The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Aura had read about the event and the fact it was hosted by a man who believed in coexistence was a bit disturbing. She has an idea of the concept of acting, though she had never tried before. Despite her worries Aura had decided to go not for the chaos she knew would ensue, but because she had for the first time in her life wondered if their could not be more to her life then killing. Her trip back to the wood's had shown her something she was having a hard time bringing her mind to consider, she could be more then a fighter set out to be killed, she could do something useful.
Her long black hair shimmered behind her as she walked,s he could only hope this did not turn out like the new years party, where her and meld ruined things simply by showing up. Aura also worried that her powers might well be to obvious as if she used them people would know right away who she was. Their was a shortage of people with pink Aura's around them in the city after all. Still if things went like they should, Aura reasoned it shouldn't be an issue.
Aura walked in to meet with the Lady casting something called extras she had no idea what they did but the man who had told her to come to the building, had seemed happy to find another mutant for this show or whatever they were making. While standing there it occurred to Aura that telling them her name was Aura might be an issue, after all, she was a well known criminal with a vast array of crimes under her best, some horribly brutal.
"Excuse me miss, are you alright? You seemed a little out of it. Most of the extras here are overjoyed with this rare chance."
Startled from her confusion at the sudden voice, and appearance of a man, she jumped a little and moved Sloth back into a safer position around her shoulders. "Oh.. yes, I am quite alright... just a little surprised. I seem to have been drafted into...well, what ever this is." Her cheeks darkened slightly out of embarrassment, a light shade of brown that she was well accustomed to, and she glanced down at the check in her hands. "I dont' believe this was intended for me, either... I was merely holding someone's place... but, could you tell me what exactly is going on here? "
She turned a friendly smile at him, taking the clip board and busy look had about him as a sign that he would know. She also held out the check for him to take, not wanting to take what didn't belong to her.
The area, and all of the people dallying about, looked like some kind of festival, or maybe the stage for a large contest, considering what the boy from earlier had said about getting famous. The Gorgon chewed on the inside of her lip, her mind speeding around in different directions, and she adjusted the sunglasses sitting on the bridge of her nose. As exciting as a big group even like that would be, the ever present protesters... and on a lesser scale, the police scattered about to keep everybody in line, wasn't her cup of tea. After all of her time away from the mansion, she had grown quite weary of being places where lots of eyes were upon her. It did kind of lessen the stress though, when there were many, many other mutants scattered about who looked just as beastly as she did.
Maybe... it wouldn't be so bad to stick around for a bit, after she figured out what the event was for.
The man with the clip board noticed just how started the green woman was with his sudden appearance and the sudden sound of his voice, and relaxed slightly in an attempt to show the woman that there was nothing for her to be afraid of, not from him anyway. Sure, this whole situation was a bit different, and all of the anti-mutant protestors were giving him an uneasy feeling too. He couldn't imagine what it was like for a mutant to see all of these people that hated them solely because they were born differently. When the woman explained that she didn't even know what was going on in this place, and it wasn't even her intention to be here, he slowly nodded, but didn't take the check when she had offered it to him.
"I see. Well, allow me to explain to you what we are doing here. first off, my name is Rob Keyes. I'm a movie producer, and what is going on here is the first movie that I have tried to film, and there has not been anything like it before, mainly because this is the first movie ever to have a mixed human and mutant cast with a human and a mutant in the star roles." Rob started to explain as he motioned with his arm at the entire filming crew behind him and one of the filming sets that was currently being constructed. "The purpose behind this movie is to show that humans and mutants can live and work together peacefully. No one else as attempted such a thing at this large of a scale or in such a way. Quite a unique way to start off my job as a producer, eh?" Rob explained and turned back to face the green woman, and saw that her name was Andrea from the check that she was holding.
After clearing his throat, the producer continued. "Now, as for that large line and why you where handed a check. You see, I've been having trouble getting extras, as well as actors or actresses that will be in this movie. So, I'm asking any mutant that is willing to be an extra in my movie and I'm paying them 500 dollars up front, and for each successful scene that is filmed with them in it, they will get a bonus. Now, if a mutant extra does a great job, I am going to offer them a job as a minor actor, and help them work their way up so they can become a major actor." Rob stated, then smiled. "So, do you think you can be an extra in my movie? If the answer is yes, we are going to be filming a scene in that cafe soon. You might even have some fun while you're doing this." Rob stated while pointing at the cafe where Silver Streak, Alex, April, and Glamor were currently located.
