The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

"One of my friends," Amelia replied. "LARPs. Your horse reminded me of LARPing."
"Did you know? I've been LARPing." More than once. The girl support group had let her wail on them for a good few meets while she was dealing with him being away. "One time, my friends and I even beat up a giant cockroach. He totally got owned."
>>"One of my friends. LARPs. Your horse reminded me of LARPing. Did you know? I've been LARPing. One time, my friends and I even beat up a giant cockroach. He totally got owned."
Of course she LARPs. That was not even a surprise. After the Ren fair, nothing really surprised Maya anymore. She just accepted that Ami was awesome, in her own nerdy way.
"You'll have to tell me that story." she nodded.
Giant cockroach? She just hoped it was not Calley this time.
He asked for a story, so Amelia gave him one. She talked of how the Roach had showed up, speaking oddly like he had. How he'd immediately stolen a sword and defeated one of her ilk. How the rest of the day had gone. As she told, they worked on their ice cream cones. By the time she was done, the cones were finished. Then, it was time to go.
Before grabbing her bag, Amelia paused. "Hey?" She looked to Maya. "Mind if I stop by the cellphone store before calling us a ride? I want to get a phone." She wasn't supposed to own a phone, true, but... some rules just needed to be broken. It wasn't like it was hurting anyone. In fact. It might even help her brother.
Yes, Ami had a plan. An evil, awesome, devious plan. And it was good.
Maya listened to the story, and did an awful lot of grinning. It was quite the story in itself. Complete with a giant roach. And they finished their ice-cream by the time it ended.
>> "Hey? Mind if I stop by the cellphone store before calling us a ride? I want to get a phone."
"Sure" she nodded "That's kind of a big decision though. I think I'm gonna stick with my cell until it doesn't work anymore because it would take forever to choose another one..."
Not to mention all the X-men tech they used on missions. She was so grateful for that.
"Yeah." Amelia agreed. "Want to help me pick one out?"
Maya nodded. "Sure."
Bags-in-hand, the two girls walked off towards the nearby phone store. A half hour later, they stepped out. Amelia was fiddling with a red slider cell. Her bag was hanging from the crook of her arm. In her other hand, she had her brother's cell. As she walked, she input data from one phone into the other carefully. A grin was plastered to her face.
Maya watched Ami play with her new phone, and grinned.
"Now that sounds evil." she observed at the laughs. Now big brother's phone was out too. Ami was definitely planning something wicked. Wicked good, according to Maya's inner Trickster.
In retrospect, that hadn't sounded innocent at all!
"Just getting some numbers," she explained. "He has some contacts I want. And I want to get him some contacts, too." That was her plan. To do some research and help find dear brother a job. And a girlfriend. Or contact his ex. Because time changes people. And she'd only left, as far as Amelia was concerned, because she'd wanted to go to school. If he was not interested in other women, she simply had to call in the Ex...
Although she still had high hopes for Sveta, One could always use a backup plan.
>>"Just getting some numbers. He has some contacts I want. And I want to get him some contacts, too."
"Uh-huh, sure." Maya smirked. She knew when Ami was up to something. And now she definitely was. When it came to older brothers, that much was clear, little sisters held all the powers in the world. There was simply nothing they could not do.
She finished transferring all of his contacts. She hadn't had this much fun since she'd stolen his little black book and invited all the ladies in it to his birthday party, which she'd set up for him at Chuck E. Cheese's. Such a shame he hadn't gotten serenaded by the guy in the rat costume. That would have made it an even happier birthday.
"Alright. Now, I can call him."
So, she did.
Amelia climbed up onto the wall outside the building and sat down next to a shrubbery. She patted the spot next to her. "Sit with me while we wait."
Maya smirked. Big brother was in trouble. She just hoped she was not going to be blamed for it. She hated being the 'bad influence'. Even though this time Ami was probably worse by default than she was on a good day.
>>"Sit with me while we wait."
She did. Sitting down next to Ami, she put an arm around her waist.
"Well. This worked out better than I expected..." she muttered with a smile.
Amelia slipped her phone into her pocket, then smiled at Maya. "Yup." Leaning towards Maya, she gave the girl a kiss on the cheek. "Worked out just great." She rested her head on the girl's shoulder.
And so they waited. Just like that. Ami's head on Maya's shoulder, Maya's arm around her side. It was a lot warmer than waiting in the cold all alone, after all. And thus, the only logical choice.
After about ten minutes, Aurum finally arrived. Amelia did not change the way they were seated. Nope. She didn't give him any reason to think this was anything less than awesome.
As Amelia got into the front seat, she snagged Aurum's attention. "I don't think you got the full introduction when you dropped us off," she said. "Aurum, this is my girlfriend Maya." She gestured boldly towards Maya in the back seat. She looked to Aurum. "She's also my boyfriend, Gawain."

Aurum followed the gesture. His eyes swung to the back seat. To the girl.
'Girlfriend' was sometimes used by girls for something as innocent as a best friend. On her first comment, he took it as that. At her second comment, he arched an eyebrow at Ami as the gears in his head got to turning.
Girlfriend... also boyfriend... but also girlfriend.
"Wait. What."
Amelia grinned earnestly and slapped his phone into his palm, closing it around it. "Don't stare. You've met him. And staring is rude."
>>"I don't think you got the full introduction when you dropped us off. Aurum, this is my girlfriend Maya. She's also my boyfriend, Gawain."
Maya blinked with the classic 'I just met my girlfriend's older brother' expression on her face, that usually translates into 'oh hell.' Ami really did mean what she said. She was not ashamed of her. At all. That was a first.
"Um. Hi." it was an introduction, was it not?... Maya sighed, and pretended to be as confident as her girlfriend. "The technical term is gender shifting. I'm a mutant."
Just to make things clear. And put all of them together, better if he flips out once than to make him flip out over and over again...
"I shift between boy and girl on a daily basis. I also walk in mirrors. That one's more useful."
