The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

"So," Amelia smiled. "While we wait. I guess we could do some more questions. Unless..." An idea struck her. "Unless you want to take turns volunteering facts I probably wouldn't know about you?" That was actually probably just as bad as the other one.
"Number 5." Came the voice from the register, interrupting the conversation before Ami could get a response. Amelia blinked.
>>"So. While we wait. I guess we could do some more questions. Unless... Unless you want to take turns volunteering facts I probably wouldn't know about you?"
Oh, there was a bunch of those. Hmm. Maya arched an eyebrow. So Ami did not want to ask, huh. That was all right with her. The game did not really matter, as long as they were playing.
"Sure..."
>>"That was fast."
She chuckled, and waited till they settled down once again comfortably with their food.
"All right. Volunteer then. But it's still your turn."
Amelia snapped. "Damn. Okay." She thought for a second. "Something you don't know... well." She blushed. "I told you you aren't my first boyfriend, but... you were my first kiss."
>>"Damn. Okay. Something you don't know... well. I told you you aren't my first boyfriend, but... you were my first kiss. I'm kind of a prude."
Maya tilted her head, and smiled.
"It was a damn good kiss too." she chuckled. What do you know. It really was her first kiss. Oh well. She was used to those. And Gawain was an expert.
"All right, my turn" she sighed, thinking about it for a few moments as she ate her lunch. "Umm... I have been adopted by a cop who hates mutants and has a poodle?"
Did that count as volunteering? Or was that just weird.
>>"All right, my turn" Maya said. And then, she shared something fascinating.
It would have been a lot more fascinating if that poodle had had another interesting story attached to it, like, oh, I don't know, it having been kissed by someone Amelia knew, but then, how could she possibly have known that story? She couldn't. That's how. As such, she had no idea of any such connections. Only that Gawain knew a cop, and said cop had a dog.
"Cool." Amelia replied. She picked up her fork and speared a piece of orange chicken, idly moving it across her plate. She rested her chin on the palm of her free hand. "I know an FBI agent." She said.
Maya shook her head. "Nah, that's okay, really, Never really missed the guy. Although sometimes I'm curious if I got the mirrorwalkin' from him. See, my mom's a human shifter. That kinda explains the gender shifting."
"Ah. Sorry." That was just a mood killer. "Must be difficult," she said, stirring her food. "Not having active parents." More mood killer filler. Yay. "Don't know what I'd do without mine."
Family was a big important thing to Amelia. Brother, father, mother. Everyone. She hadn't really dealt with anyone without parents before.
"So, I guess that means you've really only got your friends at the mansion, then." She finished weakly.
>>"Ah. Sorry. Must be difficult. Not having active parents. Don't know what I'd do without mine."
"I'm fine, really" Maya shook her head with a smile "I'm used to it."
She really was. She had time for that.
>>"So, I guess that means you've really only got your friends at the mansion, then."
"Yup" the mirrorwalker nodded with a grin "A great bunch of people too. As much of a family as you could ever wish for. With the older brother and the Mama and the annoying little sisters."
She really had to change the subject for the better. He might not have been feeling the downer, but she was. Had to think happy thoughts if she wanted this date to fly. Otherwise, the fairy dust just wouldn't work.
Maya blinked; for a split second she was not sure if Ami meant herself, or was trying to guess about the girlfriend before. She did hear about Twyla. Form Maya herself.
Nope, Ami obviously meant herself. Duh.
"And the girlfriend" she grinned "What, thinking of moving into the Mansion? It's a cool place to me."
"My brother is a lawyer." She said. Paused. Then added. "At least, that's what he wants to be. He needs to find work. Otherwise, you've met him. He makes coffee." Hey. Was that something Gawain didn't know about her, or something he didn't know about her family? Was this cheating?
