The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Saph twitched as the doctor flaunted his doctor-ness, and waggled a finger at him, making him feel just as young as most of the other people who ended up in this room... He watched as the doctor left, and turned to Shin as he introduced himself.
"Pleased to meet ya, kid. Name's Saphirus, you can call me Saph if you want... Less syllables." The older mutant reached out for a friendly handshake, as always, looking to make eye contact as well. One of his old foster families was big on business and the like; always stressed the importance of making a good first impression... While he wasn't much of a suit, he did get one good thing out of it. When you looked someone in the eyes as you shook their hand, you, at the very least, showed them that you respected them enough to acknowledge them past just a formality... Sure, it was a lot of thought to put into such a small action, but people seemed to take well to it anyways... Most of the time.
The green girl had gone silent, with the exception of a depressed sigh... She didn't really seem to be the talkative type; Maybe she was new as well... Made sense with the talk of a 'tour'... A lot of people who weren't used to being new somewhere acted just like she did; he would know.
"You prolly guessed I'm new here as well... just arrived last night. I'd ask about a tour as well, but... well... Nap time." He leaned back so that he would be laying down once more, setting his head on the pillow that someone had gotten him. "See you guys around... hopefully not under the same circumstances, though.... that wouldn't be good."

Sweet Sapho... to quote Wonder Woman. The guy was named Saphirus. What a strange name... Gem names seemed to be a theme here at the mansion, didn't they? What with Jewel and Ruby... Shin hadn't even -met- Emerald or her third sister, yet he had a feeling there was some overarching naming convention at work. Then, there was Shawn, whose codename was 'Silver Streak', and Aurum, whose name was Latin for 'Gold', and Sam, whose Code Name was 'Cold Steel'. They rounded out the 'precious' and 'not-so-precious' metals naming convention list. It was strange how the mansion drew so many people with interesting names together! Like a big magnet!!
Shin extended a hand and nodded politely. "Nice to meet you," Shin said. He let go as the handshake ended and the man lay down.
So he was new, too... "See you around. If you ever need anything, my office is on the first floor, towards the end of the hall, just past Shawn and Sam's office. It's in the same area as most of the classrooms... can't miss it."
He looked to Andrea, and took a step away from the bed. Folding his hands behind his back, Shin fell into line beside her, facing Saphirus with a smile. He bowed his head lightly. "Later. Andrea?" He glanced her way. "Any particular areas you'd like to see first?"
>>"See you guys around... hopefully not under the same circumstances, though.... that wouldn't be good."
He could say that again. If Andrea could help it her glasses would be staying put for a good long time.
>>"Any particular areas you'd like to see first?"
After throwing one last look at newly named Saph, she turned her full attention back to Shin. A good question. SO far she had seen the library... and a few rooms along the way, including the kitchen. Unless they had another kitchen, that would probably be the few places she would absolutely need.
Well...
"I might have asked this already, i can't quite remember at the moment... But is there a music room here? Like... with pianos and such?" It wasn't exactly a need, but it would be the place she spent the most time in aside from the library and any classes that would have her.

Music Room.
"Sure," Shin replied. "Raina's classroom is downstairs, on the first floor. They have all sorts of instruments and good stuff. Follow me,"
The path from the infirmary to the downstairs classrooms was relatively uneventful. Once they'd left Saphirus and DocProf behind for their much-needed naps/conversations, Andrea was led down the hall, towards the stairs. Shin pointed out the occasional thing of interest.
"Out that window at the end of the hall," He noted at one point. "You can see the gardens. Not too far from the gardens, we have a basketball court. Around back, there's also a pool." He paused, in front of the massive window at the end of the hall, and stood a moment so she could look out on the gardens.
Once upon a time, there'd been plans for a hedge maze. Unfortunately, now all they had in the gardens were beautiful flowers. Maybe there was a small greenhouse somewhere on the grounds? "The gardens are a good place to sit and read," Shin noted. "I can't count the number of times I've sat out on the garden's benches, or sipped tea at the little glass tables they have out there. It's real calming, you know?"
He smiled wistfully, just looking out at it for a moment. Then, he turned back towards the staircase down to the front hall.
Music Room.
"It's this way." Down the stairs, and through the school's halls. Finally, they stopped outside a classroom. Shin nudged the door open, and held it for her.
Inside the classroom, there were rows of seats, a piano, and the occasional instrument in its box. In the back, there was an area for students to keep some of their own instruments, though most students would keep their oboes in their dorm rooms.
She could have squealed in a childish way and darted through the doorway. She could have dove onto the piano seat and ran her fingers across those blessed ivory keys, or rummaged though the assorted black cases no doubt filled with Instruments until she found the familiar form of a Violin.
But she wouldn't. She had caused shin enough trouble for one day...
Well, she did Squeal a little bit out of happiness.
"Oh wow! I never would have guessed the room was this big!"
She moved forward into the room quickly, her steps fueled by curiosity and a hope that she would spot the small, wooden shape she was accustomed to playing back at home.
"The music room I had back home was but a mere closet in comparison to this..."
Her eyes fell on a stand left out by the piano, sheet music pages stacked neatly in the center. She scanned it quickly, a small smile tugging her lips before she moved on to marvel over the piano itself. Her Fathers piano was nothing in comparison to it as well, so small, so insignificant.
She would definitely have to learn to play now. A finger poked at the keys carefully, causing small pings to echo from within. "Do you play any Instruments, shin?"
Her mind was a-whirl with plans on creating a band or a group that could get together and play like she had seen online. Oh, that would be wonderful!

