The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

"Just an accident."Barely believable normally, but in a house full of untrained mutants, it was why just about everyone made their way to the Infirmary. Garrett nodded and smiled . "Sort of a 'gorgon's eye' thing, right Andrea? Can you explain your powers to him for me?" Andrea. Gorgon's eye. Her hair wasn't serpentine, but the eye coverings made much more sense now. The monosyallbic grunt she made was one Garrett knew well, much like when people wondered why subjects were wriggling around on the floor at his own feet.
"Well...... This... is what happens when I look at people. They get all ridged and stop responding for a while, but it usually only lasts for a short time! Then they just sort of...snap out of it. It's a lot like a Coma, I suppose. " Garrett placed his hands on the frozen boy before him, both on the right arm.He closed his eyes for a moment as his neural overlay began to appear. It was frozen like a snapshot. Only the rudimentary and basic impulses continued, the involuntary signals that kept one alive. He raised his head to look at the two worried friends. " Gorgon's eye. Very interesting. Makes sense really, considering I work with a unicorn at the Clinic. Mutation is a beautiful thing, as we can see here. I have abilities of my own that could affect him, but I think I will wait until the Doc returns or he snaps out of it. I'd hate for my manipulation to backfire and send the wrong messages down the pipe."
He placed a pillow gingerly beneath the boy's head while he adjusted and applied a blood pressure cuff. He looked at the clock on the wall as the inflated cuff hissed slowly out and he listened to the steady but faint pulse in the body." It's a little low, but okay. I suspect this has happened before and no one died? We might do well to just sit and wait." Garrett removed the cuff and stethoscope, returning them to the office. When he returned, he took a seat in a nearby chair." So, you were with Maya at the Sanctuary. Are you a resident here at the Mansion?" Of course, he spoke to the boy first. Not wanting to leave the worried gierlout, he turned to her next." Andrea, is it? Just take a seat and try to relax. I sympathize with your worries. My own mutation causes pain and seizures in others. I've definitely been in your shoes, feeling guilty. If you stay here at the Mansion, I am sure they can train you properly on how to use your gifts." Sort of her shoes. As long as you don't count the incident. Those required a larger pair to fill.

Shin kept silent as she gave a description of her ability. It was... simple, at least. And in this case, simple was good. He let Garrett do his part, keeping the statuesque boy steady. After a brief moment, the doctor looked up at them and spoke.
What he said worried Shin slightly. Backfire. No. None of that, please. He quite agreed with the course of action Doctor Garrett was taking. The do-nothing approach was so ignored these days, really. Why, it had worked for his broken arm when he'd healed it by several weeks of leisure and willpower. Why couldn't it work here?
They shifted him over to a bed and lay him down. Again, Garrett did what doctors do best: check things. In reference to the heart beat, he stated:
>> "It's a little low, but okay. I suspect this has happened before and no one died? We might do well to just sit and wait."
Shin nodded. "Sitting and waiting, I am fine with. Though I was giving her a tour..." He glanced towards Andrea, waiting for her response. He paused at Garrett's next question.
>> So, you were with Maya at the Sanctuary. Are you a resident here at the Mansion?
"Yeah... wait, weren't you...?" Shin slapped his forehead. Of course. "Sorry. Didn't remember your face. Bit hazy back then... what with what happened and all..."
He stopped talking so Garrett could talk to Andrea. Sitting down... yeah. Shin walked over to a chair and plopped down. That worked too.
"-I am sure they can train you properly on how to use your gifts."
Gifts... She had never heard it put that way before. Curse, ability, powers, yes... but Gift? Not once in her life had she heard it put in such a way when directed at her.... or maybe she had, and simply not noticed? The differences between this new place, and what she was used to were vast, and constantly astounding her.
Andrea shifted her gazed from one to the other, waiting for their short conversation to end before she injected her own response.
"Training- I would like that, definitely. Maybe with practice i won't need these bulky things anymore..." She looked back to shin briefly, toying absently with her glasses, before shifting her weight from one foot to the other and continuing. "Shin was giving me a tour, I don't want to take up any more of his time than nessesary..."
