Kealey had always liked listening to music. It had started when she was a very young girl and Disney animated musicals were incredibly popular. She and her sister had spent hours choreographing dances to each and every one of those songs because the ones in the movies just. Weren’t. Good. Enough. .

Maire and Kealey had always improved on the things in the movies, their dance moves fitting the mood of the song better than the animators could have possibly hoped.

Sometimes, Kealey still indulged herself.

Shin’s laptop was on her nightstand, and everything had been pushed out of the middle of the floor. The speakers were as loud as they would go, and Kesha was playing. She’d been playing for quite some time now, and Kealey was dancing. The music video had been disappointing, Kealey was improving on it.

Her hair was in a high ponytail, a hairbrush was grasped firmly in her right hand and she bounded from side to side, singing along to the music. She’d been practicing all morning because well…the compulsion had struck. Shin was off doing something, and she hadn’t felt like working on school stuff, so Kealey had started bringing up random music videos on youtube. She’d discovered Kesha.

”Because your love, your love, your love, is my drug!”

She sang some more, shook what her mama gave her, spun, then started bouncing back and forth again. Man she was good at this.

Just a little break, that was all it would be. A little escape from his room, from his studying. He'd been busy all morning studying for his classes. A break would be great. He could manage to keep it short, he figured. He was only visiting his girlfriend.

Only. Visiting. His Girlfriend.

Nope. It might not be short as all that. He didn't think he could stay strong enough to cut it and leave. Maybe he'd have to drag the books to her room later?

Or, maybe...

Shin stopped. He was standing outside Kealey's room, now. Outside her door. Faint music could be heard playing from within. Cautiously, Shin opened the door a crack and peeked in. Kealey was dancing. He blinked. Then, a smile stole its way across his face. She was adorable.

"Boo," He said, evenly enough to avoid any spooking. "Hey. What are you singing?"

Kealey was really getting into it now. It was the third time she’d ran all the way through the choreography. Step-clap, step-clap, step-clap, turn, bounce, bounce, bounce….singing the whole time. This was going to be awesome when she had the whole thing down. Sure it changed a little bit each and every time, but that was the beauty of doing your own dance designing…and being the only one dancing. Nobody could tell you what to do. The world was your blank slate.
She felt the emotions, she heard the voice, she didn’t stop singing…or dancing. This was Shin, after all. If she couldn’t cut loose and let him see the dance…who could she show?

He said boo, but she’d already known he was there. He was amused, and Kealey grinned at the warm fuzzies as he made her way into the room. He asked what she was singing and Kealey answered with the next few lines.

I just cant get you off my mind[/i]

“Because why?” she called over the music as the chorus began again.

”Because your love is my drug!” she announced as she bounced her way over to her boyfriend and kissed his cheek. ”You like?”

"Yup," Shin grinned. He liked. "You've got a good singing voice, Kealey. Makes me feel like I should try and sing something, because my singing and dancing quota is not being filled. Your quota is being met. Mine is not. But what to sing...?" He mused, slipping past her to tap a few keys on his computer. He brought up Youtube and searched for something. A hit came up and he clicked the video link. Shin glanced over his shoulder towards Kealey. "Can it be my turn now? You may want to sit down for this. It'll be epic."

He was just being awesome. Er, honest. He meant honest. Honestly.

”And you sir, are a flatterer!” the blond laughingly accused as she continued to bounce around to the song. ”Don’t stop, I love it.” Man, she was in a good mood. Dancing and singing were things that just did that to a person though. How could someone not be happy when they were doing something so great?

Shin announced that all her moving and singing made him feel like he needed to join in and Kealey beamed, her bouncing slowing a bit before finally stopping as Shin went to work on his laptop. Kealey caught her breath and waited for him to find the song he was looking for.

Shin said to sit down and Kealey did as instructed, preparing herself. If Shin said something was going to be epic, it was usually pretty epic. Besides, he was going to dance…Kealey wanted a good view.

”Take it away. The floor is all yours.”

It was a good thing the floor was his. He was going to own it. No. Wait. If it was his, he already did. Oh well, he could own what he owned. That made sense. Wasn't that a tautology? Tautologies ruled. Now, what exactly was he going to do with this tautology, on this dance floor he owned?

Shin took a moment to contemplate dance steps, pausing the video while it loaded. What were they doing in this video? There was a special kind of dance, he recalled, that all the trolls had done. They moved their arms over their heads. They covered their faces. They smiled a lot. There were rainbows. He could do that.

Shin decided on his dance moves. Yeah, he could totally do those. This would be amazing. He turned to face Kealey, hitting 'play' on the video as he did. A certain Double Rainbow song started to play. Shin started singing.

"Whoa, that's a full rainbow. All the way~ Double rainbow. Omigawd, double rainbow~"

He held up two fingers as he sang. Looked over his shoulders. Because omigawd, it was a double rainbow. It was a double rainbow. All the way. Damn. He held his head and looked like he was in awe, dropped some mad beats, and then... he launched into the chorus. As he sang, he passed his hands over his head, summoning a shard of every color of the rainbow each time.

