The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Things... were not adding up. The pictures and names on her Map didn't match any of the street signs she was seeing... nor did the geography really. Andrea, nose scrunched in thought, glanced up from her map as the form of a athletic police man entered her field of vision. She had seen them a few times since coming to the state, men decked out in blue t-shirts and shorts, with holsters strapped securely at their sides and nice little white helmets clipped onto their heads. They looked innocent enough, but Andrea gulped anyways.
A cop was a cop, and she was still very wary of being asked one to many questions about herself. Unfortunately for the Gorgon, her nervous appearance and outward 'lost tourist' look, was not doing her any favors. The man spotted her and angled his bike her way. He rolled to a stop before her, nodding a quick hello before he jumped into what she assumed was procedure.
"Evening ma'am. You look lost, anything i can do for you?"
Orange eyes blinked and squinted from behind her glasses. She felt her cheeks heat just a little. Ma'am. That's a first... Still, he had a winning smile, dimples and all, and his tone suggested that he simple wanted to help.
He was kind of cute too... "Well, actually, there is." She wiggled her map a little in her hands at him. "I was following this map around, looking or shop to visit, and- well, i've gotten myself quite lost..." She half turned, pointing her eyes behind her at the large golden gates of what she figured to be a church. "I was going to go into that church and ask for directions before you showed up- Thank you by the way, I'm Andrea."
"Cameron, nice to meet you Andrea. Say, what kind of an accent is it that you've got there? British?" The green woman blinked and shrank into her coat. Her accent. I though I had killed that darned thing... "Oh... That. It's.... British. Good guess!" She shifted on her feet and shifted topics while she was at it. "But, um, i was going to ask you, do you know if that is a church or not?" Cameron seemed to pause, then blinked and dismounted from his bike. "Come to think of it, I don't know actually. What say we find out?" Andrea took her turn at blinking. Cameron grinned at her- which made her flush a darker brown than she wanted too. "That's cute. Brown is a good color on you, Andrea." He started up the steps, his bike left tilted up against the building and she had little choice but to follow him up and inside those marvelous golden doors.
Aura yawned as she pet her pet skunk behind the ear, looking over it again, she still could hardly understand how skunks and cats were different but most people seemed to insist that they were quite different. Standing up in her room she looked around it, most of the furniture was just months old, as she had wiped out her room prior to that chasing a phantom which seemed to have left her. Running her hands through her hair she turned her attention back to her laptop, funny how close you could get a machine when you used it to track things, like who was failing to pay their insurance and needed a friendly reminder.
Seeing nothing on her to do list she walked out of her room without bothering to brush her hair, or change out of the well worn clothing she had on the night previous. She saw little reason for such things personally when one had no ware to go. Greeting other Mutants in the hall, she stopped and looked out the window, it looked like a nice day out. Rubbing her eyes a bit she continued down into the foyer. Maybe she would go hunting today, that always calmed her mind and gave her somthing to do and their never was a shortage of humans though she had been having to go further and further since she could not just kill people who were paying them cash.
Aura opened the door and took a single step out and realized their was a pair of people in the way, taking a step back, she smiled calmly and warmly to the Cute green skinned girl, not quite her type but her mutation was gorgeous in itself. The man however showed no visible mutation, on his body, then her eye took in the badge on the man's shirt and Aura took a really surprised look. The Girl who had been calm before, suddenly flared pink, her expression almost one of rage now.
"The cute green girl i can understand, but an officer dumb enough to walk up onto sanctuary? Well i'll tell you what if you are a mutant, get rid of the badge, someone will prolbely take a shot at you otherwise, if your human and just that stupid, Run, run before a hang you with your own veins" she almost growled, her eyes never leaving the officer. "As for you miss, if this police dog is human and has harmed you, i can separate his head from his body" she offered, her voice revealing she qas quite serious about it. Aura hated cops and felt mutant cops were almost worse, since they were working against their own people in her eyes. "We are Sanctuary, Haven to all Mutants" she said witha wave to the building, the aura around her left hand had formed a sword like blade.
The doors opened and Cameron was abruptly cut off. Andrea shuffled backwards with him, before she was dragged forwards into the building by him as whoever had opened the door stepped back inside. He turned to her after the door shut behind then; correction: After he made sure the door had shut behind them, and finished his sentence. "-I've never been here before either, I'm pretty new to the city." After his brief explanation, he turned to greet the woman who had let them in so suddenly... but was stopped in his tracks as she beat him to it... Andrea simply watched and shifted someone uncomfortably, her map still grasped lightly in her hands.
