The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

"Oh it's definitely interesting. I've had to put out so many fires. Sometimes literally because of accidents that the kids there cause. We've worked hard to get the place back to the way it is now but it's been a tough road with a lot of sped bumps along the way."
He remembered the time when he first arrived the place was getting torn up because of a mutant of Haywire. He was really glad fat was taken care of. Although if it wasn't for that he probably wouldn't have stuck around so long. At the mention of Emerald he was brought back to the conversation. "I know Emerald. She's a good friend I mine. We've been through quite the ups and downs together." Streak wasn't really going to go into any more detail then that but it was true.
The silvermancer listened to the man talk about his trip there and thinking about applying for a job. "You'd be surprised. We've given some pretty out there mutants jobs before. But hey starting a pottery shop sounds like a pretty cool idea. I don't think I've seen to many of those around town."
He was mainly trying to encourage the guy to follow a certain path; not really offer him a job. Besides he seemed to have a pretty good idea of what he needed to do to make it happen and Streak guessed that this movie was going to fund that place.
He was about to say something until he heard the lead actress call the actor Hitler. He realized he wasn't really supposed to stop the conversation to listen to the dialog but it was interesting that he said that in a movie. Returning to his conversation with Mala Knight he said, "I've seen this movie before. It was called the Registration Act. They tried to capture us all but it didn't work to well for them a few years ago." Streak simply stated.
He was pretty sure that a majority of the people around the city and the nation knew about it. Not to mention the whole fiasco that was in Romania about a year ago where they tried the same thing.
Streak simply moved on to the next topic that had been bugging him since he saw the guys eyes change colors. "So what's your powers?"
Alex remained silent and nodded every now and then as Streak continued to answer his question about what the silver skinned man did at the mansion. When Streak said that he was actually friends with Emerald, Alex tilted his head to the left slightly and nodded. Last time he had talked to Emerald, he had made the mistake of letting his depression get the better of him and had talked about the wrong stuff, like when he had rescued a family member from the camps... and Emerald reacted rather badly to it and had scolded him to not talk about the camps again before she left in a huff. Worst part about it was that he already knew this but had done it anyways. Well, now he knew better, and he also had a better grip on his depression so the chances of him falling to pieces in front of someone whom wouldn't understand was a whole lot less.
When Streak mentioned that Alex would be surprised with how many mutant employees they get, Alex only shrugged and chuckled a little bit, which sounded a little odd thanks to the voice filter. However Streak seemed to like the idea of a pottery shop, and Alex had a very good idea of how to run and maintain one, so there wouldn't be any problem with running it. Because of this, a smile started to spread across his face, though it was impossible to see it thanks to the voice filter covering the lower have of his face. He also had a trick up his sleeve that would allow him to create some clay art that no other potter had the ability to do... he could use his mutation to mold the clay in any shape or form that he chose. Only a mutant that could manipulate the clay itself could have any chance in topping him.
However when the silvery man asked Alex what his mutation was, Alex's smile faded. "Uh... well..." Alex started out in a robotic voice, then he stopped talking. "I don't really want to talk about my mutation. When my gift first revealed itself it was more like a curse... and a lot of people were physiologically hurt as a result of what happened. Now they want me dead. That's why I chose to have the voice filter. I really don't want to be found by them." Aelx stated as he answered Streak's question. It wasn't the whole truth, and it was twisted a bit, but it was the only answer Alex was going to give the stranger.
After saying that, Alex turned his head so he was no longer looking in Streak's direction and glanced passed the lead actor and actress, whom seemed to be getting along a little better now, and glanced at the crowd of anti-mutant protestors... and flinched. An anti-mutant protestor had managed to get passed the police and was running towards the cafe with a rather heavy looking brick in his hands. Even though there was a couple of police men chasing the man and were catching up, he kept running towards the set and just before the police caught up to him, he threw the brick towards the cafe set.
