The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Gwendolyn took her time exploring the car. She had to make sure she was comfortable yet not comfortable enough. She wanted to be on edge the entire time – people were killed all the time in these boxes. She knew how to turn on the windshield wipers – was it going to rain this day? She hadn’t checked the weather.
In either case, she knew she had to learn how to do this. Charlie was requiring her to do so. The world all knew how to do it. Why shouldn’t she? She bit her lip and gave Charlie a weak smile as she squeezed her shoulder. She nodded with that little boost of confidence. She didn’t like these cars but she could pull through, at least for Charlie.
Gwen’s eyes widened and she turned red and nodded, “Oh. Right. Quite.” She briefly had forgotten about Charlie’s interesting ability to circumvent death. At least Gwen didn’t have to worry about Charlie being actually killed or anything. Although, Gwen wasn’t sure why she felt like she worried about Charlie so much. She liked her sure, and she tended to make her flustered, but… Could it be deeper than just friendship? Gwen wasn’t even sure.
In either case, it was time to drive. She could focus on that. She touched down on the gas and… ZOOM! The tires screeched. The car shot forward. Gwen let out a little squeal and slammed the breaks. Once the car stopped, she put a hand on her heart. She even felt like breaking into prayer. She glanced over at the cigarette smoking Charlie and stared with her eyes wide.
What she'd want to try? Oh goodness, that was a loaded question. What all she did she want to try? There was so much things in this new world she found herself. She contemplated the question, biting her lip, "Um... I'm not sure. I mean, travel is a really great thing I want to do. California, Canada, Great Br-- er, the U.K. France, basically Europe. China. Hong Kong. All the places. And... Food places. I want to eat at all the places. I'm not even sure, there is so much." She sighed, thinking for another moment as she sighed, "Maybe we can go to restaurants together? It is weird going by myself..." She chuckled a little bit.
Gwen couldn't believe the night she had. She fumbled around putting her clothes back on, slipping her dress back onto her. She was at least going to be modest in the stranger's home, despite whatever might have happened the night before. Gwen couldn't believe she had slept the night away, too. Gwendolyn stared as the woman on the bed woke up, letting herself stay... Uncovered. She turned an even deeper red. Gwen needed to get on board with the way people did things in the 21st century - it was her own apartment and it wasn't like she hadn't already seen all of her. Her 1800's self just struggled with it.
>> ”Rest assured, you were excellent.”
She gave a prideful smile, "Well... Thank you." It was a nice little boost to her self-confidence, especially considering it was her first time with a woman. She beamed a little as she sat down on the edge of the bed and felt the tingle of her body as Agnes traced her spine. She nearly shivered but simply sighed in happiness and relaxed a little bit, "It was my first time, so I... I'm glad it was good for you." Clearly, she wasn't sure what to do next. She bit her lip. Should she compliment Agnes? Ugh, new situations, new feelings, new everything.
Gwen knew she would never get rid of the last little bit of clothes she had from her previous life. She sighed as she stared at them, carefully knocking wrinkles out with her hand. Her old dresses, ball gowns, etc were all she had left of her life in 1860. She was lucky they weren't destroyed like most of the train car was. With a deep sigh, she wanted to get them repaired and she needed to learn about modern clothes. She knew about jeans. But what about the fashion? How did someone keep up with the trends? After using this so called 'Google,' she found a quaint little store in NYC that she felt she could do all of those things.
With her antique suitcase (since it was the only one that would fit her dresses in, at least that she had,) she took off to the tailor's store.
She carefully walked into the store, whispering "Hello?" to see if anybody was there. She started rolling her bag in but it got stuck on the door and with a groan, she fought with the door some. Moved the door as up as possible as she leaned over the suitcase, rolling it back and forth.
It took her a few minutes, but she finally got the d*mn thing inside the store. It was a nice little store, too. She wondered if the tailor would have time to speak with her. She probably should have used one of those... Cellular phone things. She sighed as she thought about it - maybe she went all the way to this place and they won't even have time? She bit her lip, still not looking back towards the counter to see if someone was there yet.
She nodded, enjoying the interest he showed. At least she had an interesting story, that was always good she presumed. It was always interesting to see peoples reactions, too. She actually was surprised he believed her. Usually, she had to provide a newspaper article and explain it in more detail. She chuckled and nodded, “Thanks, I suppose. It has been an adjustment but I enjoy this century.”
She nodded again, “Yeah, most of the music was classical. We had a few other songs, like Camptown Races, Molly Do You Love Me,” she shrugged, “there was other music. It all kind of was based on the general classical, though.” She chuckled, “I missed a good century or so of everything.” Talk about culture shock. Good question, though. She wasn’t entirely sure, “I am not sure. I do not really listen to it. Some songs are enjoyable, though.”
