The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Manti had been making due with whatever the hell was going on. Say what you wanted, he had learned how to land on his feet, even if the world had turned crazy all about him. His group of friends was missing, the bike shop was a car wash, and his bank account apparently didn't exist, leaving him without any money except what was in his wallet. Luckily he had enough to tide him over, but still it had been a hard blow. Even so he had managed to get a part time position at a different bike shop. Not as nice or welcoming as his , but they couldn't fault him when they had seen his ride, the one thing that had that hadn't mysteriously vanished on him. On the bright side, he the bars were decent, even if he didn't have his friends here to joke with. He was starting fresh again, not that he hadn't done this once before when he was younger, so he knew he would make it through it until he figured it out.
"L-Leon?! Is that you?!"
The mention of his name, his real name, came somewhat as a surprise to him. Not only had nobody recognized him over the past week, most knew him as Manti, or Manticore. Generally the only people who knew him as Leon was his Family. He turned to the voice, seeing a kid who's face he didn't recognize, which was usually not something that happened, but this last week had this being a common occurrence. "Do I know you?" he said, his tone not accusatory, but more inquisitive as he took n the scent of the newcomer. Very animal scents hung off him, but what caught his attention was a familiar faint but familiar scent he could have sworn was his own. Maybe he did know him, but it was strange he couldn't place the face. "Sorry, been out of sorts, you wouldn't believe the week I've had, care to clue a guy in?" he said, shifting into his friendly banter as he usually did with new friends. “Hey Barkeep, a Coke this way for my friend,” he said to the man behind the bar. The guy looked a bit young for a solid beer, so soda was probably more his speed.
His mannerism was normal for him, Manti was extremely confident in himself, and despite setbacks, let nothing pull him down. His tail twitched side to side in enjoyment of the new company, as he hadn’t had any of his friends about to bounce jokes and ideas off of while shooting the breeze. His first few days had been somewhat tense, he even popped his spine up once or twice out of agitation, but now they were smooth and relaxed, like silky awesome red lion man in a sweet biker jacket. Which he was.

What should have been a simple survival exercise had become what could easily have been the worst week of his life. Leon had been wondering through the woods for well upon a week now. If not for his immunity to toxins, he would have probably starved, but as it was he could eat anything he found, several berries and mushrooms that would likely have been poisonous if he was a normal person. This was not the first time Leon had foraged for food, but it was the first time he had done so outside the city. Thus this had not been an easy or pleasant experience.
He had followed that dumb bat for a while, until he suspected he it was not the one he was supposed to be. By that time he was well and truly lost, and was unable to figure out which way the mansion was, or where Derek was. Despite all appearances, he had not kind of animal sense of direction, and though his sense of smell could likely track, he had never utilized it in such a fashion, leaving him wondering around in circles. He ended up deep in the woods in the middle of the night, wondering until the sun rose, at which point fell asleep, having been up all night.
Over the course of days, he had looked for food and water, taking whatever he could when he found it, while looking for any sign of where he was. By he third night he had a bit of a break down. He had imagined disappearing into the woods, or some other wilderness where people would be safe from his quills, but he had thought if that ever happened, it would at least be on his own terms. He hadn't thought he may be thrust into that situation.

"A tiny camera? Brilliant! You have a mind for this mischief, I think."
"I try," said Manti, pleased at her reaction to the suggestion. He did his fair share of pranks and got into interesting situations enough to know a kindred spirit in mischief making. "A birds eye view would probably reveal it's fair share of secrets." Of course he couldn't fly, it was a cool prospect, but that was one of the things his mutation did not grant him. Well, he would just have to settle for being awesome.
"Artistic statements? eh..." said Manti, not so much into 'statements' the word seemed to be thick with unreliable results, so many things were called 'statements' when in fact they looked little more then meaningless garbage someone threw together and demanded was 'art', "I'd go the college route myself, if I weren't already living the dream." He supposed he could learn a few new things from college, he was a great bike expert, but he did know there were limits to what he could do, and maybe the right school could show him some things he didn't know he was missing out on.

