Sabine grinned, leading Pippa back to the desk to sit her down atop it. Pippa was very understanding of Sabine's asexuality, but Sabine wasn't sex-repulsed. Honestly, running high on the of a harrowing day and a big step in their relationship, Sabine was here to share this moment with her partner. Her girlfriend.
It still felt good to even think. She settled herself between Pippa's knees and cupped Pippa's cheek in her hand. "I'm damn lucky to have you to come home to," she murmured, leaning in for a deep kiss and more to follow.

After everything they experienced together and the way Pippa claimed a space for herself in Sabine's jaded heart, she absolutely deserved to be treated like a princess. Sabine always assumed she was the kind of person who didn't have romance in the cards. Beyond a lack of sexual attraction that warded many people away, her life was dangerous and made her difficult to connect with. Despite that, here came this lovely blonde spitfire who made Sabine's heart flutter without trying.
Sabine held Pippa securely in her arms, nice and close as they sank deeper and deeper into a loving kiss. She smiled. "I never thought I'd get this lucky. Thank you for being the person who cares enough to worry about me. It's nice having someone to come back to when the dust settles."
Looking at the door, then the windows obscured by blinds, Sabine leaned close into Pippa's ear to whisper, "Does this old office door of yours lock by any chance?" She DID have a lot of pent-up energy, a sudden appreciation for being alive, and a lovely princess girlfriend in her arms in a secluded room...

After a tumultuous few months... years... okay, things had always been tumultuous at SUPER. Still, things were finally getting sorted and accounted for on the record. Given the unethical origins of the organization, it was unsurprising how many projects and programs were operating off the books, even in this new universe under new leadership.
Sabine had a lot of cleaning up to do, but she considered this a good opportunity to track down problems that fell through the cracks.
Problems like Agent Lenna Kadick.
Agents going MIA was unfortunately not unheard of, but after the Mansion Mission, Sabine had an answer for one of their missing assets. It was probably obvious now; Lenna wasn't the only member of SUPER to get caught in the crossfire of Betsy Button and her age regression spree. When Sabine discovered Lenna, she kept tabs on what the ex-agent was up to, but after the Mansion, it was time to touch base with her.
She arranged for the meeting to take place in an off-site office no one used regularly. Sabine was meeting Lenna on her own, but Lenna didn't know that.
She sat in the lobby in a chair, across from another empty chair. She hit the button to unlock the door. "Waiting for verification to check out. I guess you haven't figured out patience yet."

Sabine was not a people person in the conventional sense, but she could read people. She tried to avoid making a habit of analyzing people she cared about, but you always picked up on facial expressions. She could see it in Pippa's face; being Sabine's girlfriend made her giddy. And honestly, the feeling was mutual.
How the hell did she, of all people, reach the point where she was giddy and happy and dating a beautiful, funny, clever woman like Pippa? She wasn't going to question it, because she really wanted it to stay like this.
Sabine wrapped an arm around Pippa's waist and pulled her in. Her smile was broad and warm. "You're absolutely my princess. I just left my shining armor back at the office, but now that we mention it, I did just play a not-insignificant role in saving the world from a monster. AND I came back in one piece. Think that's the kind of thing you get a princess' kiss for these days?"

The point caught Sabine by surprise. Had she really never used the word? In a way, it felt a bit High School, but she liked saying it anyway. "I guess maybe it always felt implied. But that's what we are, right? You're my girlfriend." They couldn't talk about it often, but that didn't mean Sabine saw their relationship as anything other than deeply real to her.

"Maybe you are my princess, you goof. Have you ever thought of that?" Sabine didn't have a complex when I came to saving people, but she still had a vested interest in protecting Pippa.
Being Sabine's girlfriend, in the opposite end, meant signing up for more stress. Sabine wasn't sure how serious her question was, but it got a heavy pregnant pause before any potential answer.
Sabine interjected instead. "To be clear, I don't want things to end here. But I know what this job is and I feel like a bad girlfriend for putting you through all that worry."

Sabine understood where Pippa was coming from; even before they were together, the pair experienced their own life-or-death misadventures. Going through those trials together was a unique bonding experience, and Sabine was glad she was there with Pippa, knowing she could do whatever was needed to keep Pippa safe.
"I get it, but also: absolutely not." In Sabine's eyes, she was allowed some hypocrisy in this situation. "I signed up to throw myself into trouble, but I'm most at ease when you are far, far from harm's way."
Sabine offered her shoulder for Pippa to rest her head on; this had been an exhausting day. "But I guess I can't imagine being in your shoes for this." If all Sabine could do was watch and pray silently for Pippa to be safe, she would have lost her damn mind.
"I have to warn you: there's no promising we won't have to do this again. Not the big archdemon, obviously." Hopefully. "But when everything goes down, it's likely I'll be in the middle of it. I need you to really consider if you can deal with days like this, because there are much safer women to love out there."

Sabine loosened her tight hold of Pippa and nodded. "Right. Your office. Good. I'd like a chance to debrief away from civilians." Sabine hooked her arm around Pippa's arm and let the blonde lead the way.
Once the door behind them was finally closed and the blinds shuttered, Sabine grabbed Pippa's face with both hands and pulled her in for a long kiss. Her body relaxed for the first time all night and she could catch her breath. "I missed you. I'm so sorry I had to leave you panicking and worrying. This is the first major disaster we've had to deal with since... well, I'm not used to having someone home worrying about me." Before Pippa, anyone who would have been concerned for Sabine's safety worked for SUPER in a similar capacity and dealt with the same risks. A civilian girlfriend took some reasonable adjustment.