My... she is awe fully red...
>>""The cute green girl i can understand, but an officer dumb enough to walk up onto sanctuary? Well i'll tell you what if you are a mutant, get rid of the badge, someone will prolbely take a shot at you otherwise, if your human and just that stupid, Run, run before a hang you with your own veins"
Cameron stiffened beside her, his eyes bulging for a moment at her words. Andrea was too busy blushing madly at the mention of her being cute to make much of her words at the moment. After a moment, before Cameron could gather his wits, what she had said finally sank in and Andrea paled slightly. The woman had seemed so... nice.. and calm.. and now her words dripped venom and her cheeks were heated...
The cop beside her started to sputter, "Now- Now you listen here! There is no need to threaten anyone- And threatening a cop a serious business by the way! I could-" Andrea caught sight of the blade at Auras side, and automatically backpedaled a few steps and attempted to drag Cameron back as well.
He refused to budge and shook her hand off of his arm, "-I could haul you in for saying such a thing!" Andrea tugged more, muttering a quiet, "Cameron... you ... shouldn't agitate her...she's-" He shook her arm off one more time and turned on her, "Will you stop that?!"
Aura felt less then threatened by the officer, most cops she faced had her gun's out and shot before they yelled freeze these days. From the fact she was well known to the officers who normally worked here as well as the fact that their were few who would not know those golden doors. He was a rookie new to the human pack that tried to keep the savage beasts in order. They failed a lot but they were just animals after all, however this animal was fool enough to believe he had jurisdiction over a mutant, the very idea, enraged her, her hand shook trying not to lay the cop down on the doorstop of sanctuary.
Aura ignored the officer and looked back into the building. "Lisa, i think the officer here, needs a bag and tell em to bring some stain remover to" she shouted back. Aura heard Lisa sigh as she made the call she needed to get a clean up crew up here, so the sanctuary still looked inviting. She turned back to the officer. "You had your chance, now if that is all......." She said, the sword quickly lost shape and like liquid reformed only this time into the shape of a drill. "To messy" she said to herself and the drill reformed this time forming an axe.
The distraction the girl caused by shaking the cop's arm was all the young teenager needed, her swing was under hand aimed, for the man's kidney, with his almost complete lack of reaction, her blade carried up shattering a few ribs before, it came out, and the man fell back onto the steps. That done, Aura let the Axe flow back into her Aura and looked at the girl like nothing happened. "I apologize for having to see that, but if you'l step inside i can help you with whatever you need, human cops can be such an issue sometimes" she said shaking her head and opening the door wider to allow the girl to enter as well. "Many here have been locked away for simply being mutants, so many of us have a dislike for morons like that. She explained, stepping over the body and walking to whhere the cop left his bike. Picking it up she began her way back "My name is Aura and yours?" she said her cheerful ature shining through again.
Andrea had flinched back in response to the cops harsh tone, but her fingers quickly found his arm again and resumed their incessant tugging.
>>"Lisa, i think the officer here, needs a bag and tell em to bring some stain remover to" -"You had your chance, now if that is all......."
Cameron's face reddened with anger. "Now wait just a minute!" His mouth opened and closed a few times, no words tumbling from his thin lips, until the full gravity of what she had just stated fell on him. He paled considerably and his hands dove to his belt. He was fumbling for his gun, while Andrea was tugging at his arm, to drag him out of harms way. Her shielded eyes caught the movement of Aura's Axe to late. Cameron's gun finally slipped out of its holster, into his shaking hands, before he Gasped and was silenced. The weapon clattered to the ground at his feet.
Andrea froze. Her eyes widened considerably at the sight before her. She had never seen blood... not that much at least. Nor had she ever seen an Axe embedded in someones stomach. She heard something cracking as the blade finished its arch, and her stomach did a back flip. She needed to throw up... really, really badly. The weapon vanished almost as soon as it had popped out of the young cop, and the bloody body slapped to the ground like a rag doll.
Andrea turned her eyes from the gore... from the sticky red spaghetti spilling out onto the sidewalk and braced herself against the building. What just happened?... Everything had seemed fine just a moment ago... then... Bam, Cameron was dead.
>>"I apologize for having to see that, but if you'll step inside i can help you with whatever you need, human cops can be such an issue sometimes"
She turned her head to stare at the girl as she casually went about grabbing Cameron's bike, then as she stooped to pike up the gun laying on the top step. Her stomach flip flopped again. The woman was acting like nothing was wrong... Like someone hadn't just died on the front steps of the building... She felt her mind whirling, and blinked slowly from behind her glasses.