"Double rainbow all the way Cross the sky! Yeah! Yeah! (so intense).
Double rainbow all the way Cross the sky Wa! Wa! Omigawd, look at that rainbow~~~"

He kept up the song for a full minute and a half. Then, he capped it off. "That is the baddest ****ing rainbow I have ever seen," Shin stated emphatically. He looked Kealey seriously in the eye, emotions as goofy as it gets, hands rested on his hips. He grinned.

Shin had promised epic and what he delivered was….sure something. All Kealey could do at first was watch. If she was good, Shin was a pro. He’d come up with all the moves, brought up the movie, and started dancing in less time than it had taken Kealey to run through her first try. It was amazing. And definitely epic.

What the heck was this song though? A giggle escaped the blond, then another, then a full guffaw. This was incredible.

Then Shin started incorporating his powers. Shards of every color began to appear as if there really were a double rainbow in the room. Kealey wrapped her arms around her middle, she couldn’t stop laughing. This was amazing. Shin kept right on going. Kealey kept right on laughing. Her eyes were tearing up, but it didn’t stop.

The song started to wind down and Shin made a final emphatic statement. Kealey gasped, then dissolved once more into giggles, finally letting herself fall backwards into the bed. She couldn’t breathe.

”Oh Shin…I think you just exceeded your quota somewhere near a million times over. What is that song?” she gasped, wiping her eyes and staring at the ceiling. She couldn’t get the images out of her head though.

Oh man. Her boyfriend was amazing.

"It's the double rainbow song," Shin said. He was pleased with himself. "I found a video online of a bunch of the Homestuck trolls dancing to it. Gamzee was amazed. Karkat was annoyed. It was pretty amazing." He stopped himself. "Correction. Is. It is amazing. There are other crazy movies connected to it, too, and to the video the original song came from. Weird stuff." He shook his head with a light laugh. "People take clips from news shows, autotune them, and turn them into songs. You should hear some of these things." They were pretty amazing.

Shin turned the laptop so Kealey could see it. "Here, check this out." He showed her the troll rainbow video.

Kealey listened to Shin’s description of where he’d found the Rainbow song but the mental picture of him doing that dance kept popping into her head. How could she not laugh? The giggles just kept right on coming as she sat and tried to put the trolls in Shin’s place in the dance. It simply didn’t work. She was going to need more visualization.

Shin explained that sometimes people took clips from things on TV and…autotuned(?) them? Kealey didn’t know what autotune was, but apparently that’s where the Double Rainbow song had come from. Super interesting.

The laptop was flipped around, and Kealey watched. Finally, she could switch Shin out of the movie playing in her mind and inject the trolls. It made so much more sense, and allowed her to finally stop the periodic giggles…at least until the Trolls took over…the video really was funny.

”That’s excellent.” she said, ”You said there’s more?”

"Mhm," Shin nodded, showing Kealey all the related Homestuck fan videos connected to the one he had open. "There are so many. Most of the volume 5 soundtrack is on youtube, too. You can find pretty much anything here."

Sadomasopedonecrorobobestiality, Terezi staring at the sun, Troll Bad Romance, John Hammertime... the list went on. Homestuck fans were insane... but so were Kealey and him. Their tastes matched!

Shin turned the laptop back over to Kealey, letting her lose herself in the art of the search. He didn't want her too lost, though. "They're all great," Shin trailed importantly. "But I think I like your dancing the best."

Kealey laughed, and laughed, and laughed some more as Shin showed her all the videos suggested by the one they’d just watched. Fans had made all of these? It was kind of amazing…no more than kind of amazing. Super amazing. The blond looked at the screen and had a distinct feeling that she knew what she’d be doing in her spare time.

Spare time. How did people have that kind of time? Kealey shook it off, they probably weren’t juggling school, boyfriends, and paramilitary organizations all at the same time. Or at all.

Shin handed her the laptop back and said he thought he liked her dancing better than what was in the videos and she had to laugh, ”I’m glad. I’m also glad it was you who walked in here and not some unsuspecting student who probably doesn’t expect random craziness out of me.”

Kealey typed for a moment before setting the laptop next to her on the bed and standing before pushing play. Linda Rondstadt’s Feels Like Home started playing through the speakers and Kealey turned a sheepish grin on Shin.

”Wanna dance?”

Shin didn't say anything. He merely stood with a smile on his face, and offered her his hand.

The song was sappy enough for slow dancing, so they did. Shin rested his hands on her hips. Her hands were on his shoulders. They moved slowly to the music, behind closed doors.

He didn't really get why Kealey was glad it had only been him who had caught her dancing. What was wrong with dancing and singing and making a fool of one's self now and again? Shin wasn't worried about people seeing them doing this. He didn't even glance towards the window to make sure people weren't spying on him, floating just outside... because that happened. Nope. The only window he stared into... windows, really, were Kealey's eyes.

He focused on Kealey's eyes. He danced. He grinned goofily. He was with his girlfriend. This was good.
