The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

"Yeah, it does tend to get me into trouble, heh..." He motioned at the room. "Obviously..."
Granted, he wasn't entirely complaining about the situation now as he subtly slid a little closer to her, acting like he was just settling in and changing position. "Yeah...therein lies my original predicament," he said with a dry chuckle. "My apartment's nowhere near here, so that cuts out running home right quick. And I highly doubt you have something lying around. This blanket isn't likely to stay on forever, so....any ideas?" He gave another sly smirk, maybe flirting just a bit, but he tried to at least keep it subtle. Sort of testing the waters now that things had calmed down considerably.
He looked up at the ceiling, thinking in an attempt to come up with a plan in time.

He nodded. "Yeah, I'm more of a long-term planner, in the scope of things. Going with the flow tends to..." Jay paused, giving a hearty chuckle, "Well, it tends to lead to moments like this, though most turn out worse." Looking away again, he gave another low sigh. "Especially considering I can't shift clothes; my being revealed as a mutant usually ends in awkward nudity, and sometimes, an indecent exposure charge and a court date...." His voice trailed off, remembering the times that'd actually happened.
"Heh, I think he'd like me better as a dog, honestly. And I'd definitely have to get ahold of some clothes before all of that happens. I haven't been caught in...situations like this...around minors, and I'd definitely like to keep it that way, if you don't mind." He gave a sly smirk, but his icy blue eyes showed sincerity.

He nodded, chewing on his lower lip a little as he thought. "[color-87cefa]That's pretty cool,[/color]" he said with a smile. "I've picked up guitar once, but I'm more at home with the thicker strings and straddling that line between the guitar and the percussion," he nodded, propping an arm on the armrest. He looked over at her; he could definitely see her playing piano and guitar.
His eyes lingered on her for a minute, then looked around the room he'd grown acquainted to over the last five days. Then he gave a heavy sigh, shaking his head a little.
"I'm uh...sorry about this whole mess," he finally said. "It really did seem like a good idea at the time." He gave another shrug, looking back at her again. He wasn't going to tell her the truth by any means. Besides, he'd given up on that plan the moment she stumbled in on him naked. He leaned back a little, propping both arms on the back of the couch.

He decided to just unwrap the blanket and let it just cover him. It seemed to work better that way. Besides, he'd relax considerably now that they were having a conversation instead of the initial tension and awkwardness. Well, it was still slightly awkward, but it was at least better than it had been. He scooted over a little as she sat down on the couch as well. It was basically an attempt to keep it from being awkward, despite certain thoughts still buzzing in his head. But he was at least able to not make it as obvious.
He perked up when she mentioned instruments. "You play too?" he asked, his interest piqued. "What do you play, if you don't mind me asking?"
He was starting to settle in, and not as anxious to get out of there. Or maybe he was just letting his guard down. At least it seemed like everything was alright now, anyway.

He nodded slightly, putting both hands on the couch and sort of jumping over so he'd be sitting on the couch like one was supposed to. It worked, however in mid-air, the blanket sort of came loose. He wasn't in a terrible hurry to fix it, but he did, nonetheless. After all, she wasn't comfortable with it, it was her house, and most importantly, he still didn't know what exactly she was capable of. She did have quite the arm; that much, he knew.
Once his covering was readjusted and he was at least what passed for 'presentable,' he thought a moment, looking past her instead of at her so she wouldn't think he was getting any other ideas. "I guess what they say about being your own worst enemy is true, then," he mused. "Though really, I never fancied myself a singer. But when you play bass--or anything that isn't drums or lead--the first thing people want you to do is backup vocals. And I can't say I'm the kind of guy to turn down a bigger paycheck." He chuckled lightly.

"Okay, okay. Just don't throw anything else. I'm dropping it there." Speaking of 'dropping,' he stood up slightly, to sort of tighten up his blanket-toga, as it was starting to slip, and he wasn't really good at making robes out of bedding. Though, it was worth noting that she hadn't tried to kill him yet, and that was something, right?
"Other people don't seem to think I'm that bad, I just really don't like singing in front of people; I don't fancy myself a vocalist, is all. Usually takes more than a bit of persuading to get me to. Usually the bands just promise me more money." He chuckled, shaking his head a little as he shooed away any stray thoughts. After all, she was starting to relax, and she seemed to be able to read him like a book.
Then again, he was a male in his late twenties; he couldn't have been that hard to figure out. Besides, it wasn't his fault he was stuck naked in an apartment with a rather attractive woman. Oh wait...yes it was.

Since he wasn't paying much attention to his surroundings, the stuffed tiger caught him right in the face. It may have been cute, fluffy, and full of cotton, but the hard plastic eyes clunked across his head, rather hard. It wasn't enough to stagger him, but it did leave a pink spot between his eyes.
"Hey, I said I didn't expect it. Though it'd be only fair," he quipped, somewhat quoting her on that one, even if his logic was severely flawed.
"Well, yeah. I started playing when I was little, and I decided to put all my focus on the one instrument instead of the whole jack of all trades, master of none bit. Though I do occasionally do background vocals. Rarely..." He gave a small shrug, leaning forward to prop himself up on the couch. Yeah, he may have been discreetly checking her out a little. No harm in looking, right?

