The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Juka breathed an audible sigh of relief when he heard Saph's familiar voice. When the unknown guy had entered just moments before he had thought everything might be over right there. So maybe he didn't have the most intimidating of powers, but in a place like this, especially with copious amounts of alcohol involved, it was difficult to predict exactly how people would react to a floating bubble. There was a 50/50 chance that they'd react with violence and that wouldn't be good either for him or for his two companions. He felt bad for having to drag the both of them off from inside the club, especially Sam who he'd just met, but just didn't know what else to do.
Juka floated up and out of the bathroom stall, hovering above the top of the door. "Saph, I seem to have gotten stuck in my bubble." Although still far from positive, by this point he could swear that the world was beginning to look and feel a little clearer than it had when he had first gotten trapped in his bubble. "I don't know what to do about it." He pouted and looked forlornly towards the window which was far too small to float through. "Can you help me?"

Saph let out a sigh to match Juka's when he came out of the stall. He wasn't on fire or anything; that was good. Juka then explained his problem, and paused a little. Sam came in. "Take a look for yourself... Hey Sam, man... Can you work your magic and get that door to stay closed for a bit? We prolly don't want anyone coming in and seeing this." Saph walked over to Juka, trusting Sam could find some way to get the door closed and come help them out.
He eyed the bubble for a moment, and then looked up at Juka. "Eh... Has this ever happened before?" He had to admit; while he'd seen a lot of mutations in his years on the streets, Juka's was pretty darn unique. He guessed this might be like when one of those telepaths started lifting random things without being able to stop it... Maybe if he just concentrated? Probably not, he was sure Juka had already tried that...
"Wachu think, Sam? Got any idea what we can do here?" He saw the distressed malfunctioning mutant look over to the tiny window, and frowned. He hoped they might get this done without him having to... widen that gap with his powers. People generally didn't like property damage, and they still had those girls waiting on them... Watching Eyepatch on the floor, he got the feeling the guy kinda needed it.

When Juka appeared out of the stall in a bubble Sam couldn’t help but laugh, it wasn’t a this is a hilarious laugh it was a more of a unexpected laugh. ”When you said he was in trouble I thought he did something else, you know set on fire opened a black hole or something of the like…” letting out a sigh Sam was about to take a step closer to Juka till Saph suggested he hold the door.
”I really need a vacation if those are my first thoughts when I hear trouble…” turning his attention towards the door Sam lifted his hand and frosted over the entrance of the door so no one could enter just yet. ”Guessing the ice sculpture gave me a way huh?” Sam asked wondering if Haley had a secret like him or if she was as open with mutants as some of the girls he had met recently.
”Well my first question is to repeat yours Saph,” looking to Juka in the bubble and taking a few steps closer he continued, ”Did this in fact happen before and if so what did you do to get out of it?” Sam asked as he took another step closer and reached out to touch the bubble his finger frosted over with a thick level of ice not really sure what would happen if he touched it.
Drunkenly Sam blinked with his good eye examining the bubble wondering if there was some kind of overlap or flaw, unless it was a perfect sphere he would find something…. ”Juka… tell me what you know about your bubble…. Details on everything….” Sam said as he heard a knock at the door, before he added, ”I mean… we could roll you out to the dance floor and beach ball you around for a bit…” he smirked as he traced his iced over finger on the ball not really sure what would happen.
"Its only happened once before," Juka answered despondently. "But that was different. At least I think it was different. Aura stabbed me and I almost died. I couldn't leave my bubble for an entire month." At least it had made some sense last time. Maybe his bubble had been trying to protect him or something, but that bubbles gave much protection, but still. Now, however, there was nothing to protect him from. He didn't even have any minor bruises, let alone a stab wound through the chest. Maybe his power had finally gone completely haywire and he would be trapped in his bubble forever after. Oh, what had he done to deserve this?
"Opened a black hole?" Juka blinked at Sam, momentarily distracted from his own problems at the prospect of black holes being spontaneously opened and the chaos that was sure to cause. Really, when compared to his own problems it made his currently dilemma not look so bad after all. "You know someone who can do that?"
"Before when this happened, it just sort of went away on its own," Juka answered Sam, trying to be as helpful as possible. "Unfortunately that was a month later..."
Juka paused before answering, trying to think of all the qualities of his bubble. "Well, it floats as you can see. It kind of has its own air supply and temperature regulation inside, so it doesn't matter what the weather is like outside. Um...I can send out tendrils and mini-bubbles." He demonstrated by sending out a tendril and picking up a nearby bottle out of a garbage can and then redepositing it back into the garbage can. "And its recently started to control time. I think that's about it." As Sam touched his iced finger to the bubble it compressed slightly with the pressure, little frosty cobwebs extending from the point of contact.

