The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

He smiled, glad she liked his plan. And he too, stood to his feet. "Coffee actually sounds great," he replied lightly, his brain still somewhat trying to comprehend what it was exactly that had transpired.
Once ready, he shifted back into Russel, and they began their walk. After a short distance, the leash was removed, and he ducked into an alley, shifted back human, and then into a golden retriever to run the rest of the way home. Well, maybe not run, but he did keep a fairly brisk pace the entire time.
Once home, he grabbed his gym bag, complete with two changes of clothes, and just sort of put it in his mouth. Then, he shifted back golden retriever, walked out, and pulled on a sock that was wedged under the door, effectively closing it. Then, began the trek back to her apartment. Luckily, he knew his way around fairly well, or maybe it was a dog's keen sense of direction, but regardless, he made it back.
He ducked into a nearby alley, shifted back human, and got dressed in a pair of faded jeans and a band tee-shirt. Then, he slung the gym bag over his shoulder and continued on to her apartment, knocking on the door once he got there.

He gave another small sigh as he thought. "I understand. But I have no logical way of finding clothes just lying around. Unless....you want to go with the original plan, but instead of going our separate ways, I can be back in about an hour? And I'd likely be too tired to do anything more than what we've been doing," he mused, trying to think of something that would work for the both of them.
And then, she kissed him again. "I'm glad. I much prefer this to the angry you," he said with a small chuckle.

She was still stroking the back of his neck with her thumb, and he had to admit, he liked it. From her reaction, he didn't think she liked his plan all that much, and his shoulders sort of slumped. He had to admit this woman--he didn't even know her name--was pretty hard to figure out. One minute she's pissed at him, then just sort of cross, then they're kissing on the couch, and now...he wasn't entirely sure what was going on.
"Did you have any other ideas? I mean, as much as I like what we're doing here....we're not really making any progress." He gave a slight chuckle, shrugging just a little.

And just as quickly as it began, it was over. When she shook her head, he knew that was it, but again, he couldn't complain. "I...yeah. But we didn't really have a solution for that," he murmured softly, looking away for a brief few seconds. "You know...I could always shift, and you could just walk me out. I go to a more appropriate shift once in a secluded area, and we go our separate ways. No harm done, right?" He gave a slight shrug.

He heard her breathed words as plain as day, thanks to his keener-than-average hearing. He smiled as she began to turn red again, and he felt his own cheeks flushing as well. He gave a light shudder as he felt her fingers on the back of his neck. And then...the space between them was closed, but this time, he wasn't the one to do it, and he had to admit it was a pleasant surprise.
His arms once again wrapped around her, pulling her close. This most definitely wasn't how he expected this whole ordeal would end, but who was he to complain?

Okay, arms around his neck were a good sign, he figured. And she didn't push him away this time, so he held the kiss for a little while longer. His heart started racing again, but this time, it wasn't because he was scared or nervous. But now, whatever happened...he'd say it was worth it. His arms wrapped around her in return.
After a moment, he pulled back and sort of used one hand to brush some stray hair from her face as he just sort of looked into her eyes for a moment. "So I take it I'm staying for a little while?" he asked softly, lips curling into a light smirk, followed by that signature charming wink.

He closed his eyes, quite enjoying the kiss and the intimacy of it all. And then she pulled away and said something that he knew to be true.
“I guess you’re right,” he murmured softly, pulling back and settling for holding her hand. “Not my fault you’re so damn addictive, though.” He shot her a mischievous grin, followed by a wink.
“Oh, I was born in Georgia,” he answered, thinking on his childhood. “Shortly after the little…uh…incident…that triggered my mutation, my Mom divorced my Dad and we bounced from state to state. I remember finishing school here. And my Mom is buried here, so…I guess you can say this has been my home for quite some time. And…I may as well stick around.” he gave her a weak smile, trying to push the sad thoughts from his head. Being around Zelda did seem to make that easier though.

He paused. "Honestly...I forgot all about that..." he murmured, eyes fixed on hers.
"Well...we're at a stalemate here, now aren't we?" he pondered, slowly making his way back over to her. "I'm not even sure what I want to do right now. Not...not entirely, anyway," he gave a small chuckle, then stopped when she revealed he was her first kiss in four years.
"I...wow...I mean..." Slowly, he sat on the couch next to her. "So...do I owe you an apology for that? Or another one?" He was trying to make light of the whole situation, though he honestly wasn't sure how well it was working. So...before she could answer, he kissed her again.