He looked over at her as she motioned to his earplugs, and he took them out, sort of bracing against the noise, but it wasn't so bad now. "Yeah, I could hear the whole time. It's just...well, my hearing is a lot more sensitive than most people. While that's great for hearing things you aren't supposed to hear, it kinda sucks on the other side of things. The earplugs just muffle the sound; make it more tolerable." He gave a small smile.
"My sense of smell is sharper, too, but that's kind of a different story, isn't it?"
As people started to file out, he led her back out to the entrance, bracing himself a little; the cold wasn't unbearable, but it was cooler than it had been when they'd started.
"So, do you have anything else in store for the evening?" He asked with a smile, leaning against her just enough to feel contact.

"I just got caught naked in a strange house while trying to figure out a way to leave," he said, snapping just a little. "So forgive me if I'm a little on edge." This wasn't going anywhere near like he'd planned, and now he was being grilled by the woman of the house.
"I honestly don't care if you know or not. Not like I'll be expecting you to show up naked or anything." Unless she wanted to return the favor. He smirked at this thought, chuckling just a little.
"Oh, I play bass. Mostly classic rock, but I can fit whatever style is needed at the time." Oh, he could feel her judging him. It was something he noticed about a lot of people; you tell them you play an instrument, and they instantly want to know what kind, what music, and of course how 'good' you are. But he didn't mind, because it came with the territory after all.
Besides, maybe if he could impress her, he could turn this whole fiasco around.

"It wasn't really a trick as much as just...playing along," he explained, still lying of course.
"Oh, that's an easy one; my clothes are right behind my apartment building. I guess you could say I found a loophole to the whole 'no pets' thing." He gave a chuckle. "Though, thanks to bad timing, it wouldn't be the first time I was slapped with an indecent exposure." He chuckled again.
And another good question, which deserved more of a half-truth than a full-blown lie. "Oh, I'm a musician. I don't have a gig til the weekend, and I supplement by performing elsewhere and doing side work, so I'm more or less my own boss in a lot of respects." He relaxed considerable, considering she didn't seem too upset anymore.

He settled in when she snuggled up to him, getting comfortable. He normally didn't feel comfortable around anyone, but...this was a nice change of pace. He enjoyed most of the bands, but in his mind, there was nothing like the original Nirvana; no disrespect to the copycats. Though he also saw the double standard--all he played were cover songs, and he'd probably never write an original song in his life.
As his mind wandered, urged on by the music, he thought about how much nicer it was to watch a show with her than to be on stage. Sure, having her attention like that was great, but there was something about being able to hold her hand and enjoy it with her. Leaning over, he gave her a light kiss on the cheek as the final act got on stage.
The crowd really went wild at that, and Jay still sort of cringed, the earphones not really helping much with that much commotion.

"It's honestly not a comfort thing," Jay corrected as politely as he could manage. "Most shifters--at least the ones I've met, anyway--are for whatever reason unable to shift clothing. Trust me, it's as awkward for me as it is for you." Almost...
He grabbed the blanket, wrapping it around himself like some sort of toga from hell before she took what he gathered was a motherly tone at him. And not the sweet mother, either; more like one of those annoyed ones that could kick your ass at any given moment. And like a teenager...Jay pressed his luck.
"Actually, I didn't 'trick' my way anywhere. Tricking involves planning and an endgame. This was more or less a run of bad luck and I got caught before I could make a clean getaway without any damage done. I do have a place to live, if I had clothes stashed somewhere, I would have attempted to go for them by now, and your son actually got it right. It's Russel," he said, the statement about clothes being the only true thing he'd said.
"Now, if you'd be so kind as to open the door, I can be on my way."

On the one hand, she was right. There was literally no way he could get out in this or any other form. But if he turned back human, she could tase him or something. And in today's world, one really had no idea what any given person could do. He figured that's why most normal humans didn't like mutants, because there was no way of knowing. Though, he hoped she was just a pretty lady without powers; just a bad temper. But knowing his luck...
Squeezing out the other end of the couch(and realizing maybe his corgi shift could afford to lose a pound or two in the rear), he shifted back into human. At least now there was a piece of furniture between them.
"I was just in the park as a dog. Kevin--cute kid by the way--caught me off guard. I figured what would spending a little time with a family hurt. I was sort of thinking of a way I could pose as my own owner and get out, but...it didn't work that way. And the yogurt? Well...man can't live on dog food alone, right?" he gave a nervous smile at his own joke. He was lying through his teeth, so hopefully she wasn't like a human lie-detector or anything like that. "Also...I can't shift clothes...which makes things rather....complicated..." Okay, that part was true.

Jay had set the empty yogurt cup on the counter, washing his spoon and setting it in the dish drainer as he pondered these things. Due to the running water, he missed the subtle sounds of the door opening, closing and locking, followed by footsteps.
"Who the hell are you, and what are you doing here?"
He spun around to see the woman, who was none too happy to see him. Grabbing his yogurt cup, he tossed it in the trash. If nothing else, at least he cleaned up after himself. Normally, this would have been the perfect time to hit on her, but considering the circumstances, he opted against it for now.
Thinking quickly, he shifted; since it was a small apartment, and dogs had no way of opening a door, he decided to use Russel. Once he was a corgi, he bolted straight for the living room with the intention of hiding under the sofa.