>>"Many here have been locked away for simply being mutants, so many of us have a dislike for morons like that."-"My name is Aura and yours?"
The doors opened, newly named aura stepped through. The gorgon, without wanting to look down those steps again, pushed herself away from the wall of the building and stared through the open doorway. She didn't understand... she was confused... She couldn't think...
She needed a restroom.
"...I... I think I'm going to... need a toilet." She could feel tears prick at the corners of her eyes and let a gloved hand secure itself over her lips. She didn't know what was going on... but she felt very much like a fly in a spiders web. if she just stayed still and acted like a twig, she wouldn't end up its next meal.
"A little messier then i intended, should have used the hammer" she said looking down at the mess again. The girl had obviously never seen an animal die up close, as she looked ill, even for a green woman. She did not get a name but rather a request for a toilet, Aura simply nodded, the woman was a mutant after all. Aura sidestepped the men who came with the dark bag to take the body away. Aura gave only a passing thought to how well the bones in the cop could have worked for various peices of furniture. The bones were likwly prime and strong and easily would hold some weight.
"Of course, Miss, right this way" Aura said realizing how affected the girl was by the man's death. The girl obviously would have little fighting instinct, maybe that's why she walked into sanctuary with a cop. She had to admit it certainly raised her amusement level for the day. Reaching the bathroom, she showed the woman the door, leaning against the wall. She could imagine the girl might need some alone time. "Take as long as you wish, if you need anything i can get it for you, or have someone bring it" she offered trying to be as friendly as possible.
In a way the girl's lack of a stomach for violence was nice, not everyone should have to fight the path of the warrior. Some mutants were truly meant for other things even in times such as these. Still they did need troops to fight this war, and as much as Aura would enjoy it, alone she could not win. Running her hand's through her own hair, she decided she prolbely should have showerd today, but if she had, the stupid cop might still be alive, well actually she imagined he would have been killed rather soon anyway. Meanwhile she checked the gun over, seeing it was fully loaded and now she had a bike as well, things were looking up today already.
Aura ahd long ago gotten use to violence and killing to the point where she often just thought of it as something people naturally did. It was only upon meeting people like the Green Lady she recalled it was not the way for everyone, in fact some had never killed an animal larger then a fly. Aura ahd killed humans on a daily basis.
Oh, how wonderful a sigh the bathroom was. A nice inviting toilet bowl and a sink to wash her face after... As soon as the door shut behind her, she wobbled over to the sink and stared at herself in the mirror. Was it just her... or was she a little paler?
A new wave of nausea swooped over her and with a cringe, she glanced at the porcelain goddess. or whatever it was called these days... She shut her eyes and leaned against the sink to process everything that has just happened...
Cameron the police officer was dead... his body was being removed from outside- carted inside somewhere, and she was about to have to face his murderer out in the hall...
Her confusion doubled. She didn't understand... there were some many questions. She needed answers, and she was terrified to get them. The green woman shot herself a look in the mirror, a silent 'grow a pair', and stood straight in front of the sink. With a shaking hand, she pushed her braids behind her and turned to the door.
"Uh... sorry..." The door shut behind her and she was amazed at how terrible it felt to apologize to someone who had blood on their hands... possibly even literal blood. "...I'm... Andrea..." She also couldn't figure out if giving ones name to a possible killer a killer was a good name or not. Her lips shifted downwards in possibly the biggest forwn she had ever sported, and the green girl shifted on her feet. She needed to word her questions carefully...
"He was human and it appeared as though he might have hurt you had the struggle continued. This is sanctuary, a place for only mutants ran by mutants. Many of us, have had rather unpleasant experiences with humans, more so of the police verity, for example.....when my powers first emerged i wa sin a fight with another girl. My powers activated and i killed her by acident, but the humans could care less and simply locked me in a cage" she explained, not understanding the girl had been pulling on the officers arm,, understanding the girl's curiousness on why she simply killed the human.
"To be honest, i gave him the chance to leave, more then what many would have done in my place" she went on. It was true, many of the Mutants in sanctuary had such bad experiences with humans that most would simply kill a police officer and never give it a question. She normally was one of those, but it had been their front door. "Mutants are the next step in human evaluation making them animals compared to us, like a chimp is to a human. Most officers won't even set foot near this place" she said with a laugh.