Andrea gaze shifted last to the unlucky guy she had stumbled into. She scratched at her cheek nervously, wondering exactly how long he would have to lay there before coming to...
The boy was right. Quite a bit had happened 'back then'. Garrett had never asked much about it. Seeing Maya in such a distraught state had made him jump to her rescue. Of course, Maya was more of a stability girl, with romantic gestures being window dressing. That really punctuated she and Sebastian's relationship. No worries about him changing . He had become pretty confident in himself over his long life. Garrett let his mind return to the shore of the current conversation." Yes, I was at the Sanctuary at the time. I no longer reside there, having moved to the Clinic with Sebastian and Maya. Things are always changing around us, aren't they?"
He smiled and returned his attention to the lovely green girl. She was fumbling with her glasses. Garrett was lucky to have control over himself. He imagined if he always hurt people when they touched him that he would be more of a basket case than he already was. " Training is something they do very well here, Andrea. I suspect that in time, you will feel very much at home. To be honest, I am happy to see someone taking up Neena's duties, always coming to greet and guide new people to the Mansion." He looked at the boy in his eyes. " Thank you, Shin."
Standing, Garrett walked to the boy on the table. He seemed more comfortable, if any perceptible change could occur. Fishing some cards from his pocket, he gave the two non catatonic people in the room one each. On it was inscribed the flower and eye design of the Iris Clinic, its address and two names. Sebastian Csendes and Garrett Wills. " Sebastian and I are operating a clinic in the City. We are using our respective gifts to heal people. It's a nice change for me. Of course, he does most of the work. With a touch, almost all is right as rain. he's amazing that way. I mostly drive patients around and do what I can in the nerve department. We are also renting some rooms out at the property, so if you know of any wayward mutants who aren't staying here and you don't want to see them toddle off to the Sanctuary, send them our way. I live there as do the imminent Csendes. I'm pretty sure one of the clones will be there, but it is Pluto, the most peaceful of the bunch."
He looked over the two of them and then over to the large pile of paperwork he was tasked with. He took a seat in the small office area, leaving the door open as he began to sort through the mess." I don't want to appear rude, but the DocProf wanted me to finish this stuff and I would rather be farther down the road on it when he returns. I can still hear you though." I's dotted and T's crossed, all the way.

>>" Yes, I was at the Sanctuary at the time. I no longer reside there, having moved to the Clinic with Sebastian and Maya. Things are always changing around us, aren't they?"
Shin nodded. "Yeah..." The sanctuary... he'd never thought he'd have had to go there again, yet with his body swapped he hadn't had much of a choice. It was strange thinking Garrett had found something for himself behind those golden doors. In that building that housed red giants and white ones. During that few weeks of being Abyss, a lot of things had changed... like his status as a motorcycle owner, or his bias against thieves. His morals had gotten a bit more lax, hadn't they?
Shin nodded to Andrea when she mentioned training. Speaking of changes. "Definitely."
>> Training is something they do very well here, Andrea. I suspect that in time, you will feel very much at home. To be honest, I am happy to see someone taking up Neena's duties, always coming to greet and guide new people to the Mansion. Thank you, Shin."
Shin scratched the back of his head with a weak laugh. "It's just what I do." And he got paid for it. That was really all the thanks he needed, right? Right? He glanced over at Andrea as she reminded him about the tour. "Don't worry. I've got the time." He stated. They had all the time in the world, really. Plenty of time to tour the mansion. More than enough time to wait to find out the status of this poor guy who'd gotten a stun-blink. Shin imagined that Andrea would want to know that information before he showed her the rest of the mansion. Otherwise, she wouldn't be able to focus. She'd have it weighing her down. So really, all the time in the world. He didn't want any students weighed down by worries. Not if he could help it.
Speaking of help. Shin took the card Garrett handed him with a quiet 'Thanks.' For everything.
Then Garrett began to explain the details behind the business card. It seemed him and Sebastian operated a clinic... Sebastian... that would be the man who rescued Ghost when she'd been shot... and took them to the sanctuary. He was a healer. Right.
Garrett and Sebastian's clinic seemed like a good idea.
