The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Neena stopped in front of the Danger Room door and keyed it opened. She headed up the stairs to the observation room, stashed her purse, then returned to the center of the room.
"Lights, please." Her voice echoed a bit as the room lightened enough to see by. She left her sunglasses on, just in case they eventually activated a daylight simulation; she'd rather not risk being blinded. She crossed her arms over her chest, smiling at Mett easily.
"Okay," she began, her voice taking on what she considered her 'teaching tone', "First off, what's involved in your mutation, and how much control do you feel you have over it?"

Mettaliar stepped into the room with Neena and watched as the lights turned on. He took his jacket off to reveal his black training shirt that he has always worn. He quickly slipped the hair tie away from his jacket and tied his hair back again. Suddenly he heard Neena's voice ask him about his powers.
With that he quickly held his arms out and let 2 throwing knifes form in his hands. He quickly twirled them a bit and then threw them to his jacket. Suddenly he turned towards Neena and held his hands out as a staff formed in his hands. He twirled it around before holding it in between his arm and body.

Neena watched the knives fly by, and the staff appear. She made a curious humming noise as she moved closer to inspect. She plucked up one knife, turning it over in her hands.
"Ow!" she reflexively exclaimed when she tested the sharpness. "Not bad. Not bad at all. Matter creation or manipulation? Or both?"
She turned her attention to his staff. "May I?" She held out her hand to inspect his second weapon. "So, metal and wood. Can you make anything else? Anything other than weapons? Does it cause strain on your body to make them? How many items can you create at once? Can you combine the two materials?" She paused and took a breath after the barrage of questions, then added one more with a sly lift to her mouth. "And how good is your aim?"

Mettaliar watched as she checked his knives and he handed her the staff. As he listened to the questions she asked him, he decided to answer none but two with words. He cracked his neck and then looked at the teacher.
"Only manipulation and also yes only metal and wood materials." he responded. Now it was time to get to work. He quickly made a two by four and a metal spike to show he could make anything out of the material. He quickly placed his hands over the ends of the staff and created the metal edges of his staff that he used during real battle. He stepped back and, to prove the point further, he created his two custom swords with wooden handles and metal blades. He quickly threw them aside. He was about to stand in anm upright position before the final question came down.
"And how good is your aim?"
Mettaliar just smiled and stepped towards his knives again. He twirled both, one in each hand, and stepped towards Neena. He tilted his head, his eyes to hers.

"Only manipulation and also yes only metal and wood materials."
Neena nodded. She watched the display with keen interest. Mettaliar seemed to have solid control over his mutation, though a prolonged session would be the only way to know for sure. As he made each different item, she moved in to inspect the work. When he added the metal edges to the staff, she gave it an experimental twirl. It was much like the spear she'd learned to wield when she was young. She nodded.
"Good. Good."
When it came to the aim question, he looked up and stared at her. "Name a target."
She returned his gaze solidly, smiling slightly. Still holding the staff she stepped into a defensive stance, holding it in front of her.
"Very well. Your target is me. Two shots, aim for the chest."

Mettaliar kept twirling the knives, but looked a bit puzzled. He lifted his head back up and raised his eyebrow. I don't care if she has no fear, every person should know it's suicide to ask a stranger to throw knives at themselves. His mind was racing, yet he kept control of the spinning blades. He finally sighed and looked over at the teacher. He decided to trust the teachers abilities. She was experienced after all.
"Your the teacher." he said with a shrug. With that he crossed his arms so that his forearms were around the front of his neck, still keeping the blades spinning. As soon as they reached the point of falling, Mettaliar grabbed their tips with his fingers and screamed out loud.
"I'm trusting you!" With that he snapped his arms and wrists forwards, letting the knives go at the time he need to, sending them screaming towards her. He quickly duck as he winced. If she dies I don't know what I'll do.

She knew her request was crazy, bordering on suicidal. His expression was calmer than some of the ones she'd seen in the past. So he could keep his cool under pressure, that was good. That meant that his aim would be truer than if he were overly nervous.
She waited patiently for him to decide whether or not he would follow her instructions. Behind her glasses, her eyes were narrowed, watching closely.
A split second before the throw, she caught the movements she'd been watching for. As the knives left his hands, she shifted her grip on the staff and threw the upper half of her body backwards. The metal edge of the staff impacted solidly with the ground. Her grip held her wieght up off of the ground, so she looked as if she were impersonating a bridge. One of the knives sailed overhead, alarmingly close to her middrift, to eventually land on the ground elsewhere. The other impacted with the staff and bounced off, and fell to the ground nearby.
For a brief moment she held her position. Then she heaved a sigh.
<"Not even a tingle,"> she thought to herself as she 'walked' her grip up the staff, until she got to a position where she could twist herself back to an upright stance. She bent down to pluck the nearest blade from the ground. She bowed slightly to him, a one-sided grin on her face.
"Nice aim," she complimented, handing the knife back to him, hilt-first. "Two things to remember though. One, never announce when you're about to throw. Most fights are not fair, and even in those that are, you're opponent will be watching you closely. Do not give them an advantage. And two, unless you are sure your opponent has absolutely nowhere to go, save your second shot."
"Now then, lest test your reflexes. Will you make another one of these, please?" She motioned to the staff, then again took up a defensive stance.

