The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

"I wouldn't worry... I don't think you'll be in here very long," Mike assured her, patting her shoulder (after making a quick scan to verify that, no, it wasn't painful for him to do it).
He thought for a minute. "And maybe you're right. I had to learn that if I didn't take the fights first, they'd find me when I really, really didn't want them... but that doesn't make it right."
"You just get better. I'll be back to see you in a little bit, if you want..." Mike stopped, suddenly at a loss, "This sounds stupid after fighting a dragon, but I didn't even get your name."

Daria blushed a blushed that couldnt be seen beneath her light brown complexion. "hahaha. Thats right. I didn't get yours either. I'm Daria. Daria Strong. And of course you can come back. I was thinking about going to see Kage at his mansion after i rest up a bit. Thank you...?" Waited for the friendly guy to tell her his name.

Daria watched Mike walk off. "Nice guy" she thought. The doctor had healed her cuts and bandaged them along with her bruises. She thanked him and rolled carefully onto har stomach to take a nap. She'd wait for Mike to come back and perhaps he'd go with her to see Kage.

All Daria could remember of that night was the sound of metal, and that it was raining. Daria owned a car, a sleek black Jaguar X Type but she rarely drove it. She used it to get over her fear of driving but she still couldn't drive in the rain. It was a crippling sensation that came over her when she got into a car on a rainy day. And a constant nagging that came over her when she got in a car in general. the pain she suffered from her fight with Kage seeped into her dreams to remind her of the pain she had had that night. ******* In her dream Daria had just gotten out of the crushed vehicle and pulled to the side of the road in hopes of getting some attention from cars that were driving up above. It was dark and some one had seen the accident from the highway and saw Daria crawling for her life in the ditch below. They called the hospital and the police and soon sirens and the blaring lights of helicopters overwhelmed Daria's senses. Something wasn't right; she could hear everything ten times louder and see everything ten times as clearly. She smelled the wet earth and the stink of rubber and smoke as if the odors had delved into her nostrils and tugged at the sensitive nose hairs within. Something was new and fresh about the world as if she were seeing it for the first time.
A team of paramedics rushed to the scene and their flashlights focused on her. The light was so bright that Daria did the most peculiar thing- she hissed. Startled by her reaction she backed up and moved her hand to cover her eyes, noticing the long two inch claws that grew from her fingers. When her other arm, which was weak from where she hit the roof of the car, gave way and she fell hard on her rear she was aware of something that hurt more than it normally would. Her tail bone and...her tail. The sceam "mutant" could be heard among the paramedics whose voices were low and distant, dreamlike. Daria remebered now in her dream that when this had all actually happened she had wished it was dream. Wished so hard and so sincerely that she actually closed her eyes and prayed to be somewhere else, anywhere quite and empty. That was when she awake in the alley. She couldn't remember how she'd gotten there (she didn't know she could teleport) and so she had attributed the whole ordeal to a nightmare. That night Daria was rescued and healed by friendly mutants she didn't even know existed. She watched the dream replay her memories and waited to be rescued. But instead the alley way began to morph and twist and all things solid became wavy and liquid-like. She was suddenly sucked downward and all she could do was scream. ************* Daria shot to her feet in the cot. She immediatly regretted the decision because the cot wobbled and she fell to the floor. The doctor came to help her up and she assuered him she was okay. It has been an odd day, almost drowning in central park, then in the pool then fighting a dragon. Her mind had been messing with her all day and Daria often wondered at times like this if she was insane. She lied back down in the cot and cradled her head in her hands. She didn't want to sleep but she was feeling better and knew that only rest would help her recover.
"No, you're not crazy," Mike murmured, eyes still closed, from a cot a few feet away. His face had some sort of cream smeared on it, thin enough to rub clear, but just thick enough to be noticeable. He'd come down some time during the night after his scorched face kept waking him up. "You're just stressed and hurt, so your brain's kicking out stressful and painful memories. And that's not helping either."
He jerked a thumb, still not sitting up, toward a window. It was raining. Hard.

Daria stirred and turned to face Mike. She was startled to see him and then angry that he had read her mind. The anger soon faded into indefference. Perhaps it was better for someone to understand her. She jumped from the cot, the bruises on her body feeling almost completely healed. She walked over to the window and stared outside. The rain was pouring and had drenched the grounds. Daria still wanted to go see Kage but now felt a bit chicken. Or like Scardy cat. She swallowed hard, her nerves were on edge. Fighting the urge to hiss she turned to mike. "I still have to go see Kage and set things right. I....I can't drive though." she turned away from the door. she hated admiting she couldn't do something. She hated asking for help for something so common. "i've got a car....are you up to drive?"
"I suppose I am, but there's a slight problem... the docs won't let us leave until morning." Mike finally sat up, an ironic look on his face. "Otherwise I wouldn't be favoring cheap infirmary cots over the comforts of my own room. Might be a bit overkill in my case, but maybe not."
"And you can go ahead and be mad at me. Lord knows you wouldn't be the first. Or the last."

"won't let us leave, huh?" A mischievious smile spread across Daria's face. "welll i've never been one to be held captive" She teleported from the side of his bed to the foot. "I can teleport us both out of here, no problem....Unless you have a problem with rule breaking..."
Mike winced. "Actually, I"m sort of on Tricity's shit list right now, as far as breaking the rules goes. It's a... long story. But what I *do* know is that she's planning on going to see him tomorrow anyway, so if we wait, we can go with a full night's sleep instead of sneaking out. And I don't know about you, but I personally don't know where this guy lives."
He shrugged. "I mean, I think that's the more appealing choice than sneaking out in a thunderstorm. If you're going to go anyway, I can't really let you go alone, of course," Mike added with a slight grin.

Daria thought over the situation. She didn't want to get mike into more trouble. And it was raining.
"i do know where he lives. I've passed by the mansion several times. It's huge and really...gaudy, if you ask me. It's only about a ten minute drive. But you should get your rest. " Daria smiled walking back to her cot. "I mean, since my mutation i can sleep pretty much anytime. Do you really think Tricity will let us go with her?
"I wasn't planning on giving her a choice, and if you know where the place is we can just follow her whether she likes it or not. Kage proved that he's dangerous, she shouldn't be going there alone. And if someone has to get pounded on, I'm more expendable than she is." He shrugged, "Plus, she wouldn't have to worry about my parents pressing charges if I'm the one backing her up."
He stretched out and looked over at her. "So... are you all right? You seemed pretty shaken up."

Daria pulled her knees up to her chin and hugged herself. "Shaken up is an understatement." she sighed, expressing her self was always hard. She wanted so badly to talk to someone but at the same time hated letting people get close. "I always get like this when it rains. It just..brings back memeories. I don't know i've been acting weird all day. I've had three near death experiences. It must be the norm in the life of a mutant, huh?"
"I really wouldn't know... I'm just as new to this as you are. I've never had a day THAT eventful, but..." Mike shrugged, pulling up his shirt. A deep, badly-healed stab wound graced his right side. "I can't say I've been bored, either."

Daria was startled by the boy pulling up his shirt but she soon got over her distraction long enough to ask "That didn't happen during the battle with Kage did it?"