She nodded, “Oh, I see. Global jumping? Can you jump into another country? That is amazing!”
Gwen wasn’t ready for this. She did not like these automobiles – huge chunks of metal with people stuffed in them like sardines. She couldn’t believe Charlie had convinced her to do this, but she knew she couldn’t back out now. She was in deep, way too deep.
With a deep breath, Gwen turned the car on. The warm air began to filter out of the vents. Was she even that cold? The blonde woman leaned over her and she could nearly feel the heat from Charlie’s body on her. Her cheeks instinctively began to redden. Dang her and her easily expressed feelings!
She nodded and put her foot on the pedal and took a deep breath. She had to move the shift thingy into drive. Then she had to move her right foot that was on the brake pedal onto the right pedal to move the car forward. She wasn’t going to do that until Charlie told her to do it, though.
She wondered why she could only use one foot, though, “Um… Why can I not use both of my feet for using this contraption?” She was curious more than anything. She was really, really hoping they could just skip this and go get that Chinese that they had talked about. Gwen was not adjusted to the new world of multicultural food, but she couldn’t wait to dig into it.
Gwen was a little surprised that Charlie had let her stay as long as she did. She didn’t originally seem like the kinda gal who would want someone in her space, yet, here they were. She was still in her apartment. Gwen definitely didn’t mind – she was able to stay close to Charlie. Charlie, Charlie, Charlie… Gwen was having some serious confusion regarding her sexuality and Charlie seemed to be the primary reason behind it.
She took a breath and in a nervous, slightly afraid voice, “I… I am not quite sure. I feel certain I will get us killed, however.”
Gwen couldn’t help it but a sly grin went over her face. She nodded as he clearly became interested in her story. She hated telling it some days but loved it other days – maybe the attention? She sighed, “I was on a train and a young mutant lost control of his abilities. Transported me, the train car, into this time. He was killed, though.” It was pretty sad.
She shrugged, “I’m a woman out of time, trapped in the 2017 century. Still adjusting but I feel like this is more of my century than the 19th.”
She watched as the green lights appeared and he slipped his hand through. She nodded, impressed, “Very ‘cool.’” She really didn’t understand these terminologies people used in this time. Why was something ‘cool?’? Shouldn’t it be cold then? At least she knew what it meant, despite her not really understanding the why. “Anywhere? How big can you make them?” Could he just jump through to new places or something? That would be really awesome.
Gwen could not believe what she just did. What just happened. Did she really just do… What does she think she just did? She closed her eyes, peeked one open and stared at the beautiful woman next to her. Oh God, she did. Who knew the 21st century was so tempting. Would she have done this if someone had come to her in her time? She honestly wasn’t sure.
She slipped off the bed and grabbed her undergarments, slowly putting them back on. Her knees felt weak, her body tired yet satisfied. She was in a stranger’s apartment, by herself, and just did the hanky-panky with a woman. She would have been killed in her time.
Yet, here she was. In her undies, her hair a complete mess, sweaty, next to a beautiful woman. She took another deep breath. She probably should have told the blue-eyed woman that she originally born in 1840 since she did just… Well, yeah. She timidly looked back towards the woman and gave a weak, blush filled smile. Where was this place even at? It was going to be fun finding her way back. Yikes.
"Um... Uh... T-that was..." what did she say? Should she say something? Oh god, why did she put herself in this situation, "Fun."
She smiled. Kids were adorable. She was glad she now lived in a time where kids didn't simply die at their young age. She might miss her family from her time, but she definitely was glad for some of the improvements in life.
She nodded and gave Lee a smile, "That sounds wonderful, truly."
She grinned and laughed quietly, "You are quite right about that... It is of endless possibilities."
Gwen had adjusted, to an extent, to the brand new world she found herself in. It was still a bit more on the difficult side of things though, especially with the realization that there were so, so many people. And the towering buildings made her feel slightly claustrophobic.
She nodded slowly, "Quite. It is definitely a new world," she chuckled quietly at the reference. Well, a presumable reference to the discovery of the New World. Maybe it wasn't. Gwen wasn't really sure, honestly. In either case, she sighed, "It is... Better, than I expected at first, though."
She could communicate, mostly, anyway, so she gave a semi-nod, "Kind of. I can whisper in your mind, so you can hear me. However, I cannot read your mind. I can hear you when you speak, though. So just whisper and we should be fine."
She stared at the top of the building. She'd need to find somewhere to sit and relax while she did it. She perked a brow and looked at the photo and smiled at the cute girl, "Oh quite. This is perfect, actually. This is something we might use with her, as well - diaries, pictures of family, favorite items, potentially work-related items if she'd a workaholic, etc."