Without thinking, Alex jumped off of his bar stool and reached into his leather jacket, and pulled the malachite dagger, Defiance, and his eyes started to glow a steady green. "Look out!" Alex bellowed as he aimed the dagger at the airborne brick, and the dagger's blade quickly started to grow at a astonishing rate... it went from two feet long to 18 feet long within half a second and had gone right between the lead actors and passed the producer. After that, the tip of the blade flattened out and seemed to grow into a wall that was three feet tall and six feet wide. The brick struck the malachite wall with a thump, and landed on the ground harmlessly. Alex let out a sigh of relief... if he had not acted, the brick would of struck the producer on the back of the head. The malachite wall quickly shrank back down into the pole that was 18 feet long, which then returned to it's original length of two feet.
As Alex's eyes stopped glowing and he returned the dove wing shaped blade to the scabbard that was hidden under his leather jacket, the police caught the anti-mutant protestor and were dragging him towards the nearest police car as the protestor repeatably stated that he didn't mean to hurt anyone. The producer's face had gone pale; a result of nearly losing his life, and the lead actors were both speechless. Alex, on the other hand, simply turned to face Streak and shrugged. "Well... does that answer your question?"
No complaints about her presence were made, so she stayed seated and folded her hands in her lap. She did not know if such a movie would become something great... it would be the first of it's kind that she had ever seen... or been a part of for that matter.
"...I do hope it is. Good, I mean. ...Have..." Andrea looked to her table companions, tilting her head slightly in curiosity. "..Have either of you ever done anything like this before? I have not... It is, um... most unusual."
Fidgeting in her seat, she tried to keep her voice low, as the actress who had been sneezed on had come back. Her attention shifted to what was being said... which, was pretty brazen in her mind. Showing the obvious tension between humans and mutants, and comparing the man to such a figure as Hitler... The Greek never would have been able to work up the courage to do such a thing.
It was an interesting comparison for sure, one she had never even thought about. Then again, she tried not to think too much these days. The shout that rang out through the room caught her off guard, earning another timid jump. She turned in time to see a man shield the producer with... something. From where she stood, she could not tell what it was. Andrea shifted in her seat, standing uneasily, and watched as the assailant was carted away.
He had been part of the riot... An Anti-mutant protester. The action jolted her back into a state of paranoia, and Sloth curled tighter around her shoulders, hissing softy as he eyed the surrounding cafe occupants suspiciously. Muttering under her breath in her native language, she laid a hand on the large white serpent, and tried to calm herself.
The police had it under control. She told herself. They had everything under control. "It is shameful how some people act. Needless violence will only ever be met with more needless violence." She muttered absently. Turning back to Sam and April, she remained standing, not wanting to reclaim her seat until Sloth had calmed down.

When the guy he'd been talking to yelled he spun around ready for anything.Streak hadn't noticed the crowds seemed to be getting more and more rowdy outside. He figured it was just a bunch of other mutants milling about and watching the scene be shot. Fortunately the vandal didn't get far. Unfortunately he was able to throw a brick at the stage. A metallic looking dagger was brought out of his jacket and extended to protecting the producer. The man was then promptly dragged off by the police.
"Yup that pretty much does it for that question. the demonstration, however unwanted, proved to tell him almost everything he wanted to know about his powers. "I can understand that. I know plenty of people who used to be wanted for one reason or another that were afraid to show their face or get to know anyone because thy were so sought after for something they did."
Streak had come across plenty of weird situations at the mansion. That was one of the reasons he had a job. Some just needed protection from others even if they were adults. "I guess that about wraps this scene up. I hope they got what they needed before everything went crazy." But that was show biz and if he was going to be in this movie he would have to be used to it.
The silvermancer didn't want to bring it up but even the mask and voice filter wouldn't stop whoever was looking for Mala Knight if they really wanted to find him. There were always the videos of the interviews that could be stolen.