Manti took the verbal abuse of the group with astounding patience for his mood. Bigoted words meant little to him, racist comments were so overused by racists or professional victims that the shock reaction they had lost whatever value they had once had on any side. IT was clear by the staggered movements that this lot of braindead individuals had no idea who they were dealing with. It was clear they would not be intimidated by his size or even the row of teeth, in no state of mind to grasp the self preservation signals no doubt buzzing into the wall of alcohol induced stupidity. "Wha, you gonnna do?" said the one closest to Manti poking him in the sternum, since he couldn't reach his chest. Manti gave a almost evil grin, ready to take the guys hand and show him the fate of the pool cue so recently destroyed, when Ivy slipped in to try and break it up. And then the guy tried to punch her.
Manti was already pissed at these guys for messing with his bike. Yeah that was a big button pusher for him. But what was rarely known about Manti was what pissed him off even more then that, since it came up so infrequently that none of Manti's friends had really seen it. You did NOT try to hurt his friends. If not for the fact that Ivy had managed to toss the guy herself, he may have just launched the guy across the block with a backhand. But when the guy suddenly ended up thrown into his group of friends, Manti caught himself before he did something that potentially life threatening. However, the guy, though surprised, did not take the hint. "GETUM" he cried, only to be dropped by his 'friends' as they let him go and rushed in. Not the sharpest tools in the shed it seemed.
Manti spun, using his tail like a whip and tripping up the two charging at Ivy. "Watch your back," he said, noting the others surrounding them that were trying to take Ivy from behind. He flexed the spines on his tail, the bundle stiffening as he brought it around into the leg of another attacker, leaving a few stuck in his leg as the man crumpled, howling in pain. They were lucky he wasn't using his poisonous quills, the guy would get off with a few small wounds, but nothing life threatening, and hopefully this would sober him up enough to reconsider anything like this in future.

"Ahh so a professional dirt digger." said Manti, winking in jest. He could see where having a pair of wings would come in handy, as well as a small sized form. Of course he couldn't remember when he could have applied 'small' to himself in that regard since his mutation had made him a giant among most crowds. Many things he excelled at, but not drawing attention was not one of them. And he trusted this dragon elf enough to figure that she didn't use her talents for nefarious purposes. Mischief he could understand, he was a guy after all, but he knew where to draw the line.
"You need to get yourself a cat sized camera, take some reaction shops and post them on facebook," said Manti who thought the idea was very entertaining. It wouldn't be hard to find a camera that a small dragon could carry. Drones had them all the time, and even a cell phone was now the equivalent of near high definition filming. He had one himself, but they were not designed for hands like his, he had to use a stylus for it to read properly since his padded fingers were much larger then a standard users.

Anyone could tell you that Manti was pretty hard to get upset, he was easy going and most potential problems were solved by his intimidating size and appearance. However, everyone had limits, and everyone within Manti's circle of friends knew one thing. You NEVER, under ANY circumstance, messed with Manti's bike. The moment the green eyed mutant made his announcement, the sound of splintering wood could be heard as the pool stick disintegrated in Manti's grip. His teeth were bared, and the spines on the back of his tail raised visibly in reaction to the news. I was plain from the look on his face that he was absolutely livid.
"Problem?"
Manti had to force himself to remain in control of himself to answer. "NOOOOoooo..." he said, the tension in his voice palpable, "I just need to TAKE CARE of some PEOPLE..." he said, moving towards the door. He was moving fast, it took all his self control not to rip the door off it's hinges in the rush to get to his bike. His eyes immediately shot to the line of bikes where he had parked, falling on the group gathered round it, the sound of drunk laughing coming from them. The line of bikes was piled against one another on the ground, toppled like a stack of dominos, Manti's bike in the middle of them.
"WHAT the HELL do you think your DOING!?!" roared Manti storming towards the group of inebriated men. They were about to get sober VERY quickly if they knew what was good for them.