>>"Oh wow! I never would have guessed the room was this big!"
"Heh," Shin crossed his arms smugly. It was always fun, showing students the rooms they wanted to see the most. The looks on their faces as they jumped for joy over bookcases, went mad over basketball courts, or... well, squealed for joy over violins... was rewarding.
Andrea's reaction was positively priceless.
>>"The music room I had back home was but a mere closet in comparison to this..."
"So, you play an instrument?" He asked. Shin absently wondered which one, and also, whether or not she had to wear her gloves when she played. That touch of hers had turned an apple to a substance highly similar to stone... to think what it would do to the ivory keys of a piano, or the shine of a tuba... the way she was looking at the piano made him think that maybe that was her instrument of choice...
A small note rang in the air of the music room as Andrea touched a key.
>>"Do you play any Instruments, Shin?"
"The... triangle." Shin offered weakly.
Yes, because that made perfect sense. "I never much got into band when I was young."
It took her a moment to remember what a triangle was to the music world. Her parents had only owned that which they had played in college, or so she had been told. After a moment it struck her and she grinned a bit, poking at another piano key.
"Even the smallest, lightest of sounds contribute to a Symphony."
She poked at the keys for a moment longer before returning to the music stand and its papers. It was an unfamiliar piece to her, something she had never seen before.
"I Play the Violin. Well, I'm still learning. Not yet a Master of the string."
Flipping the page over only brought to her eyes more strange, unfamiliar notes. Piano lessons would be the death of her, she could see it coming.
"I'm working my way though a Celtic piece. One of those long, whimsical songs..." The name escaped her, it was back home across the sea with her Violin and sheet music. Her old life. Her hands paused, hovering over the pages of music on the stand as bitterness and sorrow crept up the back of her throat. Thinking about the life she had lived but a few weeks ago caused her pain, and it didn't seem to matter how deep she buried those feelings. They always found a way to dig themselves back out again.
"It was composed by a Harpist I believe, my mother got me the sheet music for it." Shaking herself from sad thoughts, she moved away from the music and her memories, heading back towards the doorway.
"I suppose the last place I should see would be where i am to live, yes?"