Shin slipped the card into a pocket with a polite smile. It might come in handy some other day. Shin remembered when they'd needed a good healer for Koga, and been unable to do better than a hospital... though Sebastian had been healing Ghost then. He'd of been busy...
So Garrett was the wheel-man, then? And his power dealt with nerves...
Shin's eyebrow arced at the mention of 'Pluto'.
"Good fashion sense, that Pluto." Shin commented. "Met him way back in February... so you're renting out rooms?" Shin nodded. "That does sound like a good way to make ends meet." If the clinic offered free help, they'd have to make their money somehow.
Garrett moved to the office area, where a mountain of paperwork loomed. Ugh, paperwork. The one bad thing about his job. Greeters had to help mansion-goers fill out all the paperwork. Whenever they wanted to join a class or wipe their nose.
"You have my sympathies," Shin stated. He turned his head Andrea's way, with a question on his mind. "You're fine waiting this out, right? I'd hate for you to worry about it while I gave you the tour."
While she tried in vain to keep herself from being sucked into the pairs short, reminiscent conversation- the act of staring through her shades at the still, gray man laying on his back in front of her was not keeping her attention from wandering to that of what was being said around her. Her curiosity peaked at the mention again of this... sanctuary, something she had no knowledge of herself. With as much restraint as she could muster, she tore herself away from the two to move closer to the man she had stumbled into. So many questions were on her mind, many of which were only starting to surface now that the initial panic she was stricken with was wearing off. Of course, at the top of the list was the nagging question of what this "sanctuary" was... and directly after that was the Clinic that Garrett had been talking about.
With that thought in mind, she lifted a hand to gaze at the small card she still held gently in her fingers, scanning one side before she flipped it to scan the other quickly. Perhaps, once she was more settled into her new, raw surroundings, she would venture out once again to explore these places newly introduced to her.
She scrunched up her nose, mind wandering to the other tasks she would have to take care of, such as getting her hands on some clothes... and maybe a few other key necessities. Andrea scratched at her cheek absently, before remembering for once not to act so shyly. She contented herself with toying with the end of one of her braids instead.
"You're fine waiting this out, right? I'd hate for you to worry about it while I gave you the tour."
It took a moment for her to realize the words were directed at her, so deep was she in her own silly thoughts. She blinked a few times and dragged her eyes away from the gray form before her, to shin- dark eyebrows raised high above her bug eyed shades.
"...wha-" Oh! duh. She really needed to pay more attention... "Oh! Yes! I mean no! I'm fine with waiting...until... he wakes up..." Smooth. Really smooth. She bopped herself on the forehead mentally, before moving along. Shin was right. If she left now, it was more than likely going to grate at her that she wouldn't know if the guy was alright. Sure, he could just wake up, yawn, stretch and skip off merrily on his way- but there was always the chance that something terrible would happen... maybe he wouldn't wake up at all! Maybe he would wake up, but never regain full consciousness and become an eternal zombie only meant to live to follow the will of others and be a slave until the end of his life!!
She caught herself before hyperventilating, and cast a shamed, nervous look behind her at the two other conscious bodies in the room besides herself. If she wasn't careful, all of the help she would be getting later on would be accompanied by a nice white, padded room and a new warm jacket.
"...Thank you, both of you. Normally, i would've passed out a while ago and both of us would be lying there." She poked at the guy sullenly yet hopefully, as if the contact would jump start him awake.
"-ay whatthehelljusthappened?!" hIs eyes snapped open in mid speech as he completed the word he had BEen saying as he was frozen, and added a senTance that just seemed like it belonged there. it was... odd... one second he was in a hall, looking down at a green woman, and the next, he was laYing dOwn in a completely different room, looking at the ceiling. saphirUs sat up quiCkly, looking about the room HE was in... he half expeCted to see little green men with very scary looKing probEs and big eyes... insteaD he only saW a green woman, and an asian kid... wow, aliens really weren't wHAT they were cracked up to be... unless jacky chan over there's tongue had teeth, he was going to be sorely dIssapointed. he noticed that the green girl was nearing him with a finger, and he jerked away in panic, falling off of his current SeAtIng, and onto his back side. He once again sprung quickly to his feet somewhat embarrassed at his reaction. "eh... someone wanna explain to me what exactly is goin on here?" He lookeD back and forth between the two people... They were the same people he saw outside of the library before... before a cup, some tea, and a table kicked his ass... then he head reached down and caught sight of the girls eyes... and then... nothing... heck, he didn't even have time to finish what he had been saying before he woke up here.

