The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Hand slamming on the leather steering wheel Sam yawned slightly attempting to stretch in the driver’s seat of his car but failing miserably when his hands reached over his head a few inches but was stopped by the roof of his car. He yawned again and stared at the back of a New York City’s yellow taxicab bumper. He had been staring at it for a few minutes. Traffic it seemed was going to be a problem today, a fire it seemed had been the cause of the initial of the traffic however a broken bridge a few streets over seemed only to add to the chaos that he and his partner was in.
”So…” he asked turning his head slightly so his right eye could glimpse his partner with the corner of his eye, ”Haven’t really had a chance to talk in a while have we?” Sam asked to Jewel who was one of the only teammates he used their codename for when in a conversation with them. ”How’s it going with Streak?” another one of the members he only addressed by his codename.
It’s true that he and Streak worked so close from one another but as of late his work with the New York Police department had him running from one place to another, weather patrol, drug bust or city meeting he was hardly ever kicking back and relaxing which was one of the reasons he was so tired today. Why sleep when you had a new girl to keep you company. It wasn’t the best choice he had made but Haley was and could be very convincing.
Another yawn and his foot tapped on the gas petal inching them forward as his radio played a little alternative rock that could and would be drowned out if the police radio called for their help. His car as normal as it had once been had been converted somewhat into a under cover police cruiser giving him the red and blue flashing lights in the front of his car and the radio was placed right under the radio giving his dashboard a bulkier look than it once had been.
Needless to say it wasn’t the car he had once been in love with which was why he was currently looking out Jewel’s window to a Mazda his gaze curiously fixed on it only to watch it drive away as the lane next to him moved forward a few cars. Knowing full well that if he did change over to that lane the one he was in now would be move.
Deciding he had enough with traffic Sam eyed the next oncoming street and turned his blinker on. It was a side street and he knew he could find a parking place there. He and Jewel could finish patrol on foot, because it seemed that if an emergency could arise there was no way in hell they would set any response time records by car.
Jewel was glad she had something to do again. After she got over the post-Romania crisis, and found the way back to her normal (although, in many aspects, new) life, she rarely did anything of importance. Other members of the team were occupied here and there, and Sam was busy as ever. Lily sometimes felt like she was not really useful to the team. That's why she was more than willing to do the police training, and that's why she joined Sam on patron when he asked her to. God knows why he decided to ask her, but here she was. In the middle of the traffic jam. So much about being on patrol. "Yeah" she sighed when Sam broke the silence. She caught herself before 'I've been busy' slipped through her lips - that would have been a horrible lie. Looking down at her hands, wrists wrapped in Shawn's silver and some gemstones, she smiled softly "We're good. Everything is going fine. More than fine, actually." she chuckled "Who would've thought..." She caught herself again before she returned the question. Asking about Sam's love life right now wouldn't have been the best idea. They were going nowhere, and Sam knew it. Jewel sighed and got out of the car once it was parked. "Why did you ask me to come?" she asked Sam once he'd joined her on the sidewalk "I mean, I really needed to do something, being on the team and bored ouf my mind as rich girls are..." she smirked "But really, do we have a special mission or something that you need me for?"

Once he found a place to park he and Jewel both exited the car and they started to walk down the street. Nodding his head slightly to her Sam smirked, ”Well it makes sense your abilities and personalities are complimentary so it only makes sense you guys are good together.” Sam said as he looked to his watch and then waved to a falafel vendor who waved to both he and Jewel. Sam guessed it was because it was of the badge attached to his hip that was in clear view to all who would look.
Looking over to Jewel and shaking his head Sam turned his eye towards a homeless man sitting on the side of the building. Sam knew he was homeless due to the smell and the raggy clothes. Reaching into his pocket and pulling out a five and placing it into his cup Sam looked back to Jewel, ”Do I need a reason to bring a fellow officer, teammate and friend on patrol?” Sam asked as he waited a second before adding, ”Special mission?” Sam asked attention turning to her not really sure what she was expecting.
”Patrol…” Sam said as he shrugged to her, ”No special mission, we just make sure nothing goes wrong.” Sam said simply, ”Go where we are needed, you know preservers of peace and all that…” Sam said as he turned a corner and spotted another vendor his stomach growling slightly.
