The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Character's full name: Kyle Maxwell Gordon Alias/ Nickname/ Code name: Polarity Gender: Male Age: 20 Birthday: 1/1/90 Nationality/ Ethnicity: Australian, descendant of the British colonists. Caucasian. Birthplace/ Home/ Place of origin: Australia born and raised; now lives in NYC.
Appearance
Hair color and style: Short light brown hair, smooth and flat Eyes: Brown Height: About 170cm or roughly 5 foot 6 inches. Build: A fairly average, if slightly too thin male of his age. His muscles are visible but barely defined (ie he works out, but not religiously so.)
Everyday clothing style: He wears baggy black trousers, a white shirt and white joggers. He also wears a black zip up jacket with a seldom used hood. Uniform: Currently not applicable. Sleepwear: Flannelette pants and a t-shirt. Miscellaneous clothing: He wears a digital watch with a metal band. Character
Personality: Generally laid back Kyle becomes very animated when actually involved in a conversation or other activity. He is very loyal and will normally try to protect people, even from themselves. Hobbies/ Interests: Loves to read and when not otherwise occupied can always be seen with a book in his hands. He also likes art and music although he can't play and is not a good enough artist to earn a living off it. Job or part time job and description: He takes part time jobs where he can, but does not currently have full time employment. Due to his insomnia he often takes night shifts as a security or the like. Fears/ phobias/ concerns: Although not a phobia he likes to keep himself and his clothes clean, even though his room is usually messy. Special talents: Not really a talent, he can walk whilst reading and can pay enough attention to conversations around him whilst reading to get the gist of them, even though he couldn't quote it. Morality
Good/ bad/ neutral/ other: On the whole a good guy. He believes in equality, for humans and mutants and although he also believes in second chances it isn't impossible that he may be driven to do something... permanent to someone he felt deserved it. ie: quid pro quo. He may try to kill a murderer rather than subdue them for trial, especially if they killed or injured one of his friends.
Mutations
Mutation description: His body constantly generates energy, which can be released as a psychic push or pull. He can make objects move towards or away from him, and by pushing himself away from the ground has developed a way to slide as if on roller skates just above the ground at a speed of roughly 13mph (or about twenty kph). He can use large pushes to repel himself from the ground and 'leap' approximately 10 feet (or three metres). He can cushion his own landings by repelling the ground more and more as he reaches it, effectively braking much like a car. By repelling approaching objects he can protect himself from harm, although he can only repel attacks or objects with a physical form, i.e. even though he can repel water, he can't repel electricity.
Strengths: He can defend himself by repelling objects from himself. He can repel with enough force to move a car, or to stop it from moving towards him. Can use this repelling power to move as if on rotational (his feet don¡¦t need to be facing forwards) roller skates by pushing himself away from the ground. Can pull objects towards him using a form of psychic energy. Can 'leap' long distances by pushing himself away from the ground as he leaps. Can cushion landings much like he protects himself from damage by repelling himself from the ground to slow his descent.
Weaknesses: The heavier an object is the harder it is for him to stop it. Also, the faster an object is moving the more effort he must expend to stop its momentum. Thus a small bullet (or similar item) may take as much effort to stop as a slow moving car. He can only attract or repel objects within a radius of approximately 10 metres, or a little over 30 feet and the closer the target is to the edge of his range the less force or pull he can apply. Due to his energy generation he requires a higher daily intake of food than normal people. This means he requires, instead of three full meals a day, four full meals and a couple of snacks. Secondary mutation description: Due to the high levels of energy generation, Kyle does not need to sleep. He does however require periods of low mental activity, such as reading, relaxing to music or doing simple repetitive tasks. Strengths: He does not need to sleep. Weaknesses: He still requires a mental 'down time' to avoid mental fatigue. If he does not get a few hours low mental activity per day then he will become more and more tired and less and less rational until he gets rest. He usually listens to music or reads books during this time although repetitive menial labour also works.
Fighting Style
Explanation: Uses own 'style' in combat, consisting almost entirely of using his mutation to attack, block and move himself around (he typically 'skates' during battles). Pros for fighting style: He can defend himself very well from physical attacks and he can attack enemies from a distance. Cons for fighting style: As he is untrained in physical combat if his powers were negated he would be easily defeated. Kyle has also yet to learn the benefit of dodging rather than blocking and as such unnecessarily wastes energy.