She took the picture carefully, "I'll go sit over at that bench and enter your mind." She walked over to the bench and sat down, took a deep breath, looked at the photo and... Swoosh, she was in Stephanie's eyes.
"Alright, let's head up. Again, I cannot read your mind, so I need you to speak physically for me to understand." Her voice distinct in Stephanie's mind. Her body sat on the bench, relaxed, her eyes closed yet somehow staring towards the photo of her child.
Gwen couldn't help but give a wide, bright smile back towards Charlie. The smile she gave nearly gave Gwen goosebumps. Her cheeks felt... Warm. It was a weird feeling and Gwen nearly shook her head to get rid of the strange feeling.
She had to think about how she felt - she still felt overwhelmed, unaware, and well, alone. All of which was true, but she knew she wasn't entirely alone at least. Was she hungry and tired? She felt weak. And she honestly wanted more whiskey, but that might be an inappropriate comment at the current time. She'd already had a couple shots - she didn't want Charlie to think of her as unladylike. With that in mind, food did sound good, "I am a little hungry, honestly." Tired, too, but she didn't want to admit that yet. She wasn't even sure if she'd be able to sleep.
She watched as a large man appeared. Gwen's eyes widened a little and she slinked behind Charlie, in an attempt to hide away. She knew he wasn't a danger due to Charlie talking to him, but everything seemed to scare her. It was... Annoying, to say the least.
Gwen nodded quickly at the suggestion of staying with Charlie, "Yes, I would quite love that. I would feel much better being with you." She gave a small, flirty (although not intentional) smile.
She smiled, glad she would be able to help Lee out. Maybe she made a new friend today?! What a crazy coincidence. The world was a wild place to live in, indeed. She perked a brow, a son? He had to be young, Lee looked pretty young. “Oh, a son? How old is he? That is wonderful, I am so glad to hear.”
She gave her cell phone number to Lee after checking it on her phone – she hadn’t remembered the numbers entirely yet.
She smiled, appreciating the compliment although she didn’t quite understand the sell yourself short part. What did she mean? She wasn’t about to sell herself – no one in their right mind would sell themselves, heck, in her time, a whole war was raging over that question. In either, she hoped that she might be good at something without even trying. “Maybe you’re right… I should try more things.” She said, more to herself than to Lee.
Gwen followed Agnes timidly out onto the huge roof of the crazy ridiculous structure that humanity decided was a good idea, back in what? Early 1900’s? She shook her head. If she hadn’t been dragged out from her time, she actually would be reaching old age when these huge buildings began getting built. That was a wild idea in her mind.
Instead, she is 100’s of years into the future, young despite her birth year, and they were as common as potatoes. It was pretty wild, really. She was beginning to enjoy being in this time besides the usual missing of her family, her home, her community. She hadn’t even visited Boston. And worse of all, she still couldn’t find any information on her family.
Gwen nearly died on the inside when Agnes came up to her, touched her hands, actually held her hands and began tugging her away. There was no backing out of it. She did ask for this, after all. She took a deep breath and followed Agnes, carefully, slowly. She could at least be cautious – granted, there was several security precautions in place to keep pedestrians and tourists from falling over the edge. She really was in no danger. But the thought of it was… Scary.
Once they were as far as they could get, Gwen cautiously looked out over the city. It was a breathtaking site, despite the height, the scariness of it all. She glanced back to Agnes as soon as she turned back to her. Gwen let out a small smile.
She nodded slowly, waiting for Agnes to finish her sentence. She was terrified of the height, but… She was also nervous due to the attractive woman who was caressing her hand.
She cracked a smile at the end of the sentence, “I-I know. It’s just… We didn’t have these type of things, where I am from.” Well, from when she was from would be more appropriate, but that would be opening a whole can of worms.
The boy didn’t seem like he was about to throw something at her and run, so that was a huge plus. She was mentally kicking herself in the head for even approaching him. What if he had a gun or had a dangerous power? He could probably kill her easily.
She watched him carefully, trying to determine his next move based on his facial expressions. He seemed to be pondering his next words. Maybe he didn't want to confess? It's not like she was going to turn him in. She was just curious. Curiosity killed the cat, though, didn't it? She nervously bit her lip at that thought.
Sharing secrets? She sighed and kicked herself mentally. She needed to be careful about how she phrased things. Most people knew there was something off but she really blew it with the whole time comment. She sighed, pulled a chair out, and sat down in front of him. “I accept your offer.” She put her hands over one another in the chair as she thought carefully about what she would say, “I was born in 1840. No donuts in the 1800’s.”
She shrugged nonchalantly, awkwardly trying to bring the conversation back to him, “So, how’d you do it?”
She took a donut from one of her dozens and took a nice, savory bite into it. Mmm.
