The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Jay was deep into his second beer, just enjoying the feeling of being out, when he was sure he heard a familiar voice nearby. Sure enough, he looked back to see a familiar face in a very stunning number of a dress, and he had to just...admire her for a moment. Hell, the only times he'd seen her she was usually in her work uniform or something equally as casual, so this was rather nice. But from the look of it, she was on a date. Good for her, but damn it all.
Granted...the look on her face was rather...unamused, so he decided to just sit and wait, nursing his beer as he let his keen ears hone in on the conversation. Maybe he could pick up some some more as to where exactly that date was heading.
He wouldn't exactly spoil it, but...hey, he could always sip his ber and hope, right?

Another Saturday night, and Jay found himself at a...well, it was a nicer bar than Wyvern usually played. It was pretty classy, more of a bar to take your date than somewhere to just get hammered. The trio already played through half their sat, and Jay'd had a few beers during the intermission, and he was feeling pretty good. He, Paige and Trish were showing that chemistry they had been gaining them this kind of recognition, and it was looking to be a pretty awesome gig. And the crowd loved the upbeat, rock music they were known for.
Jay was in rare form, his bass thumping through the song as his background vocals complimented the blonde lead vocalist's voice quite well. During one song, he even had his chance to bump out a pretty sweet solo, and he more than willingly obliged.
The set done, the band congratulated each other and went their separate ways for the night, with Jay merely packing up his bass, locking the case and taking it to the secure area in the back, and then he made his way back to the bar. He took a seat, and picked up where he left off by ordering another beer, his eyes scanning the bar.

An hour went by, but he couldn't find anything on her intentions. Jason let out a deep sigh. "So we're pretty sure she wants to get me back for catching her cheating on her husband--multiple times, might I add--but...aside from that...I have no idea what her angle is, sadly."
Jason looked down at Lee as she spoke, and he bit his lip thoughtfully. "Not much, no. There really isn't anything to go on. Unless it took her this long to find me...I mean...ugh..." he lay his head on the desk, thinking. His coffee cup had been emptied several times, but nothing was really helping. "Maybe she just wants to make our lives miserable. I don't know at this point."

Lee squeezed his shoulder, and that made him relax considerably. However, he realized if he hadn't had her, he could just pack up, move to a new city, and start his life over again. But he wasn't alone, and even though having a girlfriend meant that he was going to have to deal with this head-on instead of running, he was glad to have her.
He turned back, watching her go as she made her way back to the kitchen. No matter what happened, he had Lee by his side. Though she never technically returned his 'I love you,' something told him that she did. After all, they'd both packed up all their crap and moved in together. And even through whatever Gladys had up her sleeve...Lee didn't opt to leave. Even now, she was bringing them coffee.
"Well," he said, taking the cup of coffee with a 'Thank you' and a quick kiss on the lips as he went back to his work, "the best reason I can give? She wants to get back at me somehow. She's trying to get under my skin. But I don't know if this makes her really good at blackmail, or really bad at it. I mean...I don't know what she wants from me, all I know is she has me by the balls...." he sighed, staring into his cup for a moment.

Jason knew this woman had him in a tight spot. If she were to get that video out, Jason would be ruined, not to mention Lee. She would be guilty by association whether her being a mutant was known or not. But once the fear and shock wore off, Jason had jumped into action. His adrenaline was surging as urgency set in and he dug through files, both on his computer and in his folder, when finally he came across something.
"There we go," he said, though he wasn't exactly smiling. It was more of a serious expression. "I don't know what we're going to do, but I did find something that will help. Explains what the hell she wants with me, anyway."
He looked over at her before he handed her a stack of notes and evidence he'd gathered. "Gladys Waterson. About a year or two ago I was hired by a Teddy Waterson. Basic follow and track job. I caught his wife, little miss pushy-ass, cheating on him. But...as to what we're going to do, I have no ****ing idea."

Jason sat in silence, face white as a sheet, hands shaking a little as he looked at the evil redhead across from him. He didn't even acknowledge when Lee came in and took the phone. The woman just sat with her cocky, evil smirk as Lee watched the video as well. No one had to say what it was.
"I think you get my point now. You have no say over me. In fact, you're mine. So you'd best behave..." she gave a wink as she stood to her feet. "Otherwise, this goes out for everyone to see." With that, she gave a tender wave, and walked out of the door, letting it close gently behind her.
Jason just sat in shocked silence for a moment after she left. Taking a breath, he looked over at Lee, biting his lip a little. "Well....it looks like she's got me where she wants me," he said before standing to his feet and walking to his desk. "Looks like we have some work to do." Opening his laptop, he opened up save files, then pulled paperwork out of his desk, rooting through stuff, a sudden look of focus and intent in his eyes.

