The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

The silence that followed was almost unnerving. Almost; Jay'd been in some less-than-legal activities before, though it was usually the basic theft, breaking and entering, that sort of thing. So he wasn't quite as unsettled as someone else might have been. After all, he had an ace in the hole that most people couldn't say they had.
He took in the sights and sounds of the city's night-life, though still watching as Red did most of the work. He was alert, that was obvious. When his partner finally spoke, he looked over with a nod, his arms folded across his chest. There wasn't much he could say; he was just there to learn the ropes, after all.
He followed, still silent, the little hairs on the back of his neck standing on end as they drew closer. Okay, so maybe he was a little bit on edge, but that was to be expected, right? He wasn't tense, or obviously frazzled in any way, but he had this strange feeling in the pit of his gut.

Jay nodded as his acquaintance..."Red" spoke. Okay so they were making not so obvious nicknames? Jay could play that game too. "Just call me Wild Dog, then," he answered, realizing they'd never actually exchanged, but Red and Wild Dog would just have to do.
He listened as Red spoke, taking in the other mutants' instructions. He seemed sort of...jaded or something, but it wasn't Jay's place to say anything about it. After all, he was still just the new guy, and didn't have any sort of pull. Besides, he knew Red was the one with the experience, and both men were more than okay with him taking the lead.
He let the comment slide, after all, he was thinking that he was lucky in that Poseidon didn't just waste him too, but he wasn't about to say that out loud. Sure, Jay was just feeling things out right now. It seemed as though he'd fit in here, but the fact of the matter was, he really didn't have much choice.
"Sounds straightforward enough," he said after a moment, adjusting the gym bag on his shoulder as he walked.
Favorite piece of ass? Jay nearly choked on his drink at the response, his coughing turning into laughter once he could remotely breathe again. But once he had his composure, he had a retort of his own. "Well, I think the cops got your piece," he said dryly, a smug smirk on his face as his eyes focused on Red.
He hadn't made it back to the healer yet, but he didn't show any concern. Jay wasn't sure if he really didn't care, or if that was just the other mutant's demeanor, like how the canine-shifter hid behind his jokes. He took another sip of his drink, his eyes scanning the room. "Well, you take care of that shoulder, alright?" he said, some genuine feeling behind that last remark as he took yet another swig, then gave a wave of his free hand in farewell as he started to walk away.
The blond didn't really have any destination in mind, just sort of wandering aimlessly until he ran into someone else to talk to. But before too long he was going to need another drink.

He chuckled as she played with his hair; she was right, it could prove....fun. He gave her that all-too familiar mischievous grin as they kissed.
And then, in a fit of something that Jay didn't normally do, the conversation turned more serious. To be honest, he liked the idea of living with her. Liked the idea of them coming home to each other every night; they made good company. He chuckled at her response. "Yeah, I really don't think moving in here would be the best idea. I mean, not the best neighborhood, and it's pretty small," he said with a light laugh.
He didn't know what she was thinking, but really, he was kind of thinking the same thing...

Jay continued watching the exchange, but then as the creeper blond woman started to walk towards the water fountain, he plopped over his belly, enjoying the sunshine again. Besides, maybe the drama wasn't over, and he did have to make sure he was acting 'doggy' enough. Yeah..that woman was the creepy one, yet he liked to spy on people in shift. But it was different because he wasn't going around feeling anyone up.
And then...the woman was addressing him, and he wiggled on his belly a little as she spoke. Creepy or not, she was pretty. And gave damn good belly rubs. His tongue lolled out of his mouth as his leg kicked a little from the rubbing. He couldn't exactly answer her, so he just kept up the act, tail wagging happily as he sort of positioned himself to check her out a little. No harm in looking, right?
This is what the canine-shifter was talking about. Sure, he was still a very fresh face in the Syndicate, but this was definitely a perk. Especially since his first job went sideways. That...was definitely a pain in the ass. Pun intended. He was wearing a dark green, short sleeved dress-shirt, and a very nice pair of black jeans. If one didn't look twice, they'd think they were dress pants, but they'd be wrong. To top off the ensemble was a pair of dress shoes, and his gym bag slung over his shoulder--hey, he never left home without it.
He had a drink in his hand as he looked around, his keen senses taking in the smells and the sounds; this was a hell of a way to get over the failure of the other day. While some may sulk, Jay planned to party it up.
He saw a familiar red-skinned face--hell, the only face he recognized here so far, actually. Walking up to Khalil, he flashed a grin. "How's the shoulder?" he said, verbally jabbing just a bit. Nothing personal, it was just his coping mechanism.

He too, closed his eyes, enjoying the closeness, just the intimacy of the moment. Curled up on the couch, just the two of them, no worries about anything for the time being. The problem Jay'd left behind would still be waiting when he got home. Whenever that may be. If this moment had lasted forever, Jason wouldn't have complained; it was nice. Perfect, even. Sure the apartment was barely fit to live in, if at all, but...it was still perfect.
Her voice eventually broke the silence, and he smiled as he opened an eye to look at her. "I'm not sure, honestly. All I know is I don't plan on going home tonight," he murmured, wrapping an arm around her to rest on her waist.

