The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

It was an odd setting to say the least: a large room with a long table. Bookshelves lined the walls, every curtain and blind was drawn shut. The light was dim, just bright enough to be able to read when needed. Six figures sat at the table, in front of them a sheet and various funny-shaped dice. They were a rag-tag group, to say the least. At one end of the table was a young woman with yellow hair, her hands occasionally flickering with yellow light from her excitement. Then, looking at either side of the table, one would think it was some sort of mirror. Two large, muscular men who looked identical except for differing haircuts, and two small, leaner men whose only difference was that one wore glasses.
At the head of the table sat a looming, robed figure, peering over a cardboard screen, watching the others scribble on their sheets, some with more focus than others. "Everybody almost done leveling?" The figure asked, his deep voice smooth, yet somewhat haunting, given the scene.
"Not yet," the large, short-haired man spoke up, staring at his sheet as the spectacled gentleman looked over to help.
"You only have three Charisma?"
"Don't need it."
Jason shrugged, figuring it best for the game--and his own safety--that he let the guy have his fun.
And then...everything changed. The five of them were seated at a table, but the hooded figure was gone, and this table was in a tavern, nothing like the ones we know and love. Even the people at the table were different.
Where Skye once sat, was a petite, yellow haired elf, robed in a spectrum of colors, her long pointed ears poking out from her hair as her spellbook lay on the table in front of her. Jason, the spectacled wiry gentleman, was still thin and human, but he wore tattered leather armor, and had a staff across his back. Sinclaire, the large, short-haired man, was now a shirtless half-orc, covered in scars and tattoos, his face still emotionless as ever as he polished his great axe.
A thoughtful expression on his now bearded face, the long haired Dwarf sat in a set of platemail, maul on his back. Though he was now shorter, he was still built like he was carved from the very mountains. Jay, the wiry gentleman without glasses, merely shook his head at the scene. He had a dark robe covering his leather armor, yet the hood was down, revealing his now shaggy, sandy-brown hair. However, he was standing on his chair, though at first glance he seemed to be sitting. Hey, every party needs a halfling.
An elf barmaid arrived with a tray, handing each of them a beer, and as she walked away, the halfling rogue gave her a playful smack on the rear. To which, she turned around and smiled.
"Again?' Skye's elf-wizard hissed, glaring at Jay. "Hey, I've got all this Charisma, so I may as well use it." He shrugged, winking lightly as the wizard went back to her book.
"Suddenly, the halfling feels a tap on his shoulder. It's the door-man. And he doesn't take kindly to halflings, especially those who harass the barmaids."
Human, Dwarf, Elf, and Half-orc all stand up from the table, moving to another one, leaving the three-foot rogue staring up at the almost-seven foot bouncer.
After Blaine and Jason successfully managed to remove a barstool and heal the wounds thereof, our five heroes had a good night's rest, and found themselves awake before the sun came up, bidding the small town farewell as they continued their trek to seek their fortune. They traveled the path, barbarian and fighter side by side, druid and rogue behind them, and Skye's wizard bringing up the rear. The halfling stayed firmly hidden behind the half orc, matching movements perfectly with the large...man(?)'s left leg.
Soon, their landscape turned into a forest, trees nearly blocking the sun as light began to fade.
"Suddenly...Jay roll for Dexterity."
The clatter of dice on the table only added to the suspense. "....Seven..."
Suddenly a string of web comes out of the trees, hitting Jay's halfling rogue square in the chest, restraining him and easily pulling his tiny form towards the trees, where he is instantly surrounded by eight giant spiders.
"I cast Fireball!" "You realize Jay is in the area of the blast, right, Skye?" Fire. Ball."
Dice clattered on the table again as Jay let out a disgruntled groan, followed by even more dice.
" There is now a pile of charred spiders, and one Halfling, medium rare."

--After a long hiatus due to motivational issues and other things...let's do this.--
The entire forest smelled of death and brimstone, though at this point...one couldn't call it a forest anymore. Few trees had been left standing, and those that were looked decayed. Something had hit this place hard and without remorse.
The Halfling awoke first, his head pounding and his entire body aching His armor was torn and stained with blood as his eyes scanned the scene. The grass was black, the forest was destroyed, and there was a heavy black fog covering the area.
"Uh...guys....? Everyone okay?" "No..." Came the quiet reply as Jay looked over to see the elven wizard her multicolored robe in tatters, her long blond hair mussed, and her face stained with blood and ash.
Jay's eyes finally came into focus as he saw where they'd made camp. Now, there was nothing there; the tents were burned, and there was no sign of the rest of the party, aside from the scorched body of a familiar half orc lying not far from them.
Skye eased her way over, gently putting her hand on the halfling's shoulder. "I don't know where Jason and Blaine are...I don't even know what happened..."
At that moment, Skye noticed three figures looming in the fog. Though she was weak, the wizard's fingers crackled with energy, prepared for a threat.
"Stand down. We're on your side," a voice said firmly as a human came into view. She was wearing plate armor, holding a shield with an emblem of a fish, with a sword by her side. Next to the paladin was a grey-skinned elf, guitar on his back, dressed in dark clothes. Finally, towards the back of the trio was a red-haired half-elf in scale mail, the same fish-emblem on her chest.
"This place was hit hard...the entire state of this world has changed. It's a dark place, overrun by that fog. But don't worry. The five of us are going to take it back..."
