The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

I agree, and also I like the idea of sharing powers if the characters can do it differently enough. Iris and Raina both take hold of ice/water but in seperate ways. I'd like to see more of that. I also dont think it would be the *end* of the world to have a few people with the same powers but i'll leave that up to you.

I like. Five months sounds like a good time span to me--if you haven't come back in five months, you probably aren't coming back.
Exception: People who post in the "DAMN! I have to leave MRO" thread, with the date they're expected to be back. Probably if that date passes, give them an extra month, then put their powers up for grabs again.
I agree also with putting inactive characters powers up for grabs as well as allowing people similar powers if they can do it differently. Those sound fair to me. I know Nika is very similar to Daria, but Daria was ok with Nika's abilities because the aren't the exact same.

I think holders of a power should be consulted if a new player comes in who'd also like their power, since some people mind, and others don't. I think the wishes of the established player should definitely be given preference over the desires of a new player, 'cause let's face it: the newbs have an incredibly high turn-over rate. I'd rather keep the established players happy. If they're cool with the redundancy, it's all good. If they aren't... the newb should modify things.
And agreed, Abyss, on the DIHTLMRO issue--I think that should only be for players who are usually active on a regular basis. Probably no one under 50 posts, and no one who already is disappearing on us more than they're actually posting.

I'll add my agreements with the five month span and giving frequent-poster preference. Just curious though; this does apply to inactive powers that are infrequent, right? As in, not powers that two or three or more active players already have?

*Spots thread and becomes interested.*
*Active/current/frequent members have perferance to share abilities with another member. *Those with <50 (IMHO maybe raise it to 100) posts: Abilities are up for grabs. *4-5 month waiting period for abilities to go on the 'market'; DIHTLMRO return time+1month before abilities are up for grabs.
If I understood that correctly....I say: Sounds good to me *thumbs up*
*Those with <50 (IMHO maybe raise it to 100) posts: Abilities are up for grabs.
Not sure if I read this wrong, but just in case I did: I'm not advocating putting the powers of newbs up for grabs unless they've gone inactive. It would be rather harsh, and probably lead to a lot of spammish posting, if a newb had to get to 50 (or 100) posts in order to "reserve" their power's uniqueness, as it were.
Though it might be a good idea to say that if someone is under 100 posts and they suddenly go inactive, we only give them maybe a month or so to come back before we put their powers back on the market. Most newbs do drop off the face of the planet within a week or two, so having a higher turn-over rate for newb powers would make sense to me.
I'm very much in agreement with the other two bullet points on Kaz' list, though.
I posting my agreement that the abilities belonging to inactive members should go up for grabs. It would greatly help newer members with coming up with abilities and it would become less frustrating.
I have to say I and with Calley in hoping that I misunderstood the number of posts requirement. I know as a new member I probably would have purposely found more posts.

In part of my updates, I begin to delete old characters of people who have not been active in the past five or six months anyway. The exceptions are if I was told that he/she would be gone for a while. I usually send out a mass e-mail and wait for replies from the members. If there isn't any or I get confirmation, I just delete the accounts and mark down what mutations the member had, thus being up for grabs again.
