The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Date... That dreaded word. So... this was what she had been worried about. almost instantaneously her face turned a few different shades of brown, and she firmly clamped her mouth shut. She wouldn't be asking anymore questions like that anytime soon... that didn't save her from her own thoughts though. If this was a date... how was she supposed to act? Was she supposed to kiss him at the end like in the movies?...but, he didn't' have a car... and they lived in the same building... how was he supposed to walk her to her door, when his was probably just across the hall?... where was his room anyway? she had never seen him exit it, so for all she knew he could have been living off in a completely different corner of the mansion...
As they were seated, Saph stepped aside and waited for her to sit first. She was a little caught off guard by this, seeing as he had come off as more than a little... er... abrasive? Maybe that wasn't the right word. what was it, Ghetto?...what did that even mean anyway? She slipped her coat off quickly and sat- rather awkwardly, and proceeded to fold her napkin in her lap... and then adjust her silverware- Wait... why were there three forks?... and two spoons? She waited until the hostess had wandered away, before picking up a small fork and holding it up to Saph.

She was blushing... That was good; experience told him it was good to make a girl blush. Saph smiled a little as he got comfortable and watched her mind racing about in her head. He wondered what she was thinking about.
And then she asked the question. He laughed a little, and then paused... she wasn't kidding... "er... well... You see the short one? That's for fish... the next one in is for salad, and the last one is for dinner. It's all very neatly arranged. I'm sure you'll get tha hang of it pretty quickly." He really wasn't surprised... none of the people in the alleys he'd frequented had ever been to high classed restaurants either; he had only gone often for about five months of his life, so he wasn't fully used to it... He knew how to act, though; any misstep in a place like this immediately had him flashing back to an old woman with a tiny dog yelling at him to PUT DOWN THAT ACCURSED SALAD FORK AND EAT THE MAIN COURSE LIKE A HUMAN BEING.
The small one was for...fish... the bid one for salad. Andrea blinked, and the last one was for the rest? Her nose wrinkled. She would have to find a way to conveniently make the smallest and biggest fork disappear... After his brief instructions, they lapsed back into a short silence. The fork she held was set back down onto the table and she shifted uncomfortably in her seat. What is one supposed to talk about... when on a date?, she asked herself. Her mind whirled, but she found that she was coming up with nothing. Her mind wandered back to the conversation they had struck up in the car. He had wanted to know how old she was... and had questioned her about many things to get that information.
"How old are you Saphirus?"
The question slipped from her lips before she had even finished thinking, but she went with it. Calmly tilting her head as she watched him from behind her eyes, unblinking and most curious. "And... I know we spoke a little about you before but, where did you come from? What is your story?" Her head tilted the opposite way, like a confused dog, and she had to forcibly straighten it. Her shoulders straightened and she held her chin high, trying to seem less the naive child, and more of a woman who demanded to be taken seriously.... she doubted that she could pull it off though. When a waiter happened by and deposited a glass of water in front of each of them, she took the chance to thank him and then pull her glass to her lips to relax a little.

Oh god, she was gonna ask him about himself again... he pulled a nonchalant, "Me? I'm 27..." She had been asking him the same questions he had been asking her all night... he wondered if there was anything he could ask her...
He froze just a little when she asked about who he was... What could he say? I'm a former hobo, I kill a lot of bad people, and I think you're pretty, want to kiss? "Well I've lived in the big apple all my life... As for my story... Well, I've got a lot of stories... Way too many to tell in one lifetime." Saph had a drink of water, too... His mouth had suddenly gotten just a bit try. "What about you? You seem like you've had a rather interesting past." hah! He would put the focus on her, and thus he could wait to be honest. Honesty was good, but sometimes you had to wait to slowly expose someone to who you were. That way they liked you before they found out there was something they might dislike about you. Like how you had nowhere to live.
Twenty seven?... Well, that wasn't what she would have guessed, be was a lot older than she had pegged him for. Andrea sipped her water, casually nodding her head while she listened, though her eyes narrowed behind her glasses at his 'too many to tell' line. He was avoiding the subject... or so it seemed.
>>"What about you? You seem like you've had a rather interesting past."