”You hungry? Think I might grab a dog or two…” he said casually as he walked into the line in front of the vendor.
”Do I need a reason to bring a fellow officer, teammate and friend on patrol?” Jewel returned his smile. "You really don't." Being on patrol was quite comfortable so far; walking down the street with Sam, talking, watching people walk by. Looking out for them without most of them even realizing it. If bad guys don't show up they'll never find out who is watching out for them... "Yes, I could eat too." she agreed, following Sam to the vendor. While they waited in the line, she let her senses flow - feeling every bit and piece of silver and gold around them. She smiled and half closed her eyes. "It's good, being out here" she told Sam "Makes me feel like I'm doing something useful. For a change." she chuckled "I have been slacking off lately... so, yes, it was probably a good idea that you brought me along." Even if they didn't run into any problem they'd have to solve - it made her feel useful. "So, have you run into any trouble on patrol lately?" she asked him with a smirk. He probably had.

Standing in line Sam turned his good eye to Jewel as she commented on doing something useful, ”What causing trouble with Alex isn’t good?” he asked with a grin on his face. He wasn’t mad at her or Alex for that matter at the time he was irritated as hell but that was about it. He knew Alex was upset with the situation and he knew that things would be weird between him and Jewel but in all reality that was one of the reasons he requested her for a partner he wanted to prevent her from growing apart from him. (Even if he would never admit it)
”Problems me?” Sam gave her a playful look ”Do I look like I ever have problems with anything?” moving forward a few feet the line was moving along quickly enough. ”It’s every one else that I run down on patrol that have a problem with me.” thinking back over the past few weeks he had to think of a situation that could have truly been bad if he didn’t handle it as well as he did.
”Not to long ago I was called to apprehend a mutant that assaulted an officer then locked himself in an apartment. The officer at the time was her boyfriend but still…” Sam shivered knowing the pain of girlfriend troubles all too well he was just glad that Haley and Alex didn’t have any abilities that could permanently har… correction he was glad that they haven’t attempt to hurt him physically yet.
When they finally arrived at the cart Sam nodded to the man and smiled, ”I’ll have two dogs and what ever she is having…” Sam said as he pulled a twenty from his pocket and gave it to the man in exchange for the dogs. Once his change was given Sam placed a five in the tip jar before turning back to Jewel, ”Anyways, the incident resulted in me having to pin her, read her rights then attempt to calm her down till we got to the station… it was an interesting day to say the least.” Sam said as he took a bite of his food and then looked onto the main street. Spotting cars going by Sam looked to the sidewalk where hundreds of people crowded around trying to make their way to their destinations. No trouble yet it seemed but the day was young, heck they might even to be able to get away with a shift with little to no trouble.
”What causing trouble with Alex isn’t good?” Lily blushed. Well, that plan didn't work out exactly as she'd imagined at the time, and she was really glad Sam was still willing to talk to her after it. She didn't comment on it now - if she was planning to tamper with her friend's love life again, she needed better plans. Definitely not now. Lily got herself a burger, and listened to Sam's story about his latest adventures with the police. She couldn't help but smile a bit. "Never a dull moment, huh" she chuckled "Well, as long as we don't have to chase one of the Mansion residents across the city, I think we're good. Those kids get into a lot of trouble." she mused "And here I was thinking boarding school would be peaceful and quiet..."

”Quiets boring…” Sam said as he bit into his dog and looked around the city, ”Which resident are you talking about by the way? Isn’t one of my students is it?” Sam asked curiously wondering if he was going to have to kick up Gawain’s training scenarios up another level to keep him/her out of trouble. Then again he doubted he could come up with a scenario that would tire Gawain/Maya out that much, kid had too much energy for his own good.
”Would you have the mansion any other way? It’s not home unless something is happening, you know?” Sam said making it more of a statement than a question. It was the first legit home he had since he could remember he knew at one point in life he had another place he called home but… those memories were scattered and faded like a worn out picture one that he could hardly tell the difference between a fantasy and a reality. No the mansion was the only home he had now, past, present and most likely future.
