Everyday clothing style: She is a mostly
tee shirts and jeans kind of girl with sneakers and a hoodie most of the time. Gwen likes to wear what she wants and be comfortable. Most of her clothes come from thrift shops and the like and a few holes really don’t bother her. As far as she is concerned holes add character.
Uniform: None
Sleepwear: She sleeps where she can so she tends to wear what she has on. Usually her warmest clothes.
Miscellaneous clothing: She has a
necklace she wears all the time no matter what she is wearing. It was given to her by her old case worker, the only person that has ever really cared about her.
CharacterPersonality: To say Gwen is untrustworthy is an understatement. She has been thrown around and hurt by too many people to trust almost anyone these days. She does what she can to get by and that is enough. She is a really creative and introverted girl who has a hard time sharing anything with others. That is probably the reason she does portraits instead of selling her actual art. She is terrified of getting to close to someone and having them once again turn their back on her. It is because of this untrustworthy nature that Gwen can come off as cold or bitchy when you first meet her. She tries her best to keep people at an arm’s length so there is no risk of ever getting to close. But if you do have the privilege of getting past her outer walls you’ll get to see that she is loyal and down right kind when she wants to be. Sure she is full of sarcasm and jokes at your expense but when it comes down to it friends are important. She only lets a few in and once they’re in their there for life.
Gwen is an excessively creative person. Because she keeps to herself most of the time she finds that creativity is the best way to show how she is feeling without ever having to talk to someone. She can let out all the emotions that are within her without the risk of exploding when she least means it. She has been treated terribly she is not going to turn around and take that anger out on someone that doesn’t deserve it. Just because she doesn’t trust people doesn’t mean they don’t deserve respect from her. People are people and they should be treated like it.
Hobbies/ Interests:- Drawing. Her favorite medium is people.
- Sneaking into movies. Gwen loves to escape into a good old movie but as she is super poor she tends to get into them illegally.
- Photography. She is always taking pictures with this old camera she got at a pawn shop and like drawing she loves to use people and what they are doing as her medium. She sits in the park and takes pictures because the people are always moving too fast to draw. She occasionally draws them if they inspire her.
- Cooking. She hasn’t done it since she left her ‘parents’ but she used to love it. You never realize the value of a cooked meal until you don’t have them anymore.
Job or part time job and description: She is currently living on the streets so she does what she can to get by. She will work doing the occasional odd job and has learned that hand outs are a good thing when you haven’t eaten for days. She also sells her art and offers portraits in Central Park. She usually ends up drawing tourists and dogs but money is money. … She has also been known to do the occasion mugging when she is in a pinch. Sure it isn’t’ the best and most legal way of getting money but once again you do what you have to to survive.
Fears/ phobias/ concerns: She is rather optimistic about whether she will be able to get off of the streets but there is a part of her worries that she will die on the streets of New York after a year of nothing.
Special talents: She is amazing at fine artist.
MoralityGood/ bad/ neutral/ other: Neutral. She has a very hard time trusting anyone not just humans. Because of this either side has its ups and its downs. She is a good person but could be persuaded either way.
MutationsMutation description: Mutant Detection and Location
Generic Facts:- She can always sense whether there are mutants around her and the more there are the stronger the feeling.
- Her powers are always active and she constantly has the feeling of not being alone and that she is surrounded by people.
- She has a constant strain on her psychically and as such she gets headaches. They are minor and she can control them with medication as well as just being used to them.
- Without concentrating she cannot control the radius of her senses. (Radius determined by Attribute Profile)
Her mutation is divided into the following levels and each has its own strengths and weaknesses –
- She can sense if there are mutants in the area and how many there are.
- This requires very little thought. No more than it would take to recall a fact or solve a simple math problem
- At this level she can make her radius smaller if need be, but she cannot go past the max radius. (Radius determined by Attribute Profile)
Weaknesses –
- She cannot sense anyone that is not a mutant.
- At this stage she cannot yet differentiate between mutants of any kind.
- When she uses this ability she can get anywhere from a major headache to a blistering migraine depending on the radius of her space. The building she is in will give her a major headache, while the max radius of her powers will give her a blistering migraine. Neither can be fixed with generic medications.
Level 2 – Mutation Identification
- This level requires far more extensive concentration. It is the same as if you were reading a book or deep in thought. You are not totally unaware of your surroundings but not completely dead to the world.
