The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Two weeks. That was a lot. Shin arched an eyebrow, but said nothing. He'd figured they probably wouldn't finish with this in a day. It was too bad. He would have preferred doing something else. He closed his eyes for a moment, and tuned everyone out. Just the weight of the clothes and equipment in his arms, and the back of his eyelids kept his focus.
When Sergeant Apep started talking, Shin once again opened his eyes... and immediately closed them again.
Sigh. They wouldn't even be able to go back to the mansion...
"Do I get my one phone call yet?" Shin asked anyone who'd listen. "I need to call someone, and ask them to take care of Thor..."
One of the officers nearby heard him. He directed Shin to a nearby phone. Hooray. Complaining got results. He'd have to make a note never to complain again... Shin made the call, then returned to the group. He looked to Shawn and Emerald.
"Well, now that that's settled, guess we can head off to bed..." He popped into his room, and settled in for the night.

The next day came early and the three of them were awakened rather rudely with a combination of sirens and whistles. Instinctively Streak covered himself in silver and looked around before realizing where he was. He quickly retracted it and got up. Once they were up it was off for a nice cool morning run. Nothing that he hadn’t done before. As they ran Shawn went over what they had been told the previous day and he didn’t think any of it sounded that bad or at least none of it sounded like they hadn’t been put through worse at other times of their lives. Once they were done with a little workout it was time for breakfast. The three were soon marched through the cafeteria and allowed to sit down and enjoy some less than appetizing breakfast.
The breakfast wasn’t bad, but it wasn’t something that seemed like it should be too looked forward to. And one taste proved his senses right. It was nothing to look forward to. Flavorless and, unfortunately not odorless, definitely colorless and bland; but it wasn’t something that could be stomached and keep body and soul together. After about half an hour for breakfast they were ushered off to spend the rest of the morning in classes to learn about the life of cops and the laws they would be required to uphold. “I wonder if these laws apply differently to mutants or if there’s more of them that we need to know.” Streak said to no one in particular, but mainly talking to his two companions.
Long before the sirens had woke the trio up, Emerald was wide awake an old habit she had gotten into from the Labs. She was doing push ups when the sirens sounded, which made the wolf girl grin a little. At least she wouldn't be alone for the morning work out. Being physically fit was always something Emerald had taken pride in and when being asked to go run or do whatever physical activity they were told to do, the wolf girl happily obliged. It's not like she was trying to show off, it was just easy to tell that Emerald enjoyed the hell out of physical activity.
Breakfast wasn't half bad, not really that great, but not inedible. If it was inedible Emmy would be in trouble for if she didn't eat enough, she would have a harder time shifting as well as doing other physical activities. "Hate to be a pessimist here but I bet you they do apply differently to us. Don't care what Boss Man says, I can tell some of these guys aren't happy to see us here." Emerald stated to her to companions.

What kind of world was it where a guy with insomnia wasn't allowed his morning-to-late-afternoon nap? Shin had stomped into action, mind fixated on that one thought. He'd been woken up by sirens. Rude sirens, loud sirens, sirens that needed to go. He hadn't been allowed to sleep. The police were having fun with them. This sucked. There was no time for morning respite. They were instantly funnelled into a morning run. Shin was used to running. Being woken by sirens? No, not so much. If he came off grumpy around the police ordering him around, it was their own fault.
Breakfast wasn't any better. You'd think police would survive off more than gruesome gruel, after a grueling walk like that.
Then, it was classes.
>>“I wonder if these laws apply differently to mutants or if there’s more of them that we need to know.”
Shin crossed his arms curtly, and frowned to the side with a pouty 'hmph'. Emerald's answer was probably right on the money. He didn't say anything, though. Class time. He thought it pretty hard.
Most laws were made to react to problems that exist, after all. Laws regarding mutants were no different. The only problem with that logic was that, until everyone agreed mutants had the same rights as everyone else, laws would be shifty, and bad at dealing with everything mutants dealt with every day. The laws couldn't acknowledge mutants as beings with rights until everyone decided on the same thing... and it'd take something big to do that.
Shin blinked. Had he just thought that? He must've been feeling bitter from the bossing around he'd had to deal with that day... he needed to think positive. Their work would bring above a better tomorrow. He had to hope.

The laws seemed pretty complete and cut and dry. Of course a lot of it was in lawyereese so it was difficult to understand anyways. Streak had to agree with Emerald, though, most people still didn’t seem too happy to see them around. Since there was only three of them it was a little more than obvious that they weren’t just a small group of recruits. It was obvious that they were the mutant group. Shawn still wondered how that three of them were still able go through the program promoting equality with humans and mutant if they separated them like this even in training. Shouldn’t they be working together?
After the morning classes it was off to lunch and then to the range to shoot. Streak had to admit that this would probably be the fun part of the training. Something about the voices in the officers that were at the range seemed to lead Streak to the opinion that they really didn't want to let them have guns; but they were ordered to so they had to do it. So far Streak was right. Shooting was the best part of their training so far. Maybe things were starting to look up for this training.
No one seemed happy that the mutant group was there, making the wolf girl of the group more than a little irritated. What right did these guys have to judge them? At least they were trying to play nice and work with the police as opposed to the two sides being against each other in some sort of contest to see who can handle crimes more efficiently.
Emerald ate her lunch in relative silence, her mind pondering what she was going to do when she got out of this BS training session. This just racked up another thing on the list of reasons why Emerald had been thinking about leaving the X men as of late. Once lunch was over and they were taken to the shooting range, the wolf girl inwardly cringed. She hated guns, she always had, even when she used them she always hated them. Guns were just a cheap excuse to avoid a real valiant fight. Emerald took the gun and shot, trying not to show the fact that she had shot before. However, it was hard to hide that and the female shot semi well, missing a few times because of how much she hated the sound of the gun.

Aw, shoot.
Guns, Shin didn't really care for. They were too powerful, and too easily dropped into the wrong hands. You had to know how to use one, just to avoid getting hurt by the recoil. Guns were cheap. You didn't see people in anime using guns... well... not always.
As Shin listened to the instructor's information on how guns worked, how to hold them, use them, and the rules on gun safety, his mind drifted to other things. He wondered why they couldn't simply use their powers to combat criminals. Shawn had his silver. Shin had his shards. Emerald had her... what did she have? Big muscley arms, he concluded. And ears.
Shin remembered this one show, where a kid had had a power to shoot things with his finger. He'd focused his energy into finger blasts. That had been pretty cool. Why couldn't more mutants have that...?
Hmm... A thought struck him. Maybe he... could do something like that?
He'd have to practice. Maybe once he mastered his costume, he could tinker with other uses for tiny shards and all that other stuff. Hmm... it could be neat.
His focus returned to shooting training. Meh. The afternoon dragged on. Guns were boring, no matter how you sliced it. He hoped he never had to use one again.
