The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

The Hummer plowed through the New York countryside as Mike and Daria sped off on an impromptu visit at Kage's mansion. "And if anyone gets upset at us leaving without telling, we can just say we were offroading and just happened to come across his home," Mike put in with a grin.

Daria laughed.
"Yeah. It's only, like, a ten minute drive, though. We won't have much time to be seen in this car." she put her laptop away and leaned back in the seat. The countryside was beautiful as the sun shone over the grass and bare trees.
She let Mike see what she was seeing and then thought
Makes you kinda wish things were a bit more normal. I might be in my first year at a university right now. But no, I'm off to question a dragon-man-mutant.
Mike grinned. "Well, we still can be in our first year of University. We've still got time to register for fall term. I've been thinking about taking Psychology at whatever school's closest."
He took a detour down through a lightly-wooded valley, just for the sake of testing the hummer's performance.

"Yeah," Daria wiggled her ears. "Like I'm really gonna bother being seen in public with these things. I mean kids who go to art schools are eccentric, but I think the limit stops at dying one's hair bright blue as a form of expression."
She smiled at the pattern the sun made on the car's hood as it shone through the trees. Pulling out her sketch book and a charcoal utinsel she began to sketch the hood from her perspective focusing on the pattern.
"Well, we also ought to be able to work something out to take our classes through the school. Lord knows I wouldn't mind avoiding taking my classes with a bunch of flatscans and getting into fights again," Mike shrugged. He slowed down, turning it into more of a scenic drive than an offroad excursion. Granted, they were still off the road, but they weren't barreling through at crazy speeds anymore.
"Or we could just risk it... screw the haters, we could kick their asses." Mike shrugged, looking like he didn't really mean that. He pulled the Hummer up to the top of a hill where they could see over the trees... partly because the view was awesome, partly so he could see which way he needed to go.

Daria laughed. " Yeah right" she said as she turned the page and began to start a new picture, this time bringing out her pastels so that she could capture the light of the sun against the brown bark and remaining green leaves. She'd become good at short sketches over the years because she learned that the world was always changing.
Mike was watching her draw as he got his bearings. He could just make out where they were trying to get to... he'd gone farther out of their way than he'd thought. No matter, they had time.
"You really are good... I don't know if I've mentioned that lately," he commented as she sketched.

She grinned. "Thanks
"I know I've made it sound like I had such a picture perfect family. But my parents were really caught up in the restaurant that they didn't have much time for me. I spent alot of time with kids younger than me or with my grandparents and this tended to be what I did in my spare time." she looked out the window...
MIke shook his head, pointing out the rear window on her side. "That's where we're going, I just thought I'd let you finish sketching." He glanced over at her and smirked. "Although, getting lost for a while isn't such a bad prospect in present company."
Mike grinned, shifting into gear. "So cute when you get flustered," he commented, driving back down the hill, turning in the direction of Kage's mansion. "By the way, what are we going to say to start with when we get there? 'Hi, sorry about trying to kick your ass the other day, no hard feelings?'"

"I don't get flustered" she protested proudly then gave up on the whole argument.
"Didn't I tell you? I work on my feet." she laughed. "I say we're good to go if we get past the front door. First I wanted to know why he attacked me..Now i want to ask him about Eliza...he might know what the initials E.L mean..."
"Well, if we don't get past the front door, just 'port us back to the car and we'll book it back home." The mansion loomed up closer, and Mike let his mind stretch out over it.
