The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

"Some people would consider after you were pumped full of hyper-mutation steroids 'too late,'" Mike commented. He clearly had been beating himself up in his head over this for quite a while.

Daria rolled her eyes. "You're such a drama queen. If anyone should be upset at you it should be me, right? But I'm not. I learn alot everytime something happens, alot about me, alot about you."
She smiled. "I mean it wasn't really EASY for me to watch you get your hand practically hacked off."
"Bah, they had me pumped so full of drugs that I could hardly feel it," Mike lied, testing the baston in his injured hand. The pain from the hit a few minutes ago was almost gone, thankfully.

Daria rolled her eyes again, slapping his arm playfully with her tail.
"My point was that I knew I couldn't do anything so I'm not worried. It ws horrible only being able to hiss. You're fine now, thats what matters. I'm fine too, so you should get over it." she laughed. "Besides, I like to think that had I been able to get out of the pain room and back to where you were, I would've bitten the scientist and everyone else but you...thus saving you if I could."
Mike smiled slightly, then hugged Daria. "You know I just can't stand to see you hurt. Especially when there's no reason I couldn't have prevented it."

Daria hugged him back tightly until he finished his statement. Then she pulled back and looked at him.
"Are you listening to yourself, babe? You were tied down to a metal table, your lungs were filled with some unidentifiable gas and you had a knife jammed into one of your hands. Your telepathy wasn't even working much less your telekenisis. Sounds like you were pretty disabled, Mike." she smiled and shook her head.
"Yeah, but I should have done something about the whole 'us ending up on the table' in the first place. Like, you know, NOT deciding we should keep moving instead of checking out the person that was evidently following us?"

Daria nodded.
"You know what happened, Mike?" Daria said. "You made a mistake. Look at that you're human."
She shrugged, untying her laces and retying them. "And besides, we can't always follow my senses. Sometimes I can't tell the difference between a roach and a rat if there is an echo." she laughed.
Mike smiled, biting his lip for a minute, then just smiling. "Were you planning on beating on the robots, or do you want a partner that's an actual challenge?"
Mike smirked. "Well, we can always try later if you were looking forward to the gymnastics setting. I mean, if you win I'll just say I was tired, and that won't be any satisfaction for you," he winked.

Daria laughed.
"Hmm...we could make this work." She said. She commanded the danger room to acquire the gymnastics setting. It was filled with a convoluted array of very high balance beams. "We can make a game out of it. The goal is to stay on the beams. First person to fall loses."
She glanced at the staves. "And we'll play with your sticks." she joked holding out her hand.
Mike smirked, then dropped the staves and picked up two of the longer, full-sized staves against the wall. "These'd probably be better to use," he said, tossing one to Daria. Then he looked up at the beams, putting an arm around Daria's waist. "May I do the honors?" he asked teasingly.
Mike smiled and flew them both up to the center of the highest balance beam, roughly in the middle of the room. Setting Daria down, he walked back and ran his staff through a few test swings. He wasn't great with a staff this size, but he could make do.
