The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Once again he noticed her face turn that familiar shade of beet red. But he realized pretty quickly that it meant he was doing something right. He smiled softly as he continued eating.
"Well, I'd rather have a clueless you than not have you at all," he said with a shrug. Then he gave another chuckle.
"Fair point. Though at least with me, you come out without spending a lot of money, and you always get a little something extra with the meal," he gave her another wink as he drank his beer. He was now as relaxed and carefree as he was when they'd first started the night together; it was almost as if that incident didn't happen.

Jay chuckled lightly. "Yeeeah...I'd also need good lawyer money..." he said with a mock-pained expression. "But it sure is fun to think about, right?" He looked over at her and flashed a smile.
He laughed as she mentioned his backpack, and he nodded. "Yeah, at least then, people think I'm trained. Though that doesn't exactly help with the sticklers, though. Usually I can outsmart them, get lost in the crowd, something like that. But the backpack is kind of a necessity, otherwise I'm trekking around the city naked, and...well frankly it's too cold for that ****." He gave another laugh, having relaxed considerably since the whole puppy roulette ordeal.
"Usually it's for fun. It's an escape for me, when I'm not playing bass. But you'd be surprised what a roaming dog can hear. Lots of good information can be gathered that way."

Jay smiled. "Well, I'm glad, honestly. Otherwise some other lucky bastard would have ended up with you," he said with a twinkle in his spectacled eyes. "Which would be a shame, because I find you irresistible." He gave her a wink as he dug into his food, washing it down with some of his beer--he really needed to invest in something else to drink. But hey, if it ain't broke, don't fix it, right?
"Well, you know I won't steer you wrong," he said with a small smile. "Besides, you listen well, and any intuition needed will come as you gain experience. Though most of what I cook is fried and/or not good for you, so you've been warned." He gave another smile as he looked over at her again. Even when he could keep his hands off of her, his eyes tended to stay glued to her.

Nothing seemed to help get that disgusting taste out of the dog's mouth. It was possibly the most disgusting thing that ever assaulted his nostrils or his taste buds. After a few moments, he realized he wasn't alone. Well, he never had been, but he had drawn attention. People were gathered around, taking pictures and staring at him.
He hopped to his feet, still fighting with the bitter, noxious aftertaste of....whatever the hell that was he'd bitten. Not long after that, he was joined by the woman and his new partner in their failed attempt at vigilantism. Looking up, the dog gave a sharp whine at the man's questions.
But then the scene turned sideways yet again as an officer showed up. ****! This is gonna be another mark on my record..." he thought as he cocked his head sideways. Suddenly, he walked over to his gym bag, taking it into his mouth, and then dragging it into a nearby alley. He needed to find a place to change.
If that guy didn't still have his bass, he could have made a run for it.

Jason paused for a moment at her words, thinking over them. "No one's ever worried about me before," he said as he set their plates down, a slight smile forming on his face.
"Don't jinx it," he warned jokingly as he pulled the stool out for her.
Despite everything that'd happened so far, he was happy Lee'd stayed. He had this thought that she might have gotten mad and left in all of the drama, but still she stayed. And now their date was going as planned. He hoped.
Once she sat down, he sat next to her, taking a bite of one of the cheese sticks. "You did a really good job with these," he complimented.

Jason gave a dry laugh. "Interesting, is one way to put it," he muttered with snort. "There were a few reasons I used to drink myself to sleep before I met you," he said with a shrug. "That is true, though I think it's sweet that you'd worry about me," he said, his voice turning sweet as he kissed her cheek.
"Well, we get one burger each, and there are plenty of cheese sticks to go around. After that, I really need a bite," he said, grabbing two plates and fixing both of them, then handed one to Lee after he'd finished.
"Maybe this evening will get better, hm?" he said with a smile.