"I see. Well, allow me to explain to you what we are doing here. first off, my name is Rob Keyes. I'm a movie producer, and what is going on here is the first movie that I have tried to film, and there has not been anything like it before, mainly because this is the first movie ever to have a mixed human and mutant cast with a human and a mutant in the star roles."
Mutants and humans, working together in a movie? It sounded like something from her child hood dreams. Andrea picked through her memories, trying to pull out a single movie she had ever seen that may have had mutants in it. Unless they had been like Saphirus or Verdy, the kind of mutant who wasn't completely obvious, she found that there were no such films in her memory banks. She did find herself smiling at the the idea, though. The prospect of a film showing that the two could co-exist seemed whimsical and foolhardy... but she liked it. Though she was not as proud of her own mutations as others seemed to be, she found the idea of fellow cursed souls being shown that they were people, not monsters, to be a valiant cause. It was even... heart warming. But... in a way, it was also foolish. Even she knew this. Good intentions only ever seemed to lead to pain and suffering. The Greek stubbornly recognized that. The darker parts of her personality clung to the idea that it was a project doomed to fail, and her subconscious told her to cut ties with it, before it took everyone down with it.
"The purpose behind this movie is to show that humans and mutants can live and work together peacefully. No one else as attempted such a thing at this large of a scale or in such a way. Quite a unique way to start off my job as a producer, eh?"
Nodding her head slightly, she dropped her eyes back down to the check in her hands. It was indeed very unique, but also very dangerous. What if the public didn't like it? If the vast majority was just fine with mutants and humans not sharing the big screen? Or... what if it was a hit, and he solely had to deal with the backlash of protesters? "You must be quite brave to take on such a task... Hopefully society will be willing to see it the same way as you do." She doubted they would, in all honesty... but his words stoked the little flicker of hope inside her into a small flame. Sometimes it only ever took one person to change things, right? Saph had taught her that.
"So, do you think you can be an extra in my movie? If the answer is yes, we are going to be filming a scene in that cafe soon. You might even have some fun while you're doing this."
Nodding her head, she smiled carefully, so as to not flash her teeth at him. Though she was still wary, and not ready to believe in such a thing fully... a few of his words had gotten through to her. How bad could it be, anyway? She would stay for a while, maybe even let herself dip back into the old dream of someday gracing a theater as an actress herself. "Thank you, Rob. I think I shall... Good luck with the project!" Excusing herself politely, the Greek followed the way he had pointed, tucking the check in her pocket as she went. Sloth eyed people as she moved, little pink tongue flicking in and out nervously. Andrea kept one hand on the length of his back, comforting the large white snake as she moved into the Cafe area and glanced around. People were mulling about, being directed places by others. Unsure of what to do, Andrea scoped out an empty seat and simply sat, watching with strained curiosity while fiddling with the bottom of her shirt and waiting for direction.
Back in the cafe, the woman with the clip board had been waiting patiently for someone to ask her a question about the scene they were about to film, however it was clear that no one had any questions. Still, she had stood there motionless waiting for a question for a whole two minutes... though to Alex it felt like two hours. During the wait, another mutant whom had green skin and a white snake wrapped around her shoulders had walked in and taken a seat near April. She seemed to be a little disoriented from Alex's point of view, but then again who wasn't feeling a little disoriented at the moment?
When the woman with the clip board still didn't move after three minutes, Alex cleared his throat, a little louder then he meant to... and thanks to the voice filter he was wearing the sound was a bit robotic and static-like. The resulting sound made the woman jump and she quickly looked over at Alex while fumbling with her clip board. "Sorry! I zoned out when no one had any questions, didn't I?" the woman exclaimed as she started to smooth out the papers of her clipboard, and Alex nodded. "Yes ma'am, but I'm sure we've all done it. Anyways, I think most of us have a good idea what is going on in this scene. We have some private conversations to make some background noise while the lead actor and actress play out the scene of when they first meet." Alex stated, remembering what the woman had said before hand. The woman replied with a smile and a nod. "Yep. That's about it. I guess everyone here is ready. I'll go see if the lead actors are." The woman stated, and then she left.