Alex nodded when the silvery man said that he could understand why Alex would want to hide his powers at first, though it was now clear what Alex's powers were. With that fact known, Alex let out a heavy sigh and slowly removed the voice filter and turned it off. "Well, since I had to use my gift in broad daylight, in front of a large crowd, and while on camera... I think it's save to say that the world is going to see that. No point in hiding anymore, is there? Same thing goes for that bad nickname. What was I thinking when I said Mala Knight? People, just call me Rook." Alex stated, his voice no longer hindered by the voice filter. He turned to face the director and offered the voice filter back to the man, but the r\producer just shook his head. "You don't need to give it back. It's your for keeps... Rook." the producer stated.
After saying that, the producer turned to face Streak and shook his head again. "And sadly we weren't done with this scene. Our lead actors were supposed to leave the set out the front door while talking some more. We're going to need to start over." the director stated. The lead actress laughed in response though. "I don't think that's possible at the moment. Some buddy here is a little bit shocked from that display of yours Rook." the lead actress stated as she pointed at the lead actor...who's cheeks were flushed red and had a large wet stain on the front of his pants. Seeing the brick nearly hit the producer had scared the lead actor half to death. Seeing this, the producer shook his head and flicked his thumb towards the makeup trailer.
As the lead actor walked away with very little dignity left, the producer turned to face the extras. "Well, since I know it will take him a little while to change and get cleaned up, we're going to put this scene on hold and we're going to move over to an action scene that he's not involved in. Any extra that wants to share a part in this is free to join in. Otherwise, you are free to walk around or watch." the producer stated, and then left, heading in the direction of what looked like a concrete slab with some skateboarding ramps on it. With a shrug, Alex tucked the voice filter into his back pocket and followed him. "Might as well watch..."
During all of this, the old mutant that wanted everyone to call him Elder had his eyes locked on Alex with a puzzled look on his face, as if he was considering something. His granddaughter seemed to notice and slowly nodded before she assisted her grandfather into his wheelchair.
Sam barely had time to take in the girls opinions on the movies likelihood of success before something unexpected happened. There was some kind of disturbance happening but from where he was he had almost no visibility. He strained to see if he could get a better view but his attempts proved futile as Andrea was doing the same thing and subsequently blocking even more of his field of vision. Then a loud crunch and nothing. People were talking anxiously but there was no screaming or other outwards signs of panic so he figured that whatever had happened must now be under control. Andrea was standing and looking around anxiously, the large white snake hissing with displeasure, so Sam turned to look enquiringly at April wondering if she had seen more than he had.
"It is shameful how some people act. Needless violence will only ever be met with more needless violence."
Ok so that ruled out the accident hypothesis; which left some kind of assault. The illusion mutant did not like the sound of that, there were too many mutants gathered here it would not take much to set off some kind of disaster. He knew to what kind of lengths fear could push people and all it would take was for a couple of mutants with offensive powers to lose it and this place could become ground zero.
“This is like playing with fire… if something goes wrong; it’s going to go seriously wrong.”
He made sure to put emphasis on the word “seriously” as he felt like he needed to have other people understand his concerns. As he said that it was announced that this scene was to be postponed because the lead actor needed some time to himself. This suited Sam down to the ground, he was starting to feel a bit claustrophobic in this booth. The inability to see what was going on around him had set his nerves on edge. As for the option to go and participate in the next scene, he figured he’d pass. The danger room had already shown him that when it came to action his skills were seriously lacking. But it might be interesting to go and watch how these things were put together.
Hitler metaphor? That was bluntly straightforward. Sure, discriminating against those who were different was wrong, and the logic made sense, but most people would not like being compared to him. There was little doubt that this movie was going to go against society's grain, and even less that there would be consequences.
Then came a loud crash. Instinctively, April slipped towards the floor, leaving the edge of the table at eye level. Once it became apparent that things were under control, she returned to her original position. Andrea was still standing, while Sam was looking at her as if to ask if she had seen what happened. But, she did not see what had happened. Maybe something fell.
"It is shameful how some people act. Needless violence will only ever be met with more needless violence."
Yep, it went against society's grain, all right. So someone had tried to throw or push something. April's eyes flicked to and fro, quickly scanning the area. The police seemed to have a handle on things now, but suddenly, the place did not feel safe. Well, it was more like the place felt even more dangerous. How could people do such things? It was not like anyone there decided to be a mutant.