Manti core was generally easy going, so much so that it was hard to phase him or work him up outside of physical threats. However, even he had limits, and everything had turned upside down. The streets looked the same, but things seemed off. Not just, oh there's something different but it's so subtle I can't be sure off, the full blown twilight zone off. He had gone home to find his apartment was rented to someone else, and the Ms Wittenshire the landlord had almost called the police on him. He had gone to the bike shop only to find a car wash instead and he was getting looks as if no one had ever seen him before. Even faces on the street seemed unfamiliar, like these were not the same people he road past each day, as crazy as that sounded. He remembered riding through town before getting caught up in some commotion, and then everything flashed and now everything was weird. Even he felt thrown for a loop on this one, and none of his usual group of friends were answering their phones, in fact he was sure his phone was broken since it kept getting people other then his friends. What the heck was going on?
Leon took off after the bat, leaping on all fours. He was easily keeping pace with it as it made a fairly strait line towards where the river supposedly was. He considered overtaking it, but decided he would get to the river first, just incase it made any turns. He was glad he did when the Bat made a circle around a tree then went in a different direction, following what was perhaps a landmark. It shouldn't be too hard to follow it back.
It didn't take long, he was soon greeted with the smell of water and the sound of it flowing against stone. He saw it then, it wasn't too big, but deep enough to fill the canteen. He bent down and lapped up the water, knowing he wouldn't have to worry about anything himself, so he may as well get his fill while he was here. He wiped the water from his chin before filling up the canteen, checking for any leaks before capping it. He should have thought to bring along the water purifying pills. he could have put them in to do there work as he ran.
"Ok... Mr Bat..." he called, unsure of how he should address it. "Which way is back?"
He looked around. No sign of the bat anywhere. "Um... hello?" Where had it gone? Had it left without him? Why would it do that? "Not funny," he called out, just in case this bat had a sense of humor and was messing with him. Still no sign of it. He thought back to Derek's command. He had said to search for the river. He hadn't said to guide him there and guide him back. Had it taken off after finding it? Crap.
He looked into the woods, trying to see if he could spot the light from the fire, but it had long faded from view. He felt the first pangs of fear as he tried to recall what direction he had come in. He was fairly certain it was... that way? Maybe if he hurried he would see the bat and could follow it back. He ran at top speed, looking up for any sign of fluttering, before honing in on a small form in the sky. He adjusted his course to follow it. As he got closer, it altered it's course suddenly, and Leon swerved to keep track of it. Then it did it again. And again. "Will you stop that!" he yelled, feeling a little dizzy trying to keep his eye on where it was going while trying not to run into a tree as he gave chase. The bat immediately adjusted, flying strait off as the sound of Leon's voice reached it. Leon followed, unaware that this was not the same bat as before, which was not fleeing deeper into the woods to get away from the creature that had made the loud roar...

Manti rode down the road on his bike, leaning to one side as he turned down the street to the tunnel on Park Avenue. It had been a day and he was enjoying just riding around for the sake of it.It was easy to get so occupied with work that you didn't appreciate the little things.
He tore into the tunnel, putting on his lights as he passed into darkness. True he could see well i the dark, but he wasn't going to take a risk when someone else might miss him. A he did, he though hr caught something. A shimmer ahead of him that reflected the headlight. However it was gone when tried to see it. Maybe it had just been something shiny in the air, stray spiderwebs or something. He put it out of is mind as he continued onward.
Coming out the tunnel he suddenly felt like something was off, before the obvious hit him, hadn't it been light out? He knew it would be dark soon, but hadn't the sun still been out. Confused he pulled to one side of the road and parked for a moment, pulling out his phone to check the time. It was 3 hours later then what he thought. Had he lost track of time? He must have, it was the only explanation he could think of. Must have gotten lost in the moment. Oh well, he revved the engine and turned back into the street, time to head home...

Leon watched Derek communicate with the bat. That had to be interesting, he wondered what kind of things he heard, though of course he had no idea what if anything how this exchange worked. Leon often finding himself envious of other mutants who's powers were kinder then this. Others could do amazing things, Derek only being the last in a long list that didn't isolate them like his did.
"do you want to follow him there?"
"If he can fly faster then I run, yes," said Leon, not sure how his running speed compared to a bats. To him it looked like fluttering about, but he would probably be proven wrong if the bat decided to take off at it's top speed. He looked in the direction Derek had pointed. It was probably dark, but Leon's eyes merely saw darker shades of color rather then an absence of light. "I'll be back as soon as I ca," he said, picking the canteen up and strapping it onto his shoulder. He hoped he didn't poke holes in it.

Leon thought about letting Derek get the water, as him running through the woods had the risk of dropping quills everywhere. Then again, he had managed to break off a good number of them in his latest escapade, and Derek had 'groomed' him so he didn't have any caught in his fur. It usually took a couple of hours for the quills to regrow, so he should be somewhat ok. Honestly Derek was probably tired from the hike, while he had hardly broken a sweat. He could probably make the run and be back in a few minutes. If he didn't get lost that was. He hadn't really done much tracking by scent, though he knew his nose was capable of picking up different scents, but he hadn't really put that to the test. But he could see in the dark, which was a plus since night was encroaching, something Derek wouldn't be able to do, so he supposed he was the safer choice this time around.
"I should be able to get water in a few minutes," he said, "Which way is the River?" he knew Derek had said it was by the original campsite, but he had become disoriented when he had fell on his back, so he was unsure of the direction.

