The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

There were many things Skydancer liked about the Mansion. There was the fact that she got free room and board, of course and, given that the circus still wasn't paying her much as she was still learning the ropes, was more than a little appreciated. Then there was the fact that at the Mansion, she didn't feel like a freak. Although she had begun to learn to accept herself as she was and make a new life for herself, she still couldn't help the feeling of constantly being on display when out in the world. One of the things she liked the most, however, was the fact that the kitchen was always stocked full of food.
This particular night, it was late and, because it was late, there weren't many people around. The first thing Skydancer did was take a few iron pills, which she found to be the easiest way to consume the substance. Second, she made herself a glass of salt which which, while utterly disgusting, allowed her to not become horribly ill. Those were some of the drawbacks of being a mutant, it seemed, and she had gotten used to them. Besides, there could be far worse things in life than having to take iron pills and drink salt water.
Once her necessary unpleasant medicine was done with for the night, Skydancer went in search of ingredients for a sandwich. Sandwiches were both simple and nutritious, not to mention far more appetizing than salt water.

Sophy
There were entirely different repercussions for a student that was breaking curfew—after a certain hour of the night, students weren’t supposed to be out of bed unless they had a very good reason. Gina’s reason (as it often was) was her stomach. She awoke at some obscene hour with a stomach that was rumbling hungrily at her, and Gina had to silence it. She needed to go scrounge for snacks. Gina slid out of bed, donning pajama shorts and a baggy t-shirt. Those would suffice—most of the time, she wouldn’t run into anyone in her exploits.
The gargoyle left her room quietly, jogging down the hall and towards the true kitchen. On occasions, she settled for the kitchenette, but tonight was different. Tonight demanded a full selection of food, food beyond snack-type-food. Gina was craving breaded chicken, dinner from a few nights prior, and she knew that there was some in the kitchen. There were leftovers with her name on it.
Gina arrived at the kitchen, and was already most of the way through the door when she noted that someone else was there. She came to an awkward halt, a bolt of fear running through her. They didn’t seem built like a student, and their face was difficult to discern in the darkness—that meant that, unless they were a teacher and unless they were chill, she was busted. Crud.
Gina backtracked uncertainly, taking a step back. It would be difficult to miss her, now that she’d made her way through the door, but the gargoyle would still try.