“This is like playing with fire… if something goes wrong; it’s going to go seriously wrong. Shall we move then?”
"Wow, someone could've been hurt," she stated under her breath. No arguing with what the other two said. Moving away from the set's edge did seem like a good idea, too. That way, they would be out of the danger zone, or at least the places where an angry protester could easily attack. "Is there a safer spot?" It was not like there were many places to sit on the crowded set. Not to mention, others probably wanted safer seats as well.
As Alex followed the producer towards the set that they were going to be filming the action scene at, the lead actress walked up next to him and gave him a gentle nudge with her elbow, and the malachite manipulator was surprised to find that her skin felt like rock and was quite hot to the touch. "Hey. Nice save there with that brick. You're power is amazing." she said with a smile through her gray lips. Alex shrugged at first, then nodded. "I guess my gift is amazing, but its not without a price. I have to be honest that I'm worried about this movie now. If this place wasn't a powder keg before hand, it surely is now." Alex responded, then the lead actress only rolled her eyes. "Oh please. Look at how many mutants there are here? We can handle ourselves against a couple of protestors that lose their tempers. You proved that. Besides, the police are here to make sure that nothing like that happens again." she replied, and Alex found himself wishing that she would take the whole situation a little bit more serious.
While she was next to him though, he decided to ask a question that needed answering. "I'm wondering... is there a reason why your lines require you to call that guy Hitler? That could cause quite an uproar." Alex stated, and the lead actress shrugged. "Well, in reality I was told to ab-lib that line, and I thought it fit. I mean, think about it? Mutants are being persecuted, blamed for stuff that they aren't guilty of, attacked, and even murdered for simply being born differently. Hitler wanted to exterminate the Jews for being different, and the whole world was horrified by it when they found out, and yet people aren't worried about mutants. Africans were enslaved simply because they had different skin color. At the end of the civil war they were freed and later on were given equal rights. The whole planet rejoiced... but they don't want mutants to have equal rights. If they aren't told how bad this is, they will never know. Only until they realize just how wrong they are will they finally listen to us and stop treating us like dirt." the lead actress explained. Alex nodded, understanding her point of view... but he still disagreed with it. "Maybe so, but if you try to force your point of view onto someone to quickly, people will view you as a tyrant and fight back. This has to be done slowly and gently." Alex stated. The lead actress only sighed and shook her head. "Tell that to the mutants whom have been killed by humans whom think we're a disease. You'll wise up some day. Later cutie pie." the lead actress stated, then burst out laughing as Alex blushed from being called a cutie pie. Elder and his granddaughter, whom had been following Alex, also laughed when they saw this. "Young man, you might want to take care of that blushing problem of yours." Elder stated with a smile as his granddaughter pushed him in his wheelchair.
Feeling his face becoming hot, Alex looked away from the lead actress and looked in the direction that he was walking and saw the filming set. From where he was standing, it looked like the filming set was actually a large skateboard park, and there were several small cranes around the skate park that had rigging hanging from them. Clearly there were going to be some stuntmen flying around the place on wires. From where he was standing though, Alex was having trouble seeing where he could find a place to stand and watch the action scene. With a shrug, Alex glanced back at the other extras that were following him. "Anyone see a good place for us to stand and watch? I don't see any on this side."
She was unsure if moving on was the best idea... but figured that there was a better chance of blending into the crowd if she wasn't by herself. So, she followed along, fidgeting with her hands in her pockets the whole way, her jacket tucked in the crook of one arm.
As they transitioned between sets, she took to wondering about what the next scene would be like. It was supposedly action related, if she had heard right over the murmur of other mutants talking. The Greek hoped dearly that it would be better secured to prevent any more incidents from happening, especially with any type of fighting going on. While the others questioned the best place to stand and watch, she neglected to notice if she had separated herself form the two she had been sitting with. Carving a path between people standing around, since she was too short to see over heads, and slim enough to squeeze between others easily.