"It is nice to meet you, despite the rather unpleasant incident at the door. Everyone here is like us though, with his or her own beautiful mutation, mine as you may have guessed is to manifest my aura into a shield or weapons. Can i ask what yours is, im quite curious as i love hearing about others powers. Their all so unique and interesting, my adopted father for example is a large bright red skinned man and their are many others, such as bone manipulators, light manipulators and more" she explained unsure if she was giving enough or to much information.
Aura did hope the girl would be able to get past the misfortune of the door incident. She really was on the cute side, though not quite Aura's type. "I would never hurt a mutant like that however" she tried to assure the girl, it was not quite the truth but she did try hard not to hurt other mutants unless she really had to and those times were regrettable but unavoidable. The cop, maybe she could have put more effort into not killing him, it had been their front door after all, but in any case it was much to late for that sort of worry now.
>>"He was human and it appeared as though he might have hurt you had the struggle continued. This is sanctuary, a place for only mutants ran by mutants. Many of us, have had rather unpleasant experiences with humans, more so of the police verity, for example....."
So... it was murder out of... protection? She found herself lapsing into yet more confusion. Then, as Aura explained more- she found herself understanding. This was a place for those who needed protection from the outside world... or maybe that was backwards. Maybe this was a place to house mutants- to protect the rest of the work from them?... her confusion came back ten fold. Violence was never the answer to the Greek woman, not even in the most desperate of situations. She lived her life according to gods will, and that meant every life was precious, no matter how-... frightening. Of course, this also meant she couldn't really hate people... because all evil stemmed from hate. So... what then was that feeling in the pit of her stomach?
Pure fear.
>>"I would never hurt a mutant like that however"
But why not?
She spared a moment to let the girls words soak in. This was a place for mutants- Only mutants. A sanctuary, as she had said. The people who resided here were powerful and dangerous, and hated humans- or so she gathered.
But aren't we all human? She found herself feeling guilty for ever assuming that the building was a church. Has she not mentioned it, Cam would be alive and she would be on her merry way home... minus all of the sickening images floating about in her memory. She had mistaken this place for a house of god, she was responsible. She resisted the urge to cross herself while with the girl, and cleared her throat. "I think I understand... this is a safe haven for... us..."
She cleared her throat again and continued on, " My powers... well, I'm blessed with the curse of the gorgon, you could say..."
Aura had no idea what a gorgon was, in fact she had never even heard the word before. "I Must apologize, i have never heard the term before. After i was rescued from the human cages i was used as a solider for a few years" she said honestly trying to explain why she had no idea what the term itself meant. She had missed many things after being out in the field for so long. "I spent two years in the woods of Canada fighting humans who wanted to use mutants to experiment on" she went on.
"So do you have a place to live? The sanctuary takes anyone regardless of background" she said still trying to eb helpful to the green woman. "And yes this is a safe haven for us, a place where we can be free of the humans and just be our self's without all the hiding, persecution and more. Just last week the humans were trying to kill babies because they would be born mutants. it's things like that why many of us have a hard time trusting any human" she said shaking her head. "Are you hungry?" she asked finally, realizing that she had not eaten today at all.
Then Aura smiled brightly as she spied a familiar black nose peeking in from around the corner, Kneeling down, she tapped on the ground a few times, and what anyone else would see as a skunk, came trotting down the hallway, its white stripe splitting at it's head into two before recombing upon the base of the tail. Aura picked the creature up happily. "This is Solkat, my pet cat, well skunk......people say she's a skunk anyway but i still don't see the diffrence" she said tapping the skunk's nose playfully before setting it down.
She listened to the horror story's that Aura was telling, and could feel her heart swell. It appeared to her that this place... possibly even the whole united states, had a real problem with mutants... or maybe just anyone who proved to be different from the norm. "Oh, that's terrible! Why would that be allowed, isn't there some kind of authority standing to prevent it?" She was puzzled. The authorities hadn't seemed that bad to her... heck, Cameron had even called her cute...
>>"So do you have a place to live? The sanctuary takes anyone regardless of background"-"And yes this is a safe haven for us, a place where we can be free of the humans and just be our self's without all the hiding, persecution and more. Just last week the humans were trying to kill babies because they would be born mutants. it's things like that why many of us have a hard time trusting any human"
Babies?! The horror she felt inside was plain on her face as her hands rose to her mouth. Wicked people doing wicked things to people her own age to above was one thing... but children were innocent. They were free from sin! There was no excuse to harm something that hadn't even started it journey yet; Those people were monsters. Heartless, soulless monsters.
"Who would do such a thing..? Surely not all-" It took her a moment to use the word Aura was so comfortable with saying, "- Humans.. are that bad?"
