The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Daria hissed in pain from the blow to her shoulder. She was able to catch Mike's ankle as he kicked, though and braced her feet against the floor in order to throw him. She tugged hard at his leg.
Mike hadn't expected to land that blow, really, but went with it. He let her pull his curled leg in, but threw his weight into it, forcing her into a trip over his other leg. His instructers had never focused much on grappling, but it always had its uses. An over-agile opponent was one of them. He kept his weight shifted over her to try to keep her from rolling away.

And indeed she couldn't. Her intention was to tumble and get away but that wasn't working with Mike on top of her. She grinned. "Let's up the stakes shall we?" She teleported away and reappeared behind Mike Kicking him the back.
Mike grunted as he fell forward, catching himself with his fists. "Fine by me."
One of the rattan staves that had been sitting against his gym bag struck Daria in the back of the knee as Mike boosted himself on his hands, aided by his telekinesis, and threw both of his feet back in a double kick at her midsection. His padded bastons he sent skidding across the floor toward the door with his telekinesis.
He risked glancing back as he did so. "I did pick you for one who liked it rough, after all," he added with a smirk, trying to guage her reaction to find a way out of his very unfavorable position.

Daria fell to her knees, which would have been painful had it not been for her shin guards. She blocked Mike's kicks with her fore arms and got pushed back by the force. She tumbled and landed landed on her feet, though, and grinned at him. It was getting good.
"Now, now, Mikey, don't be naughty. You don't know what I do to guys when they're naughty" She said playing his game. Indeed this would be a tough fight with a telekenetic but Daria loved challenges.

"Hissssssssssssss! Don't call me kitty." She hissed through gritted teeth. She took off running towards Mike and then teleported right in front of him; lashing out with a powerful roundhouse kick.
Mike almost grinned at the reaction. He wouldn't use this taunt again, but its effect was wonderful. With his natural affinity for emotion, the more he got her worked up, the easier her thoughts and movements were to read. He jumped over the kick, aided by her telekinesis, then lashed out at her exposed back. The rattan bastons struck faster, and obviously weren't padded, but they were light. THey might sting more, but they weren't going to hurt any more than the kick he'd gotten in the back.

Daria hissed in pain from the bastons hitting her back. She's taken several blows before she was could turn to block the blows. and even that couldn't last long, Her strength was in her legs and Taekwondo only had a few punches. It's hand strikes were powerful but needed precision. The type of precision she couldn't muster up right now. Some how Mike was getting a second wind and Daria wasn't sure how. She thought back to when they were talking in the infirmary. Not only could he sense her thought but he could feel her emotions. He had mentioned something about the emotions being strong enough... Daria didn't completely understand Mike's powers but she knew that her short temper put her at a disadvantage. Her teacher had said the same thing to her once, his voice echoed in her mind.
"To fight from one's anger, my child, is to fight for one's defeat."
Daria teleported back, very far from Mike, in order to catch her breath and get away from the sticks. she was breathing heavily and trying to remain calm. The fear that the fight was already lost and that she had no chance beat against her stomach trying to escape.
Mike dropped his guard, watching her, guaging her reaction. For a minute, he considered appologizing. He'd assumed that his attitude would get to her sooner or later, but her reaction showed that the kitty-cat remark evidently did more than just annoy her. Still, he decided against it. Battles were times for shows of respect, not coddling. Appologies would come later.
He crouched down, in a defensive, but relaxed, stance. "Whenever you're ready," he said, nodding at her.

Daria took a deep breath in order to clear her mind. Mike was her friend, and even more of one since he wasn't being easy on her in this fight. She lowered her head and gave a half smile. Nothing to be angry about and nothing to be afraid of. She took another breath and made small sliding steps toward Mike.
"If you don't mind asking, though... of all the things I've said, why did that set you off?" Mike asked, standing easily and adopting a defensive stance. He had a feeling he was in for a beating now.

Daria was cought off guard. She didn't let her hands down at first, in taekwon do it meant you were surrendering a fight. but she lowered them and stood normally with her arms crossed over her chest to answer him.
"...Um...." she lowered her gaze to the floor. "..It's just that..um...I don't know. I managed to finish my highschool education bye transfering from school to school from state to state. Forging signitures and papers and seals. I've got software on my computer that does things it really shouldn't do. Anyways...I used to leave schools once someone found out about my ...mutation and these bullies..." she trailed off.
Unable to say what she felt she flashed more images into Mike's mind, several boys, all no older than 16 were pulling and tugging at Daria's clothes she was screaming and trying to fight back but she didn't know how to teleport on command without intense concentration. The boys were laughing and calling her cat girl. One of them, the chubby one that had mounted her against her will grinned in her face and said witha sickening casualty. "Sit back and enjoy the ride, Kitty"
"yeah..you can fill in the rest" she said trailing off, a tear rolled down her cheek"
Mike lowered his bastons. Naturally, he saw all of that, but the last thing he wanted was point that out at the moment. Nevertheless, as he relived the memory he got from her, a tear rolled down his cheek as well. He held his bastons low, in a loose defense.