The few who noticed her politely let her pass, while those who didn't hear her pardon herself as she moved, or just didn't give a damn, were treated to an angry snake. One who didn't like being touched with elbows and shoulders and was quite happy with voicing his displeasure with hisses loud enough to earn her a nice little bubble of space to see, big enough for a few people to stand on either side of her, right up at the front of the crowd.
She was too busy staring at the cranes and rigging to really care how Sloth might have been affecting those around her, though. Images of the circuses she had seen on TV as child came flooding back, and she found herself filled with a giddy, child like joy for a few moments.

Streak was a little disappointed that the scene was over. Maybe they would get another shot at this scene a little later on. He stood up as everyone in the room started to filter out. Many of them seemed to be going to where the next scene was being shot. He decided to join them. Before he left he grabbed his plate and took the hamburger with him. It was a good burger. There was nothing wrong with taking free food to go. He hadn't eaten much today so the free burger was a blessing and he was going to take it with him.
A silver smile crossed his face as he watched the man, now without the voice filter on, talk to the lead actress. It was funny that the whole conversation seemed to have happened before with him. He'd been on both sides of the conversation before, of course he never ended with calling someone 'cutie pie'. Maybe he should try that sometime it might just lighten the mood up enough. The elder man and his daughter rolled out and headed in the direction of the masses. Streak decided to join them.
There were a few spots but the place was filling up quickly. It seemed like all the mutants wanted to see what was going on with the fight scene and wanted to see how it was going to play out with a human and mutant. He'd been in plenty of these situations so he really didn't need to see how it was going to end up. Unless the guy pulled out a gun and shot the mutant or the mutant took pity on the man the mutant would probably win. This was all taken from experience, none of it came from the fact that he knew what the direction the director wanted to take with this. Depending on him and the writers it could go either way. Streak took another bite of his burger and found a spot between a couple of the extras that were in the coffee shop with him. There was an empty spot next to him, and from his spot he could see pretty well. Luck was the only way he found this spot.
As Alex looked for a place to stand and watch the action sequence, he noticed that the green skin woman with snake like hair was making her way through the crowds with ease, thanks to her small size and the large white snake that was hissing rather threateningly at the people that got to close to the woman or the snake. At first Alex wondered if he could join her, but looked around a little more to see if there was another spot he could watch. He then noticed Streak had also found a place to watch, and he happened to be with the older man that called himself Elder and his granddaughter. After thinking about it for a moment, Alex went to join the snake woman, though once he had elbowed his way though the crowd he stayed a good foot away from her to give that white snake of hers a wide birth. "Mind if I join you?" Alex asked politely before turning to look down at the skate park.
As he looked down, he noticed that there were quite a few stunt doubles in the skate park area, all dressed up in what looked like a gang uniforms, complete with leather jackets with spikes on the shoulders, though most of them were carrying large rifles that Alex assumed were loaded with blanks... at least he hoped so. They were already in their positions for the scene, hiding behind several different cement ramps. The lead actress was also walking onto the filming set in the same set of clothes that she had on in the cafe, which made Alex wonder how come she didn't change costumes for this action sequence. Surely they weren't going to have her attempt to enter a fight while wearing a dress, were they?
Before Alex could voice his question, the producer shouted "Alright, remember that this is just a rehearsal for the combat part of this scene. We can't do the rest of it until the our lead actor gets back here. Alright, Action!" All of the stunt doubles rushed out of their hiding places and aimed their weapons at the lead actress. At first, she seemed worried, but then relaxed. "Well... most people says its a bad idea to bring a knife to a gun fight... however you guys have brought a gun to a mutant fight! Bad move! the lead actress stated before her entire body seemed to ignite with flames that shot off white sparks. Her clothes were quickly brunt away, revealing a flame proof body suit under her clothes that were mostly black in color with red trim around the waist. Alex recognized the type of fire right away. "Thermite. So that's how she cleaned off all of that slime so quickly. She burnt it off, along with all of the ruined clothes." Alex stated quietly as the lead actress acted like she was throwing a baseball, and launched a baseball sized fireball that had left a trail of white sparks and it flew through the air and exploded when it hit the ground near one of the stunt doubles. The stunt double that the thermite landed near seemed to be thrown into the air, but in reality he was just being lifted up into the air by a pulley and harness. Alex smiled and shook his head. "Huh, so that's what all of these safety lines are for..." Alex thought out loud, then shrugged. This was going to be one interesting movie...
