The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

It was roughly 4AM, but Mike couldn't sleep. He'd caught an hour or so in the cab, but the events of the night had him too on edge to rest. Daria, thankfully, was sound asleep in their room, though he doubted her dreams were very peaceful at the moment.
He poured a cup of green tea and sat on one of the stools at the counter, his eyes somewhat glazed over as he stared into his drink.
*Tricity closed the door to the bathroom and tied her robe around her again. She walked down the hallway and passed the kitchen. A familiar figure caught her eye as she passed and Tricity back pedaled to see who it was. She walked in and saw Mike sitting at the island.* "Hey, what's up? You guys are back then?"
Mike nodded without looking up. "Yeah... we're back." He sighed, then looked over his shoulder. "You know, I'm going to learn one of these times that families are just bad news."
*Tricity did the sucking-of-the-teeth sound again.* "So I'm guessing it didn't go well..." *She pulled out one of the stools and sat next to Cass.* "Ok, so spill it. What happened?"
"The short story is, they called the police to report a 'mutant problem.' While we were asleep no less." He took a sip of his tea as another glass poured itself and slid across the counter toward her. "Actually, to be more specific, they called a mob of squad cars and a bloody SWAT team."
Mike sighed. "Well, they seemed content to just let her leave after a couple days until she decided to not just bow to what they wanted and sign their restaurant over to them. We heard them say as much through an air duct. That night, after she basically told them she'd do what she wanted with HER restaurant, they called the cops."
He shook his head sadly. "And the worst part is that we found out her cousin was a mutant, too. He tried to help us with the cops... well, I'm sure he thought he was helping. Would've been better if he'd just laid low, but I can't say I blame him. The SWAT team killed him..." He shook his head again, "Being on the moral high ground is never easy, I'll definitely say that."
"I think she's still in shock, really. She was a wreck when we got out of there and calmed down a little afterward. It's been a long night, though... in the morning will be the real time to tell."
Mike nodded. "She's asleep... honestly I don't know how she manages it. I tried and couldn't stay asleep for more than an hour or so in the car, couldn't even close my eyes after we got back."
"And, by the way, when you talk to her, you know nothing about the problems she's been having with the green stone, okay? Please?"
*Tricity nodded as she put the cup of tea down away from her lips.* "Not a word. Though, wouldn't it be proper of me to ask how she was handling it? You know I worry about everyone in this place."
*Tricity smirked and folded her hands together, looking over at him.* "Frankly because I don't wanna know. If it wasn't on the news, it can't be all bad. Of course that doesn't mean you didn't wipe the mind of everyone in D.C." *She said sarcastically, though he really might have done some 'altering'.*
"Oh come on, you know that I can't do that," Mike smirked. "Well, in the event that you don't want to know, I'll just assure you that every officer lived to see another day and wasn't injured, and we can leave it at that. Even if they didn't deserve it."