Andrea also froze a little when he inquired about her own past. He used the word interesting... he couldn't have been more wrong. Dark green lips dipped into a frown and the Greek lapsed into a short silence. Her mind drifted back to the many years she had spent inside her house, sitting by windows- her only connection to what was outside... She had been to afraid to break her mother and fathers rule not to leave. It was nothing compared to her time in New york... As if she had spent the majority of her life in Limbo.
"Yes... very interesting. Oh look, here comes our waiter." Her water glass was set down, she she picked up her menu to bury herself in.

The waiter had arrived, Saph frowned a little as she too was reluctant to speak about her past... He got to thinking about it... she really hadn't done much; he had to show her how to do everything. It was like she hadn't experienced a darn thing in her life... Maybe her parents had just sheltered her a lot? He had met a few people like that before... none quite as bad, though...
He came out and asked it. "Your parents didn't keep you caged in the house like some sorta animal, did they?" He was kidding, of course... trying to make it sound light hearted by exaggerating just a little so that he could get her to open up a little; he didn't know just how spot on his little jest was, though... He ordered. "I'll have the lobster, with the shrimp scampi... I may be ordering again, we have a wager on who can eat more." The waiter raised an eyebrow, but was polite in keeping silent his opinion about such behavior in a five star restaurant. He looked to Andrea and asked what she would be having. Saph watched as well, having said his last question lightly, but with little inclination that he was joking about it. He figured it was one of those things that went without saying.
>>"Your parents didn't keep you caged in the house like some sorta animal, did they?"
Her lips twitched downwards ever so slightly, and she stared at him as he ordered. he had indeed hit the nail on the head, and she was rather unhappy about that. The waiter turned to her, probably expecting a much more ladylike order from her. "I will have what he is having. Only double it. Please and thank you." She closed her menu, handed it over to the rather startled waiter, and picked up her water again to clear her throat before breaking her silence once more. Once the waiter had left, she refocused on Saph.
"My parents did the best they could for me." She stated calmly, setting her glass down once more. "You were right however. Until the moment that I left Greece, I never once ventured outside the walls of my home."
Her features stayed the same, not a hint of emotion. She refused to get emotional her first time in a fancy restaurant. "They did what they had to to protect me from others, and to protect others from me." Her chin turned, eyes following, and she focused on a couple across the restaurant. They looked happy, all smiles and sunshine. Andrea Imitated the smile, and turned back to Saph.
"I have spilled my can or worms. Now it is your turn my scruffy friend." And she waited...

The waiter asked what sides he wanted, he replied, he paused when she ordered double, and then laughed a little; she was trying to impress him or something... He didn't mind; he could just finish the food that she didn't eat.
And then she said the sentence that made his jaw drop... Wait, she WAS kept caged up in her home like an animal? Holy crap, that explained a whole hell of a lot didn't it?! He realized where his mouth was, and closed it quickly. "Eh... um... how was it good for you that they didn't let you out of the house? I mean, they didn't take you out to the park? To disney land, or what ever you guys have in Greece?"
He sighed a little, and looked out the window. "I, eh... Well... I've done a lot... Too much for one life, and I ain't even done yet, either... I've lived on the streets, I've saved some lives, and I... I've ended many that needed ending..." He looked up at her, wondering if she would understand that there was such thing as good killing. He wasn't even one hundred percent sure if there was... He just knew that when he saw that someone was a killer, he had to put them down.
He hoped he was just hearing this wrong, maybe she was joking... She wasn't, though... he could tell...
Andrea countered his sigh with one of her own, and intertwined her fingers in front of her on the table. While the deadpan look she had been wearing dropped from her face, her voice still carried a hint of agitated nerves. "I have plenty of fun memories from home... Sure, my upbringing was not normal... but I am not a normal girl. I do not hold any sourness over that. They kept me away from people because people do not understand what is wrong with me. Harm could have befallen my family, or worse..." Like embarrassment... and shame.
The whole subject brought up a certain kind of bitterness inside, she gulped and forced it away. "Love thy father and mother..."[/i] She muttered quietly, before turning to watch the waiter stride back up with a plate of salad in each hand. The dishes were set out, water glasses refilled, and he strode away again. Instead of letting herself brood on the past, she took a bite of her vinegar drizzled lettuce and turned her attention to listening to Saph.