CS mentioned black holes and fire, and the like, and Juka's response made him laugh a little. "I wouldn't be surprised... There's a lot out there, kid..." Saph nodded to CS's inquiry to the ice sculpture; he didn't know any other way someone would do something like that. As far as he knew, true magic was a myth. Eyepatch's next comment interested him a little, but he knew now wasn't the time to ask.
Saph tensed a little when Sam made the joke about beach balling Juka around, but the kid didn't seem to notice it, so he let out a silent 'whew' and went back to problem solving mode. " A month, huh? We don't have a month..." He ran a hand down his face like a typical slightly drunken man in a crisis might. He paused as he heard someone trying to open the door, but they were stopped by the ice. They stopped trying almost immediately, and the older mutant put his thinking cap back on.
"So... how did they fix you with the bubble on? How did you stop the bleeding?" If they wanted to try and find a way to fix this, they would have to know as much about Juka's ability as possible. He had his question out, for now, he was sure Sam would ask about any of the other mind bending answers Juka had given them.

Placing his free hand onto his chin Sam thought about what Juka said and the questions Saph was asking. If it was a regular bubble it could be popped easily however it wasn’t a regular bubble and from what he could tell it wouldn’t be the sort of thing you could just pop. The finger with ice was still pressed up against the bubble and it started to frost around the area he had been touching. A thought came to his mind as he moved the finger up and down to see if the frost would trail up and down with the movement. It did however what Juka said about not being effected inside meant that what he did on the outside had little to no control what happened on the inside.
”Can the bubble be punctured? Split open maybe?” Sam asked as he moved his finger closer turning the only thing on the bubble to his entire hand. ”I could try freezing the outside, and then we could try splitting the bubble from there, you did say you were unaffected by the environment outside the bubble which means you wouldn’t freeze…”
Not executing his plan until he was given consent Sam carefully pushed against the bubble noticing it compressed under the small amount of force he was pressing on it. ”Has your bubble even been popped before?” he continued questioning only offering an answer to Juka’s question about the black hole mutant, ”Well I did… his mutation ended up taking his life…” but that was T.A.T. days and those days he wasn’t really happy or sad when another agent lost their life, it was the way the world was back then. They were nothing more than tools to each other, one died they simply got replaced.
Juka didn't like the fact that someone was knocking on the door. Someone knocking on the door meant someone was trying to get in and, iced shut or not, someone trying to get in meant that someone eventually would get in. And someone actually getting in meant that someone would see that he was a mutant and who knew what would result from that. He had the advantage of having a mutation that didn't really frighten people too much. After all what was scary about a giant floating soap bubble? But there was a crowd out there and large amounts of alcohol, which meant that people were unpredictable and where drunkenness was involved violence often followed. He really really didn't want to have to deal with escaping a mob of drunken humans. Outside he could escape fine but there were two main problems with the current potential situation. First, it was hard to float through a roof. Second, Saph and Sam were likely to get caught in the crossfire and he couldn't just float those two out with him.
"Oh, I wasn't bleeding," Juka clarified for Saph in a completely off handed manner, as if it was normal to not be bleeding after being stabbed and nearly dying. "Apparently my bubble stops things like that. I think its an automatic defense or something. Unfortunately it also makes it impossible for anyone to try and actually, you know, help me." That had been the most depressing and frightening couple of months of his life and words could not describe his relief when the bubble finally started acting normally again.
"I don't think its possible to pop my bubble," Juka answered Sam's question. In fact, the very thought kind of frightened him. He didn't know what would happen if the bubble was frozen. Could a frozen bubble be popped? Positive if it could: he could leave the bathroom without worrying about angry mobs. Negative if it could: He had no idea what the consequences would be.
"I'm not sure its a good idea to try and freeze and then pop my bubble." Juka sent Saph a worried look at the suggestion. The fact that the black hole mutant had apparently died made Juka doubly worried. Popping his bubble, if even possible, probably woudln't kill him but he really didn't want to have to find out.
Saph had his thinking cap on tight, now... He had always prided himself on a general knack for working out the mutations of others... It came from fighting so many fledgling mutants on the streets when he was young and he rolled with a... bad crowd. It really helped in fights; but he had never applied it to more calm situations like this...
"So it first kicked in when you got hurt... And... hmm.... A stab wound... Musta taken some time to heal... A month?" He tapped his chin a few times, and then snapped his fingers. "Think about it, then! If it kicked in when your body was harmed, and stayed until the harm was gone, then... maybe, just maybe... Are you cut or anything? Bruised? Did you bump your-" His eyes widened for a moment as he felt the room spin a little. "How often do you drink?"
Maybe he was grasping straws here, but he had a feeling he might know what was going on... He looked back to Sam to see if he was following the same thought pattern as well... If Juka's ability protected him from the effects of harm, then maybe his body perceived drinking as something that might harm him, then... if that was true, then maybe his power was freaking out because he was drunk? He tried to recall how many drinks Juka'd had... Those umbrella drinks did have a tendency to sneak up on you; hence why he was more of a beer man.