Her parents were shining examples of that.. right? They had cared for her, fed her, taught her her prayers and had given her an education... So they were good people, ....right? The Greek found herself debating that question. Her parents had taken care of her, sure, that was a given... But had they loved her? Had their love only been born from their responsibility as her parents?
Tears pricked her eyes yet again, and she found herself supported by the wall again. Her stomach churned angrily, torn between her ever present hunger and sickness. There was so much she didn't know... She was starting to feel like a child again, just learning her ABC's. She removed the hand from her mouth and stood straight, on arm supporting her on the wall. Those were questions she would go over later, while alone...
"Yes... I-...I do have a place to live at the moment... And, honestly, something to eat- or drink maybe, would be wonderful..."
"People can be very cruel to that which they do not understand, most mutants who wander these halls have some type of story like my own. My adopted father for example was a victim of human experiments for some time, others here, were abandoned my their human parents or worse" she said further explaining the nature of Sanctuary to their guest. Very few she met seemed to have any good experiences with humans, even those that fought to protect them.
"Not all Humans are bad, however, Like Lisa in the front. She is human im told and works to ensure everything goes smoothly here. Still our appearance is the next step in evaluation and people fear that because it means one day, Humans shell be a vast minority. One cna only wonder what chaos will happen then" she said thinking about it, truly believing mutants would one day be the majority of the people on earth.
"All right then, Sanctuary does have a fully staffed kitchen" she informed their guest and waved for the girl to follow. "I had no idea of many of the tasty things one could eat untill i lived here, back in the woods, we only had things like, deer or rabbit" she said as they made the short journey to the kitchen, which had ample sitting room as well as a kitchen area where a few chefs could be seen prepareing various types of food. "They can make almost anything, as their are mutants here, who can only eat spacifiic things" she said taking a seat at one of the tabels.
"i guessed from your reaction to the human's death, that you are quite unused to seeing such things, in a way i envy you for that" she said and a small part of her really did. She wished her childhood had been peaceful and without the constant fighting she had ended up in. Still what she was doing now, was very importent and ahd to be done by somebody, better her then this green skinned woman by her. The green skinned girl reminded Aura of why she was fighting, so that every mutant could be raised in peace and without the need to kill.
>>"People can be very cruel to that which they do not understand..."
Andrea kept silent and listened. Aura had spoken of her father a few times now, er, her adopted father. She looked so young, but the way she spoke and acted... it was like she has lived through many horrible battles... seen so many atrocious things. She was starting to feel badly for the girl. The old saying, 'Walk a day in her shoes' popped to mind, and the Greek found herself wondering what Aura would do if she had lived Andreas life. Sedentary and near becoming stagnant. She was pulled from her thoughts when the girl started to speak again...
>>"They can make almost anything, as their are mutants here, who can only eat specific things"
She nodded, again. Food was a good idea... but with all the talk of death and violence, she was starting to think a drink of good old fashioned water would be much easier on her poor stomach. You can growl all you want, I'm not feeding you until I get home... The gurgling quieted for the moment, and she sank into one of the chairs provided at the table. Her legs were happy for the rest, and instantly melted into wobbling jello once her weight was off of them. It seemed the shock she had initially felt, was still quite present. Hopefully she would be able to stand again once the time came for her to leave... hopefully soon...
>>"i guessed from your reaction to the human's death, that you are quite unused to seeing such things, in a way i envy you for that"
She nodded, slowly. It was true.. she was unused to witnessing death. She had never even attended a funeral, let alone gotten someones blood on her rain coa- She squashed the thought before if could finish. There was no blood... no Cameron. Just a casual... odd conversation with a newly met mutant who lived in this building. This sanctuary. She could at least live with that delusion for a little while.... until she was home, in her bed, and possibly asleep.
"You would be right.... I have not witnessed... death at all really. This...news, is all pretty new to me. I had never heard of such horrible things before." Would it be appropriate for her to apologize for everything Aura had gone through?... She didn't know. She did know, however, that the cold way the girl kept referring to other non-mutated as 'Humans'. It frightened her... it really did. She felt the need to launch into a short, 'God does not differentiate between mutants and regular folk'... but this wasn't about god. This was about people against people. Man made hate.
"Where can I get a glass for some water?' She asked, after clearing her throat. She slipped from the chair and hovered by the table while she waited.
