The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Got a plot in mind?

When I first read the title, Grim Future, I was thinking grim Fairy tales and something done with that but this is just as good and I loved Future plot.
I will definitly throw Sara in the mix.... Pix might be the one to join those amazons though....
It would probably be too much for me to bring the time traveler Jack into the picture, if anyone is familiar with him. But I saw it mentioned that characters could be coming back to the present.... either by force, or by what ever, Jack could do that. I just worry that it would complicate things too much.
Jack could definitely guest star (though I bet he'd prefer more comfortable time periods over the nuclear apocalypse )--it's probably best if the "coming back" part is more of a figurative "waking up with memories" thing a la that last future Plot, though--that would keep things the simplest. Making plot outlines simple is generally a good thing... players add in plenty of their own complications once things start rollin'. [/unofficial Mod opinion]
Typing on my phone since the computer stopped working again. So I apologize for typos.
Good points calley. Though not to complicate things more but its too bad that a telekinetic moose couldn't be the reason or part of the reason for an apokoliptic fp. I've always loved the idea of us misunderstanding the first message.

Any excuse for a telekinetic moose seems like a good excuse to me. Just my opinion
Having only been at the very tail end of the original FP, how did that work exactly with the memories? Was it a potential future type thing? What triggered it initially?
YES PLEASE! Definitely with Muse, especially is Aura is also involved It would really be overkill with Jude, Muse AND Aura... mmm. Muse could also be in the amazon gang She needs some violence in her life. Plus her power would make the amazons more badass
The Amazons heartily welcome Muse to their Fellowship of Kick-Butt Females. <3
How the Future Plot worked: on a certain date, we started RPing in the Future timeline, marking such threads with [FP] in their titles so people could see at a glance what was set in the future and what was sent back in the normal timeline (normal timeline threading continued for the whole FP). When the time came to end the FP, we again set a date, and had everyone "wake up" back in the present time with their FP memories as dream memories; hence, some people remembered everything, some people nothing, and some people just glimpses, as they thought was most appropriate for their character. While the FP was still in progress, it didn't affect anything in the present timeline; the wake up happened IC for everyone on the same day, so it only started affecting things from that point on. It was a pretty simple and effective set up, and ran fairly smoothly. (Also, it established that we've got an NPC somewhere who causes mass future dreams when something's about to really hit the fan, so the same guy or girl could easily be at work for this future, as well. Not that we need to state that explicitly, but it's a reason to not worry about reusing the same dream structure for things: the basis for it is already there for us to use).
The only thing I'd recommend we do is make the OOC time frame in which the plot runs shorter: the original FP lasted nearly a year, but threading really dragged for about the middle six months (as in, posting almost completely ceased). Making it last maybe two or three-ish OOC months would probably keep everyone's excitement up, with the time crunch making people want to squeeze in as much as possible while they can. We can play that by ear, though; probably the important thing is to have them all "wake up" with their Grim Future memories just before the end of the Oracle Plot, so it'll tie into the end of that plot, as well. (And since the Oracle Plot doesn't have a set end date, that means we can play both plot timelines by ear.)

I totally agree with the shorter suggestion. We would not want to cut into the actual events of the Oracle Plot. I was thinking maybe a glimpse of the future for about a month or two?
And I'm alright with letting people choose whether they had a dream like this or not. If it suits the character, it all might not have to come back to them right away.
As for titling threads, since my big inspiration was Age of Apocalypse, I figure we'd name it after the one responsible for our big bang, so Age of Sebastian [AoS] maybe?

Hmmm, I do believe that is the jist of it, Emerald. After all, we cannot ask everyone to just halt their currently running threads. Then if any threads are taking place after or before the "Dreaming" of the Age of Sebastian starts, we decide if and how the character will remember it? At least that is how I think I am interpreting Gravesy's idea. I enjoy it!
I think maybe it should be helpful if there is a write up too. Maybe either post it here or in it's own thread in the Request board. Just a guide as to what has officially happened to the world so that players can check it to make sure facts are correct and such. Maybe just a base description of the world, humans in it, what happened to the Order, the X-Men, the NYPD, the gangs of roving amazons, things like that. Nothing extensive, just a few facts so that people can get the ball rolling. Just so that people have an understanding of what is going on.

So is the idea that this is a sort of collective dream about a possible future? Thus, its kind of a natural night of sleep in the real world in which time flows differently in the future world?
Cool. I'm among the ranks of young blood who wish they were here for the future plot the first time around, so this sounds like a brilliant idea to me! I really like the "Age of Sebastian" idea as well.