>>"Oh! Yes! I mean no! I'm fine with waiting...until... he wakes up..."
Shin gave a light laugh. "Okay, sounds good." So, she was worried. He shifted his focus from her to the statuesque form she'd brought about. He was still still... ugh. Shin hoped he woke up soon.
>>"...Thank you, both of you. Normally, i would've passed out a while ago and both of us would be lying there." Andrea poked the statue.
Shin turned his head back towards her, ready to say 'no problem', when suddenly... 'stuff' happened. With lots of 'words' and 'actions'. That concrete codger clipped along as gears in his head began turning. Yes, they were in a new location. And yes... he had been out for a while.
And now, he was sitting on the floor.
>>"eh... someone wanna explain to me what exactly is goin on here?"
"You've been out for a while," Shin stated. He looked to Andrea to provide further explanation.
The fact that her poke seemed to have jump started the guy awake startled Andrea just about as much as it had startled the guy. She backed up around the same time that he very gracefully tipped backwards off of the table. Her feet brought her quickly as far away as they could before he was back on his feet.
"eh... someone wanna explain to me what exactly is goin on here?"
She turned to shin, fully expecting that he would have wise words to calm the guy down, so she woulden't make a fool of herself again trying to explain what had happened.
"You've been out for a while,"
There it was again, all the attention back on her. She tried in vain to disappear behind shin, half wondering if now would be the best time to think ones self into Non existence- all the while trying to form some sort of intelligent response amidst the chaos raging in her head.
"...I...er... My bad?" She glanced back and forth between the two of them before deciding on her own that her short answer wouldn't be good enough. With a sigh, she continued on- "...I'm sorry, it was an accident.... I tripped and my glasses fell off and, well... poof you froze and we carried you here so someone could help you..." yes, much better that her first response. "...but your all better now, yes? We can just forget this ever happened?" Hopeful, possible, but highly unlikely.
Saph looked back from his sitting position at the pillow they had placed under his head... At least they were nice enough to make sure he was comfortable... He let out a sigh as he looked back to the girl, who seemed to be honestly sorry for whatever she had accidently done to him... To tell the truth, he wasn't mad; he was really just more confused than anything else...
"Look, don't worry about it, okay? I dunno what happened, but I feel fine now, so it's whatever.."
He looked to the boy, now, who had mentioned that he had been out for a while.
"How long was I out? Jeez, it feels like it was only a split second... I was in the hall... and then, well, here I am now... Wait... Where am I?"
He hadn't seen this place on his self-tour... Maybe it was one of the doors he had passed over...
He shifted uncomfortably for a second, and then turned to place his feet on the ground. And then winced as his groin suddenly hurt... he then remembered the tea cup hitting him, and realized it was one of those hits that took a moment to kick in... Wow... it was like he really was frozen in time for a bit... He looked down to his shirt, reaching up to touch the wet spots that were still there from the tea he had been showered in, and then got into the thought that maybe a real shower wasn't a bad idea... He would have to take one after he got out of here, and away from the the strange girl who had done -something- to him.

"You're in the mansion infirmary," Shin replied. "And, yknow. For once, I'm glad it's on the second floor? I don't think we could have managed lugging your statuesque form up or down a flight of stairs..." Not without breaking it, to say the least. Mentally, Shin shifted eyes left, then right at the thought. Now was the perfect time for jokes, right? The guy seemed fine.
"Ahem," A voice from the hallway door caused Shin's head to spin. Asian eyes fell on the ancient facade of DocProf. Okay, maybe not ancient, but mature, and certainly old enough to school everyone in the mansion at root beer chugging contests. Shin absently wondered if that was still a good thing. DocProf spoke again. "What have we here?"
"Power malfunction," Shin explained with a glance towards Andrea. "Not too big a deal. Could you check him over to see if he's fine?"