Manti chuckled. amused by the thoughts of his unusual drug association. "Oh believe me it's very entertaining." he said, "Imagine if you will an lion sized house cat, mix in a bundle of psychedelic hallucinations and 'happy kitty' mode," It was difficult to actually remember the type of things he did while under the influence, like liking through a haze of cotton candy, he just knew that he liked it, and that he was extremely euphoric and incapacitated while under. His friends had shown him pictures of him playing with a ball of string, something he clearly did not remember, but was hilarious none the less. "So what kind of follies does a mini dragon get into?" he asked, as long as they were sharing embarrassing stories, he wanted to hear what Ambrosia got into.
Leon got the feeling he was doing something wrong again. He wasn't good at conversing with others, he always felt like he was making everyone uncomfortable with his mood and general pessimism. His brooding and isolation had stunted and atrophied any social abilities he had once had. He was stumbling trying to keep Derek's interest, unfortunately it seemed he didn't have anything to offer, "I'm really bad at this," he admitted, He was going to be with Derek for the night, so he may as well admit his faults. He had plenty of those to give out.
Derek asked for some rations, so Leon picked up on of the packets and tossed them over. As for water, he picked up the canteen and unscrewed the top. Empty, figured. "They did give us some water purification tablets, I guess we're supposed to find out own." he said, wondering how to go about doing that. In the city all he had to do was find an unattended faucet, which was easy to come across in a sity between back alley hoses and public restrooms. In the woods, he had no idea where to start. "Does the map say anything about a stream or anything?" he asked, figuring that their best bet was something that was already recorded.

Leon took his hand back after Derek let go, he hadn't really squeezed or anything, knowing he could likely break his hand if he tried anything. Still, he felt the warmth of his hand through the glove. He felt a slight ache, as the physical contact sparked at the desire for closeness and comfort. The human desire not to be alone. He reigned in that desired, pushing it back down as he let go. He couldn't allow himself that desire. It he did... it would destroy him, he was sure. He had lost everything once before, he had been down that road when his powers had manifested, when he had hurt friends and strangers alike, when he became a monster, when everything around him became poisoned, he had given up any right to human closeness. It had almost destroyed him once, and he couldn't let that back into his heart. Not when going through that experience again would break him.
"What about you? What's your favorite season? Winter?"
The question brought Leon out of his thoughts, he hadn't been focusing on what Derek was saying fully, but had been aware enough to recall what he had said. However, he had no real answer. "I... hmmmm," he said, the words breaking off into a murmur of uncertainty. He couldn't remember if he had a favorite season, he was sure he had one, back before when he was normal, but he couldn't remember it. Days, weeks, months and years had blended together after he ran away, and his perception of the world had blurred, and he had numbed himself to everything around him. Whatever passions he had had had died and fallen into the edges of memory until they faded and were forgotten. Leon hadn't planned on ever being around people again, so now what should have been a simple question to answer he had nothing to answer with. "I... guess their all the same to me." he said in a melancholy tone. It was not like he could be a part of any type of festivities. Whatever the occasion he had spent it alone.

Leon watched as Derek made his way closer. He could see that he was checking where he trod, on the lookout for quills. At least someone was taking his seriously, he could appreciate that Derek was listening to him. Too often it seemed like people didn't listen to him, like they were so confident that it just couldn't happen to them that they simply dismissed his warnings. Perhaps it was because Derek was taking him seriously that he allowed him to get close without scooting away. Even so, he grabbed his jacket from behind him and pulled it on.
"Will a handshake kill me?"
Leon hesitated out of habit. He rarely touched anyone out of fear of an accident, but Derek had the gloves, and seemed to be understanding the risks involved with being around him. He had listened to him when he had hurt himself, even though it seemed o have been his first instinct to help him. He had listened to him after when he had been collecting his spines. Maybe Derek had shown enough where he could be... well... trust may be a bit too strong for Leon to admit, but something was going on. Leon hesitantly put out his paw, which was large and oversized. Even so it was easy to see his paw trembling a little, as if the bigger mutant was afraid of making contact with someone else. Well, that was exactly it wasn't it, Leon's fear of hurting others made him afraid of any kind of contact, even what would be harmless.