Jason's face turned red as he looked at her. She'd already come close to driving a wedge between him and Lee, and here she was again. Granted, she was part of why they were living together now, but not everyone could be a total waste of breath, could they?
"I don't know, Lee. Apparently she had a friend of hers make an appointment..." he said, disgruntled.
The woman just sat there, a smirk on her face. "You still have a job to do." Her voice was calm. What was her angle?
"No I don't. I gave your deposit back. And I'm going to go ahead and throw this out there: You don't have a brother. I did research. You're an only child. You weren't adopted. You don't even have a step brother. Not even I can find what doesn't exist. So, you have no business here. Get out."
"Oh, but I do have business here," she said coyly, pulling out her phone, typing a little, then putting it away. Moments later, Jason's phone vibrated, and he looked at the message.
The video he saw made his blood run cold.
"You're not the only one with investigative prowess..." she said with an evil smirk.

Jason had to admit, life was pretty damn good. It had been a few weeks or so since he'd moved out of his apartment. And Lee, out of hers. They'd actually gotten one together, and while it was a two bedroom due to Lee's fears about her mutation, Jason was quite happy with the progress they were making. It wasn't long ago that she was unsure that she'd be able to be with someone for more than just one night, and now...they were committed.
The spectacled canine shifter was up early, drinking his coffee and waiting in the living area for a client. Some new person had called him for help, and he of course agreed. After all it was his job, and they needed money. So, he decided to let his girlfriend sleep while he discussed business. Two cups of coffee down, and working on three, there was a knock at his door. Standing up, he walked over to the door. Sure, he was at home, but he was still dressed in a green button-up shirt, black slacks, and nice shoes. He still had to look professional after all.
But when he opened the door, he saw a familiar face with bright red hair, green eyes, and a pushy attitude as she walked right past him and sat on the couch. "What the **** are you doing here?"
"That's no way to speak to a client." "I dropped you; you weren't the one I talked to on the phone, Gladys." He said her name as if it was venom dripping from his lips. "Well, you wouldn't answer my calls."
Jason stood to his feet, glaring as he adjusted his glasses. "Look, you. I told you I didn't want anything to do with you. Now, ****. Off."
"Well, if that's the case, I'd say you were in good company," he replied with a smile as he took a sip of his drink. His eyes were trained on her, but she never looked at him aside from a quick glance at the beginning. The canine-shifter could practically feel the wall she was putting up, but it was no matter. He was either going to break through the wall, or likely wake up in the hospital, but he wasn't the type to give up unless he was told to up front. And as it stood....she never told him to go away.
"Besides, drinking alone at the bar means I'm never too far from my next drink." He caught a bit of an accent from her, too, which made him smile a little wider.
"I like the way you think," he said with a smirk, taking his drink a little more slowly. After all, this was an art that required his full facilities--well, what was left of them. He chuckled at her question, then gave a shrug.
"What can I say? I'm the new kid," he answered with a shrug. "No, but I'm hoping that may change by the end of this conversation." Jay winked, though she still wasn't really looking at him. Maybe his playful tone and southern charm (albeit exaggerated) were helping a little.
"Anytime, bro. But yeah, a healer does sorta compensate for lack of workman's comp. Besides, how would you file for what we do, anyway?" he joked lightly before making his way through the party, drink still in hand. His icy blue eyes scanned the room, focusing in on numerous faces, most of which he hadn't seen before, since he was fairly new to things here. But when he put the glass back to his lips, he came to a horrifying realization: his drink was empty. So, he made his way back over to the bar, setting his glass down and politely waving for the bartender to get him another one.
His drink refilled, he looked over, to see a rather stunning number in a black dress. Not bad at all...this is why the canine shifter loved parties. Hell, so far just the drinks were worth getting shot in the butt over.
"You know," Jay said, letting his southern accent bleed through a little bit as he spoke--even though he'd been in New York so long he was essentially faking it, "It should be a sin for a woman as pretty as you to spend a party like this alone." He took a sip of his drink. "I'm Jay."