The scene in the park had not gone unnoticed. There was a golden retriever not far from the bench, gym bag wrapped oddly on his back as he sort of lay under a nearby tree, enjoying the rare bit of sun as wind ruffled his shaggy golden fur.
But the dog's blue eyes fixed on the scene. He'd heard every word, thanks to his hearing, and he thought the couple was rather cute. Different. Interesting even. Then, the gargoyle-girl lay down, and some other chick came up. Sure, all the girls in this little exchange had been attractive in their own way, but he couldn't really think about that. He was happily taken after all.
But this was rather interesting as the blond woke up the gargoyle--by accident. What the hell had she been doing? Why--you know what, maybe it was best that he didn't ask. Some people were into weird ****, and others were just off their rocker.
His head tilted to the side. There was a water fountain not six feet from him, maybe twenty feet from her. Well, it wasn't a bad lie. Wasn't a good one either.
The shifter just stayed still, intent to see on how all of this played out.

Jason's gears were turning; in time he'd know more about her mutation, and thus he'd have time to find a way around it. But for now, the two bedroom seemed like a good bet. They could coexist, that he knew; they'd been doing that since they got together.
He relaxed against her, listening as she spoke. He thought carefully, smiling a wide grin as he thought about how his life had changed since they'd met. It was rather amazing, to be honest.
"Everyone needs something to look forward to; to hope for. For me, that was you. I just didn't necessarily realize it the first time I saw you. But now...I wouldn't change anything," he murmured, his voice almost a whisper.

While Jay was no stranger to being out late, this night was a bit different; he wasn't out for a pleasurable evening stroll, nor was he on his way home after a gig. Tonight, the work was just beginning, as he was walking down the street, his black jacket zipped tight, his blue jeans without a single rip, and his white sneakers topped off the outfit. His keener hearing and smell took in the sounds and smells of the night-life, the more shady side of the city. A side the canine-shifter knew all too well, though now it wasn't for his own amusement anymore.
He looked to the red-skinned mutant next to him as the relative silence between them was broken. Jay wasn't silent on purpose, he just wasn't really good at breaking the ice with another dude. Not really his preference. "Yep, this is honestly my first official job since I was recruited," he said with a chuckle. That was why he was quiet.
He was taking in everything; he didn't want to **** this up, as Poseidon didn't seem the type who took well to failure. And from what he gathered from their first meeting, 'no' probably wasn't a word that the boss took kindly. So this struck him as a time to keep his eyes open and his big mouth shut.
The city was prepared for the more shady dealings of the night; windows barred, doors locked tight, that sort of thing. The only difference now was that he wasn't doing this sort of thing independently anymore.
"Though, really my recruitment was pure luck," he said, trying to make conversation. Though he wasn't sure if it was good or bad luck that contributed to this. "I was busting up a dog fighting ring. Just so happened Poseidon was busting up an M operation in the same building....we kinda met in the middle. Literally"
"Well, maybe we can make use of some of it," he murmured, winking mischievously. He wrapped his arms around her as they kissed, and he closed his eyes.
He lay back when the kiss broke, and her noticed as her brow perked. Maybe now was as good a time as ever to state what he was thinking. They'd gotten this far from him going out on a limb, after all. Besides, what harm could it do?
"Hey, Zelda," he said, thoughtfulness in his voice as he pondered. "What would you think....about moving in together?" He sat back, looking into her eyes after he spoke.

"I'm glad you went along with it," Jason murmured as he leaned into her a bit. "You know, my job has made me quite gifted at finding ways around things," he said with a smile.
When the kiss broke, he leaned his head against her shoulder. Just the two of us. He loved the sound of that. "I like it too. Whatever becomes of all of this...as long as it ends with me and you together, I'm happy," he murmured softly, kissing her cheek.

He nodded at her words, looking at her thoughtfully. "You may not be letting it rule you, but the neat thing I've learned about mutations is there are generally ways to work with them," he said, her no not really getting to him this time. He knew her motivations after all, her heart.
"Yeah, I'd be up for something like that. We'd share a decent living space, but with our own private rooms to sleep so you don't have to worry about siphoning too much from me," he said softly. He smiled at her question, chuckling a bit. "What I had in mind, was you having somewhere to live that I didn't have to worry about the roof caving in or something. What I had in mind....was somewhere where we could be together. Just the two of us," he murmured softly, leaning in to kissing her again.

The no cut a little deeper than it probably should have. But he listened intently to her words. It had nothing to do with him, but it was her. And she was afraid of what would happen if....if what? He bit his lip and he thought it over for a second.
"You're worried about the energy-draining thing, aren't you?" he asked after a moment. "That's why you never lie still after....you know. I understand, but you don't have to let that rule your life."
He looked at her as he bit his lip again, then broke eye contact and looked away for a few moments. "What if we found something else together? Two bedroom, maybe?" He looked at her again, shrugging. "Or I could just drop it, and you can bring it up when you're ready, okay?" He leaned over and kissed her cheek.

He watched as she grabbed a couple of beers and made her way back over to him. "I know I don't need to," he said softly, his eyes meeting hers with a soft smile. "I want to help, even if it is just for sleeping."
He really wanted to do something for her, not only to make up for earlier, but to show her how he felt for her instead of just telling her. But he wasn't sure how she'd react, though...what did he have to lose, right? After a moment of silence, he looked at her. "You'd always be welcome to move in with me," he said, not making eye contact as he spoke, unsure of how she'd react.
After a long pause, he looked back over. "Or we could find a new place, together..."
