Sleepwear: When staying in shelters or alleys he sleeps in what he wears during the day. If he ever finds a place to stay on a more permanent basis, boxers would be the garment of choice for sleep attire.
CharacterPersonality: On the outside, Lucas projects an outgoing and fun loving persona when meeting people for the first time. He seems confident and worry-free to the untrained eye. He seems to be unaffected by shyness in most situations and is equally comfortable in groups as he is one on one.
His gregarious behavior is a mask that he uses to help him cope with fears of abandonment and feelings of responsibility for the collapse of his family during childhood. Deep down, he is tormented by regret at failing to help his parents when they needed him most. This self resentment helps drive him to come to the aid of others when they are in need. Subconsciously, it is an effort to repair the mistakes of his past.
Lucas has suppressed a lot of his feelings over the years so that he could be strong and help his Grandmother until she passed away. This has left a level of self hatred and anger to bubble just below the surface. In times of extreme stress or when Lucas feels he has failed to protect someone who needed him, this could boil over. This may result in sudden unexpected outbursts or extreme feelings of inadequacy depending on the situation.
It takes Lucas time to form close bonds with people and open up about his true self. He is very apt at dismissing inquires about his past or feelings with a smile and quick anecdote and will do so until a level of comfort and trust is established with another individual. This bond would normally form over time but could be advanced through intense shared experiences as well. Even when this level of friendship is achieved, discussions about his feelings or past can make him uncomfortable and he may withdraw if pressed. If a friendship is formed with another person, Lucas is exceptionally loyal and will put himself above this person if needed without complaint or second thought.
Relationships with younger individuals or small children will draw a protective behavior as well stemming from a need to be better than his father in setting examples for the youth.
Lucas has been in romantic relationships in the past but none have ever reached a level that could be considered love and he lacks any true understanding of a deeper connection. Though he loved his parents and grandmother, there was a level of responsibility in these relationships that could cause Lucas to confuse the two ideals in future bonds. The chance of falling in love does exist, however he would be confused by the newness of the feelings involved and would be awkward in understanding his and others expectations at times.
Hobbies/ Interests: Lucas is an avid boxer since he was young and he uses the sport to stay in peak physical shape. He also uses boxing to help him disconnect from his thoughts and turn off the self criticism in his mind.
Job or part time job and description: New to the city, Lucas is currently unemployed but this may change.
Fears/ phobias/ concerns: Lucas is scared of one day becoming like his father. He can’t comprehend the decision to leave and is scared that he will one day abandon others as his father did to his family.
When growing up, Lucas saw how life could be cruel first hand. He is concerned that if people discovered his ability to heal, someone would find a way to abuse it for their own benefit. Because of this, he tries to keep his abilities hidden from the outside world whenever possible. He has had very little contact with other mutants and feels different and alone because of his abilities.
Special talents: Lucas has a gift for building and home repair. A special knack for plumbing and electrical work was developed during his time living at his Grandmothers residence and helping with the everyday maintenance.
MoralityGood/ bad/ neutral/ other: Lucas is generally good but not to the point of being a saint. He will make an effort to help his fellow man but may ignore the law in cases where he believes the ends justify the means.
MutationsMutation description: Damage Transference: Lucas can heal others by transferring physical injuries from a targeted individual to himself through touch. He takes on all the negative side effects of the injury in doing so. He needs to touch the person and focus to accomplish this and the damage is transferred to him near instantly. This touch does not have to be on the injury of the target but it does have to be on bare skin. Lucas can only transfer damage through one or both of his hands and must continue contact throughout the process. Removing his hands before completion will result in only partial healing/transferring based on the time frame of the target’s injuries.
Small wounds like scrapes and bruises would transfer almost right away while a larger injury such as broken bones or internal bleeding could take up to a few seconds. Lucas’ power can even heal amputations however he is not aware of this or the extent of his abilities and fear of a lost arm or leg will probably limit his attempt to do so except under the most severe circumstances.
This power has several limitations. One such limit is it can’t heal a conscious state. If someone is knocked out, dazed or drowsy from a concussion; this effect would remain until the mind is ready to recover despite the physical damage which caused the state being removed.
Also, no damage to the brain can be healed with this power. Any brain damage suffered remains with the target and is not transferred or healable by Lucas. This only applies to direct brain trauma. Nerve tissue or spinal damage which causes similar effects can be transferred as normal.
Damage Transference only applies to direct physical injury caused by trauma. It does not work for damage caused by viruses, poisons or genetic disorders.
When Lucas uses his power, it is an “all or nothing occurrence” and he can’t select individual injuries to heal and leave others behind. Any injury he is unaware of would be automatically healed along with the intended healing. The times for each individual injury are not cumulative as each wound begins the healing process at the same time when the power is activated and he would only become aware of unnoticed injuries as the effects took hold.
One important exception to this is scarring. As scars are old wounds that have already healed, they are unaffected by Damage transference and outside of his ability.
When using his power, it seems as if the injuries are healing at an extreme rate for the target and that Lucas is suffering that same injury at an identical speed. This is accompanied by a tingling sensation and rush of endorphins for the recipient giving them a pleasant, euphoric feeling. The euphoric feelings will last ten times the required healing time of the injuries and then slowly fade. The more injured the recipient is, the more intense the feeling.
Strengths: -Lucas can heal the physical injuries of others.
-The recipient of Lucas’s healing experiences a sense of euphoria that lasts ten times the length of the healing process.
Here is a summary table to give an example of heal times based on a few possible injuries.

