The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

The wolf locked eyes with the strangers, standing tall in victory, but sporting a few scars. His face was swollen slightly from being hit with the board, but that didn't take away from his piercing blue eyes and blood-stained maw. He licked his lips as he wondered what was going to happen now. Though it was apparent that this guy got some semblances of the hints that he'd been dropping.
”Well...look at that...You’re either extremely well-trained…there’s something more to you than meets the eye.”
Jay nodded, and the man removed his mask, still smiling; either this guy was pleased with Jay's performance, or the guy was a nut. Or a little of both. And then, he was being motioned to the next room, and he nodded, following next to the gentleman until they got into the room. He honestly didn't care what that Duke fellow did to the survivors. They got what was coming to them, after all.
Proceeding to the room, he knowingly stepped behind a crate, and when he emerged a moment later, he was a fully clothed human, with a bruise across his face, the gym bag slung over his shoulder. He held his hands up in a peaceful gesture, before attempting to wipe away the blood still staining his face.
"Alright..." he breathed, sort of winded from the ordeal; after all shifting and fighting was hard work, and Jay had been a bit more....up close and personal. "I know this might not be the preferred form, but....well it's the only way I can talk," he said with a tired smile. After he'd said this piece, he figured it was best to keep quiet and let his new...acquaintance do the talking.
After all, he was standing in the middle of what this guy was capable of.

He shook his head with a smile, adjusting his glasses a little. "I really don't. Because I care more about what you as a person, do to me. And if you leave me a crumpled heap on the floor as a result....then so be it," he smiled. He leaned into her a little as he sighed happily. "[color=lightgreen}Yeah...it does,[/color]" he murmured.
And then she kissed him again, and their foreheads rested together, and he smiled. "Well....I hadn't planned on anything past dessert. We've been winging it up til now," he said with a smirk.

Jay was pissed, and being a wild animal didn't exactly help matters much, as it only seemed to fuel his rage. There was a pile of bodies in his wake, and he was about to add even more to the pile as he snarled and growled and--
WHAP!
He crumpled to the floor, but only for a moment as he saw someone wielding a board of some kind. And it caught him right across the face. The wolf let out a howl of pain, lunging and pouncing on his attacker; the sap had bad form, and because of it, didn't get another shot. In fact, he didn't get another breath after that mistake. But then the people stopped trying to leave the door, and instead started to funnel around the wolf as he was busy. They sort of huddled against the wall, awaiting their deaths.
When Jay looked up, he saw why they were cowering, seeming to choose the wolf over this duo. At first glance, it was just two dudes, though the one with the mask and the golden gun seemed to have some sort of clout. And judging by the smell of blood, they'd had a higher kill count than he. Which...may not have been hard to do. But as the adrenaline wore off, Jay found his head throbbing, and he resisted the urge to instinctively lick his wounds.
At the mention of animal trafficking, the wolf shook his head reflexively, much more human than canine. Once the throbbing in his head eased a little, he eased himself to the corner, grabbing his clothes, and expertly shoving them into the drawstring gym bag. Then, he made his way back to the stranger, gym bag slung across his back.
For now, he'd stay a wolf. He was already exhausted, and shifting would make that worse. Besides, he figured he'd look much more badass as a beaten bloodied wolf than a beaten, bloodstained, naked guy. He sat in front of the stranger, looking up at him, after all, he figured if this guy wanted him dead, Jay probably wouldn't be standing here right now.

He chuckled lightly, rubbing her back gently. "Yeah, it might be, but either way, it's still you, ain't it?" he asked with a charming smile. "And if we're both happy, then we're doing something right, I'd say."
He smiled again, relaxing in the chair. He never thought he'd be comfortable sharing his story like this, but...he had to admit he was okay with Lee knowing. Even if she'd been snooping.

He smiled as she got up to see him out, and he put his jacket on, zipping it up because he knew it'd be cold. Then, he slung his gym bag over his shoulder. "Thanks; I'm looking forward to it."
He gave her another, less awkward hug as he turned and left. As he walked home, he was feeling a mix of feelings. He was going to need a cold shower when he got home...

His smile weakly came back as she sat in his lap, wrapping her arms around him. He nuzzled into her gently as she spoke, just loving the fact that she was there, and that he was okay with sharing this with her. But...if they were going to work, then he couldn't hide any secrets; at least that's how he saw the whole thing, anyway.
"Yeah...it was. That haunts me to this day; part of why I get insomnia. Why I took to drowning my sorrows." he looked at her with a smile, kissing her lips gently. "But, when I'm with you, all that seems to change. I can actually sleep without getting blackout drunk. I'm actually...happy."

He nodded as she spoke, putting a hand on her shoulder. "Yeah, but that's kind of why I do what I do now," he said, flashing a small smile. "Granted, that article doesn't do the situation any justice. Like almost everything else these days, it's written in a very anti-mutant point of view. If you want to hear the whole story...well, I can share it with you," he said, moving to take a seat in the chair she'd abandoned. He looked down at the article, taking a breath.
"See, growing up, I was abused for being a mutant, and so was my cousin...so we'd become close, and when I graduated, I took him to Atlanta to live with me while I joined the police force there. He found less than savory means of making a living, and I endured a lot of anti-mutant crap even though they never knew what I was. One day, almost four years ago, there was a call. What they called a code M. Mutant disturbance. I got there just in time to see Ty being gunned down by the police, in an act that made the news. He wasn't doing anything but trespassing; there was no need to shoot him, but....they did anyway."
He paused as his eyes started to sting, and he bit his lip. "After he was identified, it came out that he was my cousin, and I was treated even worse by my colleagues. So....I packed up and moved to New York. I used my knowledge of law to become a private investigator, and I spend most of my efforts helping people, especially mutants. That way I'm able to do for them, what I couldn't do for him...."

