The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

"Nope, not at all. But parents tend to have that look on their faces when their teenage daughter tells them she's dating a gender shifter."
She was chuckling. She could imagine the look. It was priceless, even in her mind. She was not sure if Twyla ever told her family exactly what she was... but she could imagine what a norman human parent would say. Uh. She was not looking forward to that.
"Well," Amelia drew out the word to make it longer. "My mom's best friend's daughter is a lesbian, and she's a good family friend, so they aren't offended by that sort of thing. And. My dad's a mutant, so the family is cool on mutants, too. And my brother is all about equal rights, and studying to be a defense attorney. I'm sure they wouldn't demonize you just because you're sometimes a boy." She smiled.
Although she didn't know if she was sometimes a lesbian. "But we could wait, if you want to... it's just. I hate liars." She said simply. This was lying. It was really that simple.
>>"Well. My mom's best friend's daughter is a lesbian, and she's a good family friend, so they aren't offended by that sort of thing. And. My dad's a mutant, so the family is cool on mutants, too. And my brother is all about equal rights, and studying to be a defense attorney. I'm sure they wouldn't demonize you just because you're sometimes a boy."
Maya laughed at that. It was good to know. At least she did not come from some horrible mutant hating family. That would have sucked.
>>"But we could wait, if you want to... it's just. I hate liars."
"Depends on what someone lies for" she nodded "Nah, I'm fine with whatever you decide, you know your family better than I do, and you are smarter than me anyway" she smirked "Most people at the Mansion know what I am, and they are fine with it. Before I came here, no one knew at all. Took some time to get used to it."
"In that case, I think we'll go with the truth." Amelia replied confidently. "If I can't be proud of my boyfriend slash girlfriend, what do I have one for?" It felt real nice saying she had a boyfriend, she noticed. All the other 'boyfriends' had been jerks and thus didn't matter.
With that said, she started in on her food.
"I really like this orange chicken." She said, holding up a piece speared on a fork. "Have you tried it?"
>>"In that case, I think we'll go with the truth. If I can't be proud of my boyfriend slash girlfriend, what do I have one for?"
Maya smiled. Leaning over, she kissed Ami on the cheek. She made such a nice girlfriend. Also, now she would have to face the parents and the older borther. Oh joy.
>>"I really like this orange chicken. Have you tried it?"
"Not yet" she grinned before she leaned over once again and ate the piece from her fork. "Mm, it's good."
Amelia blushed at that kiss, keeping her eyes focused on her chicken.
It was still a little strange, getting kissed by/kissing a girl. But she liked Gawain. And. Maya wasn't terrible. She could be proud of both of them. Yup. She was OK with that.
Maybe she'd have to talk with Miri about this, though. Just to have someone to talk.
Now that that was out of the way, though. Onto the chicken. Yum. She dug in happily.
... Or she would have. If Maya hadn't stolen the food from her fork. "Hey!" She chided. "I wasn't offering you that piece. Next time, ask. Jerk." Harsh words, but she was smiling. She wasn't mad about it. Just giving her a hard time. Daintily, she speared another piece and held it up. "Want another?"
And so it went, the two of them feeding each other occasionally, and eating from their own plate till all the food was gone. It was a good meal. Maya sighed and sat back, grinning at Ami.
"Phew. World looks better when your stomach's full huh" she chuckled "Are you sure you can eat ice cream after this?"
This was something she'd never actually done before. The whole 'feeding another person' thing. It was sweet. Kind of a bit too sweet, honestly, but yummy. She could get used to something like this. ... Which was an interesting thought.
She did not think feeding each other would work with ice cream.
Actually, it probably would work, but it might get messy. And she didn't want to get all sticky. That'd ruin her good clothes. Might even ruin her hair.
But ice cream did sound appealing... she was such a pig.
Amelia grinned. "You're just trying to get out of paying for it," she said. "Not a chance."
"Ready?" She got up from her seat and grabbed their bags.
"Is it?" She asked with astonishment. She'd quite forgotten. Suddenly, her cone of black cherry ice cream had become quite interesting. She spent a moment evening out one of the sides. "Alright." Side, evened. She looked up at Maya. Again, she remembered how pretty the girl was.
"Fact: I have never gotten roses."
A sad, but true, romantic fact.
"Although a boy did one time give me a worm." It was kind of cool.
"Second fact:" Because she was feeling bold, she volunteered, with an announcing finger held aloft. "You have the most beautiful eyes."
Without sparing a breath between that announcement, she continued. "So. How's your cone?"
>>"Is it?... Alright. Fact: I have never gotten roses."
Maya arched an eyebrow. Was that a hint? Roses. Duly noted.
>>"Although a boy did one time give me a worm."
She laughed at that. She hoped it happened a long time ago. Little kids can get away with cute stuff like that. From a grown-up guy... that would just be weird.
>>"Second fact: You have the most beautiful eyes. So. How's your cone?"
She grinned. And blushed.
"Fact: no one has ever told me that. Not to Maya, anyway." and it was nice to hear. "Cone's great, by the way."
"What'd you get?" Amelia asked. "I got black cherry."
She was glad the compliment had gone over great. Had she said before that she could get used to this? It bore repeating. As time went on, it kept getting less weird. It hardly bothered her, now. She could hardly remember it bothering her before. She must have been a fast adjuster.
It was her turn again.
"Did you know?" She asked. "That, in addition to soccer, I do track and field and basketball? You should definitely come to one of my games some time." Amelia beamed. "The girls soccer team hasn't lost yet this season." Or the last few. The Blue Demons really kicked ass.
"Strawberry and chocolate" she smiled. Those two were great together.
>>"Did you know? That, in addition to soccer, I do track and field and basketball? You should definitely come to one of my games some time. The girls soccer team hasn't lost yet this season."
"I can imagine, you're a fearsome enemy" she chuckled. Soccer and basketball too huh. Maya had never been big on team sports, but she could see the fun in that.
"Sure, let me know when you have a game and I'll bring pom-poms." she grinned. Then, it was her turn again.
"I have a friend who can turn into animals. He learned to turn into an aughisky for me. That's a mythical water horse. Sir Gawain had one." she explained "Makes jousting practice much more fun."
