The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

He smiled gently, wiping her tears in return before brushing her hair out of her face. "Well then it's settled," he said softly, "Nothing, or no one is coming between us," he gave her a wink as they walked the rest of the way to the apartment, and once inside, he noticed...it wasn't exactly a good place to live. 'Not much?' This place should probably be condemned...
He nodded as she spoke, but made his way to the couch--he hadn't brought his jacket because he'd planned on spending most of the time in shift anyway, and dogs had fur to keep them warm. He bit his lip, thinking about what he should say--how he should address this as he sat down, adjusting his glasses as he thought.
"You know...I can possibly help you get a better place, if you want," he offered. "I mean...with all due respect...this one kinda seems to be....falling apart. Unsafe. I understand that the city's expensive and all, but...I really can help if you want it," he said softly, gently. He noticed he didn't answer his 'I love you,' and though he was only recently realizing that he did in fact love her--at least, he thought that was love--he also recognized that actions spoke louder than words in most cases.

He laughed. "Only when you're filling in for a lot of gig bands. And...before I found Wyvern...I was doing a lot of that. So I guess you missed me actually wearing this ****, huh?" he said with a shrug and another chuckle. His brow quirked again as she repeated it was the feather pile she kept.
"No, I'm sure it's the other one. Your nose doesn't crinkle like that when you like something," he said with a smile, kissing her cheek again. He leaned into her a little, taking her now-beerless hand in his, then kissed her forehead playfully. He loved these moments so much, they were so much more playful and sweeter than he was used to before he met her.
But that got him to thinking, and he bit his lip as he let these thoughts somewhat take over.

"Yes, you are," he murmured after the kiss broke. Her grip tightened, and she was kissing him again. He held her close, returning the kiss for a few moments. Finally, he pulled back, looking into her tear-stained eyes with his equally tear-stained ones. "I told you that ***** was just a client. I'd never dream of doing anything with her. And after tomorrow she won't even be a client anymore. I don't want anyone to come between us..."
He took a deep breath as he looked at her again. "I love you," he murmured. He moved so he was on the stair next to her, wrapping his arm around her waist. "Care to head inside, or do you just wanna make out in the hall?" he winked before making his way up the stairs with her.
"Well, I had to come out of pocket for a lot of this stuff, I'm getting what use I can out of it, right? Besides...nobody wants a lightly used feathered costume. Go figure," he gave a shrug, but his face dropped briefly at the mention of the sequins and feathers. Then he shook his head. "Pretty sure the other pile is yours. At least, I kinda hope so," he teased lightly.
He knew by now that she liked to mess with him, but she was pretty good with her teasing. And he didn't mind; not from her, anyway. One of the perks of being his girlfriend. Leaning in closer, he gave her a light kiss on the cheek, his hand that was around her rubbing her arm as he set his empty beer on the table.

She jumped at his touch, and still wasn't looking at him. Great. But then...she kept going. Double great...
He sighed, but he kept following; he wasn't about to give up on her. No way in hell. Finally, finally she turned to look at him, and he was only a few steps below her. He stepped up so that they were practically eye to eye; thanks to the height difference.
He felt a lump catch in his throat as she spoke, and his own eyes were stinging behind his glasses. "No. I don't think you're the girl of my dreams." After a pause, he leaned in, kissing her passionately as tears began to run down his cheeks.
"I'm pretty damn sure you are," he said, looking her in the eyes.
"The cop was a weird cover band. Like...they were trying to be The Village People, I think. I wore that for Halloween two years ago, I think," he said with a shrug, looking over at her.
Sipping his beer, he quirked a brow. "Open to? As in...you're seriously into some of that stuff?" he asked, though it wasn't hard to figure out which pile was the keep pile. The confused look quickly turned into a mischievous grin as he took another swig of beer.
"Learn something new every day...and...I think I like this," he said slyly.
Whatever she was doing, she was being very careful and intent with it. Wait...she seemed to be...sorting it? "I was the cowboy for Halloween last year..." he said with a small smile and a shrug.
She finished, and joined him on the couch, and he slid closer to her, putting his beerless arm around her and snuggling close as he took a sip. "What are you up to....?" he asked as he quirked a brow.

He blinked as she worked, but that didn't stop him from admiring the view as she did so. She was wonderful; sweet, funny, caring, and she had a scary angry-side, which he had to admit was kind of hot. But now she was teasing him. Or she didn't believe him. Or both.
"But I'm not holding out. Those really are outfits from one-off band gigs. I haven't worn any of them many times at all. Just for an odd gig or so before I met my current band. I don't even know what you're talking about." He sighed as he watched her work. He had no idea what she was doing, but there was nothing he could do but wait it out.
She could be stubborn when she got her mind set on things sometimes. But he loved that about her.