Major burns form fire or acid = 2 seconds
Major bone fractures = 3 seconds

Weaknesses: -Lucas suffers the effects of the injuries he cures.
-Viruses, poisons, brain trauma, conscious states, birth defects, scars or genetic diseases are beyond his power to heal.
-He must put his hand on bare skin for the power to work.

History of Your Character:Lucas was born into a poor family in Miami. His father, Denis, was a dock worker and his mom Christina, a chamber maid for a hotel. They both worked long hours so Lucas spent a lot of time with his Grandmother for most of his formative years. On Sundays, Lucas’s father would take him to a local gym as he trained for fights and kept in shape while mom worked at the hotel. Denis wasn’t a great boxer and never amounted to much in the sport but the time he spent with his son in this fashion made for a happy relationship.
Unfortunately, over the years, Lucas’s parents grew apart. The distance from not seeing each other because of work took a toll on their marriage as well as the constant money struggles from their lower income careers. Just before the boy’s 8th birthday, Denis didn’t come home from work and was never seen again. Lucas took this hard and felt responsible for the deterioration in the family. Trying to reconnect with the happy times with his father, he began spending his free time at the boxing gym on his own.
His mother tried to make ends meet but couldn’t keep up with the bills so the two of them had to move in with grandma. Losing her husband and the shame of failing to support her son drove Christina to a meth addiction which quickly spiralled out of control. She began disappearing for days and then weeks and eventually did not return at all. At 17, Lucas received a call from the police informing him of his mother’s demise.
Traumatized by the news, he threw himself into boxing with a passion to deaden the pain. During one of his training sessions, he lashed out in rage and surprised his trainer. He connected soundly and the man fell backwards, landing awkwardly on a stool. His ribs fractured and he cried out in pain. Lucas rushed to his side and discovered his ability when he transferred the broken ribs he had inflicted on his trainer to his own person while trying to help the man up. Lucas, scared of what would happen if the truth of his ability became public, left the gym despite the trainers’ promises of secrecy. He continued to train on his own from time to time but left the organized gym life behind.
Over the next couple of years, Lucas and his grandmother lived a quiet enough life until the signs of dementia began to manifest in the older woman. She was committed to a home soon after and Lucas managed to get a job on staff doing general maintenance and janitorial work around the home. While here, he saw the everyday suffering these people lived with and he tried to use his gift to alleviate the pain of the residence in the home, but only when he could do it without being noticed. At nights he would sit with his grandmother and watch the sunset or read to her. He tried in vain to help her beat her dementia but it was beyond his ability to cure. He spent the next 4 years this way and eventually the inevitable occurred. With nothing left in Miami and remembering the stories and fond memories his grandmother would tell him about her younger days in New York, Lucas left south Florida behind.

Sample RP:Lucas looked out of the window of the bus and gazed at the towering spires of Manhattan. The tall slender buildings reached to the heavens as if begging for another chance….A fresh start. That is what he needed.
His mind drifted back to three days ago, in Miami, just before he left.
The warm wind from the gulf caused the blades of grass to tickle his neck as Lucas lay there and stared at the bright blue sky above. The sun had barely risen over the tree line but its light made it seem like full day.
”Grandma” Lucas said.
”I remember when you would tell me of your days back in New York. You always sounded so happy when you would talk about it. Made me wish I could have been there with you.” He pulled a blade of grass from the turf and began to idly pet it with his finger while he continued to stare into the sky above.
”I’ve been thinking about it a lot over the past week and I think I would like to see the city for myself. I don’t want to leave you but there is nothing left for me here anymore. I’m sorry but I’m going to go.”Standing up, Lucas turned and faced the grave stone of his grandmother. He kissed his finger tips and placed them on the cool marble and then let his fingers slide down the polished surface until they fell to his side.
”You saved me when you took me in. Without you, I don’t know if I would have made it.” He reached into the left pocket of his jeans and fidgeted with its contents; $5.72 in change and a one way bus ticket to New York. To his left, his duffle bag waited for him with all his worldly possessions inside. A couple of changes of clothes and an old beat up book he had found in the back seat of the taxi he took to get to the cemetery was all he had left in the world.
Slowly, he bent down and picked up his duffle bag and slung it over his shoulder. The breeze picked up and rustled the trees surrounding the cemetery with a whispering noise.
”Good bye Grandma. I’ll make you proud.” he said as he turned and walked away.