Sabine had the sense not to kiss Pippa in the middle of Haven, an organization the PR mastermind worked for. Sabine and Pippa were seen in public together, but that was perceived by most to be a professional relationship. People hugged their close friends, but kissing would be much harder to explain to Sveta and Devon, let alone Sabine's superiors.
"Yeah, the Mansion collapsing was definitely as scary underneath it as it probably was to watch," Sabine admitted. There was nothing Sabine could do but hope for the best when she watched The Fifth collapse the building. "You know me; I hate situations that I can't control. But I guess I was safer than the Agents and X-Men on the surface."
Looking around at the crowd of people looking for friends and loved ones in a large room, Sabine spoke close to Pippa's ear. "Is there somewhere we can talk more privately?"

Sabine brightened, walking toward Pippa to close the gap as her sweet partner rushed over. Pippa might have stopped short, but Sabine didn't. She was finally feeling the nerves that came from almost being buried alive or killed by magic. This was almost a moment she didn't get to have with Pippa again. She could not let it pass without scooping Pippa into a hug and lifting her off her feet.
"I'm alright. They really did set me up in the safest room they had." There were doubts when the Mansion collapsed around her that the War Room wouldn't hold up to its reputation, but the X-Men clearly built that thing out of the right stuff. "If anything, I might've been too safe out there."

Coming from a world where she was a tool of an oppressive government, Sabine hoped her second lease on life could mean a better, simpler life. After a few years, she could confirm that her life was better, but it was far from easy. The battle with the Betsy Button at an abandoned mall was more chaotic than most of her ops in the other world, but the Battle of Xavier's was on another level.
They were dealing with magic. They had to fight what Sabine and anyone with eyes would call a demon or eldritch demigod. And during that potentially apocalyptic battle, Sabine was in the X-Men War Room coordinating their battle. The experience was surreal, yet it was supposed to be just another day in her life as a SUPER Agent.
Sabine was one of the last to arrive to the Haven location, feeling responsible for following up with her own agents and even the leaders of the X-Team. It was only when she walked through a door and saw Pippa anxiously fiddling with her gloves that the reality of the situation hit her: she could have died. They all could have died. And she had someone who cared enough about her to worry herself sick. "Pippa..."

Sabine was used to coordinating larger strike teams, but this was different. The X-Men were trained… well, it would be disingenuous to say they were trained poorly, but they were trained differently. They fought like heroes; it was flashy and it hinged heavily on the abilities of individuals. Annoying, but she would live.
Then again, her own people were good at annoying her, too. Sabine groaned, but at least Hugh was in keeping levity in the stress. “A reminder that these are open comms, Mann. No kiss, but I maybe a drink for all the agents who make it out.” Thankfully, Pippa was not on scene or on comms. Little blessings.
At least Amelia was on task. “Roger. From the cameras and reports, it sounds like most of them are making their way through the woods. Seems like some leapers and teleporters are getting to the courtyard faster than the others. Watch your ass, Metilus.”
One of the X-Leaders chimed in Amelia’s ear, Mirror, followed by Cold Steel, both talking about her in a way a more emotionally attuned person would call rude. Sabine just sighed. “Once again. Open comms.”
Heroes were so quippy, but it was still nice working with people who understood their own strengths and how to use them. At Sam’s request, Sabine enabled the irrigation system across the grounds, causing sprinkler heads to splash to life. “CS, Neptune, we’re watering the battlefield. Enjoy.”

Sabine appreciated Svetlana for keeping her in the loop on what was coming. For the X-Men to allow her into their space, she knew the situation was dire. Even Aoife, the captive Supreme, seemed skittish about what was coming next.
Knowing her limits, Sabine was helping to coordinate communications from the security room of the Mansion, (with supervision, of course.) She had members of Mansion staff and the MRC working alongside her to monitor the situation, and they had a covered mirror held in the War Room to ensure no one got to the Sixth Supreme without Sabine having something to say about it.
"Okay people, we do not have confirmation on where they need to reach to get on with their plan, so the goal should be to stop as much forward progress as possible!"

Sabine wrapped an arm around Pippa, bringing her close to enjoy a genuine, intimate moment with her. In the past, she wondered if her stance on romance would be as indifferent as her thoughts on sex. The flutter in her chest confirmed her sense of romance was still alive and well and just waiting for a bubbly, sassy blonde to come around.
Pressing her forehead against Pippa's as their lips separated, Sabine smiled. "We still have a lot to talk about," she had to remind Pippa, because they needed to get on the same page if this was gonna work. "But for now, I just want to sit together and eat some candy."

Sabine worried she was overstepping. Relationships were unfamiliar territory, and romantic relationships were almost uncharted territory. She dated in college, but her mind was elsewhere and most people she tried to date were interested in something Sabine was uninterested in providing. Pippa was different. Sabine was well past the age of dating because she was supposed to, but she wanted to be with Pippa.
It was inappropriate, but Sabine was glad Pippa was her PR representative and not an HR representative. This was, indeed, a messy idea. But it was something messy that they were both open to.
"Not bad at all," she agreed, the space between them closing further. "So let's try it, then. Let's be open with each other and see where this goes, because I really hope it goes somewhere great." Her lips brushed Pippa's as she spoke, a paperwidth from kissing her friend, giving Pippa one last chance to pull away or go all in with whatever they were.
