The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Daria twitched. She glared at him on the inside but on the outside she sipped cooly from her milk. She reached out with her tail and took the can holding it behind her.

Daria's ears perked up. She smiled. "awwwwww!" She caught herself.
I had sensed something before. When I was sniffing for her when we were waiting for her outside. She was closer than I had anticipated and it's hard to tell when there is..extra life so to speak. she finished her glass of Milk and debated getting another but decided on water instead. Yeah, that explains the extra food and what you meant earlier about her powers being out of whack. Now we really have to keep and eye on her.
She watched the little kids as they sat at the table peeking over at the stove every once and a while to see if the food was anywhere near done. It was in fact and the younger teens began to line the little kids up to get stew.
I absolutly love kids. I was enjoying my tiem at that hospital working with them so much. I want some when I'm older... she thought for a minute about her ears and tail. Did she want to take the risk that children might come out like her..? You think Tricity's kids will be mutants?
"Well, when mommy's a mutant and daddy's a mutant, I'd say that yes, the kids are more than likely going to be mutants."
He, of course, knew the hidden agenda behind the question. Smiling slightly, he walked up behind her while she was helping serve the stew and leaned up to kiss her cheek, one hand resting on her hip as he leaned in, then whispered into her ear, "And any child would be lucky to look like you."
He felt a flare of jealousy from behind him as one of the older boys jeered, "Get a room!" Mike smirked back at him, gave Daria another peck on the cheek and went to get his own bowl.
He was interrupted by his cell phone ringing, which almost made him drop the bowl he had picked up. He pulled it out quickly, checked the number, and opened it in a rush.
"Hello? H-hi... Yes, sir, I'm fine. Dad? No, I haven't talked to him for a few weeks. No, he- No, sir, I don't think that... what? No, I didn't call him, I don't think he can help me. Don't think he would, either." He turned the mouthpiece away from his mouth and mouthed 'It's my grandfather' to Daria as he listened to the phone.
"Yes, I did call for a favor. Okay, I need you to check into something for me. I can't get into a lot of detail, this is an open line. Okay, you ready?" Mike looked around, stepping into a corner, makinng sure psychically that no one besides Daria, if she really cared to listen in, could hear him. Quietly, he relayed briefly the limited information he needed his grandfather to look into, then stepped back out of the corner.
"Thank you, sir. Hm? The Xavier Institute. Yes, the mutant school. No, my father wasn't lying, sorry to disappoint you. I really did leave and come here." Mike was getting visibly irritated with his grandfather's questioning. "All right. No, I don't have a phone in my room, just my cell. How long do you think it'll- really? That quickly? All right, I'll keep my phone on. Thanks."
He hung up his phone and sat down with a bowl of stew, sighing and shaking his head.

Daria, now in a better mood than before, was fixing a bowl of stew when Davon entered. She glanced quickly at Mike then hissed involuntarily. Like Calamity, this guy gave off vibes she didn't like, but stronger. She caught herself and swallowed hard to stop the hissing but still her tail was rigid, her ears alert and her claws struggling to stay sheathed.
Please tell me we don't have to hide the kids again? she thought to Mike.
Annoyed, Davon hissed right back at her, letting his thick forked tongue slip out. Oh look, yet another cat that doesn't like me. Only this one has two legs instead of four.
He was leaning on the doorframe with his arms crossed. His duster seemed to move slightly of its own accord.
Mike quirked an eyebrow as he looked at the door, looking very un-amused. "Before I forget, because this has been a hell of a hectic afternoon, thank you for your help out there. Hungry?"
He wasn't this guy's keeper, and he'd had real things he had to do since he'd come inside. He wasn't feeling particularly like taking responsibility for this one.
"Beats me," he answered her, taking off his hat. He rubbed the base of on of his horns absently.
"Captain America over there said to hang out while he took care of the girl, then didn't come back like he said he would. You know, that's something that Cap wouldn't do." There was a very slight crinkle in his eyes. His mood, the cat lady notwithstanding, was largely playful... if a bit confused.
"I'm a little hungry," he lied. He hadn't had a real meal in weeks, and was famished.
Mike caught the shift in his mood, and it made him drop his guard. "He's all right, babe. Helped us out against those assholes outside earlier, he thought to Daria as he filled a second bowl up and sent it floating across the room to Davon.
"Take a seat and eat all you want. The kids got a little carried away making this, we're probably going to have leftovers clogging the fridge for a week," he said as he sat down. "I don't know if we caught your name. I'm Mike," he offered.

Daria cringed.
"I am not a cat. I'm still a woman and I'd prefer to act like one as much as possible." She was surprised at how much he was eating..and at the speed at which he did so. She called to one of the other students to get another bowl of stew and the basket of rolls. She refilled her cup of water from the pitcher on that table as the student did so.
"And I'm still a man. Doesn't matter to me if you're feline, so long as you don't mind my diabolical looks." He meant it too, but was distracted by the stew.
He looked at Cassiel, "Who was that jerk anyways?"
