The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

The importance of this mission could not be contained in mere words. It was the first for Shin since King's Pharmaceuticals, the first mission in a foreign country, and the first mission where he would work with a team. It had been a while, to say the least. King Pharmaceuticals still fell in Shin's mind as a failure. He'd been unable to protect those dear to him. He'd been unable to protect himself from Sam. He'd been bold, egotistic, and foolish. Since then, Shin had done his best to train, and practice his talents. He'd done his best to help with the X-men tryouts. He'd done his best to polish his leadership skills so that, if called to act, he could direct others without stumbling over his words. To Shin, this mission was paramount to so many things.
The thought of what the mission stood for didn't even begin to belie the fact that beyond his personal reasons for doing it, there were the common sense ones. They couldn't let something like the concentration camps of the Mutant Registration act come about again. This was wrong, morally. This was wrong, physically. When Streak began his speech, Shin listened intently, for all the reasons presented above.
It became apparent rather quickly how difficult this job would be. Shin nodded. So, they were helping people out of the country... And building connections with the locals. They'd need those contacts to maximize the number of people they'd help.
Shin knew that building trust was difficult. With this act in effect, many wouldn't want to believe there could be such people out there to help them. They'd have to tread lightly. If they worked too hard, out in the open, they'd attract the wrong kinds of attention. If they failed to prove they had the mutant race's best interests at heart, people might think they were working with Romanian police in gathering troubled groups. If they took a wrong step on the narrow bridge they'd walk between mutants and the law, they'd fail, and fall. It was good they had a plan.
Shin nodded as Streak detailed the sweeps. It sounded good. Not attracting attention. Again. That was key. Shin glanced towards Kasumi, towards Jewel, towards Fade... he hoped they'd all be able to work well as a team. He hoped whoever was paired with Kasumi could protect her, if such a situation arose that she couldn't do so herself... he dismissed a trace of worry, shifting his attention back towards Streak. It wasn't right he was still so worried... he had to have faith. It's what she wanted. If only he wasn't so weak...
His eyes snapped back to Fade as Streak announced teams. He hadn't worked much with Fade. This would be a learning experience.
>>"That's a lot of work, if we have no leads." "Do we have a time limit?"
Shin looked to Lily. He didn't say his thoughts... really didn't want to put the words 'before the ultimate conclusion' out there...
While Streak spoke, Fade just listened intently, watching the faces on everyone around her. When she was an X-Man before, she had gone on quite a few missions and been in quite a few fights. The Whitmore Attack was the first one and at the sign of trouble, her X-boyfriend ((hehe)) had saved her. Then at KP, she had acted a little foolish, yes, but it was tough to take a girl off the streets and put her in good shoes, shoes that will get in trouble if she does something stupid and impulsive. Fighting the big kitty was not exactly her idea of a fair battle, but then again, she had enough yells from Ghost and Sam to make her stop.
This time, Shawn trusted her and even put her in charge. Who would trust Fade? Maybe it was just from her background experience with the X-Men but it always seemed odd that she was the least educated out of anyone, she did not even finish elementary school but she was placed in charge of a team. Shin would be a good team mate, at least she hoped. Honestly, she did not know much about this guy, what was his power even? Maybe she did know that and she was just being slow today. Anyways, she stood back and listened to the questions and the remarks on how much work it will be.
Of course, for a mutant with physical abilities, like manipulators and such, it would be harder to get information out by using their power. Fade, on the other hand, had the perfect reconnaissance ability, everyone can talk freely when they think no one is around and she could eavesdrop on some good information. "If we have no leads, I can spy on some people, try to find a lead without a direct source," she offered, although she would have probably done it without permission. She could even use her phasing power in public, like as an accident and then flee the scene to find if anyone will approach her to help. But if they approached her to take her away, she'd just simply fade. Though that was much more risky.

