The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Mike stood in his workout outfit, loose-fitting pants and a tight t-shirt. He held two padded escrima staves, though two non-padded training staves were leaning against his gym bag. He waited patiently for Daria to meet him.

Daria entered the danger room dressed in black yoga pants and a black sports bra. She wore arm warmers along with padded shin guards beneath her pants and forearm guards on her arms. her hair was pulled back in a long ponytail and she smiled at Mike as she entered.
"I practice escrima, Philipine stick fighting. My teacher focused in double-staff techniques," Mike said as he twirled them in his hands. "I hope there aren't objections?" Actually, he really DID hope there weren't objections... his unarmed training wasn't quite as extensive as his armed training was.

Daria's eyes widened in surprise-she'd never even heard of this fighting style. Then she shrugged. "No...no objections. I was just shocked, thats all. I mean, I guess I was expecting hand to hand combat. But this is fine and it should be fun." She smiled. The fight would be interesting. She was a taekwon do black belt and had fought armed opponents before and there was nothing more valuable to her than an opponent who was skilled-regardless of what fighting form he was using.
Mike nodded, then took up his favorite starting stance. "Then let's get started, shall we?"
He'd fought someone who practiced unarmed escrima once before, but never any other arts. General courtesy in sparring frowned against intentionally striking the body with his bastons, so he wasn't quite sure how to treat this. The other time he fought an unarmed opponent hadn't been sparring, he was actually being attacked by another student, and hadn't felt any obligation not to beat the hell out of his opponent (which he had done, by the way), so he had nothing to compare against. As he assumed his starting stance, he decided he'd just defend himself, taunt her a little, and let her land the first blow. Since he had no qualms with any intensity of sparring, he'd judge the protocol of this by how intense she wanted it, and he'd judge how intense she wanted it by how hard she hit him and where she hit him.

Daria backed up a little and took the Tae kwon do fighting stance which was raised hands and right foot back. It was a defensive art so she wasn't prepeared to make the first attack.
"Those sticks are padded, I noticed." Daria said behind her hands. "Don't go easy on me. I wanna see exactly how much I can take with my heightened endurance from the mutation." she challenged.
"As in, you actually want me to hit you?" he asked as he circled her, guaging her stance for weaknesses. His footwork was perfect, something that had amazed his instructors, and surprisingly fast. He analyzed her stances and reactions, looking for the right angle to attack.
"Well, yes, but I never try to make assumptions. Especially when I'm holding big sticks, even if they are padded."
As if to emphasize his point, Mike quickly reversed his circling, pivoted, and swatted at her backside before she could compensate. He'd once used this move before on a senior female student shortly before his graduation, partly because she had been trash-talking him all day, and mostly just to piss her off in front of all the other students and make her drop her guard somehow. Right now he was just testing her reflexes. He could sense where her guard was with his telepathy and step around it, but her reaction time would play heavily into his attacks.

Daria now had to witness her agility in action. Upon seeing the stick moving forward the least bit she was able to tell three possible places it would hit and avoid it. She surprised even herself by flipping forward out of the way, landing on her feet and spinning around. The normal strategy of turning in taekwon do is to simple swtich one's feet, keeping low to the ground.
Daria was caught off guard because Flipping wasn't a big part of Taekwon do, it seemed her mutant powers interfered with what she already knew. She kept her cool though, she'd figure it out and master it soon. She smiled at Mike. "I know where you were aiming, buddy. At least take me out to dinner first."
Mike smirked, "Ah, good, a girl who likes the normal progression of things. Friday night good for you?" He didn't even break his stride as he spoke, he came in low, slashing his offhand baston down at her waist, this time readying himself for another crazy dodge, either with a jab from his right-arm baston or from an equally crazy flying kick. All's fair when mutant powers are concerned, after all.

Daria grinned, showing fangs. She'd make the mutation, the matrial arts and the gymanstics work for her. She raised her leg to do a snap kick, lifting her left leg to her waist level, still bent and when it came in contact with the baston she shot it out to complete the kick, pushing the baston away from her person. She lowered her leg and kicked out with her right this time in a snap kick aimed for Mike's stomach.
"You can't afford me." she answered as she kicked, impressed with Mike's skill.
"Oh, I seriously doubt that," Mike shot back, spinning sideways so that the kick just glanced off his stomach. He shot his right arm under her leg, knocking it upward with his elbow and kicking at her lower leg. So far her speed was countering his strikes, he decided to change his tactics a bit...
"It's all I need," Mike began, feinting and circling, until he finally struck at her shoulder. It wasn't something she could jump away from, so she either had to dodge low or counter, and that was what he was counting on. His knee swept up toward her midsection a second after he struck with his baston.