Turning on the corner they were at Sam continued to move forward scarfing down the rest of his hot dog his thoughts still wondering from location to location, person to person car to car. He was own his toes as he should be they were on duty and anything could go wrong at any moment.
Lifting his other hotdog to his mouth his radio went off in his ear. It was dispatch. Reaching up and pressing the ear bud Sam responded. ”This is Sam…” dispatch continued from that point and told them about a situation near their location one that required their immediate assistance. It seemed that a pair of mutants got it in their head that it was to rob a jewelry store on fifth street one that Sam had passed by several times on patrol so he knew it’s location well.
”Jewel, we got trouble…” turning his head Sam pointed down the closest ally and tossed the rest of his dog in a nearby garbage can. Running down the alley Sam made sure he was far enough away from the crowds to make sure it was safe to create his ice slide. Forming a little extra ice behind him for Jewel to hop on Sam waited till she was on before he said ”Hold on!”
Three minutes on the ice slide and they were at their destination above from the higher elevation of the slide Sam got an aerial view of the situation. Two cop cars were parked outside of the store in a ‘v’ blocking off all foot traffic and car traffic. Three cops sat on the outside of the ‘v’ all of them had their guns drawn. ”So much for a boring day!” Sam said to Jewel as they landed and headed to the officers who looked happy to see them.
(OOC: Feel free to get things started Jewel, I’ll be giving you control over what the Mutations will be!)
”Which resident are you talking about by the way? Isn’t one of my students is it?” "I thought everyone was your student" Lily chuckled, walking beside him "I was talking about teenagers in general..." Not like she hadn't heard a mansion rumour or two, or hadn't seen all the little mischiefs... but she was not willing to say names, not in a conversation like this, it wasn't all that serious. ”Would you have the mansion any other way? It’s not home unless something is happening, you know?” Lily smiled. "Yes, I know. And I love it." It was true. Lily loved her real home too, but it was never as colorful and crowded and exciting as the Mansion. One moment they were strolling peacefully along, the next Sam got a call, and things started happening. Trouble. Jewel couldn't help but feel excited that their help was needed somewhere. Traveling on the ce slide was a first, and she made sure she held on to Sam, but all in all it wasn't a bad experience. Quite the contrary. She could sense the motion in the jewelry store long before it came into view. Her lips curled up into a smile. Well, at least she had plenty of material to work with, once they got close enough. Landing next to Sam, she glanced at the police cars. No one had gone into the shop yet. Good. Lily focused her powers on the building in front of them; the jewelry store lit up like Christmas lights in her head. It took her a few moments to break it down into individual pieces, and when she finally did, she could sense some of them them moving around inside the shop. Jewel turned to Sam. "I got them." she nodded "One is packing up in the back, and the other is in the front. I think that one can see us." It would only make sense that one of them would stand guard while the other packs up. "I have to get closer for my powers to work." she added measuring the distance "To get to the one in the back, I'd have to go inside."
((OOC: The one who's packing up is invisible. The other one's probably a fighter, I have ideas, but it's up to you ))

Looking from Jewel to the other officer’s present Sam nodded, ”Can you get to the back without being seen if we draw their attention?” Sam asked to Jewel as the nearest officer, who also happened to be the highest ranking officer there other than Sam interjected, “We only saw one but there were reports when the call was made about two… the only one we saw so far shot a shotgun and some kind of handgun off, the only reason we know he was a mutant was because his arms that held the guns were about ten feet out of the store… took us all by surprise…”
Quickly nodding his head Sam looked to the officer’s badge and continued, ”Right, Sergeant McKinley, you go with Jewel and give her any support you can me and the other two officers will hold down the fort and distract the guys up front, if you two can’t make a move without putting yourselves in immediate danger… wait for S.W.A.T.” he looked to Jewel and nodded his head, ”Got it?” it was clear the Sergeant wasn’t used to taking orders but he nodded his head. “How do you suppose we go about getting to the back?”
Sam smirked as his body lit up from the sunlight reflecting off of his newly created ice armor, ”You can wait a minute or you can go by…” spotting a man hole cover inches from them, ”Sewer would work, just head north…” not waiting for an answer Sam looked to the officer on his right and then the other officer on his left, ”Cover me, time to distract!”