Oh boy. Questions flooded out of them like a leaky faucet. Apparently they were all just about as nervous as he was. Although as the leader he couldn't let them know how stressed out he was with this mission. Of all the missions he'd been on this was the one that put him through the most mental turmoil. He had to stay strong and solid. There would be time to fret while he was alone, but until then he had to have the answers for them. If they were more at ease then maybe that would help him become more at ease as well. "Time limit? We don't have a set time frame but we do need to do this as soon as possible. The faster we do this the sooner we can move on to our second part of our job." He hadn't mentioned that there was more to their job than just this until now. Streak wasn't about to go into it right now but once they started to get leads he would be able to start working on it then.
"Unfortunately we can't just go asking around. There's people out there that are looking for mutants so that they can throw them into the camps. So we'll need to do this with as few people knowing as possible. The only way we'll be able to do that will be following people that seem like they're acting weird or nervously." This was going to be the hardest job he'd ever done. Not just in leading the mission, but also finding people that didn't want to be found. "Fade that's a great idea. That's why I wanted you to be apart of this team. You're the best at getting information. If there's nothing else then yall are dismissed. We start tomorrow night. Meet back here at 8 o'clock. Get some rest it's gonna be a tough and long night tomorrow." Streak said. He was hoping they would leave soon. Nothing else that they would discuss tonight would help them get the details ironed out for tomorrow. He still had some planning to do and some things that he needed to get ready for when he would hand out their assignments tomorrow. Streak would simply wait for them to leave before he would finish his work.
"Time limit? We don't have a set time frame but we do need to do this as soon as possible. The faster we do this the sooner we can move on to our second part of our job." Jewel listened and nodded. Second part? So there was more to the mission. Well. For a second it crossed her mind to ask, but she didn't want to interrupt. They will know everything in due time. The team leader will make sure of that. "...Get some rest it's gonna be a tough and long night tomorrow." Now that sounded... serious. Lily was starting to feel the effects of the jet lag too, so she couldn't have agreed more with Shawn about getting some rest. She hoped she would be able to sleep. Traveling in this direction, it was definitely a problem, but she'll try anyway. She'll need to be at her best for the mission tomorrow. Yes she was nervous. She could tell the others were too. Denying it wouldn't have made anything better, so she admitted it. To herself. So far everything went smoothly, and they were as organized and prepared as they could be. They had a plan, they had a mission, they had a team, they had a leader they could trust. She glanced at Shawn. What a responsibility. One does not go motherly-cuddly over the team leader in front of the whole team. Definitely not. As the others left, she lingered; standing up at last, she put a hand on Shawn's shoulder and smiled. " You too. Get some sleep, okay?" Falling asleep went easier than she'd thought. Tough night tomorrow.

Noted, Shin nodded, as Shawn finished his speech. It was as he'd thought. They couldn't ask around without drawing attention. They couldn't use their powers without getting in trouble. They had to be discrete, they had to keep their wits about them, and most importantly, they had to work as a team.
"That sounds like an excellent plan, Shawn. Great speech." Shin smiled as he walked past the silvermancer. "I'll give it my best. See you tomorrow."
The man had given Shin an awful lot to think about. How would he use his own power to help the cause? His power was offensive and defensive. It wasn't stealthy like Fade's. Then again, Fade was on his team. They'd work these things out. A thought struck Shin as he made his way towards the door. He glanced back at the red-haired mutant curiously.
"Have I told you what I can do, Fade? We should probably cover that before the mission starts... for now, I'm exhausted, though." Shin patted his mouth as a yawn overcame him. "I'll tell you all about it tomorrow. Good night."
He looked to Kasumi. "I'll see you tomorrow, too." Shin smiled. The urge hit him to give her a good night kiss. That'd be nice, Shin mused wistfully as he looked at her. But, no. They were on a mission. They had to keep things professional. He settled for a wave as he walked out the door. "Good night."
Shin made his way out into the hallway, then off to his room. Sleep came quick for the triangle-mancer. Locked behind a sturdy door, and buried under blankets, he didn't even notice how tired his eyes looked in the mirror. He didn't even notice the strange flicker of a shape in the reflection of one eye. Tossing and turning, Shin fell into the dream-like grid of a matrix. From then on, he noticed nothing but the electric sheep hopping a fence.
