The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

"Johnathon has been around here much longer than you and he's very capable doing this. I have full faith in him." *She answered, not bothering to speak to him through his telepathy.*
Mike didn't trust his voice, so he switched to non-vocal to continue.
"Well, you didn't seem to be too sure of how committed I was a little while ago," he thought bitterly, "It's easy to dwell on how much I've screwed up, I suppose. My father could probably give you a lot of nice biased stories to add to it, if you wanted. I appreciate that you have a lot to deal with, and have been dealing with it for longer than I have, but I need you to appreciate that we have a lot to deal with in this too. It's only been a few days since I took three bullets on the front lawn for this place, which aren't too painful anymore, thanks for asking," he shot her a look at that part, "And even fewer days since I buried my grandfather who got killed for this place too. And just a couple days ago we learned that Daria has one of these goddamn stones in her, too. So I'm sorry if our coping methods are... well, I'll admit, they were god-awful. But I'm still laying my life on the line for this, and will do it any time you ask. Even if you feel the need to throw me out of the mansion."
Yes, he was more than a little pissed, but he tried to keep his mental voice calm.
"No one is saying you don't do wonderful, heroic, courageous, whatever, things for this place. It's just that I found out Daria and this new girl got in a fight an hour or so before coming in for the meeting and then I see you two....ya know. I've been stressed out and the hormones...well, you should be able to feel what I'm feeling anyway." *She relayed back to him just as she grabbed one of the three huge salad bowls to put on the table.*
"For the record, that new chick jumped her and was twice her size." He sighed, shaking his head. "I'm sorry. I'm worried about Daria, I'm worried about Sarah, I'm worried about you, and after all those attacks by the mudball, I'm worried as hell about Kitty. And every so often, I manage to worry about myself, but that's not very often. THe rest of the time, I try not to think about it... and I promise we'll find a more private place to not think about it next time."
"You need to make sure you take time for yourself or you'll crash. Believe me...I know." *Tricity replied, putting a hand on his shoulder and looking him in the eye.*
"When things calm down, I'll take time for myself," he answered, looking steadily back into hers. His look wasn't accusing or upset, just... determined. "Right now all there is to focus on is what has to be done. We have to do it, so we will. Failing isn't an option, so we won't. So my job is to make sure that we don't fail, whatever it takes."
*She smiled and grabbed some of the huice from the refridgerator.* "It's a good thing we found you because without your help, along with Daria and the others, I don't know...this place wouldn't be what it is now." *Tricity sat at a table in the kitchen and offered the seat next to her for Mike. Her heart sank immediately after a few moments of thinking about the last thing she had said.* "You know...I'm terrified that Whitmore has Orion and he'll use him against us. He's one of the most powerful mutants alive."
"Like I said... failure isn't an option, so we won't. Success means that you all get home safe, and Whitmore doesn't have that stone, anything short of that and there are problems. If worse comes to worst, I'll have Daria teleport that damn red stone into my stomach. I guarantee Whitmore will have a harder time getting it out of me than a museum."
"What are Orion's mental defenses like? Everyone has a chink in their armor, we just need to know how to look for them. If it's even an issue, really."
*Tricity thought it ironic that Mike used the term armour to describe something about Orion.* "Orion is older than he appears...hundreds, possibly even a thousand years. His mentality, therefore, is off the charts. So if Whitmore really has him under some kind of mind control, it must be something very powerful." *Her stomach churned when she thought of the possibility.* "The only thing to break it may be if he sees me or the baby in danger."
Mike tapped his head. "The emotions are the least guarded part of the mind. I could probably arrange a little shock like that for him."
He looked thoughtful a minute. "Of course, Whitmore COULD just be making him think that he has you locked up in that facility somewhere, and that he'll hurt you if he doesn't get cooperation. In which case, he wouldn't even risk bringing him somewhere that he'll see you."
"I've thought of that also...But Orion is just so clever. He would have somehow let me know or escaped, but who knows. This bluff could be just like the one he may be pulling about knowing where the red stone is and us leading him to it like jackasses." *She decided the conversation was best suited privately.*
"Well, if that idiot shows his face, I intend to make sure it's one of the last mistakes he makes. His people will be a little easier to deal with after that."
"There's also another thought I had... Is it possible that Whitmore has some kind of ace in his sleeve here in the mansion? I mean... he seemed to have no problem slipping through our security to spring Eliza out of here, and he seems to know more than we want him to about the people here. Maybe he doesn't have to have you at his base to threaten you and keep Orion in check. If he has this place rigged to blow, or something similar..."
"After all, how IS he planning on watching us leave to follow us? It's not like we don't have telepaths to catch him if he's spying on us here at the grounds."
"I'm guessing that ACE is Orion. Orion built this place for the ground up after being destroyed. He knows this place inside out, along with the security systems. It's the main reason why I think Whitmore really does have Orion at his facility."*She was playing with her food, pushing the veggies in the salad back and forth while thinking of it.*