The tale he told her, however short, still maganed to catch her off guard. She had been expecting to hear all sorts of things since she had first met him, but... the admission that he had willingly killed people before did cause her to pause in chewing her food. Her features softened, and she set her fork down.
"I am sure it must have been hard on you..." While she felt the inner battle over what was right and wrong anymore start up again, she couldn't help but think about the girl she had met at the Sanctuary. Surely, she was a case in which right and wrong were skewed...

One thing poked out at him from what she first said... "What's... Wrong with you? There ain't a thing in the world wrong with you, you know that? It sounds to me like they were selfish..." He frowned, thinking about how her parents could let such a nice person sit in a wallpapered cell and not experience a damn thing about anything made him angry... He came to a decision, and smiled a little bit. "Alright... I'm gonna show you the world, alright? I'll show you what fun is." He nodded.
They got back to the subject of him, and he got a little more serious. "well, you see... It really wasn't so hard... Most of the time, it was them or me. I was the better of the two, both morally and skillfully, and thus, I deserved to win and did... Sometimes, though... Sometimes it gets quite hard..." His eyes glazed over for a moment or two... Not too long ago he had taken out someone who had really deserved it... Someone who he used to call his friend. He didn't even use his powers, he just beat the man with his bare hand until he was all outa life... Saph reached down and took a sip of his water; his throat was getting a bit dry.
>>"What's... Wrong with you? There ain't a thing in the world wrong with you, you know that? It sounds to me like they were selfish..."
Anger sprang to life under her skin, a feeling she was not used to, and sent goosebumps up and down her exposed arms. She set her fork down carefully, and turned her attention to her barely touched salad. There was something wrong with her, that much was obvious. "We obviously do not hold the same viewpoints, Saphirus..." She stated, as carefully as she could. She was growing frustrated, irritated, and that stupid headache was starting up again behind her eyes. Her hands fell to her lap, where she balled them in her napkin, and she fought back pin pricks of forming tears behind her glasses. "but... My parents were not selfish." Her lips pulled back naturally as she formed that word, baring her jaws, and she had to fight the flood of emotions she was feeling. Most of her disagreed with him. He was wrong. Very wrong. So wrong in fact, that she felt entitled to hurl her salad- plate and all- in his direction.
And yet, another part of her cling to his words... because they stated what she had always feared on the inside. Her parents were ashamed of her... their mutated baby. That was why they had kept her away from outside eyes, away from the rest of her family...
She shook herself. He was wrong.. Her parents loved her... they had too. If they had truly been selfish, wouldn't they have simply gotten rid of her? Put her in an orphanage... or pawned her off on another relative? "They love me, no matter what I look like." She lapsed into silence, tucking her forehead into her hand as the pain behind her eyes increased, until he started talking again. About how he would show her what fun was- she fought back a bitter comment and let him continue... His voice changed however, and she glanced up in time to see is somewhat vacant expression fall over him, and pondered throwing her salad at him again before deciding against it. He spoke of a life she would never be able to understand. She had barely survived on the street for more than a few days, let alone a lifetime. As she was about to fall into a slump of her own, Saph questioned her wager to a trip to the beach. She felt the tension that had been plaguing her melt away and grinned at him, picking up her fork to resume kicking his butt in the contest.
"I have never been to the beach before. I want to find starfish, and sand dollars..."

"You talk about how you look like it's a bad thing... You're beautiful, you know that? You could stand to gain a few pounds... more than a few, but that's easily solved... Personally, I like green... and your eyes... Well, despite the fact that I pass out when I see them, they are amazing. So yeah, we've got different view points, there... Cause I am proud to be sitting across from you, out in public." He motioned to the outside world. "Them? They could think what ever they want, and I wouldn't care."
He leaned back in his chair, and then saw her eating... Oh yeah! It was a contest! He picked up his salad fork and got to eating. He had chosen ranch as his dressing; he liked a more classic American taste to his food.
"And I ain't saying they didn't love you, they were just too cowardly to be seen with you... I can't respect that...Anyways, which one was the mutant?" He tried to change the subject as he took the next bite; obviously this was a sour topic; she looked like she wanted to flog him or something, even bared her teeth...
