The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Allegra, her friend Rayna and frenemy Kristii (along with Kristii's mindless followers) head out to the beach. They encounter a clash of cultures when Allegra meets Darkshift.
"You get rewarded with items? Like prizes?" Allegra asked. "What kind of prizes? How do they send them to you? Is it cool stuff?" She didn’t understand the bit about unlocking but she figured Alice would explain it all when they started gaming. There seemed to be more to it than just shooting at monsters all day.
Allegra wasn’t too thrilled about the idea of elves or dwarves. “I’m not into punks either no matter how steamy the punks might be,” she admitted. But Alice seemed willing to find a game Allegra liked which was cool. So many people like Alice would just write Allegra off as a dumb blonde and not take the time to get to know her. This girl was being really nice. Even if the games totally sucked, it was an opportunity to make a new friend.
“Your sister graduated from here?” Allegra asked. “So being a mutant runs in your family? I guess that kinda makes sense. It’s genetic right?” Allegra had never really thought much about the subject until she found out she was a mutant herself.
“Thank you,” Allegra said. She still hadn’t gotten over the loss of her sister and it was good to talk to someone who cared. "I just go day to day, you know?"
“Costumes for conventions?” Allegra asked. “Like what kind of conventions? Is it like a fashion show with runway modeling and that kind of thing? That would be cool. There were some nerds...er… kids at my school who went to some Renaissance Fair thing where they dressed up like knights and crazy stuff like that. I bet your conventions are better than that.” At least she hoped they were.
“I’ve always been into art and I’ve always been into fashion so putting the two together for fashion design is almost natural,” Allegra said. “My mom wants me to be a model like my sister was, but that’s not really my thing. How about you? Do you want to be a video game designer?”
“So do you have a girlfriend back home?” Allegra asked. Alice had a great personality. If she’d find better clothes and spend less time playing video games, Allegra was sure she could be a knockout.
“The dark side? Oh, because you play video games in the dark?” Allegra asked. Somehow that term sounded familiar. It was probably some Star Trek reference like ‘Beam Me Up Scottie’ or ‘Use the Force, Mr. Spock.’ Allegra had a feeling that a lot of what Alice was talking about would go over her head.
“But I do like cookies. A lot,” Allegra smiled. “So why don’t we wash up here and you can show me some of the games you like. I’m pretty open minded. Well, sort of. But I’ll give it a shot.”
“That’s so sad about Jake moving away,” Allegra said. “I’d be completely heartbroken.
The sun was beating down and blinding her, so she put her sunglasses back on. “Most expensive? It was a $3,000 Cartier diamond necklace,” she answered without hesitation. “But it wasn’t for me. It was for Angelique, my sister. It was a birthday present. Her fiance broke up with her a couple days before her birthday. They had plans to go to Monaco for a week to celebrate and, out of the blue, he texted her and ended the relationship. She really liked him even though I thought he was a total jerk. So I got it for her to help cheer her up. Guys can be real jerks but diamonds are always a girl’s best friend.”
Xavia seemed to be on Cloud 9 with this guy. Allegra wanted to learn more just so she could live vicariously but they were escorted to their dressing rooms.
Allegra took her time so she wouldn't walk out the same time Xavia did. Allegra wasn’t sure if Xavia disliked her. Allegra was constantly worried about people not liking her and she was afraid Xavia thought Allegra was some immature kid. Allegra wondered if she was a third wheel. Both Derek and Xavia had exciting adventures and were dating interesting and exciting guys. Allegra had never even been kissed.
She stood in her robe staring at the mirror wishing she could be prettier. She was stressing out when she was supposed to be enjoying herself. Allegra smiled at the mirror and put her most confident face forward even though that was far from what she felt. "Let's go," she told herself.
She came out and Derek greeted her. Allegra blushed when asked about her crush.
“Oh it’s nothing,” she said. “I seem to be attracted to a different guy every week. Last week it was this thin emo kid. This week it’s this Latin hottie. Oh my god. I caught him with his shirt off. Sizzle! You should see him. He’s super friendly. He sort of flirted with me in the halls once but he’s like that with all the girls and I haven’t talked to him since. He knows how to dress and his eyes. Normally I get freaked out my mutant stuff but he’s got like rainbow eyes. And did I mention his glowing personality? And his body?”
Allegra sighed. “How is it you can get me to talk about things that no one else can draw out of me, Mr. Menes?” she asked. She looked over to Xavia who most likely heard Allegra go on about her schoolgirl crush and probably thought she was even more immature than before. Allegra sighed as her insecurities took hold once again.
“Oooh! A forbidden love,” Allegra laughed. “Sneaking around after Sunday school. How long were you together? That sucks he moved away. First loves are always extra special.” Not like Allegra knew from experience. She never had a boyfriend, but she imagined it had to be true.
Allegra ran her hands through her hair. She was feeling daring but it was a chance for the two of them to get to know each other more.