>>"Even the smallest, lightest of sounds contribute to a Symphony."
"Yeah, but I'm just a chime in a the wind..." Shin replied with a light smile. Somehow, 'ting ting' lacked the power of a drum's 'boom boom'. It didn't have the sad trill of a violin, or the smooth sound of a saxamaphone. Just 'ting ting'. Like the sound of a trolley, 'ting'. Shin held up a finger, and tapped an imagined triangle in the air in front of him. "Ting."
>>"I Play the Violin. Well, I'm still learning. Not yet a Master of the string."
"Ah, ting. I see." The hand lowered. Shin stowed his smirk. Violins always were beautiful. Who was it that said 'when she heard a violin, she cried?' Ah, right. His grandmother. "My grandma always loved the sound of the violin."
>>"I'm working my way though a Celtic piece. One of those long, whimsical songs..." Andrea said.
Shin nodded. "I do like the way they move. Especially when they dance on the river... er..." River dance. Perhaps, he had the phrase wrong?
For a moment, Andrea seemed to turn inwards in her thoughts. Shin glanced at the other instruments in the room, turning outwards in her stead. He tapped a handing chime near the blackboard.
That resulted in a 'ting~!'
>>"It was composed by a Harpist I believe, my mother got me the sheet music for it." Andrea finally stirred. She moved towards the doorway. Shin followed her with his eyes. "I suppose the last place I should see would be where i am to live, yes?"
He supposed she wanted to see her room now. "Sure. Are you tired? I could always give you the rest of the tour some other time... or you could find the rest of the school yourself." He smiled. "There's always some fun in exploring."
Rooms. Right. He took a step towards the exit, and moved to lead her back up the stairs to her room.
She cast a look at him quickly over her shoulder at him, wondering if his comment was anything more than simply words. She listened to him, calmly tucking her hands back into her pea-coat pockets. A small smile tugged at her lips. She had a grandmother of her own somewhere, she had heard many tales of the woman from her mother, usually on holidays.
>>"Sure. Are you tired?" She nodded, but let him continue. "I could always give you the rest of the tour some other time... or you could find the rest of the school yourself. There's always some fun in exploring."
Either or sounded good to her. Another tour around the school after some rest and with fully dry clothes on would be great, as well wandering around and exploring herself. She smiled back at him, pulling a hand from her pocket to scratch behind her ear as she followed him out and back up the stairs.
"I could explore some more by myself, it might be better for me to seeing as I learn quickest with a hands on approach."
A true enough statement in her eyes. She had gotten herself through home school classes by dismissing her mother so she could work on the problems and essays by herself. She had done some mighty fine work in her opinion, but would never really have anything to compare it to without siblings or classmates.

"Alright, that sounds like a plan." Shin replied with a nod.
As they reached the top of the staircase, Shin glanced around. No sign of a yellow blur, no sign of a red blur. Though usually, there'd be no sign of either t-shirt color until it was too late to stop. The speedster would shoot past them, like a strong gust of wind. Whatever laundry mansion residents were carrying at the time would tumble. Whatever skirts girls were wearing had a habit of going the way of Marilyn Monroe. The mansion's resident speedster had no habit of stopping, or checking both ways before he crossed the school. Shin always had to be wary. More than one strawberry smoothie had been dropped.
"Your room should be down the center hall."Shin pointed. "Guys are on the left. Girls are down the hallway to the right, and..." Shin paused, and stared up at the ceiling as if he'd forgotten something. Oh, right. He'd already given that speech today. And... "Hold on a second," Shin turned away from her apologetically, reaching into his pocket for something. A communication device came out. Shin spoke into it. "Yeah, Jimmy. It's me. Shin. Can you snag me a key for an adult room from the drawer in my office...?" A minute of silence. "Yeah, that drawer. ... Okay. Great. Bring it up to the top of the staircase on the second floor. You'll be here in a second? Okay. Thanks."
Shin turned back to Andrea with a weak smile. "He'll be here in a second... sorry. I... forgot the most important part! Your room key, so..." They'd have to wait... Shin looked at his watch. One minute passed. The clock rounded on two. He glanced up to offer Andrea another weak smile. Footsteps clacked up the staircase. A man rushed towards Shin with a key.
"There we are. Thank you, Jimmy." Shin took it.
"No problem," the guy replied. "If that's it..."
"That's it."
"Later!" And he was off as soon as he'd arrived. Shin turned back to Andrea, and held out her key.
"The room number's on it. Straight down the center hall. Can't miss." Was that everything...?
"The room number's on it. Straight down the center hall. Can't miss."
With a meek smile, she took the key and stared at it quietly. It was a symbol to her. It was the key to her new life. Her fingers wrapped around the small metal object and she smiled, shifting her gaze back to shin.
"Thank you shin, really. You've made me feel more welcome here than i've ever felt anywhere else."
She bowed her head quickly, an exaggerated nod of sorts that her mother had done a lot when departing, before turning to walk down the hall way. Before her, her future was unfolding. For the first time in her life she left like she was on the right path. She was going what she was meant to do. Defiantly. Her feet moved her calmly towards her room, but inside her heart was fluttering.
It was so exciting! She had always dreamed of having her own place.... even if it was just a room. It was Her's! She stopped before the door with numbers that matched the key, and slipped the key into the lock.
It clicked into place and with her breath held, she grasped the doorknob and let the door slip open. Another squeal of delight emitted from her, louder than before, and she lurched into the room to dive upon the first bed she saw.
