The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

"I don't know if he's locked up or not. On one hand, he's an assassin here for Tricity. On the other hand, he's not a risk until that other damned stone is found."
Mike felt slightly selfish as he debated it in his head. He was momentarily glad that neither of them were high priority targets... if someone had been similarly sent for Daria, making sure he was locked up tight was the least of what he would do.

Daria's head raced with thoughts again.
"What can you tell me about these stones? Are they man made minerals? Or rare gems from another country." she thought foer a minute "Another planet? I wouldn't be surprised."
"No idea, all I've heard is that they're ancient stones. The green one gets implanted in you, and the red one lets people control you if you've been implanted. I guess Kaine's got a green one in him, but I didn't get to take a look at it."
Mike shrugged. "I can read minds, you can teleport... There isn't really much I wouldn't believe anymore." He traced a fingertip along her ear as he looked down at her. "It almost would have to be... I mean, a stone that lets someone control your mind? I hoenstly can't think of how else it would work."

"A chemical?" she exhaled slightly beneath his touch. "A chemical that reacted with another..." she trailed off'; this wasn't going to make logical or scientific sense. "fine then, Magic. I liked to think that that didn't exost but I suppose you're right, anything is possible"
Mike shrugged. "When I first mutated, I read a report from somewhere that said that there wasn't really 'magic,' it was all just things that we can't classify. There's no explanation yet for how I read minds, or you teleport, people call it mutation and stop worrying about how it happens. There's no explanation for how these things can control minds, we call it magic. Someday people will figure out how it works and find a better name for it."

"Well. I want to know more about this "magic stone" she made air quotes before returning her hands to mike's chest. "I mean, it's a mineral, which means it had to come from somewhere. If we find its source it might tell us something about it."
"Well, we're probably going to find that out soon. Tricity's trying to find Gorgon... it won't be easy to get information out of her, but she's supposed to know something about them."
Mike looked out the window toward the mansion again. "Darn... Still no Kage... guess we have to keep waiting." Grinning, he turned back and kissed her, trailing his fingertips lightly across her back.

Daria pressed closer against him. The cawing for bords could be heard over head and she immediatly looked up; instinctivly turning towards the sound and following the bird with her eyes.
"You know about that island? Genosha?" she asked absent mindedly.

"um..." Daria lost focus for a minute then regained it, shaking her head. "It used to be a slave base for mutants. It would make sense for whitmore to have a base there. The island is abandoned right now....Maybe a trip is in order?"