A moment or two later a young man that was six feet tall with auburn hair and hazel eyes entered the café and took a seat at the blue table that was in the center of the café. He was dressed in a business suit, and had a newspaper under his arm which he was clearly going to be using as a prop. Standing outside the door was the actress, whom was clearly a mutant, since there were small black particles floating around her feet and made it look like she had a second shadow, and apparently she wasn’t going to be entering the place until after the director or producer shouted ‘action.’ Several stage hands entered the café and started to place plates of food and drinks in front of each extra. Alex got large sandwich with potato chips on the side with lemonade to drink. From this Alex guessed that the time of the day in the scene was supposed to be in the afternoon. Several extras had made some requests for different food items because they couldn’t digest what had been given to them. One of the extras, a young boy that looked like he was a living gold, had even requested a plateful of gold and that was provided! The golden boy was so over joyed to see this that he grabbed a gold coin off of the plate and popped it into his mouth, and quickly started to chew the coin with teeth that were easily capable of grinding through the valuable metal. Seeing this, Alex quickly looked up at the menu that was displayed over the counter and saw that in fact, a pile of gold was on the menu. Glancing back at the newspaper that the lead actor was holding in his hands, the newspaper’s date said that it was the year 1250. Clearly this movie was set in the future when mutants are more widely accepted and means to provide for the mutants of the future were going to be provided. This made Alex smile behind his voice filter. The producer’s movie was showing the producer’s vision of a perfect world while honestly showing that this vision wasn’t possible now, but could be later on.
With a small shrug, Alex turned back to his plate and drink, and noticed that the person that had been sitting between him and the man called Silver Streak had moved away and was heading out the door, holding his stomach as if he was having a medical problem. With a shrug, Alex moved over one chair and gave Streak a nod. ”If you know anything about the X-mansion, the two of us could talk about that for background noise.” Alex suggested quietly, his voice sounding robotic thanks to the voice filter. In the back corner of the café, the elderly man and his daughter were taking a seat as well; ready to play out their roles. The producer walked in and took a seat in front corner as a couple camera men came into the café and positioned their cameras. ”Quiet on the set. We’re about to begin.” he stated, and Alex complied with a nod, though his cyan eyes glowed green for a fraction of a second before they turned back to their normal cyan color.

Streak looked around for an empty seat. The place was already pretty well stocked with extras and a seat was starting to be hard to come by. He say down at the bar, one of the only available seats left, and waited for the woman to say something.
She never did. In fact she actually zoned out and just kind of stared off into space until Mala Knight brought her back to reality. He just smiled his silvery smile. When they passed out food he got a hamburger and some fries.
The burger was cooked perfectly, in fact he'd even be so bold as to say that it was the best burger he'd had in a long time.
No sooner did he take a bight of his burger than one of the extras that was sitting between him and Mala Knight disappeared with a face that looked like he was about to puke.
This gave him second thought about his food but it was so good he'd deal with any repercussions later. The robotic voiced man slide next to him taking the sick extras spot and spoke. He nodded, because his mouth was currently filled with a fry. Once he'd swallowed he said, "Sure I actually work there."
Pretty soon the director called for quiet on the set and Streak could have sworn that someone had just pushed pause on the section of town he was currently in. People didn't even seem to be moving and NO ONE was talking otherwise they would feel the directors wrath.
As he looked around he saw the man with the mask on eyes change from one color to the next. He would have to bring that up when they were allowed to talk again. All that remains was for the guy to yell action.
Sam had to admit that the set was impressive; it looked exactly like any vintage café that could be found in New York right down to the napkin holders. The only thing that betrayed it as a film set was the fact that two of the walls were missing and along one of those open sides a mass of people and cameras were gathered. It was fascinating, the cameras the rails on which some were set the incredible number of spot lights beating down. Sam quickly found himself absorbed in a realm of question, how many takes would they have to do? How warm was it going to be under those projectors? With this many extras talking how were they going to edit the background noise?
The illusion mutant was in fact so busy with his own musings that he almost completely blanked the woman who had brought them there as she gave instructions for the scene. And it was not until everyone around him started to move that he realized he must have missed something important. Looking around at noted the absence of free seats, there were two near the bar that Silver streak and Mala Knight were headed to and a booth to which April was headed. He smiled at least the lack of options meant that he only had one place left to sit, so he followed April over to the booth and slid in next to her.
