The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Lily made sure she turned away while Carrick got properly dressed. She smiled at Juka instead. His ego probably didn't need any flattering, but he always reacted so well to kind words it was really tempting to keep doing so. "Thank you, sugah." ”One of the many draw backs!” Carrick announced, and Lily could see what he was referring to. Standing up, she turned back to the boy with a smile. "Seems to me like it's a small price to pay for that ability of yours. Your, um, gryphon form is amazing." Putting a hand on the shivering kid's shoulder she couldn't help but notice it was rather cold outside. She didn't feel it before from all the running, but now that they settled down goosebumps started to appear on her skin too. ”D-D-Do you t-t-t-hink there i-is- Hot –Co-Co-Co?” "Oh yes there is." she chuckled "Let's go inside before you catch a cold."
When the elevator went 'Ding', Lily let her head drop back as she looked down the hall, upside down. The figure in the suit looked familiar. She blinked. He looked familiar and very flashy. Not because of the suit, because of the... Hell. So many shinies. Lily giggled. "Hey Kaz! Gooood evenin'!" Kaz took a seat next to them and went into a horribly long and elaborate way of suggesting they took the party somewhere else. Lily was still looking at him upside down, eyes narrowing at all the tiny lights that her sixth sense was picking up around him. On him. Did he come to carry Alex into her room?... Did that already happen? Mmmm, déja vu. "Kaz, you are shiny." she giggled, still humming to herself "You... Are... Shiny. Shiny shiny ssssshh.... sh*t Sam's here." She sat bolt upright, a look of guilt taking the place of the smile on her face as she looked up at the team leader. Uh-oh. Alex apparently didn't mind. She seemed to be in a bad mood too, but her attention was fixed on the receptionist. Why the receptionist? What has he done?... Lily was confused. Ding. She knew it was Shawn before the elevator door opened; heck she'd followed him home. Lily was suddenly aware of the whole situation. Dizzy, but much less cheerful. Dammit. Curling up into a ball she rested her chin on her knees as she looked up at the guys. Both team leaders were here, and although neither of them looked pissed yet, Lily was already sober enough to tell she was in trouble. Not to mention Alex. They were in trouble. Speaking of which... The receptionist was in trouble too. Wrapping her arms around her knees she felt her cheeks burn red with shame. She wondered if she should go and try to calm Alex down, but frankly, she was frightened of her right now. Besides she was still too dizzy to walk straight. Somewhere in the back of her mind the sober Lily made a point of yelling that she should have been the one to take care of Alex instead of getting drunk with her. "Ooops." she muttered, punctuating with a tiny hiccup and glancing up at Sam and Shawn "I'm sorry. It's my fault..."
"Sidekick? Me? If anyone would be a sidekick it would be you. I've got news for ya sweetie. The sidekick is the one who uses the leaders things. Just like Robin uses Batman's tools." Lily grinned at Shawn. This was one of the few topics when she enjoyed annoying people. Namely, Mr. Full-of-Silver. "Or the leader is the one who does things, and the sidekick is the one with the silver supply." she nodded seriously, and hid her grin by sipping her drink. "Ya I've got an older brother and a younger sister who is living here at the mansion. Speaking of which. Where is she? I haven't seen her at the wedding yet so I don't know if she decided to come or not." Now that was something new. Lily blinked in surprise. "You have a sister in the Mansion?..." she laughed "How come I didn't know about that?" She glanced around. What a surprise. She might have even met the girl, and never suspected she was Shawn's sister. Weird. She tried to imagine how different it would be if she had a brother in the Mansion. Someone with abilities, like her. Human parents' support can only do so much. Not that she was complaining. "What about you? Are you an only child?" "Yup, that I am." she nodded, then smirked at him "Never would have guessed, huh?" True, she was the stereotypical only child to boot. Daddy's little girl. She grinned and shook her head. Having a roommate will do her a great deal of good. "Does your bother have abilities too?"
She was right, Carrick was shifting back. That was a relief, considering their fright about the ball just minutes ago; it was still natural. Lily hadn't met many shifters in her life but she started to suspect changing shapes was not at all a pleasant experience. And he was naked too. Oops. Turning her head, Lily's cheeks colored pink too. With a chuckle, she untied the sweatshirt from around her waist and tossed it at the boy. "There. Juka will get your clothes in a minute." she flashed a smile at her friend, a smile that said only an amazingly kind and caring person like him with his unique and awesome abilities can save the day and the kid's health by the noble act of fetching his clothes. Lily's smiles tended to speak more than her lips. Not looking at the boy, she chuckled again. "I take it there is a time limit to your shifting then..."
