear I am very much a handful. In more ways than one," he replied with a wink.
Anatomy was often one of the first things others were keen to understand about the snake man, which was understandable. Anything that varied from the average human shape was often a point of interest and figuring out how it worked was the best way for people to try and fully grasp it. That was probably why dissection was such a popular trope in some areas of storytelling.
"Is mostly the same as humans on top, except for the head," he answered, absentmindedly running a hand up into the tails growing from his skull. It wasn't as easy as brushing a hand through a head of hair. At least one of the tails always wound up wrapped around a wrist or a couple of fingers. "Flat nose, forked tongue, yellow eyes," he continued, distractedly setting his coffee down to count on his fingers. "The tails do as they wish. There are fangs that retract and venom in the cheeks. The jaw can dislocate."
"The bottom is the snake. Mostly just a big spine, lots of ribs and muscle. Good for constricting." Looking down at himself he ran a hand across his chest as if trying to decide if he'd missed anything. "There are some intestinal changes on my inside. And one or two others, but that is for private discussion."

"Is sometimes lonely, yes. The basement has some company, but is not the same as living on the same floor with someone," Aleksandr answered. From what he could tell the Co-Op was still relatively new so there weren't too many residents yet. He was pretty sure the main floor was devoid of tenets as well, but he didn't doubt more people would move in rather quickly once the building was more well known. "But is nice to have extra space. It allows me also to walk around naked." Not that he was really ever not naked, but it was a novelty that most people living on their own seemed to enjoy.
"Yes, is good to be checked on," he replied again with faux thoughtfulness. He had not missed the little moan that had gotten away from Derek after sipping his coffee. It had very much caught his attention, but he chose not to comment on it. He did, however, entertain the thought of what other sounds he could drag out of the young man over time. "Who knows what kind of trouble a snake like me could be doing all on his own?"
Taking another sip of his coffee he took a moment to contemplate the last question. He was terribly curious about what was on the other young man's mind and it was hard to pass up an opportunity to talk about himself. "Maybe some questions now and some later?" he offered as a compromise, unable to resist completely. "Unless you can't wait until next time, then we will just have to find other ways to entertain ourselves."

"Oh yes, was very painful," he replied in a tone much too cheerful to do the statement any justice. It had been a living nightmare at the time, but the years separating the process and the present had made him much less bitter about it. "Was a long time before I could do normal things again, but I think is a fair trade for the scales." And the awesomeness, as she had put it.
He couldn't help but laugh at her cheeky statement. "This is true." She certainly had a point. There were probably quite a few people that would call him a troublemaker as well simply by being as bold as he was while looking the way he did. But really, what fun would it be if he passed up every opportunity to make some people uncomfortable or exasperated?
So she was a mutant after all. It certainly made sense. What ordinary person would be quite so appreciative of Aleksandr's appearance? They were often impressed, but it wasn't quite the same. "I have played some games, yes. I like the shooting ones." He had found that the first person perspective offered much more opportunities for an adrenaline rush, which he liked. He wasn't so sure what it could have to do with a mutation, though. "Your mutation is video games?" he asked, puzzled but intrigued by the possibility.

"Yes, I think we will." Especially with things like the group dinners set up to keep the residents in touch with each other. Aleksandr hadn't attended one just yet, often preferring less conventional meals, but if they provided an excuse to get to spend time with the other cohabitants and if any of the others were as much fun as Derek he might have to start making appearances.
"I have second floor all for myself. For now anyway." He paused to finally sip from his cup. It was almost too sweet with all the sugar in it, but that's how he liked it. Just cool enough not to burn his tongue, too, but hot enough that he could feel it warming his throat and stomach. Pure bliss in a cup.
The Co-Op was shaping up to be an exciting environment. The last time he'd lived with a group had been at the Mansion and the majority of inhabitants there were children. Living with a group closer to his own age would be much nicer. He didn't have to temper himself quite so much around other adults.
"There are three empty rooms besides mine," he continued with a casual shrug, giving his coffee a few more stirs to get the last of the excess sugar off the bottom of the cup. "Plenty of room if you are needing some quiet or a new bed. I will not tell management if you are sneaking around."

Aleksandr paused half way to taking a tentative sip from his cup. It was a good thing he hadn't taken the sip yet or he might have actually done a spit take. As it was he simply stared at Derek over the rim of his cup for a moment, processing the new information before a wide grin broke out over his face and an amused chuckle escaped him.
"You are living at Honeycomb?" he repeated, stifling the laughter as soon as he could. This was too good. What were the odds that in such a big city with so many bars he'd wind up pairing off with the one guy that he shared a building with. "I live at Honeycomb also. Second floor. I am new resident," he continued, grin still in place.
"I suppose we will be taking each other home tonight," he said, grin widening just a fraction. Derek might not think so, but Aleksandr found the whole thing rather amusing in an absurd kind of way. At least they wouldn't have any trouble getting in contact with each other.

The offer was declined, but Aleksandr decide he'd probably still offer to pay whenever the plans were actually made. Not having to buy clothes for himself meant that any money not reserved for rent could be spent elsewhere instead and he hardly ever minded putting some of it toward date nights. He would have to remember to set some aside to reserve for their dinner just in case it slipped his mind before the date was set.
"If you are sure. I would hate to be keeping someone from a hot meal." There was nothing worse that trying to eat cold food that was meant to be consumed hot. It made him a little chilly just thinking about putting something cold in his belly. Cold on the outside was bad enough, but being cold from the inside by choice was nothing short of self hatred.
Feeling the hand at his back Aleksandr allowed Derek to corral him toward the door and out onto the street. There were a number of coffee shop littering the streets of New York, not all of them good, but the majority were acceptable and easily accessible. A lot of chains had popped up on what seemed like every street corner almost overnight. Most of what they offered hardly sounded like coffee, but they were often the best options for late night caffeine fiends.
After checking to make sure his choice was acceptable, Aleksandr ducked into a one of the chain stores a few blocks down. Maybe they could try for a smaller independent coffee shop another time. The serpent placed an order for a regular coffee with a little milk and a disproportionate amount of sugar. He would pay for Derek's order as well. The least he could do was buy the kid a hot coffee after ruining his dinner plans.
"Your home is nearby?" he asked, savoring the heat from his cup in his hands, but not daring to take a sip of the scalding coffee just yet. "You would maybe like to put away your food before the Park?"

"Coffee it is then." Some fresh air would be nice after being surrounded by so much heat radiating from the bodies around them as well as all the smells and vibrations. A little quiet for his senses was always welcome. The weather had finally warmed up to tolerable levels, too. It was so much nicer having the freedom to be outside rather than curled up indoors under a heat lamp for hours at a time.
"Charming yes. We will see about the animals," he replied, relinquishing his grip on the young man's waist so they could begin making their way off the dance floor. Aleksandr might have been less that human, but he wasn't so easily tamed. The self proclaimed animal charmer might have his hands fuller than anticipated.
He stopped short at Derek's sudden outburst, turning away from the direction of the door and toward the bar. He vaguely recalled a menu order being placed but hadn't given it a second thought once he'd started speaking with the other young man. "Yes, yes, go and get your food. Is my fault you left it, my apologies." Hopefully it was still warm. He didn't know how much time they'd spent out on the dance floor so it was entirely possible for it to have gone cold.
"If it is cold, I will buy for dinner another night and make it up to you," he offered, following Derek toward the bar and peering over his shoulder. It would be a shame if they decided to cut the night short so he could head home and get some warm food in his belly, but Aleksandr would understand.