While Jay definitely wasn't looking forward to any sort of 'confession time,' he had to say he was looking forward to any time he got to spend with Zelda. She'd already seen his place, and it was probably obvious to her that he wasn't rolling in money or anything, and she stuck around. So maybe that meant it'd take alot to run her off. He hoped. But..that was a problem for another day.
"Yeeeeah, I'm not even sure I could spell that, so I'll give you points for effort, either way," he teased lightly, bringing himself out of the dark recesses his mind had decided to wander. When they got to her car, he reluctantly let go of her hand and got in on his side, shutting the door behind him.
Once she was inside as well, he let a hand run gently through her hair before leaning in, kissing her rather passionately. Besides the wild, not-all-positive thoughts that were running through his head, they hadn't shared a real kiss all evening. And like he'd decided, he needed to savor what moments he could, because people didn't stick around forever.

"I'm not. Just gunna unlock the door, crack it just a little, then shift into a dog and open it the rest of the way with my face before disappearing into the horizon," he replied, almost poetically. "I mean, I figure that'd be the best way to do it."
His heart finally started to slow, and his head was clearing, though that may or may not have been a good thing. Stopping somewhere between the couch and the door, he turned to face her. "I mean, unless you have other ideas. Or wanted me to stay?" He brushed his hair from his face before giving her a sly wink, but at the same time, watching her closely. After all, he did remember what she did with a stuffed animal. He just hoped his reflexes would be up to snuff if she didn't like his remarks.

Adrenaline was rushing through Jay's body as he looked at her, seemingly just as flushed and confused and awkward as he was. Time seemed to slow as his mind raced through the different possibilities. Should he break for it? Shift and just make an exit through a window? Shift back into the pup and hide under the sofa? Kiss her again?
He felt like either his heart was going to pound out of his chest or his head would explode. Or both. Both seemed logical. After what seemed like an eternity, he sat up. Then, he rose to a full standing position, letting the blanket just drop off.
"I think...maybe I should..." he jerked his head towards the door before turning around and slowly walking towards it. He didn't look back, but he was inwardly bracing for something heavy and/or made of glass to hit him on the back of the head.

He laughed, but then his mind wandered. All things considered, she probably would have plenty of bad things to say about him, in time...after all, he was kind of hiding the fact that he was a conman at heart. And he had no idea how she felt about that. But for some reason...he cared. A lot. Well, he figured they'd have to cross that bridge when they came to it. If they came to it.
"Good," he murmured, shaking all negative thoughts from his head. He figured at the very least, he should enjoy this as long as he could. Live in the moment, like most dogs do. They never think about being left alone, or something bad happen, they're just happy as long as they can be. And when time runs out, be happy again. But the human side of him knew it wasn't always that easy.
"Italian sounds good, but I'm not picky," he replied after a moment. He really wasn't picky; after all, he'd eaten dog food on more than one occasion. And once you've tried that sawdust-tasting dry stuff, you'd try anything at least once. However, that wasn't exactly first date material, so he kept it to himself.

Jay's heart was racing as he felt her start to lean into the kiss, so he started to relax, and feel more at ease. But then, just like that, she pushed him away and leaned back. He noted from her reaction that it caught her by surprise. Now, his mind was definitely racing as he only had a fraction of a second to react or it could be badly for him. Instead of going with his instinct and making a break for it, he slid all the way back over to the other side of the couch.
However, as he did so, he managed to leave the blanket behind. Quickly, he grabbed for it, covering up as fast as he could, his face starting to flush. He scooted as far against the armrest of the couch as he could, despite the distance between them would be a snap to close if she so chose to kill him.
"I uh..." he stammered, looking around and definitely judging the distance to the door, trying to figure out if he could make it. However, the way his heart and mind were racing, he didn't think he could pull it off at this point.

"It's not like I listen in on purpose," he teased. "I just tend to pick up more. It just means you should make sure I'm well out of earshot before you badmouth me to your friends~" He stuck out his tongue to show that he was teasing. "And yes, you're perfume smells nice. Not that you really need it," he said sweetly, punctuating this remark with a wink.
"That actually sounds like a plan. I could go for some food, and for someplace warm." he gave another light chuckle, finding himself unable to shake his smile, not that he wanted to. She had that effect on him, and the more he was around her, the more he liked the way she made him feel. He felt like somebody worth being around, and not just another loser with a special power.

He jumped a little, startled by the swat, albeit sliding just a little closer to her. "Hey! What was that for?" he exclaimed, looking over at her, though he did notice, that for a moment, albeit a brief one, her hand lingered on his chest. But just as quickly as it had happened, it was gone.
"As in I walked as a golden retriever for several miles, ducked into a nearby alley, then shifted into the corgi. I may be a former high school track star, but I don't think I have that kind of time."
He sat in silence, still thinking, but as he looked over at her, his mind wandered elsewhere. Out of his peripheral vision, he judged the distance to the door, accounting for any furniture in the way. Feeling he had nothing more to lose, he leaned forward, still keeping the blanket in place, and very swiftly let his lips meet hers.