- At this level she can only tell a very basic description of mutations, i.e. fire elemental, that are in the city. She cannot tell where any of them are, but does know how many people have each one.
- At this level she can make her radius smaller if need be, but she cannot go past the max radius. (Radius determined by Attribute Profile)
Weaknesses-
- The psychic power required for this puts a small strain on her brain and causes minor brain bleeds that can be healed naturally. These bleeds cause blistering migraines.
- Though she knows how many mutants in the given area have any given mutation she could not tell you which ones individual mutants have if you pointed them out in a crowd.
Level 3 – Refined Mutation Identification and Location
- This level puts her in a trance like state that is must like sleeping with your eyes open. Her eyes get this glossy film over them and look as if she is blind, but in her mind she can see the person she is looking for by face and surroundings.
- At this level she can not only tell a person’s exact mutation, still only basic description, but she can find their location within her given max radius. She pictures a map in her head and moves randomly about it sensing the area into a smaller and smaller point until she pinpoints their locations. She tends to have a map in front of her and will point it out the second she gets out of the trance. If she does not have a map she can write it down but this is not like GPS and she will not have an exact address. She will have instead a generic street or building name that they are located within.
- Thanks to her art abilities she can also draw the face of the mutant as she saw it in her head immediately after in well enough detail.
- At this level she can make her radius smaller if need be, but she cannot go past the max radius. (Radius determined by Attribute Profile)
Weaknesses –
- The psychic power required for this puts a large strain on her brain and it can cause anywhere between minor and major brain bleeds depending on length of time in trace. These bleeds cause blistering migraines, the need for medical attention and eventually death. She can hold out for about 15 min before any major bleeds, ones that will require medical attention, begin. That being said, she can reach the end of her radius without any major obstructions in about 13 min. The closer the subject that faster they will be found.
- If someone is moving she will have a much harder time pinpointing their location and even if she does she cannot guarantee they will still be there moments later.
- If a person is inside she may not be able to locate them at all. This all depends on the amount of material between her and them.
- As long as she is within her normal 15 min she will come out of the trance virtually unscathed but very fatigued from the stress.
Fighting StyleExplanation: I like to call it improvised weapon.
Pros for fighting style: Can grab anything that is around her and use it as a weapon.
Cons for fighting style: It’s not always an effective weapon but that’s what feet and running are for.
Faction AllegianceHistory Of Your CharacterGwendolyn Abigail Fisher was born in San Francisco, California on June 14th, 1991. Her mother was a recovering heroin addict who had done the right thing and give it up for her daughters. That was sadly short lived. By the time Gwen was 2 she was back to her old habits and a few weeks before Gwen’s 3rd birthday she was found in a drug bust at a crack house. Gwen was crying on the floor while her mother lay there high as a kite and dead to the world. Not the best the way to spend the beginning of your life.
Over the next few years Gwen was bopped around through temporary foster homes and group homes until she settled with the Martin family. They were a rather nice seeming middle class family in upstate California. Gwen couldn’t’ have asked for better parents. The dad was stern but seemed nice enough and the mom was so kind it was almost confusing to the young girl of 5. The only adult she had ever met that had been nice or cared about her was her case worker and that was her job. Maybe this is what real parents were like… or maybe not. For 3 years Gwen was thrown around and screamed at for every little thing she did that upset Mr. Martin. She was only a little girl and she needed to learn, but he wouldn’t’ have any of it. She did it right or she did it quite or she didn’t’ do it at all. It was obvious to any adult looking in that the Martins were really only in it for the money they got for foster the poor girl. Nice on the outside. Cold within. Gwen spent most of those years trying her best to keep to herself in her room so she could stay away from Mr. Martin and try her best to keep from upsetting him; and most of the time it work, but not always. When Gwen was 8 she was trying her best to put some things away in her room as asked and being that she was rather short as she was still growing she couldn’t’ always reach things. She didn’t like to disturb the Martins for such silly things know it might upset Mr. Martin. So, she took it upon herself to try ad reach as far as she could and push the object onto the shelf. She had used a lower shelf for support not realizing that it was not screwed in or attached and it came crashing down upon her. Gwen gasped and listened into the silence hoping they would not come. Moments later Mr. Martin came tearing into her room and grabbed her by the arm pulling her out and into the hall screaming and shaking her the whole way. The last thing Gwen remembers of that night is him pushing her away from him and her stumbling down the stairs. Needless to say she didn’t go back to the Martins after that.