He turned to look at her and was about to start up conversation, hopefully a less awkward one than on their previous meeting, when someone else joined them at the booth. Turning to greet the new comer Sam suddenly found himself sitting very still. The eyes he had met as he turned had not been those of the new girl but those of a rather large and rather close white snake. It was not that Sam was particularly scared of snakes, he had carried one in a zoo before, but the shear surprise of it had kicked in his animal survival instincts.
Still trying to avoid any sudden movements and concentrating in keeping his breathing slow and steady, Sam leaned forwards to see the face of their new companion past the unblinking stare of her pet. To his surprise she was green; well the surprise was not so much that she was green but more like she was green as well. If anyone paid any attention to this scene, they would probably believe that he had a penchant for green skinned women. The idea was silly but it made him smile anyway.
“Hi, I’m Sam nice to meet you.”
It was as he introduced himself as Sam for the second time in the last 10 minutes that he began to wonder why he had even bothered giving a replacement name at all.
The blond woman had ushered everyone to their places before April could introduce herself to the two men. So they referred to themselves as Silver Streak and Mala Knight. Those were obviously fake names. The reason the one guy was called Silver Streak was evident, but what did Mala Knight stand for? Bad in Spanish was malo, so did Mala Knight mean bad knight? She could not figure much out unless she knew what he could do, if he really was another mutant. Both men had been seated at the barstools.
Instead of the barstools, she and Sam were directed to a booth in another area of the cafe set. April went ahead and slid into it. The woman had given them a few suggestions on what to talk about. Acting as if they were discussing homework? Fine. But behaving as if they were on a date? Awkward. Was stuff like this always going to happen to her around other people?
Soon, some other woman had come to sit at the booth as well. She looked far from normal. Coinciedentally, her skin was green as well. And was that a huge, white, snake with her? That definately was odd. April had not really ever spoken with someone who had a mutation as or even more apparent than her own. Under the table, her hands fidgeted nervously. Still, it was not like she had any room to judge people herself. Talking might even give her a chance to know someone like herself. Besides, Sam had managed to give a friendly introduction.
"Name's April," she finally responded, trying hard to mask her uneasiness. She hoped that this woman did not notice her behavior, much less interpret it as rude.
It appeared the camera men were about to start filming. This was it. Would this be a success? Or, would there be a problem?
When the silvery man nicknamed Silver Streak answered Alex's suggestion about what they could talk about by saying he worked at the mansion, the malachite manipulator smiled. He had plenty of questions to ask this man, though he knew the answers to most of them already thanks to his tour of the mansion by Hokee and Emerald had answered a few other questions. Alex already knew that he wasn't going to be applying to get a job at the mansion, but he knew that he needed a friend or two and the mansion was the best place to start. If Streak worked there, then it might be a good idea for Alex to befriend him, and the best way was to ask some questions about the mansion. Who knows? He might learn something new.
A second or two later the producer started to give more directions. "Okay, lighting is good, camera is rolling. Action!" The producer shouted through his bull horn. Several extras started to chat in order to create background noise while the lead actor snapped his newspaper and began to read it as he nibbled on some of his food. Alex started to open his mouth from behind the voice filter to ask Streak his first question when an enormous sneeze was suddenly heard, followed by a horrified shriek. A moment later, the lead actress walked into view of the producer... and she was covered from neck line to her knees in some sort of yellow slime that really stank, and the actress looked like she was about to cry, and Alex couldn't blame her. Seeing this, the producer quickly shouted "Cut! What just happen?!" the producer asked in surprised and shock.
The man that had left while holding his stomach walked in behind the actress, a guilty look on his face. Strangely, he didn't look sick anymore. "I'm sorry, this is my fault. You see when ever I sneeze my mucus flies far and wide in the form of birds. Normally I can control it but when ever I get a stomach ache I know I'm about to let out enough mucus to be the size of a golden eagle. I left the set so I wouldn't ruin it, but I couldn't hold it in long enough. Sorry." the man said with down cast eyes. The producer shook his head slowly and sighed. "At least you didn't do it on purpose. Make up! Get her into the shower." the producer stated, then watched the lead actress get led off by several people that work in make up. "Poor thing..." Alex whispered, then glared at the lead actor whom was laughing so hard that he had fallen out of his chair.