Making their way between one set and another turned out to be a cramped thing; it appeared that most of the extras that had been hired wanted to see what an action scene looked like. Sam spent the trip in silence content with looking around and gawking at all of the different equipment needed to film a movie. The location for the action scene was easy enough to spot because it hosted a bunch of small cranes that were probably to be used to fly people around.
Looking at all these things and thinking about the 500 dollars that he now had in his wallet he took the time to try and imagine just how much money was sunk into a project like this. Oh sure you heard on the news that this movie or that movie had cost 150 million but until now that had just been an abstract figure to Sam. The reality of it came as a bit of shock and on that thought of money he started to wonder just how rich his rich friend Celeste was…
Reaching the edge of the set made him pay attention to the people around him once more. It turned out that there was only one familiar face left and that was April, what had happened to Andrea or the others he had met not long ago he could not say. Not that it really mattered to him as he had not expected to meet anyone he knew here anyway. He did however remember how awkward their previous meeting at the mansion had been and he decided to make an effort to be sociable today.
“So what do you think of your first movie experience so far? Did you ever expect to be doing something like this… I certainly didn’t.”
Which was true but now that he was here he would not have missed it for the world. There was so much to see and discover and the money was not a bad thing either. And on top of all that he would get to gloat about it to Celeste who had decided to snob the event. The idea brought a smile to his lips, he was being childish again but he didn’t care being an adult was not all that it was cut out to be anyway.
He had been watching the lead actress as she made her way down into the set and he wondered what had made her agree to do this. She was very clearly a mutant and if this project went wrong or ended up a flop this may well ruin her life. Maybe the money was too good to pass up? As he watched the girl then pretty much set herself on fire; well at least that explained her powers. Apparently that was the cue to start rehearsing the scene and the madness started with what appeared to be a fireball.
“Wow, now if you’re going to be a mutant. That’s the kind of kick ass power you hope to get.”
He said that out loud not aiming it at anyone in particular but he knew that April would understand. After she had already seen how bitter he was about his abilities.
(OOC: So sorry about the late response. Been busy!)
One thing was certain. Movie sets were a busy, busy place. One moment she was at the booth in the diner set, and the next, everyone had gone to watch the filming of some action scene. It seemed Andrea had gone somewhere else, leaving her with Sam.
“So what do you think of your first movie experience so far? Did you ever expect to be doing something like this… I certainly didn’t.”
"Well, it's definitely a bit scary," she replied with a nervous laugh. For one, she was nervous about being seen on camera. But, even more, the protester incident earlier could have ended disastrously. "I mean, a lot of people are seeing this, and who know how they'll act."
All eyes were on the set as the scene started. This was going to be interesting to watch. Then there was a flash, and April felt a rush of heat. Oh my God!
“Wow, now if you’re going to be a mutant. That’s the kind of kick ass power you hope to get.”
"Wow... that looked dangerous," April said in surprise. I sure hope the fire department is keeping watch. Certainly, that seemed like the type of power that could get you into trouble if you abused it. And, Sam seemed almost jealous. Figures. Guys like blowing stuff up. "Kinda cool, though," she added. At least the actress was not using her power for destructive purposes.
OOC: Following Rook's departure, I'm closing off this mini plot seeing as he was running it...
The rest of the day on set was spent filming the action scene and Sam spent a good part of it marveling at the whole process. He learnt a lot that day about the effort it took to make a movie and by the end of it he was seriously glad that he had not decided to become a movie star. It looked so difficult to change your personality and expressions instantly as the word “action” resounded across the set. And then you would only be filming a couple of minutes at a time over and over again.
The illusion mutant had done some theatre acting and he decided that he liked that best; at least the story flowed from one end to the other without interruption.