Apparently, the other guy had finished his....work...in the other room, and then he and Poseidon were talking. Despite his keen hearing, he couldn't quite pick up on what exactly they were saying. They were too far away, and the whispering was so quiet, all he could get was some incomprehensible muttering. Maybe that was for the best though.
He thought on the question for a moment, how did he feel about humanity in general. "I find very few humans are...deserving of respect," he finally said, his mind going back to most humans he'd met. In fact, there was only one human he liked, but he got the feeling that this guy didn't need to know he was sleeping with one. In fact, everyone else he'd met and liked always turned out to be mutants, maybe this one was the same and she just hadn't told him yet. Wouldn't surprise him.
"Honestly, I think humanity as a whole is spoiled, entitled, and destined to be knocked off their pedestal," he said, a fair amount of disdain in his voice. He didn't go into his back story any; that would probably come later. Besides...a part of him liked what this guy was selling. And another part liked being alive, so it seemed like it would be a good bet.
"They tend to think they rule the world, and really....they do. But hey, everything's gotta change sometime."
After Blaine and Jason successfully managed to remove a barstool and heal the wounds thereof, our five heroes had a good night's rest, and found themselves awake before the sun came up, bidding the small town farewell as they continued their trek to seek their fortune. They traveled the path, barbarian and fighter side by side, druid and rogue behind them, and Skye's wizard bringing up the rear. The halfling stayed firmly hidden behind the half orc, matching movements perfectly with the large...man(?)'s left leg.
Soon, their landscape turned into a forest, trees nearly blocking the sun as light began to fade.
"Suddenly...Jay roll for Dexterity."
The clatter of dice on the table only added to the suspense. "....Seven..."
Suddenly a string of web comes out of the trees, hitting Jay's halfling rogue square in the chest, restraining him and easily pulling his tiny form towards the trees, where he is instantly surrounded by eight giant spiders.
"I cast Fireball!" "You realize Jay is in the area of the blast, right, Skye?" Fire. Ball."
Dice clattered on the table again as Jay let out a disgruntled groan, followed by even more dice.
" There is now a pile of charred spiders, and one Halfling, medium rare."

Jason heaved a sigh of relief when she was finally gone, adjusting his glasses and rubbing his temples. "You did fine, you were just distracted. Hell...so was I," he muttered as he scraped the burger-shaped ashes into the trash can. Then, Lee spoke again and their eyes met.
"I know she's looking for someone she loves and all, but...she's a little heavy handed. Doesn't consider anyone else. Like, she doesn't realize--or maybe she doesn't care--that I actually have a life." He shrugged, smiling sheepishly. "Yeah...I don't know what the deal is there." After a moment, he sighed again.
"Remember when we met, and I made like my job was awesome and bad ass?" he said with a weaker than usual smile, "I kinda exaggerated a bit."

Jay sighed. "You are. This is my apartment, and we're on MY time," he said firmly, eyes locked on the redhead.
"I'm not paying you to cook with that--" "Hey! All I got right now is the deposit. You're not paying me til the job is finished, now I suggest you get out, and I'll work with you during the scheduled time. And if you don't, I'll have you escorted out."
The lady got the message, slamming the door on her way out, but not without giving a look that said 'This isn't over.'
Jay sighed. "See what I mean?" he said quietly. "I'm so sorry about that, Babe..."
And then he looked over to see what used to be the burgers in the pan, and he turned them off. "Well ****" he muttered.