With a sigh, the producer turned to the extras and shrugged. "Well... looks like we're not going to be filming this scene for at least half an hour, maybe more. So, stay here and talk if you want to, I'm going to figure out what to do in the mean time. Feel free to leave, but I'll be back in five minutes." the producer stated then walked away. The sneezing mutant left as well, only he didn't plan on coming back. The 500 dollars he had received were good enough for him now. The woman with the clip board was still nearby if anyone had any questions.
Alex turned back to face Streak, and let out a sigh. "So... what do you do at the mansion?"
After a moment, she turned and noticed who she was sitting with. It surprised her at first, to see another who shared her skin color. Though, in all honesty the other girl was greener. With her jacket sprawled across her lap, she shook herself, stopping the open, unashamed stare she had fallen into momentarily.
Sloth tugged at her gently, in the process of attempting to creep his way closer to the man sitting beside her. A man who politely introduced himself, and was quietly followed by the girl who shared a similar shade of green. The Greek turned, catching sight of Sloth's attempt, and quickly drew the serpent back to her. "Ah, sorry... " She shifted him on her shoulders, tucking his head around behind her so that he could not reach either of the other mutants.
"He is only curious, I promise." She stated softly, offering a polite smile back at them. "I am Andrea... it is nice to meet you, April... Sam." Fidgeting with her hands in her lap, Sloth peeked through her dark hair at the other green one, long pink tongue flicking out to taste the air. Somewhere, there was a mutant running about that reeked like delicious rodents. He could smell it. Andrea eyed the two from behind her glasses, before speaking again.
"I do hope I am not intruding on anything... I did not know where to sit. I would feel just terrible if I was ruining the scene for you by being in the way."
She was sure that she could stand and find another seat if necessary, even if the place did looked a little packed. Before she could ask any more questions though, it was announced the the scene was about to begin. She turned her head, curious to see what was going to happen, before she remembered that extras were not supposed to look toward the main characters.... Or at least in all of the movies she had watched, they weren't.
A mighty sneeze burst out of nowhere, earning a slight jump from her. She turned then, catching sight of the lead woman, covered in an icky yellow goop. She wrinkled her nose, and turned back to the table. "oh...That poor girl... getting sneezed on." Her tone conveyed her sympathy, and she imagined there were many hot showers in that girls near future, if not some kind of complicated decontamination.
About ten minutes after the producer left the set in order to figure out what to do next since he seemed to think that it would take a while for the lead actress to get cleaned up, he came back with a look of relief on his face. After clearing his throat, he turned to the extras to address them. "Well, it looks like we're going to be continuing this scene in a moment or two. I have just been told that our lead actress has been able to clean herself up far faster then expected, thanks to her mutation. We're going to attempt to film this scene again in a minute." the producer stated before sitting down in the director's chair. A moment later the lead actress was walking towards the cafe in a new costume with fresh makeup... and was giving the lead actor a rather stern glare since she had clearly heard him laughing about her getting covered in mucus. Seeing this Alex just shook his head and muttered "Hell hath no wrath like a woman's scorn..."
Once the lead actor and actress were back in their places again, the producer called out "Quiet on the set!" and the idle chatter quickly died down... save for the old man in the wheel chair whom was telling his granddaughter how small she should cut up the steak he was given so he could eat it. Once he was done talking, the producer smiled and nodded. "Okay, cafe scene, take one... action!" the producer shouted, and the camera started rolling, and several of the extras started to quietly talk to the people they were sitting next to. Anna started to cut the steak that Elder was given into small pieces and carefully feeding them to grumpy old man... whom appeared to be annoyed that he had to be spoon fed instead of feeding himself... however it was very difficult to tell if he really did need help eating, or if he was just pretending for the sake of the movie. In the mean time, Alex turned back to Silver Streak and shrugged slightly. "So, you said you work at the X-mansion. What's your job, exactly?" he asked with the robotic voice of the voice filter.
As the extras talked amongst themselves, the lead actor sipped at his coffee and read his newspaper, humming to himself quietly while making comments on what he was reading. "So several golems mutants, an army of earth manipulating mutants, and an a handful of water controlling mutants have managed to grow an underwater mountain in the Pacific Ocean to the point that they made it into an island large enough to become the home of several hundred people. Heh, send all of the mutants there so they can leave us humans in peace. Lets see what else... the first mutant Olympics is starting in a few months, talk about pointless. There has to be something interesting in this paper..." the lead actor stated as he snapped the paper and continued to read.