Faction Allegiance The X-men/ The Order/ The Kabal/ Other/ Unaffiliated Currently unaffiliated although he intends to head to Xavier¡¦s soon.
History Of Your Character: Kyle was born and raised in the outer suburbs of Sydney, Australia. The middle of three children he found his calling in books and tales of fiction. As he entered puberty the first signs of his mutation surfaced in the form of insomnia and near constant hunger. After seeing doctors and specialists Kyle began a special high energy diet and stopped sleeping entirely. An intellectual due to his study during his 'extra time' he got through school without anyone discovering his abnormality and without realising the true extent of his powers. After leaving school he travelled the country working at odd hours and would have continued to do so were it not for an act of chance. Whilst wandering around a city late at night he heard sounds of a scuffle. When he investigated he found a large man tearing the clothes off of a young woman. Kyle attempted to stop the man but was easily overwhelmed. Before the man had a chance to seriously hurt him Kyle¡¦s power manifested, throwing the man against a wall. Hearing a horrid snapping sound and seeing the man's neck bent at an unnatural angle Kyle ran, skipping town and out of fear leaving the country. Kyle travelled the back roads of America, slowing learning to control his powers and eventually developing into a routine. Upon entering a town he would apply for part time night work and, after getting some work spend his days seeing what the town had to offer during the day and working at night. In the small towns it usually took a week or two, sometimes a month before people began to question his sleeping habits, or lack of them at which time he skipped town. After about two years of his nomadic life Kyle began having intense, yet sporadic migraines and sought medical help. No doctor could diagnose the cause of his headaches and he was eventually referred to a specialist in New York. Finally entering a big town for the first time since his powers manifested Kyle's lack of sleep attracted no attention in the big apple. The specialist, an expert in the field of mutations, gave him some medication to lessen the effects of the migraines. Almost a month later and his headaches had almost completely stopped. It was at this time, when out and about looking for work that Kyle heard of Xavier's, maybe he could get a shift as a night guard or something.
Roleplay Where did you learn about this site?: Google. Gotta love Google. Do you have any other characters on MRO, if so who: Not yet. Sample RP: Kyle was reading the when it happened. He'd just eaten and had settled down in a comfortable chair in his New York apartment. It was small and Spartan, the bare necessities: bed, fridge, oven, chair and a small bathroom with a large cupboard almost blocking the door. He felt the beginning of another migraine coming on and slipped his bookmark in quickly. He reached into his pocket for his pain relief when his body was suddenly wracked with pain. "Ahh!" He cried out as he spasmed, curling up into a ball in a feeble attempt to ward off the pain. He clenched his eyes shut and tried to force himself to breathe. 'Breathe! Come on! Ah!' He gasped as he finally forced his body to inhale. The air cooled his burning lungs and for a moment the pain dulled. Then he breathed out and the pain came back a hundredfold. -- It was only a few minutes later when, sweating and starving he crawled out of his chair and towards the fridge. Using his power to pull the door open before he reached it he held out a hand towards one of the shelves. One of his 'special' ration bars flew through the air and into his awaiting hand. Quickly dispensing of the wrapping he consumed the foul tasting bar in only a few bites and sighed as his body immediately started replacing the energy he'd lost during his fit. 'That was the worst one yet.' He thought, still trying to get over the mind numbing pain. He thought back to how much more intense they seemed to be getting and sighed. He really needed to see that specialist.
It would be interesting to see what would happen if Kyle met Lee. An energy drainer and someone with huge amounts of energy.... He's like, the perfect food supply. I don't think he'd like to be thought of like that.
Lori, if you think you can convince him to work for you by all means go ahead and try. They could meet at a park or shop or something. I'd be perfectly willing to see how people try to manipulate Kyle. I mean, he's only at Xavier's now because he's looking for work, so if he got better pay that didn't seem to make him do bad or questionable things (at least at first) he'd probably go for it. It would be best to wait until he'd gotten settled in first though, so it doesn't seem like Lori's hunting the new X's. Unless she IS hunting the new X's, in which case, manipulate away!

Welcome to MRO, fellow mutie. I really like your power, and I was also intending on joining Xavier (if I could). Kyle and Brandon are somewhat alike when it comes to morality. Good luck RP'ing!