Allegra honestly didn’t know where Hungary even was. Geography wasn’t a strong point for her. Why bother to figure out where a country was on the map when you could just get on a plane and fly there?
“If you ever want to visit California, I’d love to play tour guide,” she said. “Have you ever been back to Hungry?” she asked not realizing she was pronouncing it wrong.
Allegra smiled at Derek. “So you’ve got two guys. At least,” she smirked. "You sexy heart breaker."
Xavia seemed pretty star struck with this Altair guy. Interesting name. Maybe he was from ‘Hungry.’ She seemed so happy. There was that thrill when you just meet someone and the sky’s the limit as you’re getting to know someone.
Sadly, Allegra’s only experience was when she crushed on a guy. She’d imagine the things they’d do together and what he was like. It never went further than that. She was feeling so self conscious. Derek had two potential boyfriends and someone like Xavia could obviously attract guys easily. Allegra had never even been kissed. She replayed her mother’s voice in her head telling her how ugly she was.
Allegra tried to push aside her sadness and just be happy for her friends. If they were happy then she could be happy.
XAVIA: <<"But Allegra, slow down, lady. You speak fast and English is my second language, darling.">>
“Oh. I’m sorry,” Allegra said. “I didn’t mean to talk so fast. I caught your accent and I think it’s really cool. Where are you from? How long have you been here? Do you like it here? Some day you’ve got to visit me in California. The weather is perfect and the sun is out all the time. I could totally show you around. All the great shops. I know where some movie stars live. And of course, the beach. New York is cool too. I haven’t been here that long so I’m still just exploring it. It’s a great adventure though. I mean, of course it is. I’m super homesick so I just gotta keep telling myself that. I gotta look on the bright side of things. Derek is really helpful with that. He’s super positive about everything. I’m so glad I met him. He made coming to a strange place so much easier. I was really popular at my old school but it’s really hard for me to make new friends and I was so nervous but…….”
“Um, I’m talking too much, aren’t I?”
DEREK: <<"Okay, first, his name is Aleksandr but it's nothin' serious so there's nothin' really we can talk about.">>
“Aleksandr, huh?” Allegra smiled. It was like Alexander but sounded way more exotic and sexy. “But it’s something you want to be serious. I can tell by how you blushed and put down your phone. You know I’m gonna want juicy details. Even if you just make them up.”
Allegra grinned when Derek said she and Xavia could come visit next weekend. Allegra was looking forward to spending more time with her friend and it would be nice to get away from the mansion. Derek seemed really happy with Haven and the bar he worked at.
She wished she had his confidence. There was no way she could just walk up to a guy she thought was hot. She didn’t think she was very attractive and she had so many other faults. Like apparently she talked too much. She was wondering now if Xavia hated her. Allegra was always wondering if people were judging her. Allegra was always sending herself negative messages and it was so easy to feel that’s what others were thinking too.
Thankfully Derek turned the subject to a date Xavia had gone on. Allegra smiled and just listened.
"Okay, I'll trust you on the bug thing," Allegra said. "But if you're wrong, I'm gonna scream and then you're going to have to squish them for me," she laughed.
"I think you'll do great no matter what you decide to go into," Allegra said. "Though I had to beg the administration to let me drop my biology class. They still cut up frogs which is so wrong. Frogs are so cute and they eat bugs too. Can't they use computer simulations or something? Plus, frogs in formaldehyde. Gross. Maybe you should use your power to make a bunch of undead frogs hop all over the room. Just make sure I'm not there."
"Thank you for all your encouragement," Allegra said. "I'm really trying to build my confidence up. I've always had trouble with that. My sister, Angelique, was always so much better than me at everything and my mom constantly put me down. I'm so glad to have good friends like you."
"Truth, huh? Okay let's start with an easy one," she said. "Tell me about your first boyfriend."
“I just love your hair color. I think I might try it,”Allegra said to Xavia. Allegra had always been blonde but she wanted to push herself and try new things. Of course, hair color was something major and even if it was just temporary, it wasn’t something one rushed into lightly.
“Ok, I will take you up on the mini lesson,” Allegra said. “I think flowers are pretty, obviously, but I don’t know anything other than that, so it’ll be fun. Thank you. I bet you are the most awesome teacher ever.” Allegra zoned out through much of school but if it was a subject that held her interest, she was all over it. Her problem with school was more effort than intelligence because she excelled at the subjects she enjoyed.
Allegra glanced at Xavia's CDs. “OMG! That’s you isn’t it? I didn’t know you sang. You have two albums out? Do you perform here in New York? I would so love to see you. I can’t believe I’m standing by someone famous.” The chatterbox kept chattering about music, hair dye and clothes when she saw Derek texting someone.
“I saw that expression on your face,” she grinned. “Fess up. I want to hear all about him.”