Right on the cue of the snapped newspaper, the lead actress entered the cafe and headed towards the ordering counter, where a six armed mutant chef stood by, ready to take her order. "I'll have the usual." she stated with nod and a smile, revealing metallic teeth behind her stoney lips. "One mug of gasoline and a plateful of charcoal coming up." the six armed chef stated and his six arms quickly got to work in getting her order together, and soon he handed her a tray with a plate that had a mountain of charcoal on it along with a tall mug full of gasoline.
Handing over a handful of bills, the lead actress picked up her tray and started to look around for a place to sit, but the only location that had an empty seat was at the lead actor's table. So with a nod, the lead actress walked over to the blue table. "Do you mind if I join you? This is the only free seat in the house." she stated politely. Hearing someone talking to him, the lead actor looked up at the woman in front of him that had stony skin covered with red cracks, and quickly glanced around to see if there was someplace else she could sit so he wouldn't have to eat with a mutant, but there wasn't a free seat anywhere. "Eh, alright fine." he stated with a huff, and then wrinkled his nose in disgust when he saw what was on her tray after she set it down and took a seat. "How can you eat that?" he asked as his skin turned green. With a smile, the actress picked up a piece of charcoal and popped it into her mouth and started to chew it up with ease, as if it was just a crunchy cookie. "I could ask you the same question. Don't those eggs clog up your stomach?"

Streak was surprised that he lead actress was ready so soon. He figured it'd probably take them hours to get her ready for the shoot again. After all it usually takes forever to get normal actresses ready. He could only imagine the time it took for a mutant actress.
The silver man turned back to his talking buddy for the scene and answered the question. He would have answered sooner but he figured it could wait until they were actually shooting the scene. "I do quite a few things actually but my main job is security for the mansion."
As long as he wasn't asked about the specifics of the security system their conversation would get along just fine. The voice filter was throwing him off a bit. Streak really didn't understand why anyone would want to hide their voice or their face. Of course he'd been in enough situations that his current form was probably more recognizable than his human look.
"I've been working there for a few years now and I'm still amazed at the things that it can go through and still the place can remain strong." Streak stated. He really didn't know how the place did it. It might have been the reputation that kept it going or the loyalty of the students and staff but it was still amazing to see it come back strong after all that mansion has been through.
"What do you do around town?" The silvermancer did really know what to ask this guy behind the voice filter. He couldn't really tell emotion or anything from it. Honestly it was a bit unnerving.
Once the snake had returned to a safe distance Sam felt a lot more comfortable around Andrea; she had introduced herself politely and even asked if she was intruding. So in Sam’s book she scored high marks for courtesy and at the same time her attitude and way of expressing herself put him eerily in mind of the other green girl sitting next to him. Maybe it that kind of personality came with the skin tone… if that was the case then a whole decade’s worth of green skinned cartoon characters had been sorely misinterpreted.
His bizarre train of thought was rapidly interrupted by the world’s loudest sneeze and a small shriek off pure disgust. That combined with Andrea’s small jump of surprise startled him quite badly and it wasn’t until all the faces in the room turned to look in one place that he saw what all the commotion was about. A mutant girl was standing in the doorway dripping what could only be described as yellow ooze. Sam reckoned he knew where that ooze had come from and the very thought of it made him feel noxious.
"oh...That poor girl... getting sneezed on."
The look on Sam’s face was fixed because he was in fact trying very hard not to think too much about the whole thing. The sight of the girl plus the plate of greasy food in front of him were testing his stomach to the limit. So for a while he concentrated just on breathing and on not being violently ill on either of the girls surrounding him. Thankfully his anguish did not last all that long because the cleanup crew here were very efficient and soon the set and the actress were returned to an acceptable state of cleanliness. When all was set the director called out for quiet and the scene was to begin.
As a hush fell on the set Sam suddenly felt quite excited about being a part of this and he wondered what the script was like. Well as the lead actors sprang into life he was about to find out. He watched and listened to the scene while making sure to look busy as well.
“I wonder if this movie will be any good.”
The question was not aimed at anyone in particular, it was almost just a thought spoken out loud, he was not really expecting an answer.
Once the other green girl had repositioned the snake away from them, April slumped back into the booth, relaxed and relieved that she had taken notice of the uneasiness. This woman, who referred to herself as Andrea, seemed to be pretty concious of what was going on. Even if she did look like Medusa, she sure did not act like her.
