The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Raina paused and went cross eyed for a moment trying to follow where the green goop was going and realised it went right for her hair. She turned a little red and decided it was time for payback. "Is that any way for an off duty cop the behave? I work with kids... what's your excuse?" she smiled evily standing up as Flipsy danced around her feet. She made her way across the small space between them and percociously sat herself on the edge of his knee. It was taking all of her effort to keep a strait and somewhat seductive face as she leaned in very close to Ruperts ear and whispered ever so softly and luciously, "Well, I'm not sorry..." and with that she took the sticky bowl of soup and put it right on Ruperts head. She stood up like lightning laughing - even some of the people that had arrived were now laughing and as Raina felt pretty on top and started to walk back to her seat she tripped over flipsy. She reached to catch her balance- the humor of the situation suddenly leaving as she feared she was about to hit her head, her face went a little pale and she reached for something to pull herself up- and that something was Rupert.
The situation went from funny, to bad, to worse as Flipsy got nervous, barked, and ran underneath again sending Raina in the opposite direction, she Pulled Rupert down to the floor accidently in her efforts to regain her balance.
When the 'dust' settled, the only noise heard in the entire diner was Flipsy's excited barking as everyone stared down at the two on the floor. Raina had mistakingly pulled Rupert down on top of her. The two were on the floor, covered in green, the dog barking and running around, hald the cuttlery on the floor and the bowl still dangling on Ruperts head.
Raina was red from head to toe and looking very christmasy with all the matching green soup. She was like a dear in headlights completley frozen and finally a noise other then Flipsy broke the tension. From the back of the diner, people started to giggle. It got louder as everyone else gave in and Raina looked to see all of the staff laughing to the point of tears.

Rupert wasn't quite sure what had happened there. One minute there'd been a beautiful woman sitting on his knee whispering sweet nothings in his ear, and the next there'd been green glop sliding down the back of his Led Zepplin shirt. Then there'd been sort of a bark-slid-crash-fall-grab-fall-crash, and now here he was, looking down at his assailant. Well.
Well, well, well.
A very slow grin spread across Rupert's face as the returant errupted in laughter. "Hmm. What is an off-duty cop to do with a trouble-maker like you?" He pushed himself up slightly, planting his hands on the ground to either side of her shoulders, looking for all the world like he was doing a very relaxed push-up. "Certainly can't let you up--you're a public menance. I suppose I could--"
It was at that moment that Flipsy decided to jump on Rupert's back, and lick the glop out of his hair. Rupert's hands slid out from under him. He caught himself just before he crashed into Raina--well, just before most of him crashed into Raina. His lips were brushing against hers. Well, he thought, why the Hell not.

Ali shot Raina a look as if to say Hey now. I'm going. I'm going If the two of you will excuse me as well. I think I'd like some fresh air also. "You two can share my sundae." Ali made a face at Raina and poked her side as she passed by on her way outside.
Once outside Ali looked around for Mandain. Once she found him the fiery redhead walked over to him. "Enjoying the air?"

Raina was beyond embaressed. She almost felt like crying - she wanted to be so brave and make a joke and usually she was so timid... but it had totally backfired. She was terrified she'd gotten Rupert in trouble or made him look bad infront of civilians... afterall everyone was laughing.
"Certainly can't let you up--you're a public menance. I suppose I could--" <rupert>
His tone lightened the mood a little bit and a look of relief crossed her face. She'd lost all that confidence she had a moment ago- something she's really only gained since she came here- and was now anticipating Rupert getting up as she was feeling a little insecure and much like a school girl.
As Rupert went to get up it was then that Flipsy jumped on his back. Wait, did Flipsy jump on his back or did that cop who just walked in throw her on there? Raina's eyes darted as Rupert lost his balance on his arms again and she closed her eyes bracing for impact trying frantically to think of something funny to say to break the tension when she felt something brush against her lips.
Her eyes shot open and Rupert looked just about as shocked as she did. Her own lips were cold. Almost ice cold. It made Rupert's lips feel very warm and she wasn't sure how it was happening- it was like an out of body experience. Raina just gave into the warmth of the moment and with Rupert's initative she found herself kissing back.
Where only moments ago her mind was swirlling it was now completley calm except for the small voice that embaressingly hoped that Ali wasn't watching all of this laughing.
To tell the truth, Raina hadn't really kissed anyone safe from this guy when she was 13 back at her tribe, and even that was a bit of a tribe custom in which when a girl reached the age of 13 she recieved a ceremonial kiss from a young man marking her entry into womanhood in the eyes of the tribe. It hadn't really dawned on her until that moment that she probably wasn't very good at kissing.
The laughter in the background continued and then turned into hoots and hollars. A few whistles too. The two on the floor, covered in green, with a jumping dog- kissing. Yup... this would be one for the tabloids...