Rising up from behind the car Sam’s face covered with a thick armor as he slid on top of the car hoping they didn’t have anything bigger than shotgun, if they did his armor wouldn’t hold up for long.
"Got it." Jewel nodded. She could sense a big bulk of precious metal and gemstone moving around in the back of the shop. She didn't like the idea of being shot at, but Sam was more than prepared to handle the robber with the guns. She just needed to catch the other one, right? "Sewer it is" she nodded with a smirk "Finding the right direction is not going to be a problem. Just make sure to keep this one occupied." she nodded towards the front of the shop as policemen opened the manhole. A few minutes later Jewel was down in the sewer with Sergeant McKinley, focusing on her sixth sense to determine their position under the shop. There was still plenty of jewelry left up there. "My ability is to sense and maipulate precious metals and gemstones" she explained to the sergeant as she took the lead "Kind of perfect for situations like this." She knew that any person with a healthy imagination could picture her being the person up ther instead of down here. Her abilities were good for that kind of work too. Just like most abilities were. Jewel stopped a few minutes later, looking up. "We are right under the shop now. We just need to find a way up that leads us to the back door." She could still sense the person above their heads moving around, carrying more and more jewelry and gemstones. If he (she?) kept working like that, Jewel would be able to come up with a pretty big surprise when the back door opened...

The second Jewel and the Sergeant disappeared he felt a chuck of his armor vanish, the first shot was fired and after another bullet hit the armor Sam heard to shots ring out behind him the heat from the bullets lit a pathway that echoed in Sam’s mind. He could tell exactly where the bullets were coming from and the pathway they took to the target.
However before they met the target the two bullets stopped short and the heat that followed them faded quickly before he felt the bullets surrounded by all the heat hit the ground. He blinked with one eye and felt another bullet to the chest. The ice quickly reformed and pushed the bullet out. Raising his hand the two officers behind him held their fire so Sam could talk with the mutant who was still obscured by the large gap between the door and the window.
”Yo!” nothing, ”I just want to talk!” he waited not taking another step forward, again nothing, ”This doesn’t have to end poorly!” a head poked out for a second but only to be hidden by his movement backwards, “I know you! Sam Johnson the cold shot right?” he paused waiting for a response, Sam said nothing, “The Human’s attack dog right?” again Sam said nothing, “You got my brother arrested not to long ago… he killed the a few of the worms you work with…” again Sam said nothing, “we opened a fire on police officers, we are already getting put away, I don’t really see why we should stop what we are doing, only taking our rightful places… so what if we elevate ourselves by stepping on a few humans…”
Sighing Sam mentally cursed the supremacists way of thinking, it made them irrational and you couldn’t negotiate with a irrational mind, but irrational or not Sam had to try he was one of them if they would listen to any of them it was him. Buy time that was all he had to do till a shot could be taken by the sergeant or Jewel he just hoped the mutant he was talking to was a telekinetic rather than one that that dealt with magnetism.
Jewel found another man hole that she and Sergeant McKinley could use to get back to the street level. It was quiet in the back street, with no vehicles parked; however the robbers were trying to get away, it wasn't by car. Jewel frowned; they still had the element of surprise since their poweres weren't known, and she didn't like that one bit. She monitored the second robber still in the back of the shop; he had managed collecting most of the jewels that had some value (they shone more brightly in her mind), and was apparently packing up. Jewel motioned to the sergeant to take a position at the back door; the silver around her wrists shifted, ready to take action. As the shots were fired on the other side of the shop, the back door opened; and the sergeant made a mistake. When nobody appeared in the door for a few long seconds, he stepped closer to look. The next moment he was on his back, and a female voice without a body attached yelled out a string of curses. Jewel's eyes widened; running steps echoed through the alley; Jewel's hands moved; there was a shriek, and something dropped onto the ground, before there were more running steps, and Jewel didn't even bother to look if the sergeant was keeping up. Her voice rang out in Sam's ear. "Cold Steel, we've got the other one on the run, and she's invisible. She dropped some of the jewelry and I can track her by the rest she is carrying. We're down in the sewers, heading away from the building. She is fast." Jewel frowned as she ran, following her sixth sense. I didn't see this coming...