Lily was not sure she approved of Alex's methods of getting more booze. Pulling innocent bystanders by the tie was not exactly the X-girl spirit... Hmmm champagne. Sounds good. She was familiar with champagne. Apparently champagne was on the way, and in time with that, Alex's good mood returned. Sitting down sounded like an exxxxcelent idea too. Grinning at the new song Lily swayed her hips and spun around before loosing her balance and collapsing into the chair in a fit of giggles. Singing along with Alex she turned sideways in the chair, dangling her legs over one arm and hanging her head back over the other. She stared up at the ceiling. It was a very pretty ceiling. "Hit me baby one more time..." This night was just soooo much fun... Hic.
“The lights… they are sooo pretty. But they burn my eyes.” "Yeah... pretty" Lily giggled with a dreamy smile. She was seeing a whole different set of lights; tiny gold and silver colored stars in the night all around, twinkling with a happy light, and occasionally even tinier sapphires and rubies and... "Whoa." her usual sixth sense mixed up with alcohol was reeeeally something to look at. Or... sense at. Or whatever... Lily blinked again an swayed as she tried to keep Alex from falling. “Why don’t w-...we get a cab?” Lily stood still for a moment as she considered the option. She followed her friend's example and breathed. "We don't need to, hun." she answered finally, and a grin spread on her face "We are not... that far away." The tiny precious starts were a bit wobbly and a bit too much, but clearly there was only one shining bright enough to be a person. And only one person was made of silver in this town, as far as she could tell... "C'mon." Okay, so maybe it wasn't all that close either. Or maybe they were just walking more slowly, with the singing and the occasional stops to sway and look around. And maybe they made a bee line, after bumping into a wall of two for following the light straight across a street. "Twinkle twinkle Silver star... hic." But finally, they made it back to the hotel. Lily pushed the front door open, and the light and warmth of the lobby flooded over them.
Uh-oh. Alex had trouble standing. After watching her presentation of balance and agility, Lily braced herself for failing the first (few) attempt(s). To her utter surprise, standing up was not at all difficult. Hm. She shimmied into her coat while Alex paid the waitress, and made a mental note with mental lipstick on a mental napkin to repay her later, hoping that that sum did not come from a very important budget she couldn't quite remember they were supposed to not touch. Hick. Alex was less than steady on her feet. Lily was much more oriented, maybe because she had too much blood in her alcohol, or maybe because the whole experience was so new and exciting to her that she was keen on observing every detail and forgot to just go with it. She walked out the door after Alex, and the cold - danm cold - night air slapped her in the face. Whoa. Helloooo dizzyness. “I WILL SURVIVE!” She hurried to catch up with Alex and put an arm around her waist. "Naah you won't sista not unless ya stay upright. There's a sweetheart. Now where did we come from?..." Eyes narrowing, she turned around, spinning Alex around too, until she found a street that looked vaguely familiar. "Letssss... go." she punctuated her order with a hiccup, and then a giggle, and dragged Alex out into the night.
"There's a good boy" Lily smiled as she scratched the gryphon behind his ears. She was glad he had a mythical form. If he was just another kid, she might have been a lot more shy about cuddling him the way she had been doing, but this version of Carrick... had a certain quality about him that made it feel more like cuddling a pet. Or a stuffed animal. Chuckling at the cooing sound she kept running her fingers through his fur. "Look Juka. Isn't he adorable?" she grinned up at her friend in the bubble. She knew Juka had a soft spot for pets, kittens especially, but judging from his enthusiasm so far she could include gryphons in that list too. Turning back to Carrick, she patted the paw. "Be more careful next time, baby." she smiled, wrapping an arm around his neck. So cute. She sat back up when she felt the gryphon wince. What now? It was not the ball - that had been long discarded, together with all the stuff he swallowed with it - but then what?... The tail was slashing around, and hit her on the shoulder; she didn't really care, at the moment she was more concerned about Carrick himself. He seemed to be in pain. It took her a few moments to notice the rippling and shifting. "Carrick, are you all right?..." looking up at Juka, she bit her lip "Um... I think he is changing back."
It was a first. A real, definite, total first. No questions asked. No doubt. No sh*t. Lily was drunk.
They had been drinking for the better part of the night now, and laughing, and talking, and cursing at guys who were far away with no idea about what their friends/girlfriends/teammates/unspecified acquaintances were up to, and... drinking some more. The Hurricane season was over; they did their best to check out every cocktail on the menu, and about most of them Lily had no recollection whatsoever. It was... very colorful. And dizzy. Like when you go one too many rounds on a carousel. Or spin around till you drop. Somewhere in the back of her mind a small voice was chirping about missions, and duties, and self-control. It sounded like a bird. Li'l birdie. Lily wouldn't let a bird ruin the mood. “Oh my God. I can’t believe they’re playing this song.” Alex was singing. Lily grinned, and laughed, and sang along. Looking at Alex across the table one part of her couldn't help but notice that she was still in a better condition than her friend. Knocking back the rest of her last drink, she tapped Alex on the shoulder. "C'mon sista." she called above the music and singing "We gotta get home... before the guys start lookin' for us."