Nodding his head Sam removed his hand from the bubble if it was going to scare Juka that much to try and see if could pop well he figured it do more harm than good. The bubbles weren’t dangerous now but who knows what they would be like if he attempted to pop the one surrounding Juka. The bubble was his automatic defense after all, if it felt like Juka was in danger… well Sam didn’t have to worry about that because he wasn’t really willing to try anything very dangerous in an uncontrolled environment like this one.
Taking a few steps back Sam leaned up against the exit to the bathroom where a few people could be heard from on the outside. It was clear the bathroom was in high demand tonight, too bad they were going to have to wait a bit longer till they were out of the bathroom… whenever that may be.
Remaining silent and thinking hard on the situation Sam’s expression lit up into a grin when Saph spoke. ”Your not a light weight are you?” Sam asked curiously as he looked to the man in the bubble. If injuries were the reason why the bubble appeared maybe a bit of poison was the reason why the bubble appeared this time.
Juka listened to Saph's out loud pondering of his problem, nodded where appropriate to confirm the accuracy of the statements. How often did he drink? He took a moment to think about it. "Well, I used to drink all the time. I guess I haven't really drank much since the whole Cthulu incident though." What did that have to do with things anyway? He'd never had any problems with alcohol before, after all, unless you counted problems with keeping his bubble going in a straight line after a long night of partying, but that was nothing like this.
"I'm pretty sure I'm not cut," Juka answered. He would remember getting cut. He glared at Sam and his suggestion that he might be a light weight. "I most certainly am not! You can't be a rock star and a light weight at the same time, it just doesn't work like that!" Didn't everyone realize that? Apparently not.
The comments of the other two did, however, alert Juka to a rather unusual fact. When he had come in here he was starting to feel rather drunk. But now? He wasn't feeling exactly sober but he was feeling a lot more right in the head than when he had first arrived. Could his bubble have something to do with that? If that was the case, maybe he just had to wait for the remainder of the alcohol to leave his system. Hopefully. Oh gods he hoped that was the case, he didn't need to drink, really, just so long as he wasn't going to be stuck inside a bubble for the rest of his life. As much as he loved his bubble, he loved it even more when he could turn it on and off.
Saph listened to Juka speak, and looked to Sam as he made his joke about Juka being a lightweight. He noticed the man tended to look at the humorous side of things; he couldn't fault him for it. Sometimes a humorous outlook was necessary, and the older mutant knew of a few times that it might have helped him.
He found himself snickering a little at Juka's response. "Look, Powers have a way of sneaking up on you, and getting stronger without your giving a hint of permission. It's very possible that something your bubble wouldn't do a couple months ago, it would do now. That considered, it's very possible that your bubble is doing this because you had too much to drink... Now, do you still feel drunk when you are in your bubble?" Saph leaned against the wall of the bathroom, putting his hand to his chin in thought.
"Oh, and this may seem odd, but did you ever get a chance to... eh... Pee?" It really did sound odd, didn't it? He looked around awkwardly...

Trying hard not to take the snappy retort of Juka’s with a smile Sam nodded his head and then placed his head back up against the barrier of ice that kept the door frozen shut. ”No one ever said rock stars couldn’t be lightweights it would explain why half of them do the things they do and be a good explanation why all of the hotel’s they stay at end up getting trashed but…” Sam shrugged with a smile not really aware of what a rock stars life conceited of so he decided not to press the issue much more.
Nodding his head to what Saph had said about powers growing and sneaking up on you Sam couldn’t have agreed more, they did have a way of doing it. Without noticing it Sam’s hand trailed up to his patched eye and he began to rub the side of it with his index finger. It was a habit he had developed as of late and he often stopped when he noticed. This time he however continued to rub the spot. ”Saph’s right, our powers do evolve. Years ago it would have been impossible for me to do a fraction of the things I can do now.”
Sam shrugged and placed his hands behind his head not really feeling the need to follow up with any questions or comments of his own after Saph asked his rather interesting question.
Juka blinked at Saph when he asked if he'd peed. "Um, no my bubble kind of took care of that little problem." Well, maybe he didn't really have much of a reason to be confused. Just because he knew that his bubble could deal with eliminating all need for such bodily functions, didn't mean that anyone else had any reason to realize that. Time control of eliminating the need to pee. Just one of the many uses of living in a bubble. Or hopefully not actually living in a bubble. Gods he hoped he didn't have to suddenly live in it. Doing so once had been bad enough.
"Well I guess I'm glad I'm not the only one whose powers have ever started going crazy," Juka replied to Sam. Actually it was a bit of a relief to hear as much. Not only did it make him feel not quite so alone and confused, but, and he knew the thought was random, it also might explain Andrea's wiggly hair. He thought he and his disobedient bubble had caused that, but maybe it was just a part of her own powers evolving? Not that he had any idea what wiggly hair had to do with having bluish skin, but maybe things like that didn't have to make sense.
While contemplating Andrea's wiggly haired problems, Juka almost didn't notice when his bubble suddenly vanished. A moment of thought occurred before his mind returned to reality. He looked around a moment in confusion, before bursting into an ecstatic grin. "Hey, its gone!" He ran up to Saph, attempting to hug him and then, whether or not the other man actually allowed the hug, ran up to Sam in an attempt to do the same. "You two are amazing. Somehow you magically made my bubble disappear and I will no longer be relegated to a life of lonely floating!"