She was in the hospital for three weeks recovering and in those weeks something in her changed. Every night in her sleep she would see flashes of faces she had never met and for some reason she knew they were more than that. Every day she would try and think back to her dreams and would find nothing. The faces were gone but in their place were these terrible headaches that only worsened as she tried to fine some answers to her sleepless dreams. And the more she looked the more she felt as if she was not alone. She felt as if she could almost sense the people around her but they weren’t just any people. Something about them was special. One day a nurse came into her room and she noticed a glazed look over the small childes eyes. At first she was in shock as she rushed to check on the childes vitals but all seemed well. Gwen blinked a few times and looked up smiling and saying hello as if nothing had happened. She looked into the nurse’s face and she knew. “You’re special” she said. The nurse was taken aback. Did this girl know something? Had she noticed? But her mutation wasn’t visible. It wasn’t obvious. She leaned into the young girl and asked her how she knew as quietly as possible. Gwen simply shrugged and smiled a smile of pure innocence. Gwen had no idea the thing she had just released into the world but the nurse did and it was a secret she would keep.
Gwen couldn’t stay in that hospital forever and once she was out it was time to find a new family. She was once again bounced around until a year later when she was placed with the Taylor family. Unlike the Martins they didn’t seem like they were in it for the money but in all truth it didn’t hurt. And sadly when they learned what Gwen could do all they saw was dollar signs. She was a mutant and they weren’t like the rest of us right? It was just a justification but for them it worked. When Mrs. Taylor lost her job they needed to do something to stay afloat. They contacted a less then reprievable contact and they found a way into the mutant trade. They sold Gwen to couple out of Oregon who saw her as a great money making opportunity. All they had to do was take the money and tell DCF she ran away. They sold a 10 year old girl to the highest bidder and they got off scot free.
Life with her new parents was anything but good. They used her to help them fide mutants with mutations they could exploit and use for money or other personal gains. She was really just an object to them and it wore hard on the young girl. After so many people throwing her away she started to hate people. No one was trustworthy and everyone has ulterior motives. People were only looking out for themselves and that was what she was going to have to do too.
The spring after Gwen turned 13 she ran away. She had been planning it for months. Saving every penny she could find to buy a bus ticket and go all the way across the country to New York. It was the biggest city she could think of and if she could hide anywhere it would be there. She only had enough to buy a one way ticket and after that she was on her own. Thankfully she met an old man that taught her everything he knew about living on the streets of New York City. She has spent the past 6 and a half years living as a street urchin begging for money. It isn’t the best existence in the world but it’s all she’s got. She draws for money and usually by the end of the day she can find a place to sleep. Be it legal or not so legal. Most things she does aren’t so legal; i.e. mugging; so she doesn’t mind it either way one bit. As long as she has a place to lay her head, some clothes on her back, and at least a scrap of food in her belly she’s good.
RoleplayWhere did you learn about this site?: I already live here
Do you have any other characters on MRO, if so who: Katherine Elizabeth Stanley Finch-Hatton
Sample RP:Just a little bit further. All she needed to do was reach a little bit further and she would be all done. She climbed onto the bottom step and grabbed onto the middle one for support. How was she to know that it wasn’t attached? It looked attached. But no, everything came crashing down as she fell backwards and the bottom two shelves of her bookshelf were now all over the floor. She looked around as panic set in. Had they heard? Would he be up soon to yell at her? All her questions were answered in a flash as she heard the heavy steps of feet as they walked up the stairs and too her bedroom door. Gwen looked around but knew she couldn’t’ fix this. She couldn’t’ make everything better and save herself from him. All she could do was prepare for the worse.
He came tearing into the room yelling and red faced with anger. Gwen couldn’t’ hear a word as she winced away in pain as he pulled her up by her arm and she felt it fighting to stay in the socket. She couldn’t’ remember the last time she had seen him this mad. It was just him and her this time. Mama wasn’t there to save her and she didn’t know what he would do. “Look at this mess. You’re such a freaking messy waste of time. We never should have taken your lazy ass in.” She felt pain again as he pulled her out of the room and toward the stairs. “You’re coming with me where I can keep an eye on you.” He pushed her infront of him so she would walk on her own and stop fighting his pull, but he seemed to overestimate the distance to the stairs. The young girl stumbled forward into the wall before ricocheting off of it and tumbling down the stairs. All she felt was pain until everything went black and it was over. The last thing she remembered thinking was is this ‘what death feels like?’