Jason gave a shrug. "You'd be surprised. Some people are just that desperate. Besides....as annoying as she is I'd have charged her that much anyway," he said, mostly joking. Mostly. He looked over as she finished the cheese sticks, and then washed her hands.
"Well, now you can take over the burgers," he said as he put the two finished ones on a plate. There's enough there for two more, just separate em out like I showed you, and give 'em a few minutes on each side, but make sure they're done," he explained.
Suddenly there was a frantic knock on the door, and Jason gave a sigh. "Who in the hell...." he mumbled as he made his way to the door. "Give me a second." Walking over to the door, he opened it, and a woman barged inside. She stood about 5'7, with strawberry blonde hair, piercing green eyes, and a full figure. She was dressed rather suggestively in a red top that showed off her midsection and was low cut, a short skirt, and a pair of boots. She had a jacket thrown on top of the shirt, but it wasn't zipped.
"You can't just barge into my--" "You're supposed to be helping me find my brother!" "I told you, this isn't an overnight process." "It would be if you didn't have people like...her over instead of working," she hissed, making her way to the desk and sitting in the chair across from it.
Throwing his hands up, Jason made his way back to the kitchen area, shutting the apartment door and putting his attention back to Lee and the burgers. Maybe if they ignored her, she'd just leave.

Jay knew full well who was in control of this situation, and his instincts said to let that stand as it was. After all, the way the man's hand was hovering near that holster...Jay knew he wasn't out of the woods yet. And that smile wasn't exactly helping things much. Was it a pleased grin? A sadistic one? Both? One couldn't be sure, so he continued playing the same game he had been.
"Well, I wasn't actively looking," he started, "But there are times when work just finds you," he added. Considering the situation, it seemed to be a good thing he was genuinely interested, because this guy didn't look like the type who took no for an answer. Even now that the hand was away from the holster, and the man who called himself Poseidon--rather appropriately--was puffing on a cigar...he still didn't seem like a man to be trifled with.
"My name's Jay," he said, still maintaining his composure. "And this seems like one of those times; I'm interested in the offer, yeah," he added as he looked at the older gentleman.

"I'm sure. I'm also pretty sure this woman would interrupt her own funeral," he grumbled. "I mean, dear GOD if she wasn't paying double my normal rate..." He took a breath, shaking his head.
"Yeah, it's all about timing and time management, really," he explained as she pulled out more cheese sticks. She was almost done, so he grabbed another pan and put it on the stove, turning the eye on. He rolled out a couple of patties and put a couple on the pan after it got hot enough. "I'm going to start these for you, but note how I'm doing it," he explained, letting her get a look at how he did it.
Also, he was going to have to give her time to wash her hands as well.

He enjoyed watching her learn; the way she was really serious about doing this. It made him smile, especially seeing how much easier he made it by rearranging the bowls. When she looked at him, he shook his head. "New client. Took her on yesterday morning. She pays well, but...they don't make enough aspirin in the world..." he said with a grumble. He really didn't want to deal with that.
"You're doing good though. When you get done, I'll pull out the hamburger meat. I've already seasoned it, so all we're doing there is actually cooking the burgers. And that's going to be our dinner." He smiled over at her; he'd been looking forward to this all day, and he didn't care how many times the new client called. Time with Lee was more important.

Once his turn to talk had ended, Jay stayed quiet; different people had different etiquette for conversation, but in this case it was simple enough. Like passing a ball back and forth. The canine-shifter could understand not being a crusader for justice because when it all boiled down, he wasn't either; he was just a guy with a soft spot for dogs. Granted it was too late for most of the ones in there, but he could rest easy knowing the former inhabitants of this warehouse would never be a problem again.
So the guy was just stamping out competition, and they just so happened to be in the same building. The blond could understand that. He noticed the hand, recognizing the body language to mean that what Jay said next was going to be crucial. His expression was still as casual as it could be for a guy with a bruise across his face, and his ribs, though not broken, still occasionally reminded him that he was going to have a pretty nasty bruise there for awhile, as well.
"Well," he finally said calmly. "Honestly, it is what it is. I got nothing against a businessman stamping out competition, though looking at how this place is run...I use that word very generously" he said, his icy blue eyes casually looking at the other gentleman as his ears noticed the sounds in the next room beginning to fade out.
"The way I see it, we were fighting two separate battles on the same battlefield. I mean I damn sure don't have a problem with you," he said with a shrug, figuring they had no reason to be at odds with each other. Besides...he didn't have the energy to go wolf again.