He smiled. "Well, you did somewhat inspire me, so I had a lot of help there," he said with a grin in her direction. She was amazing. So amazing that he'd trained himself to not even look at women in the same light anymore. He still flirted a little, but it was harmless, and he had no intention of anything else. He was all hers now. The flirting was just his natural charm.
And then she was going through the closet. And organizing them? What in the hell was that woman up to? Sequins to the right. Leather to the left. Feather-suit to the right. Cop outfit to the left. "Holding out? That stuff has only been worn once, by the way...so I'm not sure what you're getting at," he said with a nervous chuckle.

She never even looked at him, and it made his heart sink into his stomach. He swallowed as they made it to the building, and she spoke again. "Who says I planned on going home tonight?" he said, his own eyes welling up.
"I want nothing to do with her, Lee," he said biting his lip as he put a hand on her shoulder. "She was just a client, but I'm going to drop her tomorrow. I'm not working for her anymore. Not after this. Sure...I'd be giving up a lot of money," he said softly, walking behind her still. "But nothing's worth losing the woman of my dreams over." His voice was slightly shaking.

"The lyrics, I'm not so good at. But the music part....well that's where I thrive. Everything else is kind of a struggle," he admitted. He didn't normally admit this kind of thing, but Zelda was special. They kissed, and as usual it made the little hairs on his arms stand on end as he shivered.
But when he put his bass up, she saw the spandex hit the ground. And then got curious. "Uh...that's um..." And then she reopened the door. Hanging in the closet were all sorts of outfits from various bands and gigs he'd played. These were the...not so causal outfits. There was a cowboy costume, plenty of leather, sequined suits, multicolored spandex, some things with feathers, and even things like chains and handcuffs. There may have even been a cop costume and a few other weird ones hanging in there.
"It's stuff from old gigs I've played, bands I've played with. I never really know what to do with them, so I just...hung em in there. Kinda glad I have a steady band that isn't weird, though," he murmured, going to grab a beer from the fridge, and one for her before flopping on the couch. Either way, he wasn't exactly looking forward to her possible reactions.

When he finally caught up to her, it didn't take Lee long to recognize his dog form. But her words cut him deep; so much so that the elicited a whine from the German Shepherd, and he paused a moment before shifting back to his human form. "If she's still there. I told her to give me a minute to get dressed, then locked her overbearing ass out in the hall," he started, biting his lip as he walked slightly behind her.
"I didn't shimmy down a fire escape just to leave you alone," he said rather firmly. "I told you; she's just an overbearing client...well, as of tomorrow I'm dropping her." He sighed, still trying to keep up with her, though that combined with the shifting was actually proving to be a hard task.

Jay was still lying in bed, as the woman took her sweet time leaving. In fact, not long after, Lee stormed out, looking none too pleased with him. Great. Just great. Then the door shut behind her.
"Seriously. Do you mind?" Jay hissed, motioning for the woman to leave, and she finally did. "I'll be out in a minute..." His heart was racing, and his face was flushed as he crawled out of bed and got dressed. He Then made his way to the closed door, carefully locking it. Then, he made his way to the window and out of the fire escape.
Once his feet were on solid ground again, he shifted into his German Shepherd shift. His nose was assaulted by the smells of the city, but there was one scent he was looking for. One that he was more than accustomed to by now. The blue-eyed dog padded his way down the pavement briskly. He was going to make this right.
Jay loved his new bass; his old one was reliable, but it was several years old, which was starting to show sometimes. He took care of it, but he never could afford to replace it; especially not living in New York. But then Zelda came along. They hadn't been dating long by the time Christmas had come around, but she still shelled out what he imagined was a pretty penny for this bass. That told him that either she loved him too--and also would probably never say it--or she just had a bunch of money lying around.
The canine shifter smiled at her words, his face turning slightly pink as she spoke. "Thanks. It took me a lot longer than I would've liked, but...songwriting's not really something I'm good at," he said with a chuckle as he leaned over and gave her a quick kiss on the lips. Then, he stood up, getting his amp turned off and putting his bass back in the case. Then,he opened the closet door and struggled for a minute to get it in there--after all, there were two basses to keep in there now.
As he did, a blue and yellow spandex outfit fell out of the closet. He nonchalantly tossed it back in there and shut the door. The living room closet, intended for coats and such, was where Jay kept his band stuff, including outfits from gigs he'd filled in for, most of which he only ever wore once.

Jason was sleeping soundly, happily even as he snored lightly. However, he couldn't help but hear distant knocking, and the faint sound of voices. But he continued sleeping. At least until he heard Lee's voice cut very clearly through the peaceful atmosphere. And...it wasn't so peaceful. And the book landed on him. He leaped to his feet, stark naked, only to see his...client...standing there.
And then dove back under the covers. "What the hell, Gladys? I told you tomorrow..." he said, beet red as he put on his glasses. "At least wait outside until I can get dressed?" he asked, glaring at her, his eyes looking back to the bathroom. Just ****ing great...