Allegra couldn’t wait to check out Xavia’s ‘mini vintage clothing store.’ Just being around these two made her happy and, of course, made her talk even more.
She hugged Derek back then waited to hear about what he’d been up to. “Your co-op sounds great,” she said. “I wish I was old enough to live somewhere like that. When do I get to visit?”
“Haven, huh?” Allegra asked. She thought it sounded familiar. She had researched a lot of mutant organizations the night she found out she was a mutant, but once she found Xavier’s she didn’t do any more research. She wasn’t exactly a mutant activist but she liked the sound of it. “Derek, that place sounds perfect for you. You’ve always been so passionate about standing up for people that are being discriminated against. Um, what’s X-gene Persuasion?”
“The mansion is pretty much like is was when you left it,” Allegra said. “I’ve met some really nice people and some not so nice. Oh, my babies are here now!” She turned to Xavia to explain. “My puppies, I mean. They’re like my babies.” She almost made a comment to Xavia about how she was expecting but thankfully cut herself off before she kept babbling.
“I went to a music festival which was fun. I've been trying new things. I even played a video game. Just don't tell anyone. I've been doing my best trying to fit in with everyone. I’m not super popular like I was at my old school which is really hard to get adjusted to, but I’m trying. It’s really hard but sometimes I think that things maybe just came too easy for me and I need to push myself. Oh my god! There’s this hot new boy there. I think he’s from Colombia. He’s got the whole sizzling Latin lover vibe down. I...um...haven’t talked to him yet and I don’t know if I’ll get the courage to say hi, but I think you’d really like him.”
“Other than that, things have been okay,” she said. “I’m settling in but I really miss you. I'm just so glad that the three of us are going to spend the day together. ”
"I just hope the place and the reason isn't to crawl all over me," Allegra said. "I promise, I'll try to give bugs a chance but I can't handle a bunch all at once. And no roaches!"
"NYU is a good school and I think you'll do great there," Allegra said. "And if anyone tries messing with you, just let me know and I'll set them straight."
"It's my dream to be on Project Runway, but I don't think I'm close to good enough," she said. "I mean have you seen some of those designs? But keep encouraging me, okay? One day maybe."
"Yeah, the mansion is bigger but I live in a shoebox sized room. I'm afraid I'm gonna have to get rid of some of my clothes and shoes. The trauma! The agony!" She was only half joking.
"Ok, enough depressing stuff," she said. "Let's do something fun. How about some Truth or Dare," she gave him an evil grin.
Alice seemed like she had enough to eat, but the dogs sure didn’t. Sparkle ran over to Alice and looked up at her pleading for table scraps. Every once in a while she would get up on her hind legs and yip.
Chocolate stayed on Allegra’s lap licking her owner’s plate. Allegra made no attempt to stop the dog. Instead she passed Chocolate some crust which the puppy wolfed down.
Alice started to talk about why she enjoyed video games so much. She certainly had a passion for them. “Wait, let me understand this. You’re rewarded for learning more about the game and how it works?” Allegra asked. “Like how to program it or something? That sounds awful.”
Alice went on to talk about how she loved the stories and the idea of having an impact on what would happen in them. This intrigued Allegra a bit more. “So, like if a character is about to date someone that you know is an incredible jerk then you can talk them out of it?” Allegra asked. “Or are all the stories just about killing zombies and robots and that kind of stuff?”
“Hey, maybe you can show me a game you like and we can play it together,” Allegra suggested. Alice seemed so enthusiastic about the hobby that Allegra wanted to show some interest. She figured she should give it a try for her potential new friend. “Just please don’t tell anyone. I don’t want people to think I’m a big nerd or anything.”
Allegra was relieved to hear that Alice had a sister that was helping her. “That’s great. Are you two close? Is she gonna visit you here?” Allegra thought about her own sister. "My sister, Angelique is gone. I really miss her. She was kind of my idol. I think about her all the time."
“Well, if you need any help, please let me know. And my offer still stands. I have plenty of outfits you can try on and if you like them, they're yours. Oooh! Maybe we can go shopping together!”
Alice offered to teach new recipes. “Well, if they’re really easy, that would be cool,” Allegra said. “I’m not much of a chef. I’m more into eating food than cooking it.”
Allegra listened to the things Alice was interested in. “I love yoga!” she said. “It’s so relaxing and really gets me into shape. I need to find a studio here in New York. You make your own clothes? I want to be a fashion designer so what kind of clothes do you make?” Alice mentioned costumes so hopefully she didn’t dress up like a Klingon or something nerdy like that.
“Well, I love running as you can see,” Allegra said. “I get up bright and early with my babies and we run at least two miles every morning. You’re more than welcome to join us. Fashion is my life and, of course, so is shopping. I used to go out to the beach every day back home. The beach is my happy place. I’m into other typical stuff like music, dancing and hanging out with my friends. So I hope we get a chance to hang out soon.”