Mettaliar's eyes narrowed as he saw Neena bend over and avoid the knives. Of all the things he's seen a person do, THAT was not one of them. She had such control over the staff, he equaled it to his own abilities. He knew he had trained hard with the staff and that he could probably pull that move off, so it was nice to see another staff fighter standing across from him. As he heard Neena speak and lecture, he stood up and stretched out his arms.
"Oh, so you want me to treat this like a real fight. My apologize, I let things like that slip when I'm training, just so I know I won't kill that person. Yet, if you insist, I shall spar with you at great lengths."
Once he heard the request, he smiled. This should be interesting. he though to himself. He quickly held an arm out and let another staff form, grabbing it as it was completed. He cracked his neck and took on his stance. He watched closely at the teacher and tilted his head to complete the stance, taking a heavy breath and waiting for her to make her move.

"Oh, so you want me to treat this like a real fight. My apologize, I let things like that slip when I'm training, just so I know I won't kill that person. Yet, if you insist, I shall spar with you at great lengths."
"No apologies necessary," she replied easily. "And indeed, don't hold back. Finding your limits, and figuring out if you can push past them, is what this is all about. And don't worry. I'm not really suicidal," she added with a wink.
Once he'd created another staff, she stepped back a couple of steps, then began circling him, eying his stance, his grip. She twirled the staff idly as she moved, testing its balance. She wasn't specifically trained to fight with a staff using it like a bo; her training was more in throwing and jabbing with a spear. Not that it was a big deal; this was reflex testing, not combat testing.
She shifted her grip the staff, and held it out with one hand, metal tip first, as if she were offering him to take it from her.

Mettaliar stood lower in his stance as the teacher circled him. Mettaliar kept his body still, yet kept his eyes shifting. He could tell she still was testing her staff out a bit more. Mettaliar had figured she needed to get used to the design before she could fully handle it. His mind was drained and left with nothing but concentrating on her. She was a good observer, and was patient as well.
Once the teacher tried a striking move, he noticed in being on his weak side where the staff was facing the other direction. Obvious choice. he thought to himself. He quickly spun his body and used one arm to swing the staff, striking the teacher's weapon and knocking it away from him. Once he finished the counter, he quickly returned to his regular stance, again facing the teacher.

The moment she felt contact as Mettaliar knocked the staff away, she pushed forward with her wrist, accelerating the weapon's momentum. The bare end snapped around, forward and up, aiming for his ear. She waited for the feel of contact and rebound before spinning her body and the staff in the opposite directions. As she turned she dropped low to the ground, aiming for the side of his knee.
If he didn't block fast enough, either his ear would be ringing, or he'd trip or collapse, possibly all three. She wanted to see not only how fast his reflexes were, but to gauge her own against his. As she wasn't a fighter by nature or training, there was a high possibility he was faster and stronger than she was. Knowing where she stood would affect how she approached from then on.

Mettaliar noticed her launching another attack against him. He spun the staff behind him and held it to the side of his head, letting the attack bounce off his staff. He was prepared to go back into his stance before he saw Neena drop and attack him at knee level.
Being tall, he was used to people attacking his low points. One he saw the attack come close to his knee, he leaped over it and landed cleanly on his foot and one knee. Once he looked up at Neena he remained in that position and watched her to see what her next move would be.

Neena made an approving humming noise in her throat, and returned to circling.
Flipping the bare end toward him again, she shifted her grip on the staff and made a series of rapid-fire forward jabs; head, shoulders both sides, hips, stomach, chest. Again she waited for the feel of contact before moving to another target area.
He seemed to be completely defensive at this point, a factor that interested her as well. Apparently he was testing her as well.

Mettaliar noticed her beginning to circle him again and raised himself higher. He stood up into his normal stance and eyed her as was used to doing. He figured staying on the defence was best, as it was he who was being tested, not Neena. He cracked his neck slowly, still keeping his eyes soley on her.
When Neena charged with her jabs, Mettaliar stepped back for a second to watch her motions. Once figuring out her plan, he simply fanned his staff in front of him to block off her jabs. He deflected the shots one by one, keeping his fan effect in motion at all times. At one point he figured he would need to stop her somehow or continue this little game forever. At one jab, he increased the force of his spin to deflect her staff so far as to knock her off balance. This would somewhat test her as well, as it would require her to recover from a shot like that not only effectively, but quickly. Mettaliar made certain of this by charging Neena then sliding next to her legs, holding his staff out to the side as to catch her legs and trip her.

<"Ah! There it is.">
She saw him plant his feet, and felt the extra pressure in the deflect. The way her feet were planted, the block pushed her into an awkward stance. As the staff was hit away, she let go with one hand and put her weight on her forward foot, then pushed up and back. The result was the staff flying sideways out of her hand, and her body doing a funny little hop-step backward.
When he charged, she did trip over the staff. As she fell, she pulled her legs up and in toward her body, then kicked outward, propelling herself up and into a crouch. She twisted and spun again, putting her weight on her hands in a sort of half-cartwheel, and aiming a kick for his backside.
<"Hmm. Gonna need some painkillers after this bout,"> she though idly, smile still tugging at her lips.