Her lips were cold--very cold. But it wasn't the sort of thing that mattered at the moment.
Or the next moment.
Or the next one.
When Rupert finally pulled away, there was only one thing he could think to say. He turned to the little poodle mutt who was currently licking at the floor. "Good Flipsy," he said simply. Good, good Flipsy. Three dogs treats when they got back. He looked down at Raina playfully. "How long where you planning to stay down there?" He asked, making no attempt to let her up.

Raina looked up looking more adorable than usual in her bashfulness. Her face was seriously red and she moved to cover it with her hands. Peeking at Rupert from between her fingers she said, "Ahhh, that wasn't even a first date! Some cop! Arn't you supposed to wait till the second?" she was trying desperetly to break the passion in the mood- not really because she wanted too... but because, well, they were on the floor of a very public diner, covered in green, and... she may be totally carried away in the moment.
Oh Rupert you have no idea what you're getting yourself into
She coudln't believe herself- that she'd just let him kiss her. Or that she kissed back. Was she crazy? She didn't even know this man that well! Plus, he hated mutants!
stupid stupid stupid Why did I fall for this in the first place.... she turned back to face him moving her hands from her face and saw that smile. oh yeah... that's why... she felt herself melting.
"Alright kids, Let's break this up." Raina turned slightly to see a very overweight Chef in his mid 50's staring down at them holding a rolling pin. How appropriate.
"You going to let me up officer?" said Raina in a bashful voice.

Rupert looked at Mister Rolling Pin, and thought, I could take him. But sadly, that would require getting up, anyway. With an elaborate sigh, he stood up, and offered Raina a hand. To her officer quip, he countered, "Are you going to come quietly, ma'am?" Everything from the red face to the way she'd covered her face with her hands to the look on her face just now was telling him the worst: he'd fallen, in more ways than one. Well, as he'd thought before: Why the Hell not. It had been years since he'd done the love-sick puppy thing. This could be fun. Especially since the feeling seemed to be mutual.
"Would you like a ride back to your place?" Rupert offered, wiping a little trail of green soup out of her hair. "My apartment's about two blocks from here--we could get my car, and I could give you a lift. After we get cleaned up, I believe I still owe you lunch. Or would you like to trade that in for dinner, this Friday?" He smoothly asked. He could still feel the tingling chill of her lips against his. There was no way she was leaving his sight until they had an official first date lined up.

"Uh my house!? Uh No!" she said is so abruptly but caught herself, "w-why not yours? Let's go to yours, I mean I've never seen a police officers-" she trailed off realizing how insane she was sounding. An ideas suddenly hit her. "I think my manager would be a little disapproving if I was escorted back home by a man- police or not- though that could be misunderstood as well. It's just er, the kids you know. Can't let them get the wrong idea..." she hoped he'd buy it. "So maybe, I could get washed at your place...?" she was doing that cute thing again looking all naive down at the floor twiddling her thumbs. "... then, I'd be happy to enjoy a real date!" she said hopefully "Who knows, I may look better in your shirts than you do!"
Now, Raina could be a bit of an idiot sometimes. With that comment she was referring to the mess of her own clothes and possibly at the least having to borrow a shirt to go out in public again- but of course, the second the words flew out of her mouth she realized how promiscuous they sounded. Raina never seemed to flirt on purpose. It all seemed to happen by accident. Her hands flew to her mouth.
"Ahhh I didn't mean that like that- well I meant, that is, oh wow I've dug myself a hole." At the very least, she'd steered the conversation away from her home.
As Mandain was standing outside he saw Raina whispering something in Ali's ear. In a split second Ali said something to the two love birds, she stood up and walked to wards the door. Mandain was standing with his back against the brick wall of the diner, looking at central park. He was a bit day dreaming about how great life could be when you are normal and not a mutant, not having to hide for your gift, getting a job more easy, the first thing they ask at a job interview is "Are you a Mutant?" and when you say no they always run a check on your profile to see if you are telling the truth. Where has this world gone to? Of course there are bad mutants, but there are also bad humans, they don't ask at a job interview if you are a bad person? Mandain heard the door open and saw Ali stepping out trying to find him, she looked left and right, and there she saw Mandain.
"Enjoying the air?" Ali said it with a nice voice.
"If you forget the chemicals in the air it's pretty good air" Mandain looked at Ali, "What happened with your sundae" Mandain smiled and took some steps closer to Ali.