The firing shot momentarily as he didn’t move, it was clear the gunner was up to something what it was he wasn’t sure but he had a feeling he wouldn’t like it. He waited for word from Jewel, nothing opening his mouth and closing it quickly he bit his tongue. The head poked back out for a moment, “I want my brother out of jail!” oh demands! Good Sam was making some progress, ”I won’t lie to you, I don’t have the power to do that, no one does, what I can do is make sure you go to the same prison…” a gun shot again and he felt a bullet hit his chest again.
Sam staggered slightly and raised upright the ice already fixing the armor over his chest pushing the bullet out. “That’s not good enough! I want him out and me let go!” Sam blinked through his ice armor, ”That’s impossible! You opened fire like you said, your getting locked up but I still can control where you’re going that much I can promise!” he had some pull with the commissioner enough to at east get them to go to the same prison hell maybe even the same cell. The head vanished from view and said nothing.
Sam was about to continue trying to convince the gunner that giving up was his best option until his ea piece buzzed meaning someone was on the other line trying to talk to him. After the notification buzz he heard Jewel’s voice on the other end. Quickly he responded back by touching his earpiece, ”What direction are you guys heading? Ask Sergeant if it’s possible to get a map of the sewer system or at least get a vehicle somewhere in your vicinity…. Can you track her above ground?” Sam asked hoping that the answer was yes, cause if it was it would make tracking the culprit much safer and easier.
Lily kept running; somewhere ahead, always just one turn farther away, she could hear running steps echoing and the occasional splash when the invisible woman stepped in water, or jumped. She did her best to keep up; her training proved to be very useful. It was dark down there; she relied on her sixth sense, since the stoled goods were still shining like a lighthouse in the dark... "We are headed... west" she decided after a while "west-southwest" she added after a turn "she is fast, but not superhuman, just a good runner. Yes I can track her from above ground too, but only to a one mile radius, and I could lose track easily... I'll send the sergeant upstairs to get us a vehicle. How's the other one?"

He waited for a moment debating if he should take a step closer to the building. The officers at his back ready to open fire should he give the order, it was a good feeling and a great sense of security but he had no intention of killing anyone today. If he could help it there would be no deaths any more blood on his hands. His toe contracted slightly in his shoe when he got a response from Jewel. He responded quickly to her, ”He is fine… or will be…” he paused and didn’t like the sound of Jewel losing her backup on a job like this. If something happened down in the sewers… he didn’t think more on it he didn’t want to think like that.
Jewel could handle herself even against an invisible woman; she had the materials she needed after all to gain the upper hand. He thought for a second, ”Be careful and stay in contact with the Sergeant…” he didn’t say anything else she knew what she meant. Stay Safe, don’t make any stupid mistakes it was obvious she was his friend and she was smart… she would be fine…
Shifting to the man behind the wall who quickly poked his head out for a second and called out, “… Eat S***!” and with that Sam felt a bullet scrape across his shoulder as it veered off course slightly after doing some damage to his armor. Sighing slightly Sam waved his hand forming a wall of ice in front of him signaling his backup. The followed suit and hopped over the hoods of their car and stuck behind the wall quickening themselves to his side. ”What’s the plan? the male asked Sam as they braced their backs to the ice wall fear in his voice.
”You two draw fire long enough for me to get the jump on him. After that do what you can to help me out… if you can help it don’t go for a kill shot…” the two officers didn’t seem to like the sound of his plan. They gave him a look saying they weren’t so sure the ice wall would hold up. ”Fire through these two holes,” poked the wall and two openings appeared just big enough for the police officers to stick their barrels in.
Their expressions lightened up slightly as they figured out they could draw fire and still be safe. Turning to the wall Sam scaled the wall with little grooves till he reached the top. The more he climbed the taller the ice wall became, till he was confident that the shooter couldn’t see him from the position he was in. when the ice wall stopped growing upwards and leveled out Sam placed his feet on the top and then stood upright over looking the scene with a low bird’s eye view.
As soon as the head popped out again Sam dove from his ledge overlooking the shootout scene.