The sudden sneeze and shriek caught April's attention.
"oh...That poor girl... getting sneezed on."
No kidding. Seeing that much mucus would be enough to make anyone feel sick to the stomach. April grimaced at the sight, and even slightly threw up in her mouth. Suddeny, she did not feel like eating the food that had been placed at the table. She noticed Sam and Andrea also bore mild expressions of disgust.
"Wow, that one guy must deal with a lot," she stated, referring to the man who had sneezed.
The lead actress had somehow managed to clean up quickly, and the filming continued. Time to make the background noise.
“I wonder if this movie will be any good.”
"Dunno," April replied. "I think everyone'd know 'bout it, though. After all, the producer was defying tradition by making the movie. This was bound to catch people's attention, whether or not it was a success.
As the lead actor and actress started to play out their roles, Alex managed to ignore them by paying attention to Streak and listened to the silvery man's response to Alex's question about what he does at the X-mansion. He wasn't surprised that Streak said that he did a whole lot of stuff there, it was a big place after all. However when the silver man mentioned he was head of security, Alex's eyebrows went up in surprise. "Head of security? Of that place? Wow, that's got to be one very interesting job!" Alex commented, and the hint of amazement could be heard even through the voice filter. He's voice might be obscured, but there was still a living breathing person behind that voice.
Alex continued to listen to Streak talk, and nodded when the man mentioned how surprised he was that the place was still standing and people were still living there. "I have to agree with you. Anything can happen around mutants that are just starting to get use to their powers, and I mean anything. Still though, it is a beautiful place. I was given a tour of the place by a couple people I'm sure you know then, Hokee and Emerald. It's quite amazing." Alex stated, then picked up his glass to have a small sip since he was thirsty, then remembered about the mask covering his face and put the glass down again and shrugs slightly with a tiny chuckle. "Forgot... can't drink anything while wearing a mask." he mutters quietly, then glances back at Streak when he asked what Alex does around town.
"Still looking for something to do. I'm from Kansas and moved here a few weeks ago. I was thinking about asking for a job at the mansion as a janitor, but no one there knows me so why should they trust me enough to hire me? I wouldn't in a place that important. So, I'm thinking about starting a pottery shop instead." Alex stated before glancing passed Streak and out the window to see what was going on near where the anti-mutant protestors were. It almost looked like several people were trying to run for the filming set, but the police were holding them back. Seeing that made Alex a little worried, but not enough to make him want to leave. He needed the money from this to help him start his pottery business. The 500 dollars helped, but he was going to need a little bit more.
Meanwhile, the lead actor was acting as if he was getting annoyed with the lead actress. "Hmph. Why is it that mutants have to act so full of themselves?" He asked to no one in particular with a hint of anger in his voice. Even though she knew that the question wasn't directed at her, the lead actress answered him. "Well, if you dislike mutants so much, then why did you come to a mutant friendly cafe?" she responded while lifting her nose up as if she was pretending to be a snob. With a grumble, the lead actor stood up and left his unfinished meal on the table and started to head for the door. "Hmph! If it was up to me, all mutants would be banished to the slums until a prison on a deserted island was built for them." the lead actor said with a hiss and started to leave. "What ever you say Hitler." the lead actress responded.
The lead actor turned around, his face twisted with rage. "What did you call me?" he asked fuming. The lead actress sighed and shook her head sadly. "You heard me. I compared you to Hitler. Think about it for a moment before you strangle me though. Hitler wanted to exterminate all of the Jewish people because he believed that they were the cause of everything wrong in the world. They didn't choose to be Jewish they were just born that way, but because of that one thing that they had no choice in the matter of instantly made them the enemy of the world in Hitler's eyes and they didn't deserve to live. It's the same thing with mutants. We were never given the option to be a human or a mutant, we were simply born that way. However because of that one thing we never had control over, we're labeled public enemy number one and everyone thinks the world would be better off without mutants being here. If you think mutants shouldn't be around because we are simply different, then you are no better then Hitler. Try sleeping that one off." the lead actress stated with a huff, and gulped down some gasoline. The lead actor stood there, dumbfounded. "I... I never thought of it that way."
Alex's cyan eyes flashed green for a second and went wide in surprise before he looked out of the corner of his eyes towards the lead actor and actress. Did she seriously just say what he thought he heard her say? If so, that was really going to get people's attention.