Jay's eyes were wide, and his hands were shaking as his tail twitched nervously. Then there was a gargoyle woman approaching him as well as the creeper lady. What the ever-holy hell was going on here? He just hoped it wasn't mating season or some **** like that.
"N-No...I'm not usually like this," he said to the gargoyle, trying to be polite, despite the obvious quivering in his voice. Then, he turned to the other woman, his voice a little less friendly.
"Do I look like I was really a ****ing dog?!? I'm a shifter. YOU did something to me...forced me out of shift...then turned me into..." he looked back at the gargoyle again. "What am I, exactly?" Then he felt the sudden breeze...
Naked. That's what he was. Butt-ass naked.
Turning, he bent over and grabbed his bag, reaching for just the boxers and pants. He figured the shirt wasn't going to work out with the wings...and what about the tail...? He thought a moment, then got an idea. It took some time, and a lot of work, but he put his boxers and his jeans on backwards, getting the tail to go through the fly. It wasn't the least bit comfortable, but it was better than nothing.

Jay sipped his drink, taking in the sights and smells of the club. There were different murmurs, mutterings, but they were mostly small talk. He focused on hearing and smelling because his eyes had a different job; his blue eyes were focused on the red-skinned mutant. Watching his actions, his mannerisms, and how he went about this.
When Khalil's gaze shifted, so did the canine-shifter's, turning to see a woman with a shaved head and a very nice figure approaching them. Showtime. Though it wasn't what Jay had expected, then again he'd watched way too many action movies.
Jay let his friend do all of the talking, as was the plan. It seemed easy enough; straight forward. Granted, the shit hadn't hit the fan, but in perfect condition, it was a piece of cake.

Yeah, it was going to be pretty tricky if things were to get hairy, though he hoped they wouldn't. He knew they could probably handle it, but he didn't want to test his luck. And then Red was making his way to one of the bars; this was Jay's kind of guy.
"You mean besides her?" he answered slyly, slightly teasing as he gave the bartender a mischievous wink, a charming gleam in his eye. "Same thing," he said seriously after a moment, but not before shooting the young lady another hopeful glance. The closest thing he could get to the puppy dog eyes without actually using his mutation.
Sitting across from his cohort, Jay too kept an eye out, but he was more focused on trying to filter out the different sounds and smells. He was mostly trying to filter through the constant buzzing of nearby conversation hidden under the thumping bass. It was by no means foolproof, but he could pick out the occasional choice word if need be.

Jay was used to shady situations, but it was usually just him, and never really anything so....organized. However, as they neared the docks, his keen hearing picked up the familiar sound of a pulsing bass. It wasn't live, but either way it struck him as out of place. Then, he saw the figure under the light, and before he knew it, he was walking through a door behind his new acquaintance.
The inside of the place was much different from what the outside suggested. Honestly though, the inside made him feel more comfortable; this setting was more his forte, after all. Though this was still business, not pleasure.
"Got it," Jay answered, looking around, surveying his surroundings. It was important to survey exits, room layout, that sort of thing, even when not up to trouble. He stayed close to Red, though he wasn't as nervous or tense as he had been.

Creepy or not, this girl gave damn good belly rubs. To bad he was a dog right now, eh? He slightly chuckled at the thought, as the dog's blue eyes closed. But then he heard something.
"Well, here goes nothing. I've gotta figure it out one way or another. Can I bestow to animals too or are you just a wolf in sheep's clothing? Don't hate me if you're the latter."
His eyes popped open. Not only was that super creepy, but what the ever-loving f*ck?!?
Over the course of maybe ten seconds, his body began to involuntarily shift, but it wasn't like his usual shifting. This wasn't instant, though it still only took several seconds, but he could feel his body and muscles shifting and stretching. And something wasn't right; he felt as though something was jutting from his back as his fur turned.....gray and scaly? Horns jutted from his head, and his fingers and toes became more clawed. He hopped to his feet, not noticing his bag had fallen to the ground, the strap torn by the appearance of wings.
He was shaking a little, as he eyed the creepy blond woman. "What the f*** did you do?!?" he shouted, his voice as shaky as his body was.
He hadn't even taken the time to realize that on top of the new mutation, he was naked.