DocProf nodded, and moved to take a look at the blue-eyed mutant that had been affected. "Explain to me just what happened..." He pulled out a very-cold looking stethoscope, eying Saphirus.
"An accident," Shin asserted once again. "We were at the library, and Andrea's glasses fell off. Her sight... I guess the correct term is 'paralyzed'." Shin glanced at Andrea, then back to the doctor. "She said it was usually temporary. Like a momentary pause... he's fine, right?"
DocProf finished his examination, turning back to them both. "I don't see any injuries. If he needs to rest a bit here, that's fine. We can watch over him."
Yes... Usually temporary. As far as she knew anyway. She was thankful that it had been a relatively short 'paralysis', as Shin had put it. Her nerves unruffled themselves, and she shifted on her feet once more, her eyes locked on the newest body within the room. She was unsure exactly how to address him, this.. older fellow. Doctor... maybe, or was that to formal for someone working outside of a hospital?... Mr. maybe, but Mr. what?
As always, her mind ran off without her, leaving her alone to blink and look from one man to the next, then back again. Perhaps instead of contacts, she should invest in some of those things tourists and old people seemed fond of? Those little bands of latex or string that one could adjust behind the head.... or under ones hair.
Pursing her lips, Andrea nodded to herself, making it a must have on her mental shopping list. When the Doc assured them that the guy was indeed alright, she turned her gaze first to the guy, then to the doc, then finally to shin.
"So he's alright then..."
Whew. It felt like a weight was lifted from her shoulders, and she sighed in relief.

Saph opened his mouth to respond to Shin when the older gentleman arrived. He paused for a second as he realized that this was the first person in the mansion he had seen that was older than himself... He was about to say a 'hi' when the man started talking to shin, and then approached, pulling out a stethoscope...
Aw crap, it was a doctor... He wasn't a fan of them, to be honest... First off, they were all way more educated than him, which meant a conversation would most likely end in him feeling rather stupid in comparison, and second off, they were always poking and proddi- "@#$@ that thing's cold!" he said as the man pressed the metal to his skin, checking his heart beat. He shifted uncomfortably a little bit each time as the man moved the sound receptacle around to listed to his lungs as well, and then turned to state that he was fine.
He mumbled just under his breath, so only those who were listening would hear, "I coulda told you that..." He then spoke up as the doc mentioned him being allowed to rest there... "Come to think of it, I haven't slept in over a day... Maybe I should stay here and rest..."

>>"I coulda told you that..."
"Hmph," DocProf shook his head at Saphirus with a knowing smile. "Perhaps, but who's the doctor here?" He waggled a finger.
>>"Come to think of it, I haven't slept in over a day... Maybe I should stay here and rest..."
DocProf nodded. "Feel free. If there's nothing else?" He looked to Shin. Shin shook his head. "Very well, then. There's some paperwork I need to check on. If you'll excuse me," With that, the old man slipped into the adjoining office to speak with Garrett. Shin turned to Andrea, scratching the back of his head.
"Soooo... I guess now we can do that tour. Though," His eyes cut to the man on the bed. "I never did get your name. My name's Tetsuya Shinbo. Most of the people at the mansion call me Shin."
Her eyes flitted quickly to shin and back. So... It was alright to shorted his name then... she had been referring to him by his full name for most of her time in the lavish building.
Perhaps shortening his name would become a friendly gesture?... or endearing. She recalled the few and rare moments that she had heard her father call her mother 'Pet', Short for her god given name. It had always brought a smile to her mothers lips, as well as disrupt any negative feelings between the to. She recalled most of those negative feelings had been brought about by her presence- Andrea knew this, though neither of them had bothered to inform her of it.
Only her cat had been honest with its feelings towards her.
With a soft, relieved and sad sigh, she let her shoulders slump a bit. Maybe once the tour was over she could crawl back to her quaint little motel room to gather her things and catch some sleep. She imagined that whatever room they might have for her would require paperwork and many, many questions.
The Motel room clerk hadn't even bothered to look at her twice after she paid him. She nodded in response to shin's statement, before letting her own nervous gaze land once more on the man. Maybe if she was lucky she'd never meet him again, and thus, never had to feel the guilt over what had happened tonight ever again.