"Well that's good, though these are harsh time's for our people, it is always good to meet a mutant relatively innocent of the dance" she said as usual completely unaware most people did not refer to battle as a dance."Unfortunately i'm quite used to it, after the police locked me in their cages, months passed, then a woman, my first leader rescued me and my friends and tought us how to dance and kill so we could rescue other mutants from labs, however a traitor exposed us one day and everyone, except me, was killed by the Humans and their guns." she said, the sadness in her eyes was obvious, she had lost a lot of good friends there in that single night. "But i ended up here and now here we are" she said unaware that a year had passed since the massacre of her old base camp.
Raising her hand to summon attention, someone quickly made their way over, and Aura asked for water, for them both, as well as an order of French fries, a strange food she had grown to like and reminded her of when she was really young, though she could not recall why. The water came quickly the fries would be a little longer, though the smell of burnt potatoes already was filling the air around them. "Pretty easy, these guys normally take care of people while their here, amazing really" she said thinking to herself.
"We are all different and that's what makes us mutants and as such beautiful. I Like being here as i get to see so many different powers used in so many ways, i do believe your the first green person i met for example." she started to say when a weight suddenly jumped into her lap, pushing its nose up between the table and Aura. Picking the skunk up, Aura set it back on the ground, but petted her anyway, the skunk's real point of entering. "I got Solkat from a zoo, she listens well for a cat" she said with a smile. The skunk made her happy, even if it wa snot a cat, then aura sat back up. "Do you have any pets?" she asked tilting her head curiously, even as the fries were set ont he table.
>>"Unfortunately i'm quite used to it, after the police locked me in their cages, months passed, then a woman, my first leader rescued me and my friends and tought us how to dance and kill so we could rescue other mutants from labs, however a traitor exposed us one day and everyone, except me, was killed by the Humans and their guns."-"But i ended up here and now here we are"
The Gorgon's lips drooped in a small, sad frown, and she sat again. Aura's story seemed to only get worse the more she talked... It made Andrea want to reach out and pull the girl into a hug. Of course, that was more likely not to happen. She did, however, find herself reaching out slowly with a still trembling hand to pat one of Aura's hands in a reassuring way.... well, as reassuring as she could manage anyway. She never had been much good at consoling people, or anything that had to do with interacting with others... That aside, she still felt inclined to alleviate the sadness that had seeped into the girls eyes. The sadness one felt from deep within. In a way, she was familiar with that pain. Not to the same extent as the girl across the table; merely glimpses of it... but she had not felt that for some time.
"...I... Am truly sorry for what you went through... No one should have to live as such. I am happy you found somewhere where people support you, and love you." There was nothing her words could really do to fixed what had been done to Aura, they were simply band aids in vocal form, there to stifle some of the pain, until one's own skin grew strong enough to heal the wounds on its own. From what Andrea gathered from her, Aura seemed strong enough that she probably didn't even need them...
>>"We are all different and that's what makes us mutants and as such beautiful. I Like being here as i get to see so many different powers used in so many ways, i do believe your the first green person I met for example."
All beautiful... beautiful. Andrea tilted her head and withdrew her hand back to her side of the table. Her stomach problems faded into the background momentarily. She was bewildered for the moment, to say the least, Sure... some people had beautiful mutations; different colored eyes or hair for example... but could they all be considered Beautiful? She didn't need to look herself over to be reminded of what a... well, sight she was. No, in her mind, she was not one of these beautiful mutants Aura spoke of. Andrea had set herself in her own special category a long time ago, back when she had first dove into old Greek and Roman myths.
But... that did not mean the rest of the mutant population had to be dragged into said category with her. In god's eyes, all creatures were beautiful, she didn't need the good book in her hands to be reminded of that fact. A sip from her water provided her with a chilly cooling sensation in her stomach.... Back to the Green thing; "I'm the only one I have seen as well... Though, there is a green skinned fellow running around New York somewhere... if my memory proves correct." Eying the skunk as Aura picked it up, she found herself tilting her head once more. She hadn't really paid it that much attention before, but now her minimal amount of accumulated knowledge on the species was ebbing back. Most people stayed away from skunks, for skunks sprayed, and what came from their behind was a most foul and eye watering stench- or so she had heard. But, if Aura was not afraid, Andrea felt no need to fear it either.
>>"Do you have any pets?"
She nodded slowly, turning her attention to the freshly cooked food set before them instead of the animal scurrying about on the floor. "I have a Cat back home, His name is Chester..." Though... "I don't know if I can really call him my pet anymore, He kind of hates me." She finished of the sentence with a semi smile and wrapped her fingers around her water glass. Surely, that cat was sneezing half way across the world, and wondering who was talking about him.