Rupert felt like an idiot. Right, group home. Right, highly impressionable teens looking up to her as a role model. He could just picture the scene they’d make, walking through her door: “Miss Raina, why is that broccoli-covered hobo following you home? And why are you blushing?” Not such a good idea. He completely understood her reaction.
"So maybe, I could get washed at your place...?" The thumb-twiddling was adorable, he noted. "... then, I'd be happy to enjoy a real date! Who knows, I may look better in your shirts than you do!"
“No problem,” Rupert began, very eager to smooth things over after his dead-brained suggestion to go to the group home. “I’m pretty sure I’ve got some clothes that would—” He was going to say ‘fit you’, but it was about then that her words caught up with him. He stopped, mouth hanging open, and turned his head to stare at her. It was obvious from the look on her face that she hadn’t meant it that way. But what sort of man would Rupert be if he let that sort of priceless tidbit slide by?
"Ahhh I didn't mean that like that- well I meant, that is, oh wow I've dug myself a hole."
Rupert grinned at her. A not-entirely-innocent grin. “Freudian slip?” He asked playfully. Then he put his hand over his heart, and made an exaggerated effort to look dignified. “Fear not, Raina—whether you’re in your shirt or mine, I swear to be a perfect gentleman. The same goes for pants,” he couldn’t help but add. Flipsy had been jumping all over them both, with her little green-globbed paws: they were both due for a full-wardrobe change.
((ooc: How about after you reply, I start up a “Rupert’s Apartment” thread?))

ooc: Yeah mandain you're getting the hang of the ooc Good for you. Rupert, I sent you a PM on your account for Cal And yes, after this go for an apartment post. You can kinda god-mod if you like, just say they got a cab or whatever... no worries!
ic:
"you know, if my face turns any redder I might pass out and they'll mistake me for a vegetable." said Raina in responce to the qwip. "I'll bet you're quite the gentlemen, but don't think because of that, er, moment, that you've won me over now." she did her best to strike a - i'm a confident woman- pose. "... you know, by the time we get to your place and get, uh, changed and such... well see there's this resteraunt with a really nice folkey kinda band... and I know I'm looking a little punky and rebellious today..." she trailed off with a nervous laugh tossing her hair out of her face and trying to straiten her clothes a little. "... but I like all sorts of music... of course I wasn't suggesting that maybe you dont like all kinds... or maybe you dont..." she was rambling again, doing that cute nervous girl thing.
Raina just didn't have that much experieince with this kind of thing. And Romance or not, Raina always felt a little akward in social moments 'till she came to the mansion and met other mutants.
"...anyway, long story short... I walked past when I first got here, heard some amazing music and it just seemed like a great place. Maybe we could go there!" she beamed up at him hopefully. "Either way...." she started as they began to leave the diner. "I need to let Ali know where I'm going."
She stepped outside and saw Ali and Mandain looking rather cosey and gave a wave. "Don't ask." she said through a clenched fake smile in regards to how she was looking. "Ali, I am uh.. going to Ruperts to get cleaned up..." she looked at her clothes. "Um, Flipsy, Soup, falling... yeah..." she looked away embaressed. "but I er uh... wont be back... until... well... later..." she stammered feeling incredibly akward. "Sorry we didn't get to hang out very much, but perhaps we can later? You should take Mandain back to the center anyway to meet Tricity."
She turned back to Rupert. "Lead the way, gallant officer."
She wasn't sure if Ali could tell what had happened, but when Raina looked up at Rupert she has the goofiest smile painted on her face. She wasn't sure what was happening. She'd known Rupert for what- a few hours? Why did she feel so comfortable around him?
A scary thought crossed her mind. Maybe she was just lonely for 'human' contact after spending so much time alone and then with mutants at the center. She wasn't using Rupert was she? No... she didn't think she was... why was she falling so fast? It's not like she was used to this kind of thing.

"I'll bet you're quite the gentlemen, but don't think because of that, er, moment, that you've won me over now."
Rupert grinned again. He was doing that rather a lot, today. “And don’t you think that pouring a bowl of soup over my head was the way to my heart,” he countered, finally taking the bowl off of his head and setting it on a table as they made their way out.
“Folk music, huh? I won’t claim to have a folk CD collection, but good music is good music. I’m up for putting your taste to the test,” he teased. As they passed Yellow Eyes and Raina’s friend, he waved amiably enough. Honestly, though, they looked a little cozy for comfort. Humans and mutants just... shouldn’t mix like that.