"Wait, you've never been to the beach before? Oh yeah... of course... well... It's quite a thing to see... The water starts and just... doesn't stop..." He smiled a little... He had lived here all his life, so the beach wasn't a big deal for him. He could see how it might be for someone else, though... The older mutant decided he just might let her win, here... He could get a kiss at the beach anyways, right?
>>"You talk about how you look like it's a bad thing... You're beautiful, you know that? You could stand to gain a few pounds... more than a few, but that's easily solved... Cause I am proud to be sitting across from you, out in public."-"Them? They could think what ever they want, and I wouldn't care."
Her cheeks burned, darkening more than they had ever before previously, and the gorgon nearly choked on her mouthful of food. Beautiful?! He thought she was-... "Ugh!" Downing her glass of water didn't help with damping the fire engulfing her cheeks, but it did manage to clear her throat enough so she could breath again. With a gasp, Andrea set her fork down and collapsed back in her chair, shrinking at much as she could out of sight as she recovered. It was nice to know an all... but... highly unexpected. After a few agonizing seconds of silence, she managed to sit back up and calm her dark blush, while resuming eating. She loaded her fork to the brim, and stuffed the wad of salad into her mouth before she said something impulsive and regrettable...
'... I think you are attractive too, Saphirus...'
Taking another bite of her before dinner starter, she thought for a moment on what he had said before answering... "I know... that you did not mean to offend. I am sorry for letting my emotions get the better of me..." And like that, she washed herself of the anger and anxiety. He was forgiven, and in no more danger of flying vinaigrette soaked lettuce and a salad plate... but, his next question caused her to blink, pause a moment, and then shrug. "Neither of my parents were Mutants. They were both perfectly normal."
Then, the topic shifted back to the beach. Andrea sighed deeply, remembering how the air had smelled and tasted when she had first set foot on the dock back at home. "I know. I grew up not to far from the beach back home... we lived on a little hill, and my bedroom window faced the ocean." Another bite of food, and she adopted a dreamy look in her eyes... not that he could see it or anything. "I came to American on a Ship, so I have gotten to see what the Ocean is like already. I have just never had the time to set foot in the sand, and pick up sea shells." She smiled faintly, loading up her fork with the last bits and pieces of her salad.
He couldn't help but smile when he saw how his words affected her... She was liking it, he could tell... This was good. Now he just had to not ruin it; that wasn't so hard, right? She apologized, he nodded, and said cheerfully. "Don't worry about it." He took another bite of his salad!
She talked about her parents, he spoke without thinking."Well one of em had to be a mutant... Least that's how it was with all the mutants I ever met. All of the ones who knew their parents, that is. It's either that, or the milk man was a mutant..." Saph shrugged a little, pausing when he realized what he just said... wait, she was naive, she wouldn't know what he meant by that, right? He took another bite of his salad...
Quick, Subject change! "So, you've never gone swimming... do you know how?" yeah! perfectly executed! Now she just had to not ask about the milk man! He took another bite of his salad.
"... Well, it is possible that my mother or father could have had a recessive gene, i suppose. Neither of them really showed any signs of having what i have." She stacked her fork up with the past few pieces of her salad, and then paused, tilting her head to one side in confusion. "What about the mailman..? What does our mail carrier have anything to do with my parents?"
She shook her head slightly, confused, and finished off her food. Honestly, he made little to no sense sometimes. "I guess you could say I have never really swam before. We had a small inflatable pool at home in the backyard, but I rarely used it at all. It was much to much trouble to drag it out of storage and pump the silly thing up every time." She blinked, setting one of her forks down on the plate in hopes that it would be taken away when the main course arrived, and turned her head to spot the waiter heading their way with two small plates in hand.
Too small in her opinion. The man scooped up her empty dish, replaced it with the first of many dinner plates, and set Saph's to the side so he could finish his salad as well. After depositing the food, he asked politely if there was anything the two of them needed, and then vanished back into the depths of the kitchen to serve another table. Andrea blinked at the small cut of steak before her, and cautiously poked at the chunk of lobster with another of her forks.