“Can you … even… imagine them… like that?” Lily leaned back on her chair, rocking back and forth with laughter. "Yeah... poor me, I can..." she grinned "And.... Alex... I think our design is... still a lot better... that a guy would... come up with for us..." she giggled, only stopping to take a breath, and some equally important alcoholic beverage. The awkwardness was gone. So was the second Hurricane. Whatever important matters they had to discuss and analyze, they were pretty much forgotten; Lily would have never thought talking about boyfriend problems could be so much fun. All right, maybe it was the cocktail. Cocktails. But still, after all they'd been through, they sure as hell deserved some laughter. And the night was still young...
"Ya we just ruin people's lives here. But I guess if ya want a boring life again you could stop hanging around with me, cause I seem to attract trouble." Lily rolled her eyes at that. "I suppose so, but where is the fun in that? Besides, you are not the only one who attracts trouble, and when it does happen, I'm gonna need a sidekick." she added with a grin. "Don't worry, Callie will be fine. I can take care of one kid. At least I didn't have to fish this one out of a death trap." she added with a smirk. Well, technically Saphirus was not a kid - might have been older than both of them - but he still was a newcomer to the school. Of course, he was one that could take care of himself. She could tell Shawn was worried about Callie because she was like a lost puppy. Shawn was worried about a lot of things. Being part of the team that runs the school does that to a person. Lily smiled at him. "That reminds me, I never got around to ask you... do you have any siblings?" He just seemed like the type a girl would be lucky to have as a brother. Other girls, anyway.
"Whoa whoa, easy" Lily looked worried as she felt Carrick's body shake "It's okay, Carrick, calm down. I'll get it out." She was more frightened than she showed. The ball wasn't all that big, and she could sense it clearly, but still, the gryphon was a kid after all, and it would have been really, really bad to make a Mansion student choke to death during a silly game. Keeping her palm against his neck, Lily focused her powers on the ball. The gryphon was already doing his very best to move it back up the way it went down, so she helped along, pulling on the silver and shaping it into a form smoother and easier to... um. Throw up. "Ssh, almost done" she murmured; when the silver ball finally appeared in the gryphon's beak, she pulled the silver out in a long string, and let it fall onto the ground. She sat back on her heels with a sigh. She smiled at Carrick. "Are you all right?"
“Lily. That could be solved in like 10 minutes...I don’t know why, but I’m under the impression that Streak might wonder the same about you.” Lily sighed and smiled the default smile of a bashful young lady. What Alex was offering actually sounded pretty tempting. Even though it also sounded like something out of a romantic comedy. But tonight was just that kind of night. “Lily. The mental image. It burns my eyes! It only made her laugh even harder, until tears were rolling down her cheeks. "Yeah, mine too" she giggled "Alex, I think we found the new uniform design for the guys. Spring 2010. Fuzzy pants that make Tarzan cry and wanna join the team." The details of the fashion plan were lost in another fit of giggles and tears.
“Totally your own personal brand of heroin.” "We gotta watch that movie when we get home." she mumbled with a half smile. The second paradise was lost, and with it half of the hurricane too. When did that happen?... Alex admitted not being an expert on the matter. She also admitted she had no idea what happened with Sam and Kaz. Now they were getting somewhere. Probably into the deep gloomy realm of girl talk. Is it possible for two X-men to have girl talk in the middle of a mission? Apparently so. Never a better opportunity. “You and Streak. Don’t try to hide behind the finger. If you two actually have something going on, share. Don’t wait for others to tell you..." She nodded at the advice and wished it was just that simple. "Thanks, I guess..." she smirked "You know, I was brought up in the spirit of waiting till the gentleman makes a move, and it is hard to grow out of that." she mused, resting her chin in her palm "Also, I can't tell if he likes me or not. Isn't that annoying?" She chuckled, sipped the cocktail like a mildly tipsy butterfly would, through the straw, and looked up at Alex. "So, in the spirit of others' problems always being easier to solve... I don't know what happened tonight either, but I am pretty sure it has to do something with Sam claiming you as his girl. Caveman instincts" she added with a wise nod, before bursting into laughter.
"I'm sure you'll be able to get her to relax here. After all you were one of the most nervous people here and now look at ya. You're an X-men trainee, you've been in a fight and saved my life, and you're at a wedding with some of the most interesting people alive." Lily grinned at that. Even though she didn't really like being reminded of the fight, she still filed it under 'success' in her mind. "Yeah, I know. How did it come to this?..." she mused in a mock serious voice "I used to have such a comfortably dull life... before I started lookin' for trouble." she winked at him. Trouble tended to find her. Where were they again?... Right. Callie. "She's all right, just needs some support dealing with her powers. I mean, have you seen what she can do? Pure Chemistry. I would be freaking out too." she chuckled "I'll keep an eye on her. I never had a little sister anyway. It should be fun."
