The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Mike just rolled onto his stomach and leaned off the bed, bracing himself off the floor with his arm. "Seriously, are you all right?" He didn't look amused or surprised, just... curious, and a bit concerned.

Daria grinned sheepishly and crawled out on all fours, sitting next to the leg of the cot. "Rain always makes me like this. Just since the mutation, i hate water. Can't stand it un less im drinking it or showering. And it has to be a shower too, can't be a bath. And if i look at the shower head then it reminds me of rain which reminds me of the accident...." she trailed off. "whatever. I'm probably just too dramatic. But this is what i mean. I'm not who i used to be. I'm stronger and weaker at the same time..." her face got serious and she looked at her reflection in the linoleum floor; watching her ears flatten against her head in sorrow and embarassment.
Mike shrugged. "I can't be around groups I don't know that are bigger than four without my powers trying to go screwy. Sometimes I can't even sort out what I'm feeling from what everyone else is feeling. And..." He sighed, "My power makes me kind of psycho sometimes. I get angry, and then something kicks in and makes me ANGRY. Like, not stupid insane, go-ballistic-and-blast-your-friends stuff, but I end up... doing things that I'd normally hold back on. Or at least wanting to."
He sighed again, realizing what he'd just said. Great job, Mike. Let's make her afraid of you already. Really smooth.

Daria looked at Mike's refelction in the floor and saw the regretful look on his face. With out getting up she turned her head to face him. "But at least you don't hiss involuntarily when you get angry. Or cough up hair balls in public places." she thought for a minute on what she had said then laughed. "I can't believe I'm telling you this stuff."
Mike shrugged. "A lot of people just figure that I'm going to know things anyway, so they might as well tell me. Of course, that's not true, but I do have a lot of practice pretending I don't know a lot of things that aren't my business, so I'm not one to run my mouth." He reached down and squeezed her shoulder. "Evolution's complicated, I guess," he said with a slight smile. "On one hand, I have psycho spells where I want to punish people for the pain they cause, on the other hand I can know people a lot better than most people can ever hope to. On one hand, you end up acting like a cat sometimes, on the other hand you can teleport. And you have a tail."

Daria's mind went blank at Mike's touch, but she blinked and shook her head to focus. "Hahaha. A tail. Well, I don't mind telling you stuff because you seem to care. And I know what its like to have my words fall on deaf ears. Thanks for listening. Maybe I should get some sleep." There was another loud clap of lightening and Daria screeched. A memory of how she used to climb into bed with her parents on nights like this flashed through her mind. She started to walk back to her cot. "I'll just cat nap right through the storm."

Daria smiled and lied down on her cot trying hard to use the meditaion strategy she learned in tae kwondo. Soon she was in a shallow and fitful slumber.
Mike looked up over at her and sighed. He really didn't sleep much, it was hard to stay asleep when one person's nightmare, late-night jitters, or equally emotional moments would wake him up. Still, as much as he liked company, Daria was tired.
Reaching out with his mind, he gave her mind a little surface tweak. It wasn't invasive, so it would only last a few hours and was easy to do. The rain and thunder just suddenly seemed to not register to her, letting her ease deeper into something resembling a decent sleep.
Smiling slightly again, Mike rolled over and tried to get some sleep in.

Daria awoke to the sun shining on her face. She'd slept through the entire night...for he first time since her mutation. She knew Mike must've had somthing to do with it. She stood and slowly crept to the bathroom. The doctors had put her stuff in one of the infirmary cubby's and she showered and changed clothes removing the bandages so that she could tell the doctors to put new ones on. Awake and freshly dressed in baggy black jeans and a baby tee with her signiture poison sign on it, Daria re-entered the infirmary sleeping quarters. The clock read 10:30. Not only had Daria slept straight through the night but she'd slept in as well. Having not signed up for classes yet, Daria had nowhere to go but to breakfast. She went over to Mike and gently put her hand on his shoulder. "Hey, Mike. You wanna go grab some food?"
Mike stirred slightly, blinking against the sun. "Yeah... food... that's..." He almost dozed off again, then shook his head hard to clear it. "Yeah, food. Sounds good."
Yawning, he stood up and likewise made his way into the bathroom. He'd showered before bed last night, not expecting to be spending it in the infirmary, and the doctors had fortunately let him go back to his room once to get a change of clothes and a few essentials. He freshened up, changed, and emerged clean and smelling fresh, though looking a little rugged since he'd forgotten to bring a razor. He wore khaki cargo pants and a blue shirt hanging open over a tight white t-shirt. He didn't, however, look quite with it.
"You lead. I'll be more awake in a few minutes. Damn, I wish I'd slept in my room, I forgot to turn off the timer on my coffee maker..."

Daria hopped off the cot where'd she'd been sitting, waiting for Mike to get ready and began to make her way towards the door but stopped suddenly. "Didn't sleep well, I presume?" she asked.