Jason stirred a little at the faint sound of music, but he drifted right back to sleep. But that didn't last very long as he heard...well it was definitely Shinedown, but something else accompanied it that he hadn't heard before. Something beautiful that overpowered the room and caused his eyes to open. Seeing it was Lee, he smiled, sitting up in bed, and then after putting his glasses on...seeing where she was...and what she had....his smile dropped. But she hadn't noticed him yet.
With a grunt, pushed himself to his feet, not bothering to get dressed as he walked over to her, looking down at the picture and the article. He didn't say anything as he reread the article, staring at the picture.
"I see you found my little secret," he said with a sad sigh after the song ended. "I haven't looked at that picture or article in a long time....but I like to read the letters from time to time. Before I met you...that's actually what kept me going," he admitted softly, biting his lip.
"And it's a story I've never told...." his eyes had sort of a forlorn look to them as he spoke, leaning on the desk.

Jason smiled as they were kissing yet again, only this time close enough to the bed. His arms wrapped around her again, his hands sliding and dancing along her back before one came to rest on her back, the other in her hair. He backed up against the bed, slowly letting himself fall back....
*fade to black*
Jason sprawled across the bed, a soft smile on his face as he felt Lee's body next to his. He'd been so much happier since meeting her, and he was even happier now that they were dating. Or...trying to date, since neither of them really had a clue. But even still, it was nice. Sliding a little closer to her, his eyes slid closed as he slowly drifted off to sleep.

He nodded, smiling a little, shaking off the fact there was something else he'd like to "try." He took a deep breath just before she was sitting across the table in front of him. "Yeah, I understand. I know just enough to survive on, honestly," he said with a shrug. He smiled again as he looked at her, but he shook any thoughts out of his head.
With a sigh he stood to his feet. "I've really had fun today," he said with a smile. "But I think it's about time I head home." Walking over he gave her an awkward side-hug before grabbing his jacket. "I'll see you Tuesday," he said with another smile.

Jay really did want to spend time with her. It'd just been awhile, if ever, since he had a female friend that he didn't sleep with.
"That sounds good actually. Then we can have time to really look around. See animals, maybe even snag a few more obscure shifts..." he gave a smile; he'd forgotten how much he loved just looking at animals, especially canines. It reminded him of when he used to run with the neighborhood strays.

Even in the midst of his own chaos, Jay could hear the gunshots in the other room, and he knew that he wasn't alone. He just hoped whoever was causing **** in the other room believed in that whole "enemy of my enemy" thing. But as his teeth sank into the leg of one of the spectators, that thought faded from his mind as he tasted blood. His adrenaline pumped even more, and Jay wasn't sure if it was some subtle side effect of the shift, the adrenaline itself, or the intense rage over the dog fighting ring. But the wolf was spurred on even more.
And the people in the cramped space were given a choice: To stay and be mauled by a wolf, or go outside and face the gunfire. Suddenly, he felt a sharp pain in his ribs and he slid across the floor. Big mistake. He climbed to his feet, snarling, and then he lunged, letting his attacker feel just what the loser of that last fight felt as the last bit of life was drained from him.
He was on someone else in an instant, fueled by rage, by adrenaline, and only spurred on by what would likely be a bruise later. He was a whirlwind of fur and fangs, his ears pinned back as a handful of them decided to take their chances with the gunfire.
For those that remained, he stayed, ears pinned back, his eyes focused on his prey, his nose and mouth now well acquainted with the smell and taste of blood. Something inside Jay had snapped this day, and as he lunged at someone else, he found himself tangled with people who were fighting back, but he was a wild animal, and normally, in the fight of man versus nature....

He gave another shudder as he felt her hand on his neck, and he smiled lightly behind the kiss. He didn't know why he'd leaned back in, but at this point, it didn't really matter. His hand that wasn't in her hair danced along her back, gently trailing her spine and pushing the dress down little by little.
Finally, he pulled away, gently taking her hand and leading her--rather briskly--over to the bed.
On his face, there was a smile. He never thought she'd be at his apartment the first time, and now they were....well they were attempting a relationship, for lack of a better term. Neither of them knew what the hell they were doing, but...he was happy. Sure they couldn't keep their hands off of each other, but considering how this whole thing had started, that wasn't surprising, was it?

Jason shuddered at her touch; she was good at making him do that. His hands wrapped around her, one hand tangling in her hair as the other slid down to find the zipper on her dress, slowly dragging it down.
After a moment, and the zipper had gone as far down as it could, he pulled back, but only just enough to break the kiss. "Shouldn't we go somewhere more...comfortable?" he murmured softly, but then leaned in to close the gap once again.

The breath on his lips, the hands on his back...it made several small chills run up his spine. He had no idea why she did this to him, but he had to admit...he wasn't about to argue with it. As they kissed, he stood from the stool without remotely breaking the kiss. And then, he felt her hands on his back.
Pulling back only just enough, he pulled his shirt over his head, letting it drop to the floor. Then, with a smile, he leaned in and kissed her again.
